Really enjoyed this one! Xu Ziyue is a very fun protagonist to follow. And he caught on to being in horror games relatively quickly, all things considered (those considered things being that he didn’t know being put in a horror game was an option when he started). I think the author did a relatively good job foreshadowing the twist. The Bosses and the System say the same thing a few times, though admittedly at different times, which already hints at a connection between them. All the Bosses seem to find some pleasure in scaring Xu Ziyue, which fits with what we later learn is Shen Ci’s interest in human reactions. Shen Ci itself is great because it really is just all the Bosses rolled into one, even if we don’t spend a lot of time with it. The twist was foreshadowed, the author just didn’t foreshadow it to the point that it slaps you in the face. Author kept it subtle, and I like that.

Sun Mo: sweetest most innocentest boy. Says he had no idea how to respond while Ziyue was talking to him, and while he was trying to think of something, Ziyue changed the subject. Really a very sweet school romance, in which there is much mu*der and gore and Mo Mo also really liked watching Ziyue be scared.

Austin: the absolute best. He’s a literal mermaid. He has been in his room reading for fifty years. He meets Ziyue and is like “well. This is mine now.” Is absolutely furious that Ziyue has to leave but also says they’ll meet again. Says he’ll wait for Ziyue to woo him but keeps wooing Ziyue first. He is conniving and mischievous and he cannot stand that Mo Mo got Ziyue first. Honestly, probably my favourite.

Doll Mo: tied with Austin. He’s so! Cute! He is the sweetest lil baby boy and his ending makes me so sad!! Give him back his YueYue!! Please! He’s just a baby, a baby boy, an innocent little bean, the cutest guy, I love him!!! <<less

Tammy is just adorable and Shiloh is just the guiltiest guy. Could have been twenty times longer. 

This is such a cartoonishly fun story. Ning Yan is so dumb and so cute. Lin Rong’s crush is absolutely adorable. The side couples are very fun. My favourite character is Yanyan’s mom, Lu Ruan, who married a dog demon and is a normal human (“normal”) and is the most upset that nobody told her sooner because she didn’t get to cuddle her son as a puppy. I love that all of Yanyan’s fans know that he is a prideful, vain princess but they like him anyway. I like that Lu Ruan and Lin Rong bond over Lin Rong’s decorating. I really like that Yanyan accidentally seduces every other man or dog who meets him.... more>> This is perhaps one of the only stories where the male lead being jealous of dogs is kind of justified.

(The German shepherd patting Yanyan’s head was so cute!!! And the Border Collie giving Yanyan the crown is just super precious!!! The Shih Tzu getting patted by Yanyan and ducking her head!!! The puppies in this story are so so so so cute I just wanted to squeal) <<less

Ji Xuan… He’s just… he’s just a lil guy… I want him to be happy, he’s finally happy, let him be happy!! Lookit him!! He’s learning to be patient and care about Ye Jia’s feelings!! He’s trying so hard to be a good bf, he’s doing great!! I’m so proud of him!!

The side characters are also great (Chen Qingye is just the bestest boy), but Ye Jia and Ji Xuan deserve all the good things. Ye Jia repeatedly claiming that he won’t fall for Ji Xuan’s cute act and then immediately falling for Ji Xuan’s cute act. Ji Xuan being willing to turn into absolutely anything, from a five-year-old to a voluptuous woman, as long as Ye Jia stays with him. It’s so sad and also funny but mostly sad… ;-; If the ending hadn’t been happy, I would’ve cried <<less

Qin JiaShu is the most conniving, black-hearted man, but you know what? He worked really hard to seduce his man by acting like a stereotypical rich villainess straight out of a nineties romance drama, and I’m very proud of him for managing it.

Their relationship is adorable. They laugh together and tease each other and ChuChu never thinks even once that JiaShu would cheat on him. Qin JiaShu’s mother meeeting his boyfriend for the first time and immediately thinking he was tricked… Qin JiaShu’s father asking what ChuChu likes about his son, only for ChuChu to immediately say “At first, I lusted after his body”… ChuChu being asked how to write Benzine in science and responding with the characters making it up…

ChuChu is precious and I just wanted to pinch his cheeks and he worked so hard to improve his English grade and it made me cry because he just didn’t get it my poor baby I lov ihm- <<less

I loved this one. Cai Cai is trying so hard to be the worst, but he is too cute to be convincing. He falls in love hard and his type is just big guys who remind him of dogs and he has face blindness (which I can relate hardcore to ngl) and he’s just the best. Mu Qing. Mu. Qing. I love this guy. He is sleeping. He is a literal gosh dang planet. He falls for a cute guy and spends the first two scenarios holding onto his last shreds of self control. I love how Mu Qing shows his love!!! He doesn’t force Cai Cai, he NEVER forces Cai Cai! He always asks for Cai Cai’s opinion and he likes when Cai Cai pets his head and he is a big spoiled puppy dog who tugged an entire planet (his (celestial) body) along because he wanted to live on Earth with Cai Cai and he hates seeing Cai Cai upset and he can never stay mad at Cai Cai and he is such a simp for his boyfriend I swear-

This story is hilarious. Mu Qing constantly saying he’ll eat anything Mu Cai can’t, and then actually managing to, to Cai Cai’s amazement, because he is a planet and he doesn’t actually technically have a stomach. I loved all of the author’s notes at the ends.

I thought Consort Li was my favourite, but I have a soft spot for Pei Jingyun just because his love rival is his own nephew. I also really liked how Gu Yunchen was handled, because he actually apologizes for treating Mu Cai poorly and he tries so hard to make up for everything. Claire is just great, because despite the setting being A/B/O, Claire never uses his instincts as an excuse to do anything. Claire is a gentleman of the highest standard, and I don’t blame Cai Cai for falling for him. Qin Zhongjin is great, because he just carries Cai Cai around wherever they go and he would have been happy even if they never had s*x. In fact, Mu Cai had to initiate, Zhongjin was willing to just stay beside him. Li Yu is the funniest one, because he’s the only Mu Qing younger than Mu Cai (technically) and he is having an absolute time. The author refers to him as Consort Li in the notes and I love him so much. As previously mentioned, Pei Jingyun’s nephew was his love rival. But, Pei Jingyun was also his own love rival, since he doesn’t know he’s Mu Qing and he is absolutely furious. But, he is also loving and kind still because all of Mu Qing’s forms have the patience of ten thousand saints.

Mu Qing is the best. He increases gravity so that Mu Cai can’t be taken away. He tries to manipulate Mu Cai and is completely fine with being called out, and he does not feel even slightly guilty. He eats whatever Mu Cai can’t finish. He picks his own name to be Mu Qing because of sappy word definitions. He is burning hot, so I have to assume he has a molten core (literally speaking). He extorts the government. He comes across as naive and innocent but he is sly and cunning and also naive and he’s just a big ol puppy and I love him- <<less

I love this so much. I laughed so hard throughout, I absolutely adored every minute. From Jiang Luo blaming all of life’s problems on Chi... more>> You (“f*ckin Chi You”) to the crystal ball to the way Chi You and Jiang Luo just continuously try to kill each other before ultimately falling in love - it’s great. Jiang Luo and Chi You are the perfect couple, two peas in a pod, soulmates, they just fit each other like gloves, it’s amazing. The side characters are fun too and the mysteries are interesting. Great story, 10/10, Chi You is the absolute worst and I love him with all of my heart. <<less

Rue is the best male lead. He is absolutely obsessed. He’s been watching her for fourteen years. He’s been waiting for her for a century. He has a gallery of photos of only her. He tells her he wants to chew her up. He drops severed heads on her bed. He’s a literal god who decided to pretend to be a chef/gardener for a random viscount just to bother her.

They’re the perfect couple.

Highlights:

Daisy’s dream Natasha saying that she’ll figure out a loophole to marry Andert even if Andert is a woman.

Daisy catching something tossed to her in her mouth because she couldn’t use her hands.

Daisy being the most cold, awkward person on the planet until she’s a man, after which she becomes a handsome devil.

Rue. Just in general. 

Dian Cecht. He’s only in the story very briefly, but he owns my heart and I will fight anyone who bullies him because he is perfect and littol and just the cutest lil guy and- <<less

I loved it. The face slapping was extremely satisfying, the romance between Pei Yi and Bo Yueming was very sweet as they learn and grow together, and Li Yuan deserves everything and I legit teared up reading some parts because he is just a little guy and he is so good and earnest and awkward and I love him and I’m so glad he ended up with Yan Cen, I’m so happy for him, I would read just his and Yan Cen’s romance if possible because I just want him to be happy-... more>>

The female characters were also great. And I liked that a few characters grew and changed over the course of the story, recognizing their mistakes and owning up to them and apologizing and feeling embarrassed over them. Most of the people aren’t evil, just misguided, and the truly evil and cruel characters are dealt with. It’s very warming to read the characters who admit their mistakes and take steps towards making up for those mistakes.

I also loved Pei Yi’s dads. They loved each other a lot. They fell apart and they both recognized that they hurt each other and Pei Yi. Zong Baiyan is my favourite. He feels so guilty and he tries to look for Pei Yi and he’s just the most tsun-tsun little guy and he loves his husband and son so much. He sees Xu Rong again and just hugs him because he’s so happy to see him again and he missed him so much and he was ready to die to see him again. I’m glad they got a second chance.  <<less

The romance between Lin Wei Xi and Gu Hui Yan was just beautiful. He is absolutely smitten with her from day one, even if he doesn’t know it. She is the little kitten he brought home out of the rain. She is a tiny baby puppy who bites everyone including him (especially him) and he only wants to pat her head and praise her for managing to draw blood. He gets his first hobby in his entire depressing life and it’s just watching his little wife. He watches her do her hair even when it takes so long, and he’s just happy the whole time??? Yan Wang is truly the husband of all time. He... more>> just wants to pat her head and squish her face and listen to her scold people. He also couldn’t help but to sleep with her, it’s strongly implied, every night he was in her vicinity.

I love this man. Gao Xi finally gets everything she deserves and more. Gu Hui Yan finally gets to marry a woman he actually loves. They are so happy by the end. It makes me very content. <<less

When I was put into daycares as a kid, I always thought it was my fault that I couldn’t fit in. The adults never cared when the other kids bullied me, they never helped me when I was confused, and I thought maybe I was in the wrong. 

But, this story says that it isn’t the child’s fault. Children need love and care, even if there are a lot of children in one place. Children deserve to be coddled and taken care of, and to have someone stand up for them when they’re bullied or wipe their tears when their sad. Even if the child goes to dozens of different daycares and each one is a failure, it isn’t a failure on the child’s part. It’s the failure of the adults who should care more.

The story also says that a parent putting their kid in daycare isn’t a parent who doesn’t love their child. Especially in this world, where the daycares double as kindergartens. Just because a parent puts their child in a daycare doesn’t mean that they love their child any less. Even the parents who don’t know how to show that they love their child, that doesn’t mean that they don’t love their kid. 

I know there are a lot of complaints about Xie Luan being a mary-sue and overpowered and Ya Yi being too young and all that, but I disagree with these complaints. We only really see Xie Luan when he’s taking care of the cubs. He stays calm and collected and loving because that’s how a caretaker should be. He isn’t a perfect person-the author goes out of their way to explain that he isn’t actually that good of a cook. Everyone is used to eating the equivalent of energy drinks, of course food made with fresh ingredients taste so good to them. The author also explains that Xie Luan is too lazy to shift his emotions, thus why he’s so calm at the very beginning. By the end, he’s just used to them and so stays calm because he has experience. He’s too lazy to get upset about things. The author states this very clearly. The cubs recognize people’s intentions, in a similar way to real life, and him being so unflappable is what draws the cubs to him. This is proven by the fact that the other caretakers are treated better once they follow his example and calm down. Yes, the cubs like Xie Luan most, but that’s just because he dotes on them and encourages them and was the first person to treat some of the cubs this well.

As for Ya Yi. He was in an egg for thirty years, and he experienced emotions and had awareness throughout that period. Even if the author didn’t clearly state that noxes develop faster than other species, Ya Yi has been conscious for thirty years. I’m sorry, but he’s over thirty. I don’t care what anyone says.

All in all, the story made me almost explode with how cute it was, and it made me cry when the cubs were treated so well for the first time. The romance is very sweet, and Ya Yi is only ever jealous of himself. Even when babies interupt him, he calms down. He lets Gale and Nick both treat him as their parent, and he doesn’t care when Xie Luan has all of his attention on cubs. It’s sweet and Ya Yi is so supportive and Ya Yi gave Xie Luan ten million money because he didn’t want it and I just like Ya Yi a lot. <<less

Ye Zexi is such a good mc. He’s very dumb and very cute, I like him a lot. He Jinyun is my favourite type of character!! He’s cold and distant on the outside but just wants to be spoiled and doted on on the inside!! I love this type of character, especially as the top!! I feel that the people who reviewed this book expected there to be some drama or whatnot. There isn’t any, not really. But, it isn’t tagged with drama??? The “schemes and conspiracies” tag must be misleading people, the scheming and conspiring ends very early. It’s a heartwarming story about two men who have never been in love before because of their intense focus on their careers falling in love with each other and learning and growing together. It’s very relaxing to read, it made me very happy.

(The “forced living arrangements” tag baffles me, like??? Where?? Who was forced to live somewhere they didn’t want to?? What is this referring to?? I read the story in a few days in my free time, did I just miss that part?)

Also, the story features the most tsundere-iest of all tsundere character, Ye Jianbin. Even before mc transmigrated over, this guy really went “My s*upid idiot son wants to go on some s*upid idiot show. Hmph. I’ll supply the whole location for them to shoot and work at, and I’m invensting millions of dollars.” He’s so!! “He Jinyun wants to marry MY son?? He isn’t good enough! Yes, he’s rich and talented and considered a film emperor and is very loving and caring, but he isn’t good enough!!!1! …the wedding has to be perfect, and I will make sure that it is by booking only the best location.” Come on. I love this dude. He’s adorable. He’s like fifty and doesn’t know how to show affection. Cute~ <<less

Ah I liked Ye Zi a lot. He’s just a baffled little tree guy. He is just a little plant. He is so dumb sometimes, but he’s just a little guy, I can’t even be mad. My favourite part is when he agrees not to tease Gu Yan anymore, and then immediately starts thinking of ways to tease Gu Yan. 

Little Sparrow was also cute… He wants to be the husband!! Even if he married Gu Xuan as a woman, I’m pretty sure he still would have insisted that he was the husband, Gu Xuan already said so, he promised! I love Gu Xuan falling in love with a literal birdbrain pfft <<less

These two are unhealthily codependent on each other and can’t spend even fifteen minutes apart without feeling lonely and I absolutely love it.... more>>

I really liked Lu Shi. He is another cold man who craves to be spoiled, only he goes a step further and craves to handcuff Chu Yu to himself and never let him go. Chu Yu, the absolute madlad, doesn’t mind, and even finds it romantic. They are perfectly written for each other. <<less

There are some parts that are just… so funny. Li Jinyu is the funniest protagonist of all time. He took two baths after his and Huo Caiyu’s first time together, because he was afraid he would get pregnant with a litter of hamsters. He gets really excited every time he thinks Huo Caiyu’s going to finally take advantage of the situation and usurp him. Literally everyone asks him, “Aren’t you worried that the Prince Regent that you appointed and have given all this power to will usurp you?” And his response is invariably: “I hope he does.”... more>>

I love this guy. He is just a tiny little guy who doesn’t understand what “sleeping together” means for over half the story. He gets really attached to Dumpling, despite claiming that he would not. He tells Dumpling, a hamster, to try and be more like Huo Caiyu. He accidentally improves the country because he wants it to be easier for Huo Caiyu to rule over. I love him so much. His main concern with being pregnant with hamsters was how he would explain it to Huo Caiyu! He’s so naive I love him! <<less

The best part is Xie Xun and Jiang Ningbao’s relationship. They love each other so much, it’s very sweet. The early chapters of their engagement had me literally blushing, and I love how they evolve from Ningbao teasing her fiance to Xie Xun teasing his wife. ... more>>

Also, the fact that he tried really, really hard to only do things at night, because he thought he couldn’t do things during the day, only to change his mind like a month in. Day and night, I tell you, they’re nuts. I was completely unsurprised by the number of children they ended up with.  <<less

Su Yang is immensely adorable and honestly terrible at acting, just in general. Gu Feidi is the most understanding and patient yet rabid puppy dog of a boy ever. Their relationship is so sweet, even the painful parts are tinged with sugar, it’s all very romance~ ... more>>

I love Su Huaizhu. Best guy ever. Saddest guy ever. He is just a lil guy living in a big world that f*cking hates his guts and wants him dead. Literally saved his boyfriend from a date r*pe bug and was punished for twenty years for it. Mother of his child literally carved a curse into the flesh of their child, and he couldn’t even bring himself to hurt the kid because it was just a baby. Just… Su Yang is worried about him and he has no idea what’s going on. Su Huaizhu’s relationship with Gu Ruohai is so depressing and painful and just made me want to cry because they care each other!!! When Su Huaizhu says something like “I shouldn’t have expected you to wait for me” my face was literally that crying, screaming kitten like oh my god Huaizhu I wish I could give you a hug.

Loved nonbinary icon Chi Tong and their relationship with their disciple who has no sense of presence and is easily lost. I love Luo Ying. He was one of the disciples, and nobody noticed him until the end. He is just… there. Gets to be king and marry a princess, good for him!

Also really like Luo Yu. He is bitter and angy and does NOT want to help ANYONE because everyone DISAPPOINTS HIM. Finds out about Su Yang’s curse and immediately questions everything and feels super guilty and regrets not doing more and I love this sad loner boy. His relationship with Qin Jiangyue is also very funny. Qin Jiangyue is just his big ol bodyguard who also just so happens to be a prince that deserted the capital. Boyfriends :)

I like the cousins, Pu Lingyun and Xu Yunzhan. Lingyun and Fan Xi, Yunzhan and Huo Ying. The token straights. Lingyun is forced to be reasonable, hate it here :(

All in all, pretty good. Happy ending was nice. If Su Huaizhu hadn’t gotten a happy ending, I would have staged a coup. 10/10 <<less

I love this couple. Song Jinxing, the saddest little guy in the whole world who uncaringly tears people apart, and Zhog Ruanxing, the biggest optimist who would rather die let take someone take advantage of her. Them swapping bodies is so cute, the way they both learn to care about each other and fall in love with each other for the other’s personality and actions rather than appearance. They’re both good-looking, so them falling for each other’s souls is really, really sweet. Jinxing’s backstory made me actually cry, this poor kid who was abandoned by everyone and cut himself off from the rest of the world learning to be happy and love again. The way... more>> he’s so uncomfortable at first with Ruanxing’s family, only to begin to love them like his own family and think about them and care about them. He’s so cute, he’s so gentle, he’s just a big ol softy hidden beneath ten thousand miles of ice :)

Ruanxing’s backstory also really touched a chord with me, as she always decides to take the right way instead of the easy way. She gets f*cking drugged by her “best friend,” and she just decides that they’re even. She turned down a guy and her career was repeatedly quashed for years on end, her agent stopped caring or even paying attention to her, and she keeps on working hard. She’s always working hard, even when she’s thrust into Jinxing’s body, she still works hard and learns how to run a business to help him. She’s so… good.

I love the way they improve each other’s lives just by being themselves. Ruanxing is caring and empathetic, she learns all of his family members’ names and takes care of his sister and grandparents and the entire corporation works harder because they think Boss Ruanxing is working so hard. She manages to improve the way people look at him and she makes people genuinely like and care for him. Jinxing uses the fact that he can win any lawsuit to absolutely tear anyone who looks down on Ruanxing apart. He doesn’t know how to act but works twice as hard to learn so that he can push her career forward. He uses his elite lawyer to take down all the people spreading lies about her. He takes care of her parents and sister and tries really hard to pretend not to be emotionally constipated so her image isn’t completely dashed.

They’re just so sweet. The story does a great job portraying how they improve each other’s lives. From Song Jingxing fighting to improve her image to Zhong Ruanxing accidentally providing him with the love and care he always craved. They really care about each other and want each other to be happy and they fall in love so smoothly. It’s very nice.

Also, the side characters are great. Fu Ling, ultimate boss x boss’ wife shipper. Ran Ting, whose name changes so many times but who works so hard to improve as an agent. Xu Qishen, top lawyer who doesn’t care about the contents of a case because he just really enjoys making the other side kneel. Song Shuling, who loves her brother but loves her sister-brother a liiiittle bit more. Zhong You, who figures out that Jinxing and Ruanxing switched bodies before literally anyone else. Bai Yinyue, who falls for Zhong Ruanxing in Song Jinxing’s body, realizes that the two swapped bodies, falls a bit for Zhong Ruanxing in Zhong Ruanxing’s body, and just acts as Song Jinxing’s biggest romantic rival. (Shuling calling her brother to demand he get Yinyue off the show because she’s his love rival aksbfndk) Kou An’an, who is the only person who actually falls in love with Song Jinxing in Zhong Ruanxing’s body and accidentally almost became a stalker. Father Zhong, who is a chef at a five-star restaurant and also an awkward little bean who loves his daughters and wife and takes such good care of them and likes his daughter’ boyfriend so much that he suggests talking to his grandparents even though he hates talking to people.  <<less
