I tend to prefer rational, antihero type protags so there may be a bit more evil ones in the list. I am also incredibly picky, so I can vouch for the quality of every single novel in this list.

To be fair, i am not actually a fan of light novel. but, there are still some gems in this site that i genuinely like. Novels on this list are mostly korea and china, since i really hate jp light novel and their troupe (harem, boring generic op MC, forgettable world building,...). if you can find some good jp ln, please tell me. Just a warning that i have not read any of them for a while, as my reading habits have shifted to english webnovels, so i may be quite biased here and seeing some of them through rose tinted glasses. This also means that many good novels are missing from this list, a mistake i hope to eventually correct when i start reading eastern novels again.

While not all of them may be actually good, i still recommend to give them a try.

I have carefully selected works here that, though they may heavily differ in genre, style, prose, narration, and many other such basic elements, are all intrinsically well-polished and of good quality.

Now it is only fair that I forewarn you that, seeing as I am an older person and an avid book reader, the stories that I have chosen to include in this list will usually tend to be deeper, more mature works instead of lighter, more incoherent drama. 

The list is not in any particular order, it was simply made as a pure whimsical product of my uncoordinated attempt at listing novels that I enjoy.

If you are looking for works to read casually and not invest yourselves in the story or take time trying to infer the underlying meanings the author has cleverly hidden in plain sight, look elsewhere. <<less

Not in any sort of particular order. 
I have added my commentary and reasoning as to why it deserves to be on this list.

Here are also other novels that are not available on novel updates:

Shadow s*ave: A fresh take on normal WN-like worldbuilding, bringing together in my opinion Korean vibes with western fantasy. There is a clear grand theme that the novel is working towards, which is slowly revealed throughout the novel and offers a detective type feeling of awe when a big secret is revealed. The stakes are high, and every reveal feels super grand. The people are real, or at the very least they stick to their characters and motivations. The author describes the feats of the characters extremely well. Like, I feel that MC is a genius, but other characters are absolutely no slouches. I am amazed by the authors ability to describe their supernatural though processes and tactics. I have never read Berserk, but I feel like the author took inspiration from that on how to properly describe a hopeless situation, and still end up coming on top, which happens often. Deserved hype.
