The Age of Rebirth: Lazy Man’s Hot Daughter-in-law Has Space

Liang Xiaonan has transmigrated into the body of a girl who had been beaten to death by her scumbag father. She and her brother had been treated very badly by her father since he got married with a woman with 2 children (son and daughter). She has transmigrated to a world similar to earth in the end 60s / beginning 70s.

In her previous life she was a very succesful businesswoman and died of overworking.

In her new life she gets a magical space with a spring well.

The first thing she does when she wakes up is break off her engagement by using force on him (she is physically very strong) and separate from her father. Her brother Liang Xiaobai and her grandmother follow her. 

She starts out by getting fish from the pond and pears from a pear tree by pouring spring water on it and selling this in the nearby town.

Her space tells her she get points by letting people laugh and upgrade her space this way. So she starts telling jokes to her younger brother. She later finds out she also gets points by making people happy.

She can get all kinds of seeds from her space.

She opens a fishing pond to sell fish to a restaurant in town and starts growing potatoes which she will also sell to the restaurant.

She meets Zhou Yan while getting pears from a tree in the forest and he gives her some animals he hunted in exchange for pears. Zhou Yan is from a nearby village and is known as a lazy man. He lives with his grandparents (his parents were wealthy and died) who were intellectuals and teachers. He does not work on the fields.

MC also meets a wolf cub in the forest with his mother who asks her for spring water when he smells her. She asks the wolf cub to guard a few ginseng she planted in the forest. When the wolf cub and his mother try to defend MC's fish pind from thieves they are hunted by the villagers and the mother later dies. The wolf cub is left alone. The wolf cub becomes wary of humans but continues to defend MC's ginseng when it is about to grow fruit and when other animals want to take the fruit. MC and ML are almost killed by animals when they are trying to get the fruit. They are hunted until they manage to eat them to hide the smell. MC hid a few in her space and feeds those to her brother and a few to the wolf.

Pretty soon Zhou Yan offers to grow potatoes on his fields and he proposes to her. MC accepts. 

MC gets attention from higher ups because of the high quality of her crops and fish and she gets a experimental field to grow other plants. A little later she also gets a large field to grow other plants. She decides to start to grow silkworms and creates a factory in ML's village where the people can work or they can grow silkworms at home.

She does not want to create a business in her own town because the villagers treat her badly. This is caused by her stepsister and stepmother and 2 broken engagements. They keep causing trouble for her.

We later find out the stepsister is reborn and is jealous of the life her sister had. She killed her sister and was in return killed by ML for killing her. She is reborn at the age of 12 and has been planning to take over MC's chances in this life. She knows that MC saved a wealthy woman's life and will later be taken in by that woman and her son will fall in love with MC. She will fall in love with the son who never sees her. She decides to change her first name and pretends she is the one who saved that woman when she comes looking for her savure years later. By then she has married a man whom she has poisoned so he becomes impotent. She has also been feeding poison to Liang Xiaobei since he was 10.

When her space grows, MC can grow medicinal herbs in her space and she starts growing ginseng and other herbs in her space. She feeds her brother enough ginseng fruits to get rid of the poison in his body and of a scar on his face caused by his father (instigated by stepsister).

MC notices her brother can sing well and want to let him study singing. ML tames them to a very large city and introduces them to a well-known singer whose health is bad. She also meets her grandparents in this town. It turns out her mother and uncle had been kidnapped when they were children and her grandparents had been looking for them ever since. They recognize MC because she looks so much like her mother.

When MC goes back to her village she decides to dig up her mother and build a tomb for her so her grandparents can visit the tomb. Her mother's remains have been preserved because there is mercury in the ground and it turns out she has been killed by her father. MC turns her father in to the police. He has been told by the stepsister that her mother cheated on him with stepsister's father and MC's father killed her mother because of that. He also believed MC and her brother were not his children because of the lies told by stepsister. 

After the father is imprisoned (he gets executed), the grandmother starts blaming MC. He has always been her favourite, though she followed the grandchildren when they separated. The stepbrother gets fired from the army and starts gambling. He tells grandmother he can hire a master to give her son a good life in the next life. She starts demanding huge amounts of money from MC (100.000 yuan while a salary in the village will be about 20 yuan a month if they have it good). She also sells all the furniture and goods in the house. MC decides to gice her the money and see what she does with it. She sees her handing it to the stepbrother and steals it back with her space (she can take goods from a distance with her space and also sense things from a large distance). The stepbrother gets beaten up by his money lenders when trying to pay back and asks for more. Grandmother gets another 100.000 from MC which she again takes back. This time stepbrother tries to kill grandmother. MC tries to show grandmother he is just trying to con her, but she can't get it and goes mental.

MC decides to feed her grandmother a ginseng fruit and her mentality recovers, but she still blames MC and her grandson for the death of her son.

When grandmother tries to arrange a marriage for MC's brother who is how in the north singing for the army, MC tells her she will file a complaint about forced marriage to the government if she tries to do this. Grandmother has taken in family members who look like her son and planned to marry their daughter / sister to Xiaobei. These family members try to take advantage of MC.

MC decides to sell all the fish in the fishing pond and not grow fish anymore, stopping their plans to get free fish.

There is a large flood in a different part of the country. MC and ML go there to give help. By this time she has a large field in her space and can grow lots of foods very fast. While driving a car their car gets flooded away and MC takes ML intk her space to save their lives (somewhere after ch 400). ML starts experimenting growing crops and harvesting them with the large machinery she has.

MC gets a position as the director of a large state owned company and this way she can more easily get rid of the crops she grows in her space. This becomes a huge success.

MC hears that grandmother now wants to arrange her marriage and destroy her marriage plans with ML. She gets married in the city she lives in now according to the Zhou family rules and arranges a banquet in ML's village. In MC's village the towns people who have improved a lot stop grandmother from interfering in the banquet.

MC takes her hands of her grandmother and does not care for her anymore.

MC gives her brother access to her space and later also gives Xie Haoyun access to her space when he is wanted by the government. Xie Haoyun has been helping MC getting ancient treasures of their country so they won't be destroyed. He travels to America and starts an investment company for them with his people. He later becomes a buddhist monk.

14 years later MC has a daugther and a son. She finds out grandmother has died a few years ago and her father's family has kept this a secret to keep receiving pension. Xiaobei has become a very famous singer and actor. The wolf has become a very powerful leader of a wolf pack.

MC has become extremely wealthy. Everyone now finds out that ML is the owner of a huge shipping yard / company. He started this company when he was about 17.

When the wolf is 35 and MC about 50, he entrusts one of his descendants who is weak to MC. He has gotten old and probably will not live much longer. He refuses to live in her space.

MC and ML enjoy their pension and travel the world, leaving their companies to their children. They have built a large palace and placed all the treasures that were assumed lost in it, so everyone can enjoy and view them.

The antagonist Zang Xinyi (stepsister) remains in the story for a long time. She accuses MC of stealing her credit when planting herbs that help against malaria, tries to poison MC and grandmother with anthrax, poses herself as a fortuneteller to the family that took her in and steals their money (which should have belonged to ML), which MC later gets. She is forcefully married to the father of her ex-husband who want her to give him a child, because ex can't have children because of poisoning. She gets r*ped by different men. Is later forced to marry a violent man (she wanted MC to marry that man), whom she kills by burning him. A monk on MC's side lets her drink something that gives her amnesia. The family leaves her alone in a town far away and she probably dies miserable.

Grandmother had a huge change. I first thought that she was one of few of novels about this era that was good, but that turned out different.

Xie Haoyun's life was saved a few times by MC. He had been a huge underground leader and handed most of his properties to the government. His ex compratiots have been trying to kill him ever since. He helps MC find a huge amount of treasures that families can't keep and she gives food in return. She also helps him sell food to the government for low prices to help the people who are starving.
