I'll also put what made me want to pick the story up. Just be warned that I will delete the story from the list after I've read so the list will frequently change. I like to view the cover art of the book, and be able to see a lot of novel details on the list in one place instead of having to click to the web novel page. I also include any translation detail like where to find them if they aren't on novelupdates so I can read the whole story without getting stuck halfway because of no translations. Not in any particular order but I try to put similar novels, either in expected tropes or vibes together. And the incompleted ones at the back.  Recommendations are very welcome! <<less

Long novels with more than 150 chapters. Has bl, romance, and long af fantasy/scifi novels. Quality kind of guaranteed, negative points can still be acceptable (actually, no but yes but you can handle it). Sad endings not included. But some of the extremely long ones tend to get repetitive and a tad bit boring by the end. The 2nd to 24th book follows the pattern bl-bg-ml and each set has at least one lighthearted read so I don't get sick of reading. If I get bored halfway, I'll pause and read shorter novels as a palate cleanser... more>>

Worlds that are full of men only with so-called females(men that can give birth) or with real females. Some are community/tribe/kingdom building aspect which is very interesting. Some can also focus on family improvement more. Incomplete stories can be found elsewhere. You just have to search for it.  <<less

I used to read western novels mostly but after the hype of Mo Dao Zu Shi, I got attracted to Chinese BL novels. And recently I have fallen into the BL hole. So, I continuously read Asian BL novels and what I have seen is that many of the BL stories have the following characteristics:... more>>

1. Stories are repetitive in nature with one main character completely obsessed with the other main character. Also, most of them focus mainly on the lead characters. Most of the time, side characters are just there to be the lead characters' lackeys or face-slap recipients.

2. Even the writing style and plot are copy-paste from some older novels of the same genre. 

3. R*pe is highly romanticized especially on Asian BL novels.

4. Toxic relationship is depicted as romantic . 

5. And lets not forget the segregation of 'top' and 'bottom'. 

6. 'Tops' are aloof, cold, otherworldly handsome, possessive and sex-driven.

7. 'Bottoms' are feminine, meek and cute.

Have I forgotten anything else? Feel free to remind me.

There are really only a few stories with proper world building, character development, healthy relationship, intricate and original plot, realistic characters, original writing style, etc.  These are what I personally think are the best Asian BL novels I have ever read: <<less
