Here comes a longass list because I like harem. It's something I've seen many people dislike since they prefer 1-1 couples. However, I like it because even if I hate a ML or two, there's bound to be at least one other ML in the harem who might be likeable. So I'll rather see the MC get chased by the entire gay town™ than read about just one ML who could be insufferable.

For example, 'I Rely on Beauty to Stabilize the Country' has a somewhat annoying ML but because it's not a harem, you're supposed to suffer through all the paragraphs brimming with his a$$holery, and can only root for him and the MC because no other guy can ever end up with the MC. 

On the other hand, 'The Cruel Tyrant' has a similar theme — a modern dude transmigrating and carrying the responsibility of restoring a kingdom on his shoulders, but it's a harem with different kind of MLs so even if you skip the parts of some MLs you dislike, there's still around 2-3 MLs left you can enjoy reading about. That's not to say I like every harem novel or dislike every non-harem novel though, it's just that I'll like anything as long as it won't have those insufferable characters I'm forced to sit and watch.
