Spoiler Alert!!!

I read 47 chapters of this novel and honestly, the uncomfortable feeling was building up in me. So I tried to read the last chapter wanting to know how it would end and I just felt more uncomfortable. The FL is portrayed as a 30 yr strong lawyer who transmigrated. But she acts like a teenager in love. The ML.... He is jealous when FL hugs her brother, praises her brother in law, talks to a male educated youth. For the portion of the story I read, he is... more>> jealous whenever FL comes into contact with a man for any reason. And the FL enjoys it and feels happy about it. This is typical of Chinese novels. I will just think that the jealousy is over the top and ignore it. I can tolerate this much. This was why I came this long.

The part that made me most uncomfortable was how the ML talked about his son. In one scene when the daughter is full, the FL wants to breastfeed her son as well. But he says that, "It does not matter if he is hungry, he is a man." For god's sake!!!! That son was just a few months old. I understand how Chinese novels want to show the ML who has become father as a person who favors daughter over a son. But this was just disturbing that he thought it was all right for a few months child to be hungry because he was a boy. He proceeds to kiss the FL and the FL just enjoys the kiss.

In the last chapter, I saw that he built a gate "INSIDE" the villa so that no one would disturb his time with his wife. And the FL is totally okay with it. She does not look like a mature woman who was a lawyer at all. This story was just about ML being jealous, ML and FL are kissing and making out, and ML dislikes his son.

This novel just left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't event want to rate it. It's just bad. <<less

Novel absolutely not recommended to read.

Extremely short summary:

Author writes that MC is a crossed strong independent lawyer woman then makes her a hysterical whiny fodder girl who has to be protected by ML, allows herself to be assaulted and goes crazy the instant she’s separated from ML despite nothing happening. There’s also your typical Chinese male rapist case in the scum chinese village, fodder villain girls planning on using drugs and ruining reputations, and all sorts of other plot nonsense.

Novel is poisonous garbage. A classic example of bad romance story... more>> of Chinese educated youth in village. -900Hextillion/10.

P.S. Never understand why authors tend to emphasize bad romance lines as if they’re the pinnacle of their writing. “Let me handle things” is somehow the equivalent of a god-like pickup line that makes women feel protected smh. <<less

I love this novel, it was cute and I felt it was romantic. I pushed this aside thinking the reviews were right but Honestly there are some radical feminists who are soo ugly can't enjoy a simple romantic story. The FL is independent and has a mind if her own very rational and ML is soo cute the villain turns fluffy y'all just the right amount of fluff and jealousy he really treasures her but gives her her own ground because he knows she can do everything. Anyways read with... more>> a open heart this a one of my favourite novels <<less

Quick point by point. Mild spoilers - be warned.

Cliche transmigration to an educated youth in 70's China story.

Not patriotism heavy.

... more>> No golden fingers or other plug in supernatural phenomenon.

No Mary gary sue. No solve all and everything to dust. Very bland faceslapping.

Minor problems that accumulate and just hits you wrong -

Though the MC is supposedly a jaded mature 30 year old lawyer, post transmigration she comes across as a youthful woman who is extreme family and husband oriented. Nothing about her stands out other than that she gives good advise. She is quite complacent and she didn't really have any character growth or problematic situations to engage her. All that was on the ML. She's the kind of character that the more you pay attention, the more issues you find. Felt like the author tried to make her self reliant but failed miserably. She quite reliant on her husband and shows little to no initiative or strong opinions. All of what she achieved is dependent on the ML or her brother relationship.

The ML comes across as a cold gangster like character initially but turns into a simpleton as the story progresses. He's capable, family oriented, typical of his time. Knows when to proceed and when to take a step back. He takes the limelight most of the time. The author tries to make him un-patriachal but the execution made him seem chauvinistic. The female lead goes along with this too. You'll find him funny but that's about it. Honestly the poor guy didn't get any substantial benefits for marrying a transmigrator. And where are his villian characteristics? What happened in the original storyline?

Grandma is awesome. Kids are a bonus! I was more invested in the stories of ML's sister and aunt.

The passerby characters all seem to exist for gossiping. The impression it gives of chinese people is bit misleading and not wholely positive as the author didn't balance the good and the bad out equally. Especially in middle and latter parts of the story. The original book male female protagonist were forgotten and never followed up with. So were some of the more key supporting characters in the beginning.

Rushed abrupt end. Felt like the original story intention was forgotten somewhere along the mid chapters.

Overall, meh read. <<less

It’s really a slice of life novel without much event, but with the slight flavor of that time period. The only thing is that since the novel is short, there will be a lot of time skips beginning at the middle of the novel. The main interest point is that the novel is pretty relaxing but Except for the main couple being lovey-dovey, there isn’t much happening

It’s an uneventful novel. The romance part was very quick and short-lived. Still female and male lead story is cute. There is no golden finger, no third party, barely any drama.
