Senior Green Tea Turned Into an Abused Heroine

Lin Xiaocha was a veteran ‘green tea’; she knew her way around playing with love. She could pretend to be cute and innocent, tearing up her opponents, and raised bountiful fish in her green tea fish pond.

She was selected by the system to fulfill the wish of the heroine of an abusive novel, to target the hero and the supporting male characters who were obsessed with the white lotus. And if she were to complete the missions, she would receive generous rewards.

Initially she thought this would be a breeze, her riches were right in her grasp. However, just when the task was about to be accomplished…

She found that she…

Targeted! The! Wrong! Person!

Lin Xiaocha: Don’t panic, I’ll do it again. It’s not a big deal.

Until–

Lin Xiaocha: “Xianjun, why lock up Xiaocha?!”

The cold and pure max-level boss: “Didn’t you say you would stay with me forever, that we would be inseparable in life or death?”

He kissed Lin Xiaocha’s earlobe. “This lord is very sure.”

I couldn't put the book down, it was so good. Very refreshing to read after so many black-belly books. The ML and FL were struggling with their own things and even though I thought the materialistic aspect was pretty strong, she had her reasons for being the way she was (mom). I'm surprised she wanted to go back to her mom after the ab*se she put her through. Overall, the ending was super satisfying.

A very reluctant four stars.

Lin Xiaocha is a green tea bit*h who, in exchange for s*upid amounts of money for each capture target and especially the ML of a heroine ab*se novel, transmigrates to said heroine and begins her rampage of white lotus/green tea face seduction and face slapping. Except, she mistakes the ML and begins an entanglement she can't escape.

In concept, very fun. Love me a good scheming protag willing to be underhanded. In practice, it falls kind of short. The initial capture and scheming is fun and it's... more>> nice to see the MC control everyone with the finesse of a conductor but as the story goes by I kind of like the MC less and less.

She's self aware that she's selfish but most repercussions fall on other people and not her.
Spoiler

to her, the book world is just paper and the people are just paper but it takes her a really long time to understand that and by then, loads of people have to suffer. The whole punishment of the side leads thing is also something I'm not cheering for. They weren't reborn, they aren't great people but were decent enough to MC but still had to suffer for her.

[collapse]

I think a good problematic protag aka one who knows they are green tea or white lotus bit*h has to also be properly self aware and also has to show it but also have redeeming qualities. MC always seems calculated and even when she 'sacrifices' it's with the knowledge that either someone will protect her/save her in time or that it's just a book world or whatever. Even when she wants to draw a clear line she rarely does it properly and every time I think she's gonna improve, she reverts to her coquettish self and it's just frustrating.

Spoiler

I got tired of her acknowledging that ML fell in love with a persona but never properly having a conversation until towards the very end. Yes, both he and you know your acting but if you don't drop it and talk, he'll never understand. If she always deflects or seduces or whatever, it's hard to feel a connection.

[collapse]

I just found their relationship frustrating and her even more so.

Spoiler

even in the happy ending, it's strangely toxic how she forces him to cut his hair by flaunting bikini pics. Modern men have long hair too? Her problem was feeling he never wanted to assimilate into her world but she went for the most extreme option instead of just idk asking him to wear jeans or something and go for a walk.

Oh god the alternate world fanwai is even worse where she plays the seduction/fake white lotus scheme all the way to their wedding and he never finds out about her true self. Also he 'forces' her into s*x and the relationship (even if that's part of her plan, he doesn't know that??? He thinks she's unwilling???).

[collapse]

Not a big fan of their romance. Honestly, MC is a real green tea bit*h through and through and she'd probably be the villain in a heroine ab*se novel. <<less

This is one of those stories where the moment you feel tired of the MC, you'll end up hating the entire story even though you might've enjoyed it in the beginning. And unfortunately- I. Can't. Stand. The. FL. Anymore! I like flawed characters... on the basis that they should have some redeeming qualities (which needn't even all be really positive ones). The MC has none. Even her persistence (in being materialistic) becomes stale after a while. I don't consider her self awareness of her character being sh*t is a plus... more>> point cause I believe that knowlege in absence of action is useless🙄 I've read 50+ chapters and she's got ZERO character growth. I've read from previous reviews that she gets massive character development towards the end and that mostly whitewashes her character but I really can't stick around anymore. And I really wish that the was atleast one male charater who didn't think with his lower half and liked a strong self-assured woman with her own views and opinions and not the weak weepy soft dependant version that FL portrays. Also, I don't know if the romance built on all these lies, schemes and seduction could be considered a real relationship at all.~ So...👋👋 <<less

A very realistic tale on how the main character wins over the male leads' love & face slap white lotuses.

Summary:

Spoiler

The main character (mc) makes an agreement with the original heroine (Lin Wu), from the book she was reading about how Lin Wu was ab*sed by several white lotuses and slag men, in exchanged for huge amount of money to spend several lifetimes. Her task is to gain the love of the first male lead, Shang Yuan, to get 100 million yuan and to gain the love from the rest of the 2nd, 3rd, 4rth, etcs males for another amount of money. She plays the role of an innocent, ignorant of love men and women's love affairs, yet cute and clever girl with a kind heart.

The best part about this novel is reading about her 'innocent' character play, making those male leads feel 'heartbeats' for her. She skillfully pushes them away, then innocently but clevely pulls them closer to her. All the while the men think that they have fallen for her because of their own likes. Although she protrays heself as a selfish women who only loves money, she is actually really kind at heart. In the end, she realizes what she wants more AND she gets her money!! Winner in life!

[collapse]

Many funny scenes, I especially love the parts how the MC skillfully yet innocently tears apart the false faces of the white lotus characters. I kowtow to her IQ. I need to learn how to do this in real life.

The ending was TOO sweet for me. (Maybe b/c I'm single?) But it's perfect for those romance novel lovers that like cute & cuddly scenes.

I would love this novel 100%, but I only like 99.98% of it. The 1% is me sulking and feeling heart pains because of too much cuteness. I'm still feeling the pain of eating dog food in my heart as I write this. Cries~ / (>_<) <<less

You will either love the FL or hate her.

Just in case you have any misunderstanding on the words "Green Tea b*tch, " the FL is not a kind, good-hearted protagonist that you might be used to. In her own words, she said, "I, Lin Xiaocha, am not a good person~"

If you are reading this book while waiting for her redemption arc, you shouldn't. She is a green tea bit*h through and through. She is selfish, manipulative, materialistic and true embodiment on the words "green tea b*tch."

Even after she rediscovered herself... more>> and learned to respect herself, she is still a green tea b*tch.

Don't get me wrong, I love this book because of it. She is unapologetic in being a bit*h and I respect her for that.

Most female protagonist in Asian novels are good-natured, pure (body) and have to restrain her own nature for family/love interest/system's restriction/interest of human kind, while male protagonist could do whatever they want and still be a hero? Why?

Well Lin Xiaocha is not. Her background story is just a background story and not a sob-excuse for her personality. The main theme in this story is a CHOICE, not fate, which I think is pretty big step forward, especially comparing her to the Ori!FL.

From the beginning, FL knows that her mission is just a game. Whether she is successful or not, she will return to her original world. So she never took the book's world seriously, or took any of the characters more than an NPC. She choose to play with the world's various NPC in her hand, she choose to sleep with ML even though it has nothing to do with her "quest", she choose to leave him regardless of her budding feeling, and she choose to save the world's NPCs at the end even though it will fail her mission.

These choices seem to be frustrating for some readers, but hey, it's just an option amongst many options. You might choose differently if it was you, but Lin Xiaocha is Lin Xiaocha, and that was she chose. <<less

I don't even know where to begin. I just can't stand the FL anymore. I'd have to say she's one of the worst FLs i've encountered in my entirety of reading.

Spoiler

Girl is so materialistic, makes the dumbest choices and repeatedly admonishes herself for being an originally cold-hearted person. Her act of being a Green Tea just doesn't cater to me ¿ Sure you can like her, but why does everyone (the males) have to like her sexually or something like that? Just why?

[collapse]

So then there, none of the side characters really stayed with me. If you dislike the MC, you would end up dislking everything. I thought I would like the MC at first but after about 60 chapters, she still hasn't made ANY character development.

Spoiler

Her telling ML that she wants to go back to Shang Yuan (the original ML) just pulled the last straw for me. Dumb choices after another! Honestly, if she had a better reason going back to her world aside from the money, I'd understand her. But NO NO NO! She just wants to go back because she wants to buy her cars, mansions and not for anyone else.

[collapse]

It doesn't help that even the comedy is a piece of dogsht. There I said it. The comedy would probably have worked if the author made the side-characters have more depth to them or if the MC is actually likeable. I'm sorry. Her personality just makes it hard for me to root for her. Maybe its the writing? Either way, I just can't bring myself to like her even with her backstory with her mom.

I was initially going to rate this 3 stars, but this chapter really made me dislike her. I originally couldn't stand her personality anymore. Even if it's just an act, does she really have to act pitiful, weak, and cry everytime? Again, this would've probably worked if the MC actually showed another likeable side of her, but there's really none.

I'm baffled by the 5 star reviews, is it because she'll change for the better after the 67th chapter that'll be enough for me to change my mind of her? ¯_ (ツ) _/¯

In any case, ML deserves better.

edit

F*%k! She really does gain her redemption arc in chapter 70. Girl's finally realizing that all those people are real. Also, the male side characters she seduced finally became more than just being interested in her romantically.

Spoiler

Although its sad (well apparently because thats their only purpose in this story LMAO) they died to save her, atleast the story gave them more depth as side characters.

However, I didn't like when she forced Han Yu to cut off his hair. Girl like why? Is that even necessary? My favorability points dropped again. It's just a nono. The side story just left a bad taste in my mouth, I don't think its good to read any further.
[collapse]

I suspect that this author is deliberately making the readers hate the FL so much -_-#

I'm not really too critical about what I read, as long as there aren't huge misunderstandings between the main couple. I guess what I hated in this story were FL's choices. It's really frustrating how it took her so long to realize stuff, but its better to have a slow change than none, so the most generous rating I can give this novel is a flat 3.0 <<less

The translation for this isn't great. It is readable and you can enjoy the story, but pronouns are often wrong and sentence strucutre is weird sometimes. Thanks for the translation though.

In general, this story is about 60% humor, 25% steaminess, %10 intelligent critique of the genre and 5% sincerity.

The female lead is a schemer that uses her looks and seeming innocene to manipulate everyone else. This is usually fun and justified because she was thrown into this situation to avenge the original truly innocent and hard working Lin Wu that... more>> was ab*sed by all and mu*dered grusomely along with her whole family. So some payback is due, and it is fun seeing it happen. It also done quite well. Especially when she clashes with the "white lotus" that destroyed the life of Lin Wu in the first run.

There are a few exceptions though. Mainly the male lead, who is completely innocent and didn't deserve being played with, but honestly he probably would have remained aloof and alone if she didn't tempt him. Also, the Jin guy, which aside from being arrogant and not particularly helpful in her previous life was never malicious.

This isn't overlooked though, the female lead does feel guilty and she doesn't see herself as a good person. She also suffers a bit for her scheming and improves as a person in the later parts of the story.

A slight spoiler about the type of ending :

Spoiler

The ending is overall happy, but getting there was surprisingly similar to Game of Thrones season 8.

Recommended this novel. It's great read and interesting. My fav novel. MC is my fav character, she is best character. I love the way she pretend to be green tea and tearing out fake white lotus b*tch, she is too great at pretend innocent and kind that all capture targets and passerby falling for her. It's so funny and interesting. MC is likable scheming green tea b*tch.

This novel remind me of seeking good temptation which is also my fav novel.

Sitrus' Tea Time Review

A short, well written novel overall. The story has a comedic undertone but it's quite angsty during certain parts of the book.

The lower rating can be accredited to our FL. My assessment towards her is a blend of conflicting feelings, do I adore her and her #girlboss #gaslight #gatekeep attitude or do I wish her death by 凌迟, a thousand cuts? The author has written a (realistic?) FL with very noticeable flaws. Her character setting centres around being an experienced and capitalistic green tea 表, and personality wise, she is unapologetically selfish and emotionally manipulative.

This is made apparent from the very beginning of the novel continuing to the end. It is not uncommon for her to be brushing up affections with the ML in one paragraph, and then leading on some other unsuspecting sML (s) in the next. Some readers may find this distasteful, but then again, what can you expect from a novel titled as such?

Her key drive is the monetary reward from conquering the affections of the book's male leads. Their value varies depending on their role in the story, with the book's ML being the most valuable, then the sMLs, finally side characters and so forth.

She is uncompromising, detaching from any personal feelings and focused on completing the mission to acquire her profit.

Spoiler

She does this by separating herself as a living person from a book character, believing herself to be subconsciously superior to them -a decision which I will not endorse or criticise. This mindset will be a major factor behind the decision making of the FL in the novel, so proceed at your own discretion!

[collapse]

At first, as I'm reading, I couldn't help but to support for her and for her materialistic dreams to come true, but these emotions do not continue for long, rather it becomes irritation as more chapters continue on;

Spoiler

The FL, due to being assigned to a rather unreliable system that misidentified our ML for the book's ML, chased him and as a result, they naturally fell in love. No surprise there~

However, once she found out his real identity -that is not the book's ML, but rather an unmentioned side character with no mission reward, even when she developed some semblance of romantic interest for him, she still decided to leave him for the novel's ML.

She is -in that sense, consistent (?) though I'm unsure whether this is a compliment or not ¯_ (ツ) _/¯
[collapse]

It may be difficult to like and fully enjoy FL's personality, along with her emotionally immoral scheming, and her tendency to act coquettishly to escape the plight which she brought onto herself. Nonetheless, she does undergo the smallest character development towards the end which makes her slightly redeemable in a sense.

As for the ML; 10/10! Reading from his point of view has always been pure joy. With that being said, the rating for this book should at least be R15. Albeit not very detailed, the scenes between our leads are quite steamy ///
Spoiler

I guess that's the consequence with obtaining the interest of a God ops-

[collapse]

Finally a friendly parting advice; avoid reading the side stories if you already see our FL in a negative light, they certainly left a bad taste in my month, , ,

I really love the premise of the story and I also love green teas with many fishes in her fish pond. The MC here fits my tastes perfectly. She has her priorities straight, a bit ruthless, and a lil bit cruel.

The things I didn't like were the fact that the ML was innocent but he was caught up with the MC's task which hurt him terribly and made him have insomnia for 2 years because she had to abandon him cause he didn't say yes to her fake confession. (I... more>> know that she mistook her for another person, but still) I also hate that the ML had to do so many things for her but she always caused so many troubles. One thing I hated the most is when she forced him to cut his hair by saying they should break up if he didn't. Like what. Girl, let him have control over his body and what he wants to do with it. Why the heck should he change how he looks just for YOU. If you don't want him, gimme him. You don't deserve him.

Anyways, apart from that, it's okay to read. <<less

YEP. 5 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A must read, imo. I read this story in just a day and I'm so sad it's over 😢 The MC might not seem likeable to some, but she's just being true and dedicated to her goal. Although I'm also disappointed about her decisions in some parts, she's just being her and she also said it herself that she doesn't like that personality of hers. The ML is definitely 💯💖✨ he's very old xD he's already 8, 000+ yrs old and is still single until MC came... more>> into his life.

And there's also A LOTTT of scenes that makes u teary and heart wrenching. MC being a green tea btch aside, her being sacrificed everytime is making me sad of the og fl. And mind u, the ML is reallyyy pitiful, MC is so heartless that makes u sometimes hate her. But don't worry, the ending is they also got together. And the extras are awesome too! This is a fun story, and it flows very well. Many readers hate MC's personally, but that is the main idea: she is a green tea, a liar, an insincere player, a selfish and ruthless professional manipulator. I won't friend someone like her in real life, but she stays true with her character in the novel to the end, and that is one more good thing about the novel.

I want to give it more than 4 but I think it is less than 4.5.

She had redeeming qualities though, and near... more>> the end of the story, she finally broke through her own selfishness and gave herself out for others.

I actually regret reading the extras, her redemption at the end of main story comes undone in the extras.

Spoiler

So curious of how the original MC Lin Wu was able to give her 200 millions and set up a system to send her into the book. Does it mean Lin Wu is stronger or more magical than the God Vermillion Bird?

If you love green tea MC then you should read this. Binge read whole chapters in one day and I must say I love the Female MC, and Male Lead. Very smart green tea bitvh skills and the Male Lead is so indulging but not overwhelming. Correct amount of fluffy romance, some tears worthy scenes and the ending also teach one moral life lesson. I would recommend this. Easy to read, no hard political plots, but still adventurous and romantic.

The premise was really good and fun. The system was kinda worthless but the FL (Lin Xiaocha) was definition of seductress and scheming green tea b*tch. Her personality made the story exciting in the first half... HOWEVER, her character also became tiring and frustrating in later part. Interesting concept, somewhat flawed execution.

Many characters only have a voice when they need to help the FL or ML move the plot along and then, even if they are still in the scene, the author forgets about them...

I really liked Lin Xiaocha's two-faced personality in the beginning but her protagonist halo, and weird focus on luxury brands eventually wore me out. The author wants us to believe LXC is very self aware but... girl, if you say *'what's love, can you eat it?'* What about Chanel, Bvlgari, Gucci, Prada??? 10... more>> cars? The size of your purse? *'Can you eat it?'* Being too poor to afford heating or enough food and dreaming about luxury brands instead of the stuff you're actually lacking... meh.

There's development on side characters and not all have a good ending, that's one of the things in novel twist. A sad death for some, a brutal/justice death for some villains. It was a rollercoaster ride and a fresh story for bxg novels. Plus again MC is not mary sue, is not a good girl at the start. <<less

I liked the concept of this story, but I couldn't bring myself to read the romance scenes – I just skipped paragraphs of dialogue for one main reason: the MC being wishy-washy and greedy asf, not caring about the feelings of the ML or taking time to understand things from his perspective ... more>>
Spoiler

especially in the first side story where she deliberately posted a bikini pic knowing he was uncomfortable with it (not very cool of him but again, super old mindset) all because she wanted him to cut his hair short. Controlling, but she's probably used to getting her way with men so understandable, but still not right.

[collapse]
Not a fan of how the ML just puts up with all of the MC's frustrating antics.

It kind of resolves itself in the end but like, just in the end out of nowhere, with no proper build-up. Which is weird considering she's spent like 90% of the story deflecting and crying her way out of situations.

There are also really ambiguous s*x scenes. Both of them are willing, yes, but THERE WAS NO EXPLICIT CONSENT. It's still r*pe because the MC never actually agreed. We know she wanted it because we read it from her perspective, but the ML wouldn't have known. He continued to force himself on the MC despite all of her pleas for him not to (the classic unhealthy trope of "I said no but I actually meant yes") and stated that the way she was putting up a fight made things hotter, or something along those lines. Huge red flag there, lowered my rating from 3 stars to 1 because of this.
