I’m Also Waiting for the Male Protagonist to Usurp the Throne Today

Description

After transmigrating into a novel, Little Hamster suddenly becomes a tyrant villain.

The only way he can escape is by faking his death once the male protagonist usurps the throne.

Judging from the plot, the male protagonist has already developed a rebellious heart. The Emperor Hamster is delighted and decides to accelerate matters by simply appointing the male protagonist as Regent.

The male protagonist is given all the political affairs to handle, while the Emperor focuses on being a salted fish. When the Regent seizes the throne, the Emperor will finally be free!

However, the Regent seems to have eaten the wrong medicine. He unexpectedly remains loyal and dedicated, with his faithfulness increasing over time.

Emperor: Something’s not right with the script.

It isn’t until the promised rebellion strikes that the Emperor understands his true feelings.

The Regent walks in holding a sword stained with blood, his gaze cold and fierce. In front of the Emperor, he suddenly drops his sword, kneels down and pays his respects with great loyalty and enthusiasm, “The rebels have all been executed! As long as this minister lives, Your Majesty will always be safe and sound!”

The Emperor anxiously hints, “Beloved Minister, you’ve been the Regent for so long, don’t you want to switch positions?”

The Regent’s gaze is piercing, and his voice is restrained and suppressed, “I am loyal to Your Majesty day and night. If Your Majesty insists, then I would like to sleep on the dragon bed.”

The Emperor is overjoyed to hear this. “Then sleep! Come sleep tonight!”

After spending the night on the dragon bed, the Regent will finally become the Emperor the next day.

The next day, however, the Emperor holds his sore buttocks and laments with regret, “That’s not what I meant!”

The Regent holds him in his arms and replies hoarsely, “It’s too late, Your Majesty.”

Review rating is preliminary; I'm not that far in yet. I just think it's incredibly ridiculous to rate a story about a hamster turning into a human as a 1 star for being illogical. Don't go into a horror novel and rate it as a 1 for gore and don't go into a fluff novel and rate it as a 1 for being silly. No one is forcing you to read these stories. If you don't like the genre, hit that back button. Everyone is absolutely allowed to have their... more>> own taste of course, but don't expect a lot of sympathy when you throw yourself into a book you'll hate based on genre alone and consequently have a bad time. <<less

It's not exactly like the summary.

Our ML was not a Cold, nor Yandere. He was wary at the beginning of course, but he's observant and realise our MC seems innocent and silly cute. So he grow fond and protective. He devote himself to be the best what MC 'expect' from him. He's very very good so far and I'm Loving him!!!

Our MC is Adorable. Not too Naive and yet also still Lack of some Human Common sense. Which is Reasonable.

... more>> He's Cute, kind hearted and definitely Lovable!

He's no Saint, but after living as human and seeing the hardship some people bear, and as Emperor and 'raising' future Emperor, he start to understand and feeling some emotions, and he help things when he can.

He's really really good and I LOVE HIM!!!

The Slow Romance tag was for our MC still doesn't realise ML's feelings. While ML already have feelings since the 2nd arc.

Don't fear the Power Struggle or Scheming tag, things wasn't so Heavy because MC's presences was the nice touch in this novel.

Pray the rest of the story is as Good and Satisfying 🙏🙏🙏

Finished at 31 December 2023:

Okay technically I haven't finish all the chapters. But I did finished the Main Story. And maaaan... Even without knowing the extras, the Main Story actually Ended So Perfectly that if there's no extras, it would be just fine!!!

It's perfect for the Main characters in both their Important Plot and Romance one.

The last arc of the Intense moments. All things revealed. The Twist of the story. Everything was truly explored so clearly and neatly. It was Soooooooooooooo Goooooooooood!!!!

The Author did Outstanding job with the Plot and the characters and the Relationship. In both Romance and Friendship. I Love it SOOO MUCH!!!

Now I'm gonna read the extras. < ( ̄︶ ̄) ↗ <<less

This is a very interesting novel about the reincarnation of a pet hamster into an emperor, who is eagerly awaiting the day when the throne gets upsered, in hopes that he won't have to worry about being found out anymore. However things aren't necessarily going according to his plans as he gets closer to the one who is supposed to upser his throne, inadvertently changing his perspective of the emperor.

It's a really great story funny and sweet. MC is adorable and do his best, and ML he's one of the best I read so far. The plot is good and is not boring even for me who don't, a fan of the Ancient China novel. The character is not overpowered and have flaws and good. MC is not s*upid but just don't know many things (he was a literal hamster after all), his ignorance is done in a good way adorable but not annoying. Same things for the ML.... more>> I really recommend this novel for people want fluff and easy but entertaining reading. <<less

I really liked the story. I've reached up to Chapter 65 and I have enjoyed the writing style of the author. While it has some of the tropes we see in BL novels, it's actually subtle and well-written.

There's not a lot of anguish in the story or angst. The development of the romance has good pacing and not rushed at all.

The author took care to write hidden plot points along the way and revealed it later on in an interesting way.

I almost didn't read this because of the hamster part but surprisingly this was a very enjoyable read. I have a tendency to drop stories as soon as the couple becomes official but surprisingly this story had my attention till the end.

Pairing Type: transmigrator, hamster MC X book protagonist ML; emperor x subordinate; kind, doting ML; silly, cute MC; shou MC x gong ML

Heat level: low (2.5/5 spicy; love scenes are fade to black. There’s one scene that is slightly open door but it is fairly ambiguous in language.)

... more>> Dog food meter: 4.5/5 - Leads are very intimate. Even before they get together, they share a bed on the regular. Slow romance but once they’re together they spend the rest of the book shoving dog food in everyone’s face.

Re-readability: 2/5 probably won’t reread

Trope: transmigrated into a book; animal spirit; court politics; some Wuxia elements

Triggers: mentions of death and violence; f*ck or die (one dubious consent aphrodisiac scene, I’m providing a spoiler below).

Spoiler

Basically, MC is poisoned by a concubine. It’s essentially an aphrodisiac where if you don’t f*ck, you’ll die (fairly common fanfic trope tbh lol). ML is honestly upset about it but does give in to save MC.

[collapse]

It’s just a lovely little quick read. Sweet, not too much drama but still enough going on to keep it from getting boring.

The plot’s about a hamster spirit that transmigrates into the body of a book’s main villain. Naturally the protagonist falls for him. Pretty standard trope with the addition of the hamster spirit stuff. In addition to the romance elements, it’s also about the schemes of court politics and it’s done pretty well.

MC is a bit silly and lacks common sense but he’s also a hamster so it makes sense in context. I especially like that the longer he serves as the emperor, the more competent he becomes. Like he always remains kind of silly but becomes a decent ruler.

I actually like the ML. He’s kind, has friends and goals, and has a set of principles. He’s extremely doting and the couple is very devoted to one another. Generally a “villain” MC results in a blackened ML but he remains consistently good throughout. Also kind of a low bar but he’s very conscientious of consent. Numerous times where he and the MC are about to be intimate and he asks for permission. When MC tells him to stop or give him space, ML always listens immediately. Shocking but it’s so freaking rare in BL.

Weird thing to notice but did anyone else notice that MC is a real sucker for some big brown eyes lol like he is constantly mesmerized by MLs eyes, it’s kind of romantic.

Wild that MC really thought ML might try to rebel even after confessing. Like, my dude, he’s smitten that ship has long passed. This is one of the few points that started to get annoying. MC gets really stuck on things and cannot let it go, even when the facts all point in the opposite direction.

The book also felt like it ended in like ch 67 but then it kept going? Like it felt like it came to a full conclusion and then there was a whole other act afterward, like the author suddenly remembered that they had some loose strings to tie up lol

Overall though, cute, easy read. I would recommend if you’re looking for something fluffy but still entertaining. <<less

I liked the book. Very cute and heartwarming. There's not a lot of angst. It's pretty nice if you want to read something with fluff and a cute romance. Usually I don't like protagonists like the MC who are too naive but only if it doesn't make sense. The MC being naive makes perfect sense. He used to be a hamster so the things he did, although extremely s*upid sometimes, I didn't feel all that annoyed.

He was adorable and the ML was as well. Their relationship felt natural and was... more>> really cute.

I'll give it 4.5 only because it's a read more if you're bored or if you want a light read without feeling too much angst, dog blood, or tragedy. I needed this and I'm glad to have read the book. <<less

Nice and light read. Not too much drama or angst. MC, Li Jinyu, is trying to support ML, Huo Caiyu, to become emperor but ML ends up falling for MC instead. It's a predictable plot but the intro had noted as such so there shouldn't be any complaints, right?

MC is the silly, sweet type of character. As a hamster, it's understandable that he doesn't understand human cues and also that he has a hamster's timid nature. The couple's relationship is lovely.

Spoiler

SPOILER...

MC was caught up in another demon's tribulation and transported with the demon. The demon ended up killing the Prime Minister and taking over his body.

Even though the demon had wanted to kill ML at first, he ended up becoming friends with MC and protecting the country.

The original owner of MC's body was impotent. His mother, the Empress Dowager, had poisoned him. There were baby swaps when he was a baby and the ED thought the emperor was her enemy's son but he really was her son.

MC and ML got together. MC disbanded his harem and married ML. MC also shared half of his life expectancy with ML, so they would be able to live and die together.

SPOILER FROM EXTRAS...

MC was able to gain enlightenment because he ate a crystal from a mythical beast. There are other revelations but let's shorten it and say that a time loop is involved. ☺️

I actually really enjoyed reading this, I think that it does get quite confusing in terms of how ML was just able to warm up to MC just like that even though he was tortured by the original emperor.

Anyways, I think the story runs pretty smoothly overall, although you might get bored at some points in the story as I did where I would just skip a few pages because of how much it was only related to politics and other stuff that really just builds up and you just... more>> get confused or bored.

Despite this I still enjoyed the story, (disappointed about the bed scenes as they just skim over it BUT) I definitely recommend it cause hamster MC is just so cute. <<less

I am really enjoying this story. It's cute with political intrigue. I think my favorite genre is animal spirits cultivated to human form because they can be innocent and daring at the same time.

The novel is very cute. The plot regarding the politics does seem to be summarized a lot, and although ppl read this novel mainly for its romance, the summaries does feel like it skips a lot at times, so only for that I deduct a star.

Aside of that, I really like the romance because the ML respects the MC a lot, respects his personal boundary and doesn't force his feelings on the MC unlike a lot of other danmei novels out there. The feelings progress naturally and even after they're... more>> in a relationship, they're still respectful to each other. I think that's a big plus of this story.

Also a plus for progressing the plot even after the couple get together, making me interested to read until the end. <<less

This story is good, but that's it... nothing special or memorable.

My advice is to read this story if you don't have anything else to read, because for me this story itself didn't leave any impression at all while I was reading it.

It's a good and enjoyable read

But there are plot points that seemed to just been skipped over.

For example, the previous emperor tortured ML and suddenly MC (now the emperor) becomes good to the ML and ML doesn't harbor any hatred for the emperor? He just finds him cute?

Sometimes MC's naiveness can be irritating and I dislike how the conflicts between MC and ML was kinda pushed for a while. It could have been solved if they just talked ... more>>
Spoiler

Conflict about ML liking MC but not confessing and MC feeling something for ML but not knowing its love so they just avoid each other

[collapse]

And its kinda weird to me that MC was conflicted about
Spoiler

his feelings for ML and ML's feelings for him but he didn't worry about whether ML would be able to accept that he is a hamster demon

[collapse]

Anyhooo it's a cute read but the conflicts just keep on coming like
Spoiler

ML and MC almost confesses to each other but suddenly there's a war so the confession gets pushed back cause ML has to go fight at the frontlines

Then, the MC and ML are finally together but now, the MC suddenly turns into a hamster. He and ML has to be separated again cause he needs to find a cure for himself

Like dudeeee they just got together huhu, cant they get a break and be together for a while??

I love this, super fun and pretty lighthearted.

I love the MC, adorable but can be determined and take control when he needs to, like although he relies on ML a lot that doesn’t make him useless. He didn’t feel like a damsel which I really liked.
Spoiler

He also befriends the cat which I love. They don’t go through much hardships and their appointments never feel that threatening, which I don’t mind. Honestly really funny with the baby switching at the end, I do love how they dealt with Emperor Jingchang and his mum at the end though. Like sad that his mum f*cked over her own child but at the same time it's literally all her fault, she chose to swap them in the first place and she chose to ab*se a child she didn’t believe was her's so she deserves to rot in guilt. With Emperor Jingchang it's sad that he had to be an emperor at a young age and to top it off his own mother drugs him to f*ck up his life and give him constant pain and discomfort and it's even more sad that at the start he really wanted to be good, even when his own mother is against him but he couldn’t do it. He spiralled into a tyrant and having a hard life doesn’t excuse his many killings, he doesn’t deserve to be emperor or anything but at least now he can rest.

There's nothing really objectionable about the story, there's just nothing that really stands out besides the MC being a hamster spirit. The ML falls in love with only very token resistance, so there's not much for the romantic arc; the author tries to add some plot and political intrigue, but isn't quite capable of making anything too tense on that front either. I guess on the plus side, it's pretty light reading and relatively unproblematic in terms of the relationship besides their first time being slightly dubcon (which lbr is... more>> pretty good for these historical stories) <<less
