It's a simple story about falling in love and just showing it in small gestures. I say small gestures but He Qiao built a fricking billboard lol. It's pretty darn cute and doesn't have any melodrama or anything. I feel like Chi Xueyan feels like a pain to deal with irl though haha. I wouldn’t be able to get along with him. I really enjoyed the last few extras where the author told of their other possibilities in that original novel (the agst was so good). Also, the cute cameo of "Don't Covet the Beautiful System" eheh. If you feel like reading a soft mellow story, you would definitely enjoy this. If you want something exciting, maybe not. Author said “yeah CP is together and it’ll be super fluffy after this”. Haha yeah it was super fluffy until you made everything spiral down for them. It was really angsty near the end okay! But the healing process was written well and I appreciated it. Everything ended well in the end though I was a little unsatisfied by some loose ends. Anyway, it’s still a pretty nice hurt-comfort novel. I get that some might be uncomfortable by MC and ML’s relationship since one is a final year high schooler who doesn’t have anyone to rely on while the other is a final year student at uni (3-ish years age diff). Even MC isn't a very good person but he has his limits when taking revenge. In that sense, I liked how MC's form of revenge is mostly karma. He took a pre-existing problem and amplified it. ML was kinda eh in the beginning but I grew to somewhat like him over time. He gave MC the love he needed and accepted his revenge plots. I swear that in another world, Fang Luowei could have been the ML but it wasn't meant to be. I really wanted him to be!! So yeah, it was interesting to think from other characters' perspectives to see a bigger picture. I can't help but like Qianqian too hahaha she's entertaining. Overall, quite enjoyable. He has certainly changed a lot compared to the start but it all felt so gradual, Xiao Yu'an included. The novel tackles several issues and even the emotional struggles Xiao Yu'an faces when trying to meddle with the Ming family or Ming Shu's love for him. It's very well-thought of and it was even written as a prequel after Madness of the Heart released. It was just so lovely to read but some might find this sort of daily life stories boring. Anyway, this story was pretty wholesome and it showcases the friendship of a group of friends, some have disabilities. The story begins with MC crossdressing as his deaf sister (so he uses sign language to communicate) to attend a community meeting in her place... and there he meets ML. They get to know each other and very very smoothly fall in love. ML definitely has a hard life... He has been taking care of his grandmother (with Alzheimer's) since age 12 all alone! ... more>>

We get to know ML's struggles more in book 2 whereas book 1 was more to them falling in love + moments with other classmates. MC himself is very proactive and gives him so much support. Really, the side characters have a good amount of screen time too. So, this was just a very peaceful novel without much drama and it wasn't comedic either. Just a slice-of-life story about a guy who transmigrated into the body of a film emperor (with the same name) far in the future when Earth is basically dead. After a 5 year coma, his popularity is basically gone so... he starts to livestream his cooking lol. There was... a heck lot of cooking descriptions. Each chapter was an entire recipe or something. That is... until zerg arc where I lost all my appetite for the next... many chapters HAHAHAH. The arcs after that were pretty boring too especially the variety show ahhhh but their lovey dovey moments were pretty cute though scarce lol. The ending felt pretty abrupt. Why is their wedding description way shorter than cooking zerg meat? Anyway, there was a lot of wasted potential here like where the author could have talked about mc's transmigration, his film emperor past, his brother, the foreshadowed pet cat... A lot! So, I'm not sure how to rate this. I liked half of this novel, was okay or disliked the latter parts. Overall, a decent read! Ye Ci is now 18 so Tinglan can still make his life better. But well, there is an age gap of 12 years and though Tinglan does his best to act like a gentleman... I think I would have appreciated it more if Ye Ci weren't too embarrassed over everything... It's still a pretty cute story and I liked reading it. But I still feel like it wasted a lot of potential. I would have loved to read about the past timeline from Ye Ci's POV. The Ye Ci of the past still seemed like a mystery but I'm glad that they got a happy ending here. It's still bearable I guess but you can guess that even some sentences don't make sense based on the context. The pronouns and even names too sighhh. Well, it's not the worst.
