The Horror Movie Male Lead’s Winter

Guan Ling was now 30 years old.

Six years after his debut, he won an award for his performance and made a lot of money. He was also married to someone for these past seven years. According to reason, he should be the object of envy for everyone.

It was a pity……

The award-winning work was a horror movie and the male lead character he played was a bloodstained one-eyed zombie. Therefore, even if he swaggered around the streets, there was still no one who would recognize him.

Since he had been introduced to the entertainment industry by a famous director, his salary was fairly high. If the money he had earned in those six years were to accumulate, it would make a total of eight-figures. Unfortunately, there was no opportunity for the money to accumulate. It would disappear into thin air almost as soon as it entered his bank account. It was all given away to his lover as funds to pour into that bottomless hole-like company.

As for the lover to whom he had been married for seven years…… Guan Ling glanced up and expressionlessly read the small line of words on the computer screen——

“The difference between the passionate love period and the indifferent period is that when you touched his hair, his XX would stand up but now you touch his XX, and his hair stands up.”

Oh, man! Guan Ling pressed the power button right away and the text in front of him disappeared instantly. He sighed in relief and silently threw himself onto the empty bed.

What an inspiring story. I've been a bit tired of the face-slapping novels where the hard working spouse gets dumped by their partner once the partner gets successful with the spouse's love and support. Those stories rarely show why that original relationship, which inspired so much supportive passion, is worse than the subsequent relationship the spouse develops with their "true" love. Many people marry and devote themselves to someone who they have genuine emotions for, especially when that relationship developed before either of them were influenced by success. Wouldn't a... more>> smart person realize that this early relationship is a more sincere one than those developed with people attracted by financial success? Shouldn't they be clinging to their early love because this person has proven their love by sticking by them through all the tough times?

This story seemed much more realistic, where a marriage is falling apart not because of a lack of love, but because the couple have forgotten to work on their relationship and make it a priority. They've gotten so comfortable with each other they've forgotten that even a comfortable relationship needs reassurance sometimes. Even a couple that know each other so well they can almost read each other's minds aren't actually psychic and need to translate their thoughts into words sometimes.

I thought this short story was much more mature in the message and way it handled the couple. It's a story for people in a long term relationship, showing them that love isn't just the excitement of meeting someone compatible, but making that compatibility last. <<less

Bitter and cute story.. it is just as the summary, it is about marriage, relationship struggle, and "Seven year itch". Their relationship has being tested so much: misunderstandings, work, disease/virus, jealousy, gossip, low-self esteem, time management...

The story makes you want to get married or be in relationship because of the all the sweetness, and at same time not getting married because of all the pain ewwwh. BUT I am sure the joys will overpower the pain or sacrifices.

And again It is no sacrifice, just a simple word...

Anyway I liked it,... more>> it is cute! Happy holidays guys and merry Christmas *kiss* *kiss

PS: is this SEVEN year itch even real?? got me all scared hahaa anyway..... <<less

Wow.

Short it may be, we see how a successful marriage takes so much more than doting and love.

Actually, there are other healthy BL CPs here in NU too but let's be real, most CPs (even the popular ones) have some sort of imbalance between them, and some level of unhealthy dynamics.

Reading a CP like this felt not only sweet, but also refreshing, like the cool feeling of fresh, clean, early morning air.

This is easily one of my favorite types of BL novels.

The MC and ML communicates with one another to solve misunderstandings and the story itself is very heartwarming. The side characters are supportive of the MC and ML's relationship, so there is no unnecessary drama. I especially like how mature and steadfast the MC is with his thought process: if his relationship with the ML works out, perfect, but if it doesn't, then the MC is willing to learn to let go and revert back to the singlehood lifestyle.

Overall, I... more>> love myself some mature characters that actually communicates with people. <<less

I must say, I didn't plan to write a review. But the book was so beautifully written and the first three chapters were so full of angst mixed with fluff that I didn't know whether I was supposed to cry, smile or laugh. In the end I did all three. It's a short story and doesn't take much of you time so read it, you won't regret it. The author herself, is married and she focused on the 'seven year itch', the supposed year which determines the future of ones... more>> marriage. One of her author notes was really interesting to read, it was about an incident that happened between her, her husband and her family. One part that left me laughing on the ground was this:

Spoiler

Xiao Cheng’s eyes seemed to blaze with anger. He didn’t even look at Guan Ling. He slightly c*cked his head towards Jiang Nian’s side instead to ask, “Can you fight?”

Jiang Nian was already very angry when she heard Qi Tongrui’s words, so when she heard Xiao Cheng’s question, she immediately understood his meaning. She opened the door of the dressing room and rushed inside.

By the time Guan Ling regained his senses, the two women were already in the middle of a scuffle inside.

I died. This Guan Ling protection squad have me on my knees.

All in all this book was a wonderful read and I look forward for this author's future works. Also kudos to the translation team, they did a wonderful job. <<less

A very sweet novel on how important communication and reconciliation is.

MC loves ML. ML loves MC. However the adult life with other responsibilities comes between them. All they needed was a day of sitting and talking and a night of hot bed stuff to come back to their honeymoon phase.

Book - 5/5

The story is quite simple, but it's written oh so beautifully.

I'm such an avid fan of this kind of slice-of-life, mature leads, and balanced couple story. And this short novel really not disappoint.

Both MC and ML has such a good character. They love each other. But relationship is not all time rainbow. After time passes it will slow down and need more than just love to maintain it. I'm glad they resolve it in such mature way.

I’m not married sadly, but this novel depicts a future that I want in my potential relationship. A bond that doesn’t deteriorate with time but one that seeks to grow & strengthen. It’s short & I’m so sad to have read it so fast, but I truly love how it touches on the topic of that cursed “seven year itch”. Maybe it’s me that’s a sucker for the idea of a couple rekindling feelings. The novel leaves a lot to ponder over in regards to what I think is essential... more>> to having a healthy, long-lasting relationship. <<less

4.0/5*

The first few chapters were sad, so prepare some tissues just in case or don't read in public. I loved the first few chapters A LOT, but then got a bit disappointed when author suddenly had to rely on dumb villain, dog blood and face slapping to get the plot going (-1 point deduction).

Not that I can't enjoy this kind of trope, on the contrary, but it was just that I didn't expect it here. I thought it was a different kind of story due to the first few chapters.... more>> Now, it became one out of many and no longer stand out that much. It was still an enjoyable read though. <<less

Short and sweet. Takes less than an hour to read all 17 chapters.

MC and ML love each other but life gets in the way and they slowly start to grow distant; after the honeymoon phase passes, love becomes more than an emotion, it becomes a choice that we have to consciously work towards. I think this short novel does a good job at illustrating that fact.

It was alright. The angst can make you cry and the couple showed how important it is to introspect and communicate in order to make the relationship work out after long years of being together.

What I did not foresee --- ... more>>
Spoiler

was instead of focusing on each other, the story twisted up so badly it needed cannonfodders in order to show the world how much they love each other. It was kinda disappointing to add brainless characters (one apparently an Ivy League graduate with attitude problems and one a renowned CEO) to show how they "made it work". *Sighs* oh well~ I gave a three-star rating because it delivered what it should nad made me feel things... Sadly it fell off somewhere down the middle.

A definite satisfying read! Author managed to convey so so much thoughts about marriage and relationship in such a short novel. This really opens my eyes that marriage is not something to be scared of.

Anyhow, the MC and ML relationship is really sweet and mutual. They’re so balanced although they experienced a little fallout along the way but that’s what makes it sweeter. Reading this story makes me want to get a partner and get married fast 😂

5 stars ⭐️ (i forgot to click on the rating wuwu...)

this was absolutely beautiful. too many people write about the 7-yr itch but how about whether it can be avoided? can even the most lovey-dovey and healthiest relationship experience it? the answer is yes, and this novel tells us that it's just another part of being an adult. sometimes, the timings in a relationship get off track even if you meet the right person at the right time. but that's what matters, right? that they're the right person.

i... more>> sincerely appreciate how realistic this story was. the 7-yr itch isn't always as explicit as cold passive aggressiveness becoming full-blown arguments and big fights. sometimes, it's something that catches you both off guard and it slowly digs into you. and, it's not even just your fault. you both have responsibility and that's exactly how the MC and ML handled it. their relationship is healthy and sweet and they both are immature in their own ways despite acting more maturely than most of us, I'm sure haha.

Spoiler

the thing is that they're both so caught up trying to do things for the other, they forget to actually look at one another. who isn't guilty of doing that even once? the MC takes time away from the ML and runs off to another country. here, he reflects a lot on their marriage and how he feels about his spouse. the first three chapters covers this. it's a bit of running away and a bit of genuinely needing space to think to himself. the problem is he takes a little too long that it may appear as him punishing the ml. he turned off his phone for this entire duration without letting the ML know he even left. the ML was devastated. I was quite worried that the author would somehow make this into a dogblood novel scene by having MC catch ML with someone in bed but thankfully, this author is cultured and understands this isn't the right place lolol. I think the MC and the ML have traits that people would typically be annoyed by, yet, as you read, you can't help but feel for them. the author makes you understand why they're the way they are. my favorite part about this novel has to be the fact that despite them having the 7-yr itch, there was no resentment. from there, you can feel how deep their love for each other is. they're just lost, confused, and worried about the other and losing them because they can't imagine a world without them in their life. this hurt me greatly. the two have their own unresolved issues within themselves, but they know they'll be okay.

[collapse]

it's necessary to read stories like this everyone once in a while. I wouldn't call this a complaint but more of something I wished had happened: more chapters could have given the characters more space to properly and outrightly resolve their problem. however, I also understand how it's also true that in reality, things can still get in the way even when in the middle of reconciling with someone, or after. I was just hoping we could've seen them say things out loud. after all, that also seemed to be one of their problems.

Spoiler

the MC needed to hear the ML say how he felt about him more, but the ml's love language is more of physical affection, proving his feelings with actions rather than words.

[collapse]

meanwhile, I wish we could have seen how MC grows more secure within their relationship after faltering a bit. otherwise, this is still one of my favorite reads!

tldr; a sweet and quick yet deep enough read about two people who love each other dearly but get lost in the middle. exquisite writing, realistic plot and relationship, excellent characterization, and good pacing. props to the author for this. I hope their marriage is still good and well! thank you to the translator for a good job on this heart-wrenching story translation, very appreciated <<less

The sweetest sweetest little story about 7-year itch after marriage, and spending more time together to rekindle their feelings. To be fair, the relationship between MC and ML are good, and it was mostly due to being busy and some minor misunderstandings that led to the initial problem. They were always very much in love. This is an idealistic view, but I felt that it was a very healing novel just to show that most relationship has it chance to recover given a little time and effort.

Novel is about "Why communication is important?"

I really hate the novels which are build upon misunderstandings which are so easy to resolve if only the couple is willing to talk it out. In such novels circumstance leads to clearing the misunderstanding and after that they realize that they should have just talked.

Even though this novel fits that category but I liked it because of its length. In it instead of stretching the to novel 100 some chapters and making it irritating, the author simply relied her thoughts in just 17... more>> chapters perfectly. All the feelings have been portrayed very well.

Recommended.

Finally Kudos to Foxaholic team for translation. I have read a few novels of their translation. Their taste is really good. <<less

So sweet it really makes want to get married lol.

I'm actually quite insecure about myself in this matter- all day long I read sweet dog food fluffy novels but I'm afraid of love. I dream of having my true love but I'm afraid to take that first step of even just meeting someone. I'm afraid of getting to know people that are potential partners. You could say I'm incredibly antisocial and introverted in this part. I'm even more afraid that I wouldn't meet "the right one". Honestly, I'm still very... more>> much afraid.... but this short story gives me a glimpse of hope...

I also worried about marriage (even tho I'm still single af). That's also one of my fears. And so this novel gave me a hope. "Hey, maybe someday I WILL find the right person for myself."

In any case this is a vent oOF sorry for dumping it on y'all who read this. I highly recommend reasing this novel!! It's not only sweet but can also be inspirational! For those peopld who dislike long nivels dw! This one is a very short story that I finished basically in one sitting.
