I know many people say that there are no good novels on this site, and it oftens feels like the top lists are filled with overpowered MC's, undeveloped harems, 2D characters, and lacking plots.

There are some novels that stand out, however, whether that be for their plots, characters, or translations.

Though if you are searching for harem novels and cliche titles, then i am afraid that you've come to the wrong place and should probably find another list. I dislike harems, repetitive novels and just bad novels in general. I made this list to invalidate the claims that NU doesn't contain any good novels anymore. I know the vast majority of translated works caters to the harem/anti-hero loving part of the community, but i quite frankly dislike the vast majority of titles in those genres due to how bad they are. As a result, i have created this list to include novels that IMO stand out due the excellent execution in story beats, excellent translations/localization (English primarily) and just have good characters. Mostly tragedy, but not limited to that. I like a tragedy for a good cry, not for a distressed cry. So mostly these novels aren't full of abuse just to make you cry. You will cry because you feel for the characters. 

There are fluffs and diabetes here, but like I said, mostly tragedy. 

Please read the Genre and Tags of the novel before plunging yourself into this hellhole. 

My tendencies are to seek novels in which: the CP Happy Ending is when they are together <in death>, the CP Happy Ending is when they are together <in life>, the CP is supportive of each other, or the CP building is interesting.

This is a list of all the novels that I have read with a female protagonist. Most of them have romance. Everything on this list has a happy ending of course. Some are more slice of life and some are very dramatic, but in the end these novels all left a good impression on me.... more>>

Not all the novels on this list are equally good. Some are okay, some are good, some are loved a lot. Nevertheless, I managed to complete them, so that means they're all readable.

For novels that are my absolute favourites which are those that I will reread many times, I will mark them with a "Best-Loved" award.

Some may get a "Honorable Mention" if they don't quite make it to Best-Loved, but they do stand out from the rest.

I will try my best to leave my impression of the novel in the comments. For some novels I will only say it's an enjoyable read which means for some reason or another they don't make the Best-Loved or Honorable Mentions list.

Tragedies do not always have a sad ending or bad ending. But they are always very distressing.

I don't particularly like it when the protagonist struggled so hard to overcome so many obstacles and his (or her) end is unnecessary or undeserved tragic death. (Ooooh, if a main character dies, he (or she) must die with all the glory.)

I deal with terminal illnesses well, as they are always moving stories. T-T

Oooh, pitiful love stories and regrets... When they are a very moving story, they are just worth reading.
