I made a list that includes what I considered the best of the best but I slowly built up a sizable list of novels that I wouldn't consider "great" but were a pleasant/tolerable read regardless. These managed to avoid most of the annoyances I have with novels while remaining interesting enough to keep me reading for a decent amount of time. In no particular order.... more>>

Novels that actually are decent to good. Not the usual harem where the MC forget about them, or the face-slapping, restaurant fighting, no brain characters,... more>> and the like. These ones actually have a good plot, magic system (or cultivation), character development, interesting arts/techniques, and side characters. <<less

Rating:

10/10 - Complete masterpiece, personal favorite. Not flawless but as close to perfection as possible.

9/10 - Masterpiece. Slight flaws here and there, but a fantastic novel.

8/10 - Very good. Not quite a masterpiece, but close.

7/10 - Good. Has flaws but they don't drag the novel down too much.

6/10 - Decent. Somewhat significant issues or poor writing but still overall not bad.

5/10 - Average. Satisfactory story but likely not particularly innovative, pretty generic, and has plenty of problems.

4/10 - Somewhat bad. Slightly poor story, large flaws and low innovation. Still readable.

3/10 - Bad. The story is bad, or the characters are bad, it is very generic, or there are very big issues. Or all four.

2/10 - Terrible. Almost unreadable, the story is completely riddled with issues and is deeply frustrating.

1/10 - Unreadable. 

X - Unfinished, will probably never finish. The novel is probably too boring or has fallen off to an extreme degree, to the point where I can't even bring myself to finish it. Some of these novels might pick up later and become really good, but currently, they're terrible. <<less

There are too many novels with cliché romance and harems with annoyingly useless girls. Reading them gets extremely tiring. There are too few novels with absolutely no form of romance or harem. Here are some novels I've found to not have romance/harem or have an harem/romance theme that didn't affect the plot of the novel to the point of it being annoying. 

Feel free to recommend novels that fit the criteria, arigatou^o^

P. S. I haven't read all the novels in this list so I might not be accurate in judging them. And there are some I've read but didn't finish and the novel ended up having romance or harem elements in a later chapter, please feel free to correct me anytime you see that I wasn't accurate. most of the Novel i Read are Martial Arts, Harem, Alchemy, Shounen etc. but there are also different genre. 

Some people will like it, some people will hate it, some people will be thinking "what an idiot" or "waste of time" and yes you are absolultly right, but i really enjoyed the Novels, wayne how bad there are because it was never boring on my Nightshifts or when i was on a trip. <<less

A few hidden gems ... others not so much but all of them totally worth the read. List spans quite a few genre such as Fantasy, sci-fi, cultivation, management, mystery.... more>>

Not all novels in the list will have top ratings. In my opinion the best novels are rated around 3.2 - 4.5. Anything over is mostly BL or FL with some exceptions. Anything below is mostly tr*sh with minor exceptions of novels for people with very specific taste. 

PS: All my recommendations are based on MTL. I rarely read human translated versions ..  <<less
