BL that made an impression on me

Idk how to tag on this thing. Basically BL that either have good storylines or I can still remember reading after a few months lol (and go through a lot of them in 'a few months') -- I'm not here just cause the characters are cute and this list is not created for like idk fluff only. If I haven't added a review quote thing, it's cause I'm doing this at 00:00 and I should sleep and there is no time for me to do anymore.

Also a lot on this list will be 'completed' because I go through these so quickly if they aren't completed chances are I'll forget about them. However, occasionally I will pick up something incomplete and may add it to this list if it's good.

This story isn’t actually THAT amazing in my opinion. Is it good? Yes and that’s why it’s on this list. However, the comments and reviews on this story made it seem a lot better than it actually is for me. In fact it was the sheer intimidation I received from the comments which originally made me reluctant to start this novel in the first place. But BASICALLY: is it good? Yes, it’s definitely worth the read (if this is the sort of story you enjoy) it just isn’t as amazing as some of the reviews make it out to be. It’s not perfect, I certainly did not make this novel my ‘bible’ and I’ve definitely read better novels. The story itself is surprisingly pretty consistent in some aspects and I have to admit, for a fast transmigration novel, it’s probably one of the best I’ve read. However, I haven’t read that many fast transmigration novels because they aren’t my cup of tea.

In terms of the MC and ML’s relationship, it was cute enough however it wasn’t a relationship which had me screaming and wishing I had.

The different ‘worlds’ like most fast transmigration novels was somewhat repetitive. It’s not EXTREMELY obvious and it definitely didn’t render the novel boring (for me) but it did follow a pattern of ‘MC being put in character with somewhat unfavourable circumstances before turning everything around cause MC OP’

I can’t help but feel like the author came up with a genius prompt and didn’t do it justice. Similarly to ‘My husband is suffering from terminal illness’ one of the only issues I had with this novel is that instead of bringing round the concept of ‘grey area’ the author just straight up turned many of the protagonists into horrible people. Arguably this introduces the concept of ‘no one is perfect’ however there was no need to turn the protagonists into people THIS BAD. Often, this pattern of turning the protagonists into straight up bad people just made room for many inconsistencies which is why I initially said this novel is consistent only in SOME aspects.

Overall however there are no major issues with this novel and I understand why people love it so much. It’s an enjoyable light read and the stories are fast paced and therefore doesn’t leave room for much boredom.

I found ‘an honest review’ amidst all the screaming in the comments of this novel and I can’t help but agree with many of the things they point out. Of course I don’t agree 100% because we’re both individuals with our own likes and dislikes. One thing I’d like to point out however it, the commenter mentioned disliking the MC’s selfishness and I can’t help but agree. I’m normally ok with selfishness as it’s understandable to be selfish but I didn’t like it in this context. [SLIGHT SPOILER] I’m not particularly fond of selfishness which results in majorly disrupting or possibly destroying other’s lives. [SPOILER] What if Orr Asai’s (I can’t spell) family were actually good people? And even tho they aren’t, the MC still deprived them of the opportunity to send Orr off. The MC basically hijacked another person’s body to give to the ML and that sorta bothers me. Even more, if the MC did end up ‘resurrecting’ Orr instead of giving the ML a physical body would he really kill Orr?

I said there are no major issues OVERALL and I also said it was worth the read if you enjoy this sort of story BUT, I still can’t wrap my head around WHY IT HAS SO MANY GOOD REVIEWS. This is also part of the reason as to why I left such a long comment for this novel. I just don’t understand. I haven’t and won’t say it’s horrible or super boring because frankly I’ve read a lot worse but I will say: I personally think there are many other novels which deserve these ratings more than this novel. <<less

I… haven’t finished this novel yet. I’m a little bit over halfway and I decided to add it to this list anyways. Normally I’d only add a novel to this list once I’ve caught up with all the updates or have finished the entire novel. However, I’m not even sure when I’ll finish this. Normally a 100 chapter novel would take me about 2-4 days depending on the length of the chapters and how busy/free I am but with this one I’m genuinely not sure. Although the narration style, the characters and the settings aren’t in anyway alike, reading this novel really reminded men of ‘Peach Blossom Debt’. I guess it’s the pacing or the helplessness before hope - after all they’re both quite motivating stories.

Reading this novel, I’ve been forced to face a multitude of conflicting feelings and thoughts. It’s a short (shorter than a lot of novels on here) story that narrates many character’s growth. It shows change and moving on and despair and hope and loss and- so much more. It’s inexplicably realistic. Not the same ‘realistic’ I use to describe other novels when a set of events and the character’s choices make sense, rather ‘realistic’ in the sense that is REALLY does seem to be following the story of a group of people who exists in our world. To me, this created a strange sense of attachment but at the same time detachment. I felt like I could relate to the characters on a realistic level but because they felt so real, I couldn’t help but also feel like I couldn’t relate because they too are their own individuals.

Feelings aside, the novel (so far) really is of amazing quality. I’m not saying it’s perfect, after all there really isn’t anything void of imperfections, but it really is quite amazing. It’s a pretty slow paced novel and I understand if this makes it boring for some people but for me, the detail was a necessity. It wouldn’t be as realistic otherwise. The storyline itself was intriguing and it really did show growth. I particularly liked how obvious it was that the characters constantly affected and changed those around them — it reflected how in society, we constantly sway and influence those around us as they sway and influence us. I liked how there was change and how unexpected things occurred (tho realistic unexpected things) because it portrayed how life is unpredictable and even those who spent 10, 20, 30 even or more years smooth sailing, will eventually face difficulties. It even touched upon stereotypes and many people may have issues with that but I felt it only added to the realism. No one is perfect, each of the characters had their flaws and it’s clear. Even side characters had their flaws — flaws are realistic.

Like I said, realistic.

I’m not going to comment on the ML and MC’s relationship because I don’t think I’ve reached a point in the story where I can.

As for why I’m not sure when I’ll be able to finish this, welp, I have an issue which means I’m often swayed and affected emotionally by the things around me. This is so realistic for me I can practically feel the stress and confusion each character feels for myself. This novel isn’t ‘dog-blooded’ nor is it angsty in a sense, but it’s strangely heavy. It’s always the most humanly realistic novels that crush me the most. <<less
