The variety show “The Most Hated Her and Him” invited six of the most disliked celebrities voted by netizens and industry insiders to participate in the recording.

The show became a hit as soon as it aired, and netizens called it the most unethical variety show they had ever seen.

However, on the day before the official recording of the show, Shang Lu suddenly realized that the world she lived in was a novel and she was a cannon fodder supporting actress, as well as the number one female star of this show, and most hated female celebrity voted by netizens.

Shang Lu exclaimed, “VIP viewing area, here I come!”

***

During a game segment, Shang Lu won and gained the priority to choose her room.

A princess syndrome actress arrogantly said, “Hey, let’s exchange rooms.”

Everyone thought they were going to have a conflict, but Shang Lu smiled and said, “It’s 50,000 yuan for one night, 20% off for two nights, do you prefer WeChat or Alipay?”

The princess syndrome actress :???

The drama queen actress deliberately tried to steal Shang Lu’s spotlight.

But, Shang Lu calmly took out a customized face mask from her bag that was specifically made for the other person’s face and said, “It’s all you, don’t worry, it will all be broadcasted as you.”

The actress : “…”

A tyrannical idol and an unsociable actor almost started a fight, and the show’s staff quickly asked Shang Lu to mediate. Shang Lu, who was enjoying the spectacle, spontaneously hosted, “Ladies and gentlemen, what we are about to show you is the annual boxing championship! The loser will be disfigured and exit the entertainment industry!”

The two people who were about to fight : …

Audience : …we thought we would have fun, but they realized that Shang Lu seemed to be having even more fun than us.

After a series of crazy antics, everyone assumed that Shang Lu must have become a public enemy, but…

No one knows when it started, the “th**ny” celebrities in the entertainment industry who were fearless and unafraid of anything began to act subtly different towards Shang Lu.

The drama queen actress took the initiative to ask Shang Lu for advice on how to play a new role;

The unsociable male actor waited in the scorching sun for three hours to buy a limited edition cake for Shang Lu;

The princess syndrome actress and the irritable male idol almost fought over the opportunity to go to the amus**ent park with Shang Lu the next day.

Even the infamous tongue-lashing director, who was known to be strict on actors’ performances, publicly said that it was an honor for him if Shang Lu agreed to play the female lead in his movie.

The haters were confused. Where did all the “villains” go? Why did you become Shang Lu’s fan club after participating in the show? This doesn’t make sense!

Later, they found out that there were more “hidden fans” of Shang Lu.

The heir of the top-tier wealthy family, Chi Yan, had a photo of seven-year-old Shang Lu stepping on a little boy’s bu*t as his phone screensaver.

When asked about the reason, Chi Yan replied leisurely, “Can’t you tell? It’s because I have a crush on her.”

Others were shocked.

Wait a minute… isn’t that little boy who was bullied Chi Yan himself?!

What about the secret crush? We can see your wedding ring shining, you know!

Beautiful and sharp-tongued fun-loving salted fish X Arrogant and protective domineering president.

I don’t know why this isn’t more highly rated. It’s the most hilarious novel I have ever read. The hijinks and tomfoolery takes up most of the novel with some past trauma, serious topics, and romance briefly mixed in. I am only disappointed that there was not more romance, it took a long time for him to finally get together. It was quite nice seeing a boss CEO trope not aggressively pursuing the female lead for a change. He supported her as a friend gradually developing a stronger relationship until... more>> she was ready and couldn’t live without him. He accepted her traumas and was willing to never be married because she was scared. He felt like a green flag the entire way. Love this novel so much. I would caution to not read this in public though. I was embarrassed laughing too much. <<less

This was AMAZING! Comletely loved it.

Why? Because of the humor! Damn, it was so funny. I appreciated author's sense of humor. They somehow managed to make those twists funny, barrage comments well integrated, just all the details went together well and it was a pure joy to read. Although this story is not without sadness, which is not a bad contrast and gave this story and Shang Lu's character explanation and depth. It is more of her own journey of waking up, putting down veil that blocked her vision, shaking... more>> off shackles of her family drama and finding the man who truly loved her, so Shang Lu and her story is the central piece.

(note: the following is my blog review from January, so I copy-pasted myself/ CONTAINS SPOILERS)

The story plot isn't anything new at the first glance, well, same old, somehow our heroine gets to know that she's actually a vicious supporting role in a pet article where her current fiance-in-name has a love for another woman, but he is ready to sacrifice some time just for the sake of his business growth, while for our heroine this fiance was once a boy in her memories who helped her through the hardest times, so this is why she let's him go and was ready to be dedicated.

Shang Lu who woke up to realize this and actually didn't falter or planned revenge, she looked at the current situation with curiosity and no actual dislike. She indeed spent few years on making bad movies just because of supporting the man she thought was her savior, she earned herself a pretty notorious reputation, while the love of her man was a popular traffic florette and seemed to be impeccable.

We start from the point where Shang Lu is invited to a new variety show which is basically called - Most hated him and her. She even voted with several trumpet accounts to vote #1 for herself. In this show she completely let go and all of the guests actually went through changes big or small along the entire storyline.

What amazed me was actually having so much fun reading between great balance of show and comment area, also I loved that this really reminded me of a variety show and it was fun to read. I'm not sure, if I was too influenced by watching 'Running Man' show while reading this, but still I think it really caught the vibe of a show I think can be called a variety show. It's fun, it's bizarre, it's sand sculptures all the way. But not only.

Along the funny storyline where Shang Lu manages to turn her own image, but also do the same for other guests (which I think is one of the greatest care one author can do for the chosen supporting roles in the novels, usually supporting roles are not that interesting). We also find out that her life experience wasn't all sunshine. On the contrary it was dark and depressing. Her mother died during giving birth to her. Her father who loved his wife a lot turned into a hateful cold man, he only recognized his wife and worshipped her, so for him the daughter was like a mu*derer he hated. Her elder brother was also alienated from her, but later we find out it's not really because of taking the mom's life, but because of changes in their father, who was very dissatisfied with everything his children did and punished the brother for all that his sister did, even if it seemed something little. Shang Lu met the boy who brought her sunshine during her confinement, which was more like being imprisoned in a room. She did not see him, but got his letters. She mistakenly thought it was a boy named Jiang Yu, that's why she chased his ass all the time, though never got a good answer in return. She thought time changed him. In school he met another boy with whom she had a friendly relationship, Chi Yan. Chi Yan fell for Shang Lu quite early and could not understand why Shang Lu kept hanging on such scum as Jiang Yi. Their friendship had a fall out at some point, but whithin short time resumed. He was always her best support.

When Shang Lu awoke from the bloody script she realized how despicable Jiang Yi was and did not bother to continue the "relationship". She was also sprayed online all the time how she was a mistress or third-wheeled in all places possible, when she was a rightful fiance, but was never protected by this "fiance". Her reputation was notorious, while everyone supported Jiang Yi and his mistress. Getting away from two was easy, but bringing back her reputation was harder, yet possible. We're in slap-back situation, of course the SLAPS WILL BE LOUD. So the reveal of their relationship and previous entanglement was inevitable.

The only one who opposed was her father whom she left behind, no matter how rich he was and how he threatened, she didn't care, because for him just a fleeting promise between their Shang family and Jiang's would cost his daughter an emotional tragedy, but he cared only because it was his wife's wish.

Actually because of the show and other events happening we slowly realize that Shang Lu is not an average person when it comes to emotional specter, she doesn't understand some emotions, since she never felt them, some points of view are far from hers, but this is the result of her upbringing.

The awekening allowed her to leave the Shang house behind, she completely let go and went all out in the show and was herself. Which completely captivated public and me as a reader. The show was sand sculptures all the way. It also allowed Shang Lu to show herself and get several good acting jobs that completely sealed her glory later.

Anyway, it's a good turn around novel, with humor that cl**ked with me, great emotional line between her and Chi Yan who was the most perfect supporting male role taking the lead. Also supporting characters had a really great focus on them, they also grew from who they were to later better version. Shang Lu had a great sense of variety all the way.

So this is the basic storyline durng the variety show they went from being disliked to being a hit show, also had defeated several jumping vicious clowns, entanglement with exes, good development of a romantic relationship and getting her dream in acting come true.

Also a great thing I find is that Chi Yan was actually the boy who sent little Shang Lu those letters and they figured it out, so it was a complete Happy Ending where she could let go of her past, accept where she is now and look with hope into future.

Honestly, enjoyed this novel a lot. <<less

I liked this novel so much. The MC is realistic and smart and the ML affectionate and loved MC for several years.

But the most hilarious part is the program. The guests are the most hated in the industry for many reasons, but they prove themselves with each episode. It's super fun the dynamics of the guests against the staff (MC ALWAYS WINS).

MC's family sucks. Worst father in history, had deserved ending. But I felt sorry for the brother who was also a victim so I like the extra where he... more>> also had a happy ending

there were some dramatic moments, mostly related to the original MC and ml. I liked their ending. <<less

This was amazing and one of the few books that I'll give a full five stars. The comedy had me constantly laughing out loud, I cried in the emotional parts, I rooted for the romance and I genuinely felt the friendship between the characters.

On terms of plot it was pretty typical of the genre with maybe the biggest difference is that there is no transmigration, The MC had been bound by the plot but aside from loving a scumbag everything else had truly been her own actions. I especially like... more>> that she voted herself onto the "villain" show because she wanted to go onto a reality show that was not scripted and didn't have to pretend friendship she doesn't feel which of course makes it all that more important when she actually becomes really good friends with everyone on the show.

On terms of characters, they were amazing. The synopsis makes it feel like its going to be another shallow harem type where most of the characters are one dimensional apart from loving the main character but they are not they are fleshed out, some of them are s*upid but not in a bad way. They have their own lives and problems that the protagonist (unknowingly in most cases) helps them solve and become overall better people.
Spoiler

Except Mc's dad he's an abusive sh*t bag who gave both her and her brother trauma still fairly realistic though

Funniest thing I've read for a month or two, and the story's good too.

It's good enough that I'm going in raw with google translate. CH 20 translates into CH 09 (the author writes some beefy chapters that I guess the translator didn't want to put up with) if anyone wants to join in.

I rarely like entertainment world novels but this is definitely an exception. Shang Lu is an actress and also the hateful "cannon fodder" fiancee of this world's novel Ori!ML. The story starts when she is bound by a system and finds out the truth about her role and destined "bad ending". She realizes a lot of her past actions related to the Ori!ML (her arranged fiancee) were influenced by the plot and decides to live her own life as she can.

That's when she joins a program about "the most hated... more>> celebrities". Her charm and unique sense of humor led to a totally unexpected result. She found friends, purpose, family and love along the way, as she let go of her past burdens and fears.

In short, this is so much more than a typical romance or "movie queen" trope. Our FL is lonely, witty, mischievous and funny, but she's not mean or overly kind. She's reasonable! I can't believe I found a novel in this genre where I actually thought the FL was making sense and I could relate to her. There's even some moral conflict and reflection about good and evil. The FL is not righteous but has principles and actually does her best when she is faced with a difficult situation, even if it means using some "underhanded" means
Spoiler

She found a sad situation related to bigotry and discrimination against little girls in rural areas, and instead of sighing and leaving it to fate, she found a way to trick the abusive family so she could "adopt" that smart little girl and take her away to the city so she'd be able to pursue her dreams. She became her adopted little sister

[collapse]

I invite everyone with a "2nd male lead syndrome" to heal their heart with this novel. Romance is not big here, but it is warm and satisfying.
Spoiler

The ML turns out to be her only childhood friend, who always comforted her and accompanied her when the scum fiancee was mean to her. He stayed by her side and quietly supported her when she needed it, instead of being the CEO ML who throws resources and money around, he just made sure she could have a fair chance to shine on her own and wished her happiness. His pursuit was subtle and respectful, visiting her, bringing her small gifts and supporting her, moving to be her neighbor to be closer and be able to take care of her better, even helping her practice her lines. That's totally 2nd male lead material but they are actually CP!

[collapse]

Shang Lu is definitely up there as one of my favorite female leads! There's a wholesome found family, quirky funny friends and a great ML. I recommend it to anyone who wants a funny, heartwarming story.
Spoiler

Her biological brother was pitiful but it wasn't her fault. Too little, too late. Sometimes it is too late to go back and mend things so the best result is to wish each other the best.

The humor is exceptional. The variety show characters are very hilarious. Thus, this rates so high despite the technical issues

  • I find this weibo style of writing amateurish, especially as it's not just passing commentary but 90% of the dialogue.
  • The variety show chapters were so drawn out that the "main plot" often got lost. By the 5th episode, I was more interested in her development with other characters like Chi Yan or karma against her family, or proper acting roles. Instead of the same old antics on the show
Despite this,... more>> the MC remains a well developed character. She is not a transmigrator so I feel deeply for her experiencing such a childhood. It is so satisfying watching her grow and detach from meaningless people.

The antagonists are truly vile. My disgust was immense & I wanted the father, ex & mistress to all fall into the deepest pits of hell. <<less

This novel is so light-hearted you don't have to think too much. It's a fresh break from all those brain-taxing novels. Our FL doesn't want to get herself stressed either and all the other characters eventually see through her kindness and return it. Don't get me wrong there are still antagonists but every problem gets resolved anyway.

Spoiler

The ML is also a supporting character lol but you can see his devotion when he's on the sideline. I love how he was loyal to her even when they were in high school.

I love reading novels like this in my downtime.

EDIT: She's not TOO kind. Just enough. She returns all grievances and has a sharp tongue. <<less

my stomach hurts from laughing so much in reading this novel. It's the best from novels of this genre! The romance part was kinda meh but it's not really the center or focus of the story till the end. The side characters are so fun and the group relationship dynamics make me miss them after reading this novel.

The beginning was interesting, but she keeps winning by coincidence and doesn't have any struggles. Typical Mary Sue at this point. She suffered in the past and now the author can just justify it with that, giving the reader the feeling of rooting for the Underdog while she can't lose or it's quickly reversed. I don't doubt that Mr. Chi will save her in the future or the thing with the role that the previous FL and our FL competed over. It's so obvious what will happen at this point.

I kind of dislike how Shang Lu is always right and smart, how she doesn't look she's going to lose in variety shows and the like but outside of that? It's amazing. Her fleshing out turned out to be really nice, it sets her apart from many female characters I read before. She grew up! I also like the side characters as well as how healthy these romantic and platonic relationships are so far.

I am not going to lie, the background of our female protagonist and her brother is... more>> heavy but the movie script later touched on was heavier. <<less

As much as I really enjoyed reading it as a lighthearted novel, I was soooooo bored by the repetitive comedy schticks that I just try to go to the next chapter without reading it just to finish the story. But I just cannot finish it. The pacing and the comedy in the first portion of the story is very good, a nice mix of comedy, little bit of drama and the plot moves. But oh boy I do not know what the hell happened right after

that the plot pacing became snail-like. Not just the pacing, the chapters are just full of comedy fillers that if you can probably remove >10 chapters worth of fillers but the plot remains the same. My goodness, is it excruciating to read.
To be fair, the comedy is really funny and I was really entertained at first. However, if the novel is just full of comedy scenes and no plot progress, readers' are bound to be annoyed and get tired of the novel. I hate not finishing reading stories but I just gave up on this one because it no longer gives me joy while reading. Instead I was just annoyed.
I really love all the characters in here especially the MC. I also love the writing and the humor. The plot is very decent and you can distinguish unique (in context of modern CN novels) plot devices and elements in the story.
JUST PLEASE CUT THE FREAKING FILLERS!!!

Comedy and entertainment wise, it's a 5 star. The characters are very funny and distinct. Their banters are just hilarious. I honestly read it just for laughs alone.

Romance, maybe 3.5. It's pretty average to me and takes about a small percent of the overall novel with the comedy pretty much covering most of it.

The drama? The novel world drama and family drama both felt very lacking to me. Like it didn't really feel to me like it actually had a proper closure neither did it seem like the author wanted... more>> to give focus to it. Og!FL and Og!ML were pretty mediocre and the typical scum-in-the-name-of-true-love. The development to their downfall as well as their conclusion were both anti-climatic. As for MC's family drama, I was hoping for more proper closure for Shang Mu honestly. Like maybe an extra chapter about him. Not that I'm saying his negligence to MC is excusable but I just hope to see him really find healing and peace in himself as a victim because he's left all alone in that mansion, probably also burdened with a company-in-a-crisis, and was kinda told by both the only woman he ever loved and only family he has left that he's a 'past chapter' in their lives. He's mentally broken, and being all alone definitely wouldn't help. Then again the author didn't seem to want to give much focus on the drama but thats a 3.

Also, maybe the story would've been better off without the fantasy elements. The system and novel-world thing seemed unnecessary, really. The system only served as some sort of wake up call for MC and nothing else. And the novel-world setting was practically just really pointless. All that it covered could've passed off as simply just sobering up and seeing things clearly since MC actually clued on it pretty early. <<less

If you want a heartwarming and good story without a lot of drama, this is for you!!

I really like the friendships between the characters, from hating each other into bestfriends! I really enjoyed their interactions and the humor from them loll. This is one of story that showcase a lot of side characters not just always focusing on main leads which I really likeee!

There is not much romance until the latter part of the story. The MC is really likeable and so do all her friends. I really sympathized with... more>> MC about her family and situations but she handled it greatly at the end. This is a bit emotional at early part and has been an enjoyable read! Becoming Popular Through The “All Villains” Variety Show- true to its words. With the synopsis MC changes her fate from the original ver of the novel. Maybe it's because of world consciousness / of novel push that's why she had her previous choices in life. In her later diary she's been writing something against what's her doing in real life about her type of man hhaha. Anyways let's go back with the title and the adventure of our MC was funny, touching + founding true friendship. There are lots of... more>> episodes of the variety show up to 12 ep? from the main guests clashing from one another to having a deep friendship. This was nice to read and watch how they transform. Face slapping to some villain/tr*sh guest, and finally a romance for MC nearing the end. Having a family is really hard there are many things to take note of. Yeah MC is not poor but she lived in a 1 parent family with her father trapped in the past. And their father using violence is very No no huhuhu give some pats to Shang mu and Shanglu. Thanks for the author for giving a glimpse of their life without the father further tormenting them, and yeah wishing for Shang mu happiness. This is how you pull off a villainess white-washing story trope.

Entertaining, straight to the point, no unnecessary dog-blooded drama, karma for the win. I loved reading it, I love Shang Lu, I LOVE Chi Yan. The plot is nothing new: MC finds herself living the life of a villainess in a story & she essentially escapes that role. I think it stands out because she truly does use her own strengths & efforts to leave behind her designed villainess supporting role. Although Chi Yan is there, as our stalwart rich... more>> golden thigh, he’s not the type to really interfere with her business unless it’s absolutely necessary. it's really really good. It's very heartwarming acompany Shang Lu's journey from the most hated celebrity to one of the most love during the variety show recordings. You can really feel how she deserves the success.
