I know many people say that there are no good novels on this site, and it oftens feels like the top lists are filled with overpowered MC's, undeveloped harems, 2D characters, and lacking plots.

There are some novels that stand out, however, whether that be for their plots, characters, or translations.

Every time I visit the front page of NU and I see a long title for a JP WN, I know its story and characters are going to be shallow and a waste of my time . I've been sick of the infinite number of the "fantasy RPG" Japanese WNs out there and Chinese WNs that drag on for thousands of chapters. Korean novels tend to be better in that respect by having a unique story and being easy to read without seeing half the chapter used up to describe insignificant details. ... more>>

Yeah there's still some isekai novels here but at least it's going to have good progression and character growth. <<less

If you guys are looking to have a 'swell' time, then just look at my list. It mostly has Japanese and Korean light novels as you can see from the list. But, don't let that discourage you. I add any books i have read personally or just books that have good ratings and what not. But, do not rely on the ratings alone. There are so many amazing works that feature regressed MCs that are going through a second chance in management, corporate ladders, sports, cooking, etc. Definitely stronger list than the second chance in fantasy. Wanted to make a list that specifically targets this genre.... more>>

First, some of the best that aren't on NU:
1. Trailer tr*sh - wonderful depiction of a second chance high school life with strongly developed characters
2. Metaworld chronicles - only barely qualifies because it's really a fantasy world, but it's an alternate modern day Earth, with great detail and development of cultures and places and set in a modern society, if magic based
3. Let me make you a star - [have not yet read] but has good ratings, comment if you've had a chance to read it!

In addition, there are a number of great drama/TV shows (JP, CN and KR) of second chances that I highly recommend if you like this genre. I've added them in a comment below the list.

These are romance novels with various kinds of varieties that I have read and have not read that I find interesting and happen to have the urge to share it to you guys just bc I find it a waste to haggle all of these treasures for myself. 

The novels you're gonna be seeing here is still the same, romance novels, that are straight and are either realistic, fluffy, no dog-blood drama and 109876 chapters to resolve misunderstandings, no 5 men chasing after the protagonist, no male lead with 1000 concubines, makes sense to at least at the bear minimum, light-hearted, or some philosophical really deep stuff(though rarely). But mostly, it's gonna be more about fluff, light-hearted and more focused on romance.
