This list is based on my sentimentality, memories of time well-spent, of things close to my heart. Not on the novels' quality (you should still check them all out). I will try to sort them somewhat reasonably, at least.

If you think this list is missing some novels, you should cry about it in your closet. If they aren't here, I haven't read them (or liked them enough). Prolly because they got buried in my 'to read' list. What I tend to like: Strong Characterizations, Character relationships, good world building, excellent writing, great dialogue, realistic romancing (basically mature, not in hs anymore romance)

What I tend to dislike: Shounen (too formulaic and limiting on the stories they’ll tell), Harem (if not for realistic/fit into the story reasons), Romance where the reasons the characters like each other are unrealistic/wish fulfillment/s*upid (I’m looking at you, popular/hot/charismatic girl dates the wet mop of a child cause the plot needs to happen)

Current tropes I have beef with:

1. Girl was protected/saved/impressed once by wet noodle mc in early elementary school, so she’s obsessed with him in high school. Such a lazy plot device and it feels like every damn KOREAN/JP novel has some variation of this. These authors need to talk to real women instead of writing this elementary crap. <<less

I have made a review and rating for every novel I've read on novelupdates. Since they don't have the user friendly capability of sorting a user's read list by rank I made one for myself ordered by best/enjoyed the most to least. The ranking within the same number of stars may not be right because it is usually from different genres, too different to compare with each other haha. Also, I didn't bother to ranked the dropped stories because I don't want to waste brainpower on that. So if I didn't give a rating, I won't sort it.

The other weaker alternative is the Reviews section in my profile but it can only be sorted by likes and date of review not by rank. The reason I want to put my rating and reviews straight in the list is because you can't search for a specific user's review in the novel page if there are too many reviews. You will have to search one by one. Its easier to straight up  see why I put the novel in a particular list plus my review in the list itself. Sigh, novelupdates is really not user friendly. <<less
