Got bored, so I figured I'd make a list of some of my favourite novels. They're not ranked in any particular order, though the ones I like more will probably be nearer the beginning of the list. ... more>>

Most of these novels will no doubt be familiar, it's unlikely for there to be any hidden gems here. This isn't really meant to be a list of recommendations, more of just me wanting to put some thoughts down regarding novels I like. That being said, if you want to read them (if you haven't already) because of this list that's your prerogative.

I just noticed the somewhat obvious lack of KR and JP novels. Nothing against them, I just don't like the endings for most KR novels, or I just haven't finished them. I'm not that big a fan of JP novels either, dunno why.

A small generic reminder: This list is just my personal opinion, I cannot guarantee that all (if any) of these are any good, and I encourage anyone who decides to read them to form your own opinion on them. <<less

10/10 - Complete masterpiece, personal favorite. Not flawless but as close to perfection as possible.

9/10 - Masterpiece. Slight flaws here and there, but a fantastic novel.

8/10 - Very good. Not quite a masterpiece, but close.

7/10 - Good. Has flaws but they don't drag the novel down too much.

6/10 - Decent. Somewhat significant issues or poor writing but still overall not bad.

5/10 - Average. Satisfactory story but likely not particularly innovative, pretty generic, and has plenty of problems.

4/10 - Somewhat bad. Slightly poor story, large flaws and low innovation. Still readable.

3/10 - Bad. The story is bad, or the characters are bad, it is very generic, or there are very big issues. Or all four.

2/10 - Terrible. Almost unreadable, the story is completely riddled with issues and is deeply frustrating.

1/10 - Unreadable. 

X - Unfinished, will probably never finish. The novel is probably too boring or has fallen off to an extreme degree, to the point where I can't even bring myself to finish it. Some of these novels might pick up later and become really good, but currently, they're terrible. <<less

Rankings are totally random. It's gonna be updated. It's still a new list so bear with me. If you don't see the chapters don't worry, novelupdates... they don't upload unofficial translations. Use novelfull or noveltop for reading, they're anti "webnovel" web sites, or other similar websites.
"Preferably" Chaotic Neutral and Lawful Evil MCs. Male MC only. Hate IET novels except for the Stellar Transformations as it was my first novel. Hate cheap faceslapping and arrogant youngmasters. This is a forbidden territory for The Desolate Era lovers.. go away. Chinese & Korean novels only. As everyone knows, there are two different perspectives for a novel review. The true, detailed analysis and the one that is based on personal opinion. The novels on this list, are all selected after detailed analyses, not personal opinion. They all (seriously) are quality works but you might not like them. It depends on your taste. There are too many novels with cliché romance and harems with annoyingly useless girls. Reading them gets extremely tiring. There are too few novels with absolutely no form of romance or harem. Here are some novels I've found to not have romance/harem or have an harem/romance theme that didn't affect the plot of the novel to the point of it being annoying.

P. S. I haven't read all the novels in this list so I might not be accurate in judging them. And there are some I've read but didn't finish and the novel ended up having romance or harem elements in a later chapter, please feel free to correct me anytime you see that I wasn't accurate. SSS - it was incredibly interesting for me to read, I consider it an excellent work, the shortcomings do not strike my eye.

SS - it was very interesting for me to read, I consider it a good work, some shortcomings are striking.

S - I was very interested in reading, the work may be shit, but I was interested in something and did not want to pay attention to the shortcomings.

A - it was interesting for me to read, I think the work is at least normal, there may be many flaws.

B - it was interesting for me to read, it may be shit, there are many shortcomings, but I ignore some.

C - it was a little interesting for me to read, I think the works are shit, there are a lot of shortcomings.

Estimates can be corrected and specified. The meaning can be distorted due to translation.

Although imo the most correct classification would be: what I finished reading was interesting to me at that moment, and what I never finished reading was not. <<less

First of all, let's just say I'm a lover of all genres - be it wuxia, space operas, comedy, quick transmigration or yaoi, I've dabbled in them all. There are some I consider absolute masterpieces, and some I find utterly boring/ridiculous (though the author's and the translator's efforts should always be noted). Nonetheless, there are certain characteristics associated with the word 'quality' that I am partial to:... more>>

1, Logical. The novel needs not be completely realistic (it's a novel after all), but the plot and character design should be relatable to, if not closely mirroring real life people's actions and behaviors. For example, face-slapping is a popular element in many stories, but if a random heiress suddenly feels jealous and throws her whole life away to bully the MC, that's a no no.

2, Unique/original to a certain extent. Cliches can be utilized, but to an appropriate level only.

3, The MC is intelligent and reasonable (and composed - this one is my personal preference).

4, Let me just add this - readable translation, no MTL grammar-demolishing content. <<less

3. Writing must be consistent, coherent and engaging and the ending must at least not be sh!t. Clichés to a point are fine however it needs to be purposeful & executed well.
