I’ve become the time-stop breeding uncle from an erot*c game.

But the situation is completely f*cked up, so I saved the world first.

Before I knew it, people around me were praising me as a hero.

…..I don’t give a f*ck about being a hero, I just want to retire. f*ck.

I'd like to agree with one reviewer that there is a terrible inconsistency or a huge plothole in the exposition of the story. The following is established:

  • The original Uncle was very physically unfit.
  • He used timestop to do everything - he used it to steal food, firewood and commit all manner of crimes.
Fair so far.

  • Using timestop consumes a lot of stamina, so much, that the MC has to train in order to use it more effectively.
Excuse me, what??? This is a clear contradicition within the premise of the story. How could... more>> the Original use his ability so much without having any stamina?

Although I am not usually one to look for plotholes or think too deeply about a web novel, this issue is way too glaring. <<less

I've read very few chapters, so I acknowledge this isn't quite fair to the story, but I would like to express my discontentment nonetheless with a specific aspect of it.

The protagonist apparently transmigrates into the body of some ugly fat r*pist bastard with time-stop abilities. In the game the character is from, this "ugly uncle" had r*ped numerous heroines with ease, then promptly disappeared effortlessly when his task was done. Now we are told that the duration of the frozen time depends on your own stamina as the ability itself... more>> greatly drains your stamina, with exercising inside of that gray frozen world arrested in time compared to having your whole body laden with weights. However, the protagonist seems to have inherited without any explanation a far weaker version of said ability. You'd assume that s*x is a strenuous activity that takes several minutes (which the fat uncle was shown to be capable of even with his fat and weak body that had never seen exercise). And yet, our protagonist, even after immediately shifting to a strict and intense regimen of physical training and becoming far more physically fit, is left drained after defeating seven wolves attacking together while using his abilities. Not only should the duration of his ability have been greatly increased compared to its previous state when he was suffering from extreme obesity and lack of exercise, but killing defenseless wolves that literally can't move and who can be cut through using a simple sharp blade should be simplicity itself. But apparently he still nonsensically struggled, and was even grateful that his ability allowed him to match other strong characters in the setting. And yet, in the later chapters, he finds that even common demons, which would be dispatched with ease by the main characters within the game and other truly strong beings, possess skin that he struggles for many minutes to potentially hours to cut through, or is even completely incapable of harming.

I don't mind a weak protagonist, and some of my favourite stories are ones filled with constant struggle and a world tearing away the gains of the protagonist. And yet, I am still irked by this apparent betrayal. In a story, unless your story is pointedly trying to make your protagonist an unreliable voice or the setting is so fantastical that there are no fixed rules about magic ad other abilities, consistency is crucial. And yes, to a certain extent powerscaling matters, because if your audience finds that suddenly a character purported to be much weaker than another defeats the latter effortlessly, then it throws into question the validity of the entire strength/power system. Similarly, an ability said to be able to do something should not suddenly lose that particular functionality when made necessary by the plot (unless properly justified). Imagine Superman, someone who can literally survive the harshness of space's cold and vacuum, and vast amounts of physical force (lifting buildings with ease), succumbing to the punch of some moderately strong gangster (which he should be nearly immune to, rationally speaking). Or say a superhuman standing near the apex of your setting, but promptly eliminated by far weaker or unremarkable individuals because the author needed them gone; while it is acceptable for a character to grow in strength (justification still needed to have it make sense in the setting), it is however rarely accepted by readers when a character seemingly becomes weaker/is defeated by a far lesser show of force than they have been said to be able to bear normally for plot reasons without justification. Explain. Justify. Even if your reason is bogus, it is far better to have one than none at all, which was the case here.

I'll edit my review if I start enjoying the story, and have aspects to praise. <<less

It's okay, good for a laugh or two. But the implementation is mediocre and entertainment value lies solely on the gimmick.

This is one of those stories that constantly has the protagonist narrating their internal thoughts. For every half a page of plot, there's a full page of narration from the protagonist.

The synopsis is rather misleading as well. The story doesn't take place after the protagonist became the hero. No, it starts when the protagonist transmigrates. The synopsis is just the author spoiling the ending. Which as of chapter 22, hasn't... more>> happened yet. At the rate we're going, I'd guess the protagonist won't kill the demon lord for at least another 100 chapters.

This is a story that was written by the seat of the author's pants. Nothing lands particularly well, nothing feels all that clever, the novel lives and dies by how interested you are in the gimmick. <<less

The story is pretty good and relatable. The MC is giving me an inspiration to do 'calisthenics' and do a 'proper diet'.

The story isn't about NTR or some sort of disgusting uncle rapist trope. It is about acceptance.

Well in the end, Uncle and the heroine status have reversed. Instead of following the plot of gobbing them, he is about to get eaten by them, especially the first one, lmao.

Don't worry, there is no pe*ophilian trope here. Heroines will chase after him when they are legal.

Highly recommended.

If you've read Korean harem isekai novels before, one where they have a power, then this is going to read like the rest.

Did you know the MCs power is time stop? Cause if you didn't, they mention it every single chapter... Has the pitfalls of a misunderstanding novel, where eventually the genius praise or self depreciation of MC gets old. But this doesn't have comedy or other characters to balance things out.

Good time waster, to a point then the harem female monologues will get boring and it's time to move... more>> on. I'd say interesting till 50 and diminishing from there. <<less

The time stop uncle is, essentially, a philosophical tool. It helps the reader to answer questions many people have about societal morality within the abscence of witnesses or consequence. That is to say: if I could 100% get away with something, would I do it? Most people get stuck on the hypothetical, they question the method in which such a crime could be done with a 100% certainty of guilt-free absolution and no societal consequence and this subconsciously holds them back from answering with sincerity. But the ability to stop... more>> time solves this dillima. It is an ultimate power, one which can be ab*sed with no conseqences. Stopping time doesn't hurt the user, it doesn't corrupt their soul or drain their lifespan. Nobody can guard against it or detect it. You can do anything and you will always be safe from criticism or accusation. With no threat of a consequence, many people would choose to do things they normally wouldn't do. Thus the meme of the time stopping breeing uncle was born. A carefree force of nature that takes advantage of others with a smile on his face and a skip in his step.

While most readers understand the time-stopping breeding uncle as an archetype from a popular subgenre of modern p*rnography, this mental exercise has it's origin in popular western science fiction from the pulp era, showing a brief resurgance during the early ages of television on shows such as the twilight zone. At first, I assumed the author chose the title for this book for shock and meme value. I ignored the minor foreshadowing offered by the original uncle who insisted he acted the way he did because he had no choice, implying that his behavior was predestened. That is a rather hard pill to swallow and seems like a particularly shallow arguement to defend what is essentially a hardcore villian's motivation. Was the author trying to be meta to justify his meme title with some weak 'i was written this way uwu' explaination?

Later on the author expands on these themes and keeps returning to reference the original uncle, his actions, and how they effect the world/story. But by chapter 37, the whole morality involved in being able to stop time and how easy it is to ab*se starts to become a more important focus on the story. At first, the MC is seemingly a one trick poney, and he only has one thing he can do which he does. But there's so much more he could be doing with it. And he doesn't, on purpose. Why? Because he doesn't want to violate his own bottom line of morality and ethics. It would be so easy to act like the original uncle. Not just for s*x, but to get everything he wants. Money, power, comfort, and so on. The original uncle was so fat and disgusting looking primarily because of how lazy his powers made him. He simply took the easy route in all respects of life, he stole things when he wanted them, he plundered if someone had something he didnt, he ran away when things got dangerous and would vanish when people got suspicious. He was an absolute tr*sh human being with no bottom line and this is all before the game-story even begins. The MC doesn't want to be like that. As a consequence, he does things the hard way, and you can't help but cheer him on as he takes the harder road. This th**ny path is what impresses the people around him, and draws them nearer to him. It requires effort, and it requires sacrifice.

The start is pretty rough and generic, but not unforgivably so. The story and the world building start to get expanded upon around chapter 25, and new ideas and concepts start getting introduced around the mid 30s.
Spoiler

The demons may not be what the MC originally assumed, and this by extension starts to give credit to the original claim that the time stop breeding uncle didn't really end up how he wanted to do due to his own desire but rather as a possible consequence of external factors as hard as that might be to believe.

[collapse]
The author expands on both the mc's background as a player and the history of the game itself. The story stops feeling generic and vague and gets more fleshed out over time.

This story contains heavy themes: ab*se, betrayal, neglect and abandonment. This is a dark fantasy world where everyone has a tragic backstory. But the MC strives to be everyone's light... while stuck in the body of the time stopping breeding uncle. <<less

I've been saving this one for a while, so imagine my disappointment when my expectations and reality didn't match.

My main problem with this is the fact that the main character is a one trick phony.

He doesn't have any redeeming qualities. He's certainly not intelligent. Of course he isn't. To make a story like this work, you have to make the protagonist low on the IQ side.

He's the type of character to randomly say stuff out loud when no one should be around to hear him, only for someone to actually... more>> be there and catch him saying stuff that only causes more misunderstandings.

But that's not even the reason why I stopped reading. I think this story is entertaining only for people who enjoy the trope of 'The MC is weak as shit, but everyone thinks he's some godly hero'.

Because as far as I've read, that's what he is. He's been working out and trying to lose weight, but that's as far as he goes.

He has to use his time stop ability in every fight (and it has restrictions and cool down as well, which means he can't spam it). Which is good! I like that - but it's completely useless if the MC himself continues to stay weak.

He even said it so himself. His time stop ability is useless if he doesn't have enough strength to cut his enemy's neck. That's why I thought the first part of the story would be him biding his time and slowly building his strength.

But instead it looks like he's already about to be drafted to join, or at least become a potential candidate, for the Royal Knights (a supposedly op knight order made only from the best of what every nation/race can offer).

Let me add as a note that it has been stated that as of now there are no humans in the Royal Knights, which is why the MC is being considered a candidate since everyone thinks he's actually op and could actually become some sort of hero of humanity.

Everything is escalating way too fast without giving the MC time to even properly lose weight.

Imagine taking early DBZ Krillin and making him compete in the Tournament of Power.

It doesn't help that it seems like the story is going to hinge too much on the time stop ability and not so much on the protagonist's growth.

19 chapters is nowhere enough to judge a story's worth, but I've jumped to the latest chapter translated/available to see if I was wrong. It turns out the protagonist still has to use the time stop to defend himself.

I'm not going to say that the story is bad. After all, it all boils down to personal taste.

Good translation and update frequency. <<less

This is a very nishe novel.

If you are a fun of misunderstandings go for it. The way they are seem fun.

But as someone who despises such a trope, I tried my best to ignore it. After reading a bit I can say that the writing is decent. How the author slowly builds the world and hints on future event is enjoyable.

One thing that isn't decent is translation. It's sub-par at best. However the main reason for that is the fact that there is only one translator and no editor or... more>> proofreader.

Conclusion is such, if you can handle a good Mtl (still very noticeable), give it a try and support the translator. <<less
