I wouldn’t say the Emperor falls in love with her but he does think of her a lot. I am pretty satisfied with that. If you enjoy face-slapping moments, a shameless MC who knows when to act, how to act and her genius schemes, this is the book for you. She does not openly harms other concubines but she does retaliate if they harm her or scheme against her. She does not pretend to be a white lotus. She is merely firm in her pretend love with the Emperor (others think she is so in love that they pity her).

However... Our MC is just too good at evoking our sympathy and love! That even the supposed ML of the story will get affected and not end up with the FL in the story! Each arc has a different storyline which I won't spoil but it's really worth the read. I cried over and over again.

A brilliant masterpiece with all the elements of a great story. It involves throne ascension drama, political issues involving the court and aristrocatic families, harem politics and fights, some magical elements involving amulets and talismans, a wonderful romance with a doting ML, great side characters like the Xuanmen sect family and fun antagonists.

I don't think the summary really explains the story correctly. The only thing it got right is the FL's salty fish nature (lazy and doesn't want to move). Translation is 2/5. I find reading the MTL is easier.

Basically its about a girl who has special abilities and something called An Eye of Heaven that allows her to see good fortune or bad fortune on someone when she looks at their face. She can calculate their fortune, etc. She is from a special sect called the Xuanmen sect and is now on a mission to help anyone of her choosing to ascend the throne. Our FL is super lazy (there is a reason for this), and she decides the Crown Prince is the easiest to help as he's already on the way to becoming the Emperor anyway. To her shock and dismay, the Crown Prince who was chosen by the Emperor is actually not favored at all and is a pawn. So she helps him overcome his struggles. It's pretty great.  <<less

This novel is very interesting and fun to read. The author executed it well imo. First of all, as mentioned by other reviews, both FL and ML are not perfect people. They're very flawed. They're not exactly bad people. It's just that our FL is bold in a time when those aspects are not appreciated. ML on the other hand, is what we would call now as a sexist, misogynistic man. In those days, ML is a very normal thinking guy. It's a story about how the two of them have s**, and then fall in love, and get separated before finding each other again. It is a great story with a lot of feminist/modern views in an ancient time. FL questions ML on why she should back down on certain things, and ML eventually changes his mindset. I liked that there was character growth in this story.

What I like is that the two leads get together after there has been some changes in their mindset. FL is not as adverse to marriage anymore, and ML is not as misogynistic anymore. Author also mentions in the story that if the two had gotten together in the beginning, they would have fought a lot and the marriage would have failed. But because there was a long time gap for the both of them to grow and sort out their feelings, it worked out better now.

Absolute fave. Great set of characters, female lead is epic. The slice-of-life doesn't get boring. The childcare scenes are fantastic and involved small children, teenagers and young adults. The political maneuvering in this story of throne ascension is also fantastic! It focuses more on the FL bringing up her children, and she's known as a widow for almost half the novel. 

Romance for her comes late and with it a plot twist as well. For me, I enjoyed the romance part as I felt ML and FL shared similar views in life and they have a pretty great relationship. However it is not very obvious nor blatant when they fell in love. It just sort of happens and they show their feelings through actions and not words. So it's a subtle romance for me. Romance is also not the focus in this novel.  <<less

A very entertaining read that kept me up for almost a week! It is a well-written story that has elements of horror, which involves ghosts and monsters plus the darkness of humanity. It also has a bit of the entertainment aspect with the livestreaming and game elements along with a System that enforces the horror game rules. It's like one of those Japanese gore manga where characters are thrown into a new horror world and asked to survive. The story has subplots of romance too. Don't worry it is full of humour too with numerous parody-like moments interspaced with the horror aspect.

It has a super OP FL that gradually becomes more OP as she goes along the survival missions in the horror world. She meets ML and falls in love first. However, romance plot fluctuates in this novel. It is minimal at the beginning with more emphasis towards the end of the novel. Let's just say that towards the end, the FL's focus is working her way to get more powerful to help the ML overcome troubles.  <<less

Basically its a story with political intrigue, warfare and ghosts. It also has a lot of mystery!

Our FL is a ghost king who is temporarily resting in a human body and meets the ML whom surprises her. She then follows along as he goes about defending his country against the Huqi people who are invading and taking over regions. 

The interactions between the FL and ML is so interesting and I love their distinct personalities. <<less

Simple story about a battle for survival for a cannon fodder family through the efforts of the FL and ML. The story isn't deep and antagonists are defeated quite easily. However, the highlight of the novel is the subtle romance between the cold, calculative almost tsundere FL with a green-tea black bellied ML. There's also many fun and interesting side characters that make the novel more interesting to read. 

Many might not like the FL in this story but I like that her first life shaped how she is in her new rebirth. She's been hurt and don't open up easily. The ML is also someone who fakes his emotions and is even more unfeeling than the FL but hides it behind his gentleman facade. The way the two leads interact and eventually fall in love is what I liked. They're both trying to find a way to build trust. The way they worked together is how they developed the relationship. This is the second novel I've read from the author. I must say that this author is really talented in writing very vivid, dynamic characters. All her characters shine in their own way. Because of her talent in writing very nuanced characters - from the leads to the side characters to the villains, the story becomes very engaging and interesting to read.

The plot is nothing very complicated, to be honest. The story is interesting but what makes it better is how the characters progress in the story. This is a character-driven novel.

FL is super OP, and so is ML. Romance is not a highlight. <<less
