After Playing the Fool and Marrying the Blind Villain [Transmigration]

Description

When he awoke, Pei Yi had transmigrated into the wealthy young master of the same name in a book.

The original owner was ten years old when he fell into the pool and nearly drowned. When he woke up again, he was a mentally impaired child and became the laughingstock of the entire Imperial Capital circle.

The profit-oriented elders regarded him as a bargaining chip for business transactions, and followed the instigation and arrangements of the Bo family to make him marry the Second Young Master Bo, who was blinded in a car accident.

A fool and a blind man, this was obviously a humiliation.

It was a pity that others didn’t know that Second Young Master Bo was the most important villain in the book.

Not only would his eye disease be cured, but he would become the only person with authority in the Bo family.

As for the foolish original owner, after being kicked out of the Bo residence by the protagonist of the original book, he still couldn’t escape the fate of falling into the river and dying tragically.

. . .

Knowing the plot of the book he transmigrated into, Pei Yi met “his” nominal marriage partner, Bo Yueming, not long after—

I don't think this is by any means a bad story, but it is what it is, average. Some people will like it as other reviews suggest, unfortunately for me I guess I went into it with too much hope based on the reviews. Alas...

This is my second time trying to read this. The beginning always charms me but around the late 20s - 30s that charm just fizzes out and I am once again probably not going to finish this. The ML constantly likening MC to kitten, telling him... more>> to behave and manipulating him into relationship (and taking advantage of him drunk/asleep even if not sexually (yet?)) makes me really uncomfortable. Yes, there are way worse MLs out there but that doesn't make this one okay. I also don't really see any chemistry between them that would make me interested.

I love the side couple. I think the translator said they have their own shorter novel and I feel like I'd rather read that...

Also the villains are too brain dead for my liking. I like a good faceslap but when it's them basically self-slapping it makes it all rather underwhelming. The cat is smarter than they are, should be a business tycoon too if even they somehow managed it (to be fair, the MC operates on intuition rather than brains as well). And let's not get started on the way author treats disabilities.

I might edit this review if I force myself to finish it at some point, but that day is not today. <<less

This is the best novel I've ever read! Chinese, transmigration, romance, or bl, this is the top of all those lists! For those interested in love and honesty, I cannot recommend this further. There's revenge on the unjust, and forgiveness for the forced; help for the needy, and support for the lost.

Be warned, there is tragedy, but if you can't handle that, skip directly to the extras, where everything is sweet and perfect.

The writing for this novel is wonderful, and the translators are high quality. I hope this novel becomes... more>> an international success like the works of MXTX, hopefully with adaptations.

This novel will remain in my heart for the rest of my life, and I am truly grateful to the numerous people that it readable to a monolingual person like me! <<less

First I wanna thanks translator for introducing this book. With just 4 Chapter translated got me hooked which I had to go MTLed them and finished within a day. Waiting for the full translated version. A definitely worth to re-read again.

The story is so good. I loved both MC and ML. I love the side couples too.

The story is good. Doesn't have those over complicated dramas and etc. The Author even close both world neatly.

Yes I mtled it. Why? Because once you start reading it, you can't stop. I mean FR. I normally camp on books that are not completely translated yet, and this is one of my exceptions.

MC is pretending to be a fool while ML is pretending to be blind. And both are tigers pretending to be pigs.

Both MC and ML have traumas to deal with, specially MC who was traumatized by his adopted father in the real world, but they also had a realistic view of the world which is good.

The... more>> side characters are good and well made. The villains (yes villain coz there's a lot of them lurking around) are your typical money-loving, power-hungry, self-righteous sort but hey they push the plot so it's all good.

All in all it's a good read (i mtled it even if the translation was shitty that way). <<less

My enjoyment was greatly decreased because I mtled most of it and many chapters were broken.

I still enjoyed it purely because the author is good enough.

Few spoilers

Spoiler

1. I was initially mad at ML because he neglected og Pei Yuan in the novel; Pei Yuan was sexually harrassed then became more reticent & finally committed su*cide, yet ML never found out or protected him. I'm glad that we had some buffer time before MC & ML got together.

2. There were bad parents & elders galore but I feel Li Yu'An was the most pitiful. I'm glad that he befriended MC & got him happy ending. Plus the mums regretted it.
3. I feel that Pei & Bo family got off way too easily. It just wasn't satisfying enough.

This is something I might have liked when I was a teenager but it's making me cringe so hard I can't even describe it. Not going to rate it, but here's a few of those moments:

1. ML keeps calling the MC kitten. Even at the start, when the ML had eyesight problem, he kept comparing the MC's hands (and when the latter touched him) with the paws of a kitten that he used to raise.

2. The pet cat they pick up is way too intelligent to be a cat. It... more>> seems to understand what the owner is saying, leads the ML to the MC when the latter is in trouble, scratches the bad guys with remarkable accuracy and even knows how to act mad with the MC for not spoiling him. And mind you, the MC doesn't have any sort of fated history with the cat.

At first, I thought maybe there's a background story to the cat, like some kind of supernatural shit. But nope, the cat is just a cat (idk if something big is revealed in the later l chapters, I ended up dropping the story).

3. The business people don't actually seem like business people? They seem more like teenagers who transmigrated into an adult's body (I mean no hate to teenagers, btw). Most of the transactions, or discussions in general, are based solely on trust. I read instances of the MC 'feeling' that the other party's 'character' and 'personality' is good, before simply entrusting them with secrets or inviting them to join his project.
Spoiler

One example is when they are competing with another company for investment. Said company has two partners. When the MC's team wins, and it is proven that the other company had some issue with copyright infringement, MC simply invites one of the two partners of his rival company just because he 'knows' that he is talented and a good guy. As for how he knows this, it's probably based on what he read online or in the book before he transmigrated (I doubt the latter, considering this investment arc wasn't a 'major event' according to the original plotline). There's no other explanation or interaction between the two. And in the end, when the latter agrees, he is directly invited to join the main project chat without consideration that he may be a spy or something else.

[collapse]

Now, I don't have a problem with MC trusting others and making decisions based on trust, but how does that kind of decision making suit someone who is in business? You risk losing so much with a single wrong step.

4. The villains are brainless. They don't have any motive, but are villainous just because they are the villian. Most of the things don't even make sense,
Spoiler

Like the mc's original body's situation. His grandpa separated him from his mother when his dad died. The grandpa showered him with love initially, but then the MC hurt himself and was suffering from mental disability. Even though the grandpa doesn't like the MC after that, why doesn't he let him go back to his mom? Like what motive did he have to keep him if he doesn't even like him? He was just acting like an ass because he has the bad guy role.

Another instance, and I'll use the example of that investment competition earlier, is when one of the two partners, who is the bad guy, insults women. A bit of a background about this scene is that the two competing teams need the investor's votes. There's three people whose vote matter, and one of them is a woman. The woman votes for the bad guy's company, but then the bad guy proceeds to insult the mc's team's female member by saying something along the lines of 'you are a woman so you can't possibly do this work'. He does this right in front of that female investor whose vote was clearly a tie-breaker for him.

[collapse]

Now, why would a man who has been in the business for so long and clearly owns a company that has been described as successful, act so freaking dumb at such a critical point in his career? It just baffles me how idiotic these villains are.

5. The MC gives me pick-me vibes. I thought I was in for a story about strong and smart MC, but instead, we get a mix of supposedly smart but also cute and dumb MC. I don't dislike those tropes if done right, but here the MC seems too pick-me. Especially his obsession with drinking. He knows this body has weak drinking capacity, but the author repeatedly makes him drink so that he can act 'cute' with the ml. It's fine to drink, but then he keeps insisting that he 'isn't drunk' or 'has a big drinking capacity'. Moreover, I hate it when the ML keeps calling him a kitten and telling him to behave and shit. Again, not that I never read those tropes, but it just wasn't what I was expecting, nor is it done right.

6. There's inconsistencies here and there.
Spoiler

Like there's one instance when the MC threatens people with a knife, but in a much later chapter, he is shown to strongly react to a knife handed to him because of past trauma. I get it that someone's trauma may not be triggered all the time but I don't think someone would willingly pickup a knife if they are traumatized by it.

[collapse]

7. Lastly, this need not be mentioned because the translator already warned us in the first chapter, but I'm still going to mention it - the characters of this novel really look down on disability. It's annoying at first and infuriating later.

I got tired venting, so I'll stop here. Don't let my words stop you from reading this because there's clearly many people who like it. I didn't, and that's my very honest opinion.

I read all of it (the 57 chapter available) in the span of three days. Loved every minute of it.

The relationship between the MC and ML is slow but sweet and is never boring.

The characters are interesting and have their own lives outside of the main story. My favourite character is the MC and the cat.

Love this, love this very much. Thanks for the translations great work, I went on to read the Chinese because I couldn't wait

MC and ML are made for each other! Both of their backstories are so pitiful, I am glad they some how found each other.

I love there's no h*mophobia, usually we have big wealthy family and we have to deal with these waste of time storyline. I just find it refreshing that Men and men as accepted as norms quickyly

MC faking his mental disability acting like a fool and... more>> use it to faceslap those jerks to protect ML, I love it so much and he gets away with it, so cheaky, well planned and love to those annoying ppl can't do anything to him hehe.

We could've have done more with those faceslaps, especially when they found he recovered, him building a gaming empire major faceslaps, and the potential run away storyline could've done more with that. But in the middle it was decided to give us sweet and fluff, I can't complain with that I guess. I wish there's more MC using acting the fool faceslap people, also using his recovery to do even more face slapping!

There's one thing I just didn't really want to let go

Spoiler

That 2nd house Bo Wang should be give more punishment for the bulling of ML and white lotus villain shou should be in jail for all he has done. Too many ppl got away. Especially original Pei house mother and father! Scums if MC didn't transmigrate it would be hell for the original body owner

[collapse]

Also ML mother are also pittful sigh but what she chose it can't be mended. I also wouldn't have let her just have ML back because of what she done

Side couple are so cute together, supper supportive. I love it

Highly recommended, I'll say this work was the best one out of the authors had done. She improved alot. I hope to see more from her <<less

The relationship development is perfect, not too fast or slow, and realistic in how the feelings are able to develop over time. The two main characters are also so well rounded as characters and don't feel one-dimensional at all. They have motivations behind their actions, traumas that they're dealing with, and are so well fleshed out.

Also THE FLIRTING!! They have such fun banter with each other. The scenes where they're just playing with each other had me obsessed. Really just their chemistry with each other! Rarely do I find a... more>> couple that I'm as in love with as these two. Truly made for each other, in every way. Loved how every other character that met the two of them had the exact same thought haha

Spoiler

At the halfway point of the story when MC and ML reveal their true faces to each other, I really loved that they took the time to get to know each other from the beginning rather than jumping into anything.

[collapse]

The ML gave me the perfect balance of a cold ML that still has feelings. I really like a restrained character that isn't ONLY a block of ice all time. He's so sweet to MC, the "I trust my wife" type to stand back and let MC do his thing while still being protective and defending him. Honestly one of my favorite relationship dynamics, where they trust each other to take care of themselves while also trusting the other to take care of them too.

The side couple is also cute as hell and I was rooting for them so hard every scene they appeared in. I really loved all the side characters, they all added to the story so well. Of course though, the main couple was my favorite part of the story, which is good because they are the main part lol

Spoiler

Also can I say how I absolutely died laughing when MC literally passed out for a day and a half after their first time lmaooo

[collapse]

I have a bad habit of getting bored after a couple gets together but these two surprisingly kept me entertained even after the confession. They are the literal definition of healthy communication and boundary setting. I was so taken aback at times with how well they actually voiced their feelings to each other. Literal goals.

No opinion on the game development plot, it was a bit outlandish with MC developing entire games basically overnight, but I'll overlook it. It's not a perfect story but it has a lot of charm. Definitely recommend. <<less

More like 3.5, but rounded up for the strong woman characters. Enjoyed the story a lot until chapter 80ish, then started to loose interest. All the initial storylines had pretty much been completed by then and I wasn't that invested in the game launch and drama.

MC, for the most part I really liked him. He wasn't weak, s*upid, or naive, just a bit innocent in love. Only part of him I really didn't like was that his past was a bit dramatically over the top. Though I am interested in... more>> the side story extras that come from the dramatic past.

The ML I was okay with, he was just kind of bland. He does treat the MC well and no over the top possessiveness.

Their relationship was nice, they communicate and solve their issues, felt more mature than most danmei relationships.
Spoiler

I don't understand another reviewer's thoughts on the ML. I don't know where he was manipulating the MC to be in a relationship. Maybe a bit desperate, but not manipulative.

MC was pretending to be a fool, ML was pretending to be blind. When their deceptions all come out in the open, MC like a coward, tries to run away in the middle of the night. ML of course catches him before he gets out of the house. ML requests the MC to stay to try to fall in love with him and MC agrees to try. MC is already in love with ML and just doesn't notice. ML is a bit clingy because of his backstory, but nothing excessive.

[collapse]

The side couple was actually really cute. I am appreciative the author didn't spend too much time on them after the main couple got together. Felt like they got just enough time to be interesting and not annoying.

The villains are simple dancing idiots waiting to be slapped. I'm glad they weren't too complicated. Everyone gets what's coming to them.

The cat was cute, but not sure why it had human like intelligence. What's wrong with having just a normal, loving fluff ball. Why do Chinese authors love to make kids and animals over the top intelligent?

I absolutely loved that it was the grandma that ran the family business successfully and the granddaughter is the one that shows the most potential. Strong woman characters are not often seen in Chinese danmei.

Spoiler

the game arc at the end fits the story, but at the same time felt off. Just felt like too much, I was bored through most of it.

I also didn't really like the MLs mom bit. I get the author was trying to tie up loose ends and I do appreciate that, but it was a too bittersweet in such a feel good part of the novel, felt out of place.

[collapse]

I am looking forward to the extras being translated of the alternate "real world". <<less

An average dogblood transmigration story excellently translated.

Like I already mentioned, the story is nothing special But the ML is excellent and the MC is neither a white lotus nor a Gary Sue. The worldbuilding is superficial and most of the dude characters are cardboard cutouts with fixed roles.

I have to commend the translator. The text reads smoothly with no jarring notes. Will definitely read more by the translator

Every main character needs therapy. But jokes aside, the excitment of the first chapter ended when the main antagonist was defeated, and the later chapter is like patching up the finale of the story. Both the leads were lonely and need love to grow out from their pessimistic view on life and love. Which is why I like that the romance was not fast. MC is quirky and a good friend to everyone, he loved ML wholeheartedly but not foolish enough to ruin himself for it and same goes to... more>> ML. ML was a bit possessive which was in line to the typical cold CEO characteristic but not in later chapters even though he still is, but not extreme. They are first time lovers, after learning from other people's experience, they want the best for each other. Even though the ML fell first, MC fell harder. The side couple were cute, and glad not everyone is an idiot and they learn to fix their mistake unlike those arrogant antagonist that deserved a beating! I may not give it five stars but I do recommand that, this is a good story. <<less

Just finish reading it. It was beautiful. I also like the turn around where they where in the real world. Haha. I can't say anything else everything is in place. Though I don't like the ending of the Pei family but I think somehow they deserve it. And Pei Huan selfishness somehow I had hope at least he could reconcile with his biological mother and not being selfish. Still it's a beautiful book.

Actual Rating 4.5

It started well, however the major plot was resolved early, making the last quarter of the main story a little boring. The latter part was focused on MC's career and some family/emotional entanglements of MC and ML.

But the extra chapters are really good, The MC's adoptive parents were given a 2nd chance to prevent the tragedy to happen again. Currently 5th ch of fanwei

The novel is all about making almost everyone surrounding the MC and ML utterly detestable, evil, and calculating so the aforementioned MC and MC can love each other against all odds eventhough the plot does not have any logical reason behind it.

From the get go, I can tell that the author wiĺl utilize tasteless plot devices to develop the story so I'll move along.

Honestly, the beginning of this story is a bit cliche... still the storyline will get better as the plot progresses.

The comedy element in this story is also very funny (MC will always say something that feels like sarcasm at the end of every conversation, which people couldn't reply because they thought he was a fool).

By the way, as we get closer to the end of the story, you will feels something like "is this story getting slowed down???" and this all because the author keeps dragging out the story with... more>> "sweet things" which sometimes feels excessive and it's actually reduces the enthusiasm for us to finishing the story.

One thing that I like most about this story is how everyone which antagonist/protagonist has a different ending.

Spoiler

For example, ML grandfather which ended up alone because there was no people in his family want to take care of him, ML uncle who went to prison because of his crime, and the last is ML cousin who also had to go to prison, but in the end of his scene in the story he was realized and regretted everything that he had done.

There is also ending story for original MC in the book, ML's biological mother, and many more which are written with different endings.

Last, the story about MC adoptive parents is very sad (one of my fav scene actually), luckily we have a bonus chapter for their story.

I don't know how to start this review. All I know is that it ends well.

It ends well for MC and ML. It ends well for Li Yuan and Yan Cen. It ends well for Father Rong and Father Yan.

Though I'm not sure how it ends well for OG Pei Yi. I think this is the only part that wasn't answer throughout the story.

... more>> First of all, I just want to vent all the bad feelings I got while reading the part of OG Pei YI's fate. He deserves better.

Though I'm not sure if the brain damage is curable. What I'm sure is, he could've been in better condition.

I really am mad on how he died and what happened to him in the banquet.

And also for ML, it feels so sad how they make a villain out of a person that just want to survive. In the first place he deserves a whole family. He's innocent as much as his scumbag of a father's current wife and children.

I just hate how he and OG Pei Yi original fate was meant to be awful.

Speaking of ML, I couldn't forget his mother. His mother deserves the best😭 if not falling for wrong person she should've been happier and successful. I actually commend her spirit of raising ML despite the insult she receives from everyone. It feels so sad that they couldn't be a family again in the end.

Next the OG MC A.K.A Pei Huan, actually when Li Yuan entered the story I already felt something fishy about Pei Huan's achievements. Idk, maybe the years of reading this type of story pays off haha!

Anyways, I could never get over about the fact that Li Yuan even if his fake father died could've been successful if not for his s*upid of a fake mother's doing.

I would never forget how they destroyed his future. He could've been in better place than the earlier chapters. That's why it's satisfying to see when Pei Huan's fate and Li Yuan's fate exchange. It's so well deserved.

Applaud for Li Yuan's real mother for having character development but I wouldn't forget the treatment she made OG Pei Yi gone through.

Next I guess the OG ML, Yan Cen, I was actually looking forward to Li Yuan's and his story I thought that the extras was about them. Anyways, in earlier chapters I actually thought that Bo Guancheng is the OG ML, idk why haha! Anyways, I felt like his character was quite an NPC one.

I mean he felt like a decoration😭 I was even shock when he just fell in love for Li Yuan and he's chasing him already. Idk if it's because of the lack of perspective but yeah, I would prefer if they atleast had their scenes cause it feels so sudden for them.

Lastly, saving this for the last. The extras, I was actually quite happy that the extras are about Father Rong and Father Yan even though I'm expecting Li Yuan and Yan Cen's POV. Anyways, I felt like they're the family of protagonists. I mean, one transmigrated while the other two rebirth.

I do actually have a bad view of Father Yan at first because of the sneak peak they shown of the MC's past and also the behavior they showed. But after knowing the whole story. I was really curious about how they ended up. Cause it just feels so sad for that happy family to end in misery and tragedy just cause of a malicious intent. And somehow, this part just shows how internet can be a cause of someone's death, misery, tragedy.

Anyways, I'm actually quite amazed just how Father Yan handled the root of all the misery they had gone through. It's so merciful and mature. Especially from him who had lost everything just cause of that small incident. I'm just so happy they both ends well.

Also, I don't really know what to feel for MC in the extra. Idk, I felt like it wasn't him and it was also him in the extra. But I just look at it in the perspective that the MC transmigrated to the story and has been healed by ML. And the extra is for his Fathers to heal each other and create a future for the Pei Yi that haven't yet gone through the hardship MC went through.

On the last part, Idk if ML remembers their life from the novel or it was him that make the rebirth of Father Yan happened. I mean, it's not bad to speculate no?

P. S. The best line for is when Bo Yueming proposes and instead of asking the typical question of 'will you marry me?' he asks this:

“Little Sir, am I qualified to be your lifelong partner?”

It just feels so sincere and loving🥺 <<less

This is a fun story. Very dog blood as expected, so don't expect the story to be too realistic.

I like the main cp and I also love the side cp - I wish we had more about the side cp, partially because the side cp's shou has the best storyline in my opinion. But that's just my personal preference.

I do agree with other reviews that onelce the main dogblood drama plots are done (around chapter 70/80), the story just doesn't hit the same, but I pushed through and completed... more>> it to finish off all the additional plot holes.

The translation is also really good, no complaints here! I thank the translator for taking the time to translate this story.

I definitely recommend reading this novel, but would also prewarn that the chapters do get longer than the first handful. It's not really a novel that can be binged in one day, but two to three days is possible if you dedicate your time to it. <<less
