Often I ended up watching the drama before reading the books, which in some cases is good, some other times is actually bad as the story is more fleshed out in the drama itself.

I’m not going to give a review of the novel and/or drama it’s been adapted to, but I’m going to give a score based on how similar is the drama to the novel (and viceversa) based on what I’ve read.

These ancient Chinese historical stories not only have a satisfying romance (thus far), but they also include plots of politics and other deep topics (such as social commentary). Most* of these also have good/excellent translations and writing! Notes are included to highlight what I like (and don't exactly like) about each title. All of these have female protagonists. I have carefully selected works here that, though they may heavily differ in genre, style, prose, narration, and many other such basic elements, are all intrinsically well-polished and of good quality.

Now it is only fair that I forewarn you that, seeing as I am an older person and an avid book reader, the stories that I have chosen to include in this list will usually tend to be deeper, more mature works instead of lighter, more incoherent drama. 

The list is not in any particular order, it was simply made as a pure whimsical product of my uncoordinated attempt at listing novels that I enjoy.

If you are looking for works to read casually and not invest yourselves in the story or take time trying to infer the underlying meanings the author has cleverly hidden in plain sight, look elsewhere. <<less

The stars will show how much I enjoyed the book and at the same time I will also be adding any problems/dislikable things that I noticed (Im pretty sure i missed a lot and probably forgot a few by the time i finish making this).
