In real life, this is probably equivalent to POCs (specifically southeast asians and black people) being head over heels for a white person's 'white-ness'. There are some scenes (*cough* FL's attempts at flirting with ML *cough*) that make my hands and feet shrivel up in embarrassment but it's all in good humor. Bonus points because FL's relationship with her parents are wholesome and aren't the kind where you wish they'd burn in a ditch.
