I know many people say that there are no good novels on this site, and it oftens feels like the top lists are filled with overpowered MC's, undeveloped harems, 2D characters, and lacking plots.

There are some novels that stand out, however, whether that be for their plots, characters, or translations.

BLs with a healthy power dynamic (mostly, since those are pretty rare), well-developed leads, great storylines, almost no unhealthy and unrealistic characterisations like yandere MLs or MCs with questionable IQs. Edit: Woa, I never expected that many users to like obsessive MLs, feels great to see those with the same 'guilty pleasures' as mine (I don't feel guilty though, not because my taste is good but because I lack shame). We're out here bonding over unhinged guys lmao. Also, what's your ideal obsessive ML? I'm quite curious, so feel free to comment it below. 

Personally, I prefer MLs who are usually ruthless and somewhat cruel to everyone but the MC, whom they treat with utmost love, care and respect, of course they're still 'toxic' in a way they wouldn't leave the MC alone or ever separate from him, but to make him stay, they'd rather pamper him to the hell and back than use torture or abuse. A big plus if they're paired with sly and morally grey MCs.

Keep in mind that I am a very very... more>> picky reader but I often go back and reread these wayyy too many times to be healthy. These are all just gems and must-reads you have to know- there’s angst (hardcore and softcore along with stuff that made me ugly sob with hiccups), there’s downright fluff(some of them literally bleed fluff), there’s some that I read just for the plot( YES PLOT IS A TANGIBLE THING IN MOST OF THESE) and some that are just orgasmically dopamine filled. Disclaimer- like 4-5 of these are pretty hardcore so if you’re uncomfortable with yandere, dubcon, kinda~in*est, bd*m (READ THE TAGS ALWAYS) etc Just take it with a grain of salt but like it’s only a few out of this huge list. I hope you enjoy! <<less

Sorted roughly from most obsessive to least obsessive (I used to have a bias for QT novels, though). Favorite to least favorite where I couldn't decide. Numbers 60~75 are mostly just there to fill the lower ranks, and numbers 76~91 are novels that need more updates or that I'm planning to read. <<less

Here comes a longass list because I like harem. It's something I've seen many people dislike since they prefer 1-1 couples. However, I like it because even if I hate a ML or two, there's bound to be at least one other ML in the harem who might be likeable. So I'll rather see the MC get chased by the entire gay town™ than read about just one ML who could be insufferable.... more>>

For example, 'I Rely on Beauty to Stabilize the Country' has a somewhat annoying ML but because it's not a harem, you're supposed to suffer through all the paragraphs brimming with his a$$holery, and can only root for him and the MC because no other guy can ever end up with the MC. 

On the other hand, 'The Cruel Tyrant' has a similar theme — a modern dude transmigrating and carrying the responsibility of restoring a kingdom on his shoulders, but it's a harem with different kind of MLs so even if you skip the parts of some MLs you dislike, there's still around 2-3 MLs left you can enjoy reading about. That's not to say I like every harem novel or dislike every non-harem novel though, it's just that I'll like anything as long as it won't have those insufferable characters I'm forced to sit and watch. <<less

Not sure about Silent Reading, but in 2ha's case I believe it could be because, compared to other higher-ranked novels (like The Legendary Master's Wife, Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil etc etc), it's pretty new and once its popularity sky-rocketed, it got published with eng translations and the fan translation was removed, so about 40% of readers of this novel probably bought the novel instead of reading it on NU — which is why they didn't add it to their reading list and those readers weren't counted.  <<less
