It’s sooooo good! Wenren É and Yin Hanjiang’s relationship is magical, it’s so compelling. Yin Hanjiang literally going insane is so creepy and he’s legitimately intimidating, some of his lines gave me chills. His relationship with Wenren É and the way it progresses is so fun to read. Wenren É is such a fun character anyway, because he’s so proud of his sect sowing discord and he had a bias towards Yin Hanjiang all along and both of them have had obsessive crushes on each other for forever but never noticed! I also adore Baili Qingmiao. Her compassion and kindness and s*upidity are so compelling. Her loyalty is unwavering. She grows so much as a character. By the end, you can feel some of it return to her, that attitude and the mannerisms of a primordial chaos god. The way the novel goes out of it’s way to announce that being the god of chaos and destruction doesn’t mean that she’s any less caring - it’s proof that she’s caring. She views the whole world, not just a single minute detail of it. In the wake of destruction comes new life, that’s the whole moral of the story, that you can’t change things if it’s only surface level, you have to break it down to the foundations, burn it all to ash, for something new and better to begin. Baili Qingmiao is the perfect representatitve for the moral, the foundation of the story. She destroys herself to build herself up stronger.

I really liked Chi Nan. He’s an interesting character, and I can really relate to him. (“Why do these humans do the things they do?”) He’s fun to follow, I like how he’s always polite to the NPCs and the System, and he feels bad about “stealing” You Yu’s body. You Yu is also great, if only because his favourite thing in the world is watching his bf cry. No.9 also liking Chi Nan’a crying face is really funny.... more>>

I liked the female characters. They were really well written. While there were a few who cried and screamed, most of them had personalities beyond being scared and actual desires and motivations. I have a soft spot for Jiang Yu, who felt legitimately sad when Chi Nan “died.” I like the other side characters as well. Hei Cha is like an overprotective mother, Tang Yu’s wish is really cute, Rui Rui is just adorable; the majority of the characters were interesting and fun to learn more about. 

I also think the nightmares sequences were really interesting. I feel like I’m in the minority on this one, but they were each mysteries to solve, and I really liked that. Highway 404 was super fun to explore, but Mosaic School and You Yu’s Mansion were fun too. I liked Mosaic School a lot, honestly, the mystery being figuring out what the rules are is super investing. 

All in all, very fun to read. The mysteries kept me hooked and wanting to learn more. The characters and relationships were interesting and thought-out. The repeated implications of twin brothers wanting to f*ck each other was really funny to me, and I have no idea why. <<less

Both of them: “Noah/Mason probably doesn’t even remember me because we only met twice and both times were brief. If I say anything about it, Noah/Mason will definitely think I’m weird for being so obsessive over something that happened that long ago.”

Noah, after a certain point: “Actually, you know what? f*ck it. I’m going to f*ck this old man and I’m going to be as obsessive as possible and the only one who can stop me is God himself.”

(It’s funny because Noah calls Mason his own personal god. They’re so weird for each other pfft) <<less

God complex AI overbearing CEO with the innocent and pure heart of a preteen girl x man who falls in love with an NPC and spends nearly an entire year flirting with what basically amounts to a block of wood. I love Yin Nian and Zhang Zhiyin, I love how unreasonable and obsessive Yin Nian is and how every time you might think “oh, wow, this time Zhiyin will react like a normal person” Zhiyin does not react like a normal person. Boss Yin might be weird, but Zhiyin is so weird that he glitched out an AI to the point that it self-destructed because it fell in love with him. 

10/10. I’m pretending Zhang Zhiyin being annoyed at his wifey doesn’t exist. The ending is an illusion.  <<less

The side couples are also very entertaining, to the point that I actually wish they could have been focused on more. Yuan Rui and Lu Zhao’an are the only ones confirmed in the pursuit phase, and tsuntsun Yuan Rui is super cute. Yuan Rui also made me cry a few times. I’m glad that his favourite person finally started actively pursuing him.

Qin Jian and Yuan Meng are my favourites, to be completely honest. Qin Jian takes great joy in teasing MengMeng~ but the moment MengMeng teases back, he has no idea how to respond. And I just love that Yuan Meng is trying emulate Shi Yunnan XD

Wen Yibei and Fu Ziyu are barely even scraps, but I love the idea of them. Fu Ziyu has been the scapegoat fake boyfriend twice. Wen Yibei is Shi Yunnan’s older twin brother who is perfect and charming and wonderful. Alright, I just think it’s funny that Fu Ziyu falls for Yibei at first sight, then later starts to say he’ll date the next person who walks into the room right as Yibei walks into the room. I love it, their relationship would be wondrous <<less

I like how much Song Song and Li Xiao like each other, especially by the end. I like how confident Song Song got. I also just adore cold, emotionless men who just desire to be lovey, so Li Xiao is just *chef’s kiss*... more>>

I really like that they’re both affected by the past, but help each other move past those traumas.

When Yuan Guo tells Youning that Ye Shen beheaded someone for her and she calls it romantic. When Youning does something sneaky and Ye Shen just thinks “good for her.” They laugh together and are happy together and the ending, when she says Ye Shen got clingier, but she likes it a lot, was so cute!!! I love couples who jive together this well, and these two villains just fit together like a puzzle.
