Jiang Wang fell into a lake due to a car accident and found himself back to twenty years ago.

In 2006, house prices were cheap, e-commerce was booming, and there were plenty of business opportunities everywhere.

But the first thing he did was to save his seven-year-old self from a drunkard’s house. The child kept crying non-stop with his eyes swollen red, “You… are you going to sell me, hiccup.”

The man with a sullen face threw a pack of tissues to the child, and went to the balcony alone to smoke.

‘How could I be so virtuous when I was a child.’

*Sweet and refreshing healing story
*There is a huge contrast between the character of the present male protagonist from when he was a child

this is really sweet. First and foremost it is not self-sest the ML is the primary school teacher that was his only light when he was a kid. This story is about someone healing his past wounds from childhood by adopting a kid and falling in love with the kids teacher with the twist being that the kid is his younger self. Its fairly good and most of the focus is on child raising with his business being next and finally the romance after that, so if you want romance first then I wouldn't really suggest it though the romance isn't bad

"If I tell you that I am going to be your future self, what do you think?"

Transmigrated to twenty years ago and adopt myself is an emotional journey. Our MC, who lived a desolated and cold life, got a chance to go back to the past with his own body and identity still intact. He met his younger self who struggled facing his abusive father and immediately took care of the child. Through out the story, we could see how MC tried his best to give the best life to... more>> his younger self while having mixed emotion as he kept seeing the child showed his innocent and positive attitude in facing all the unfairness the world had given to him. MC slowly began to unfold his true feelings and hidden desires that he kept suppressing in his previous life. Together with his younger self, now his brightest star, and his white moonlight, now his lover, he learned that life is truly a precious give and he must cherish it to its fullest. <<less

Started to MTL this after breezing through the available chapters, but flatly couldn't go on. I felt it a great pity that such good writing (and translating!) was wasted on the usual "there's a reason they ab*sed their children" type subplot. I feel like a lot of authors who write this kind of thing are reaching for meaning and reasons that all fundamentally don't matter when you put it next to the fact of the year-long ab*se they depict.

The reason doesn't matter in that kind of situation. Once, you can... more>> maybe think about the reason, but it's never just once. I felt it was really ironic that
Spoiler

the MC made a little speech/warning to his mother about that re her currrnt shitty relationship, too, so you know the author understands that concept. But of course the MC began taking care of his shitty father anyway because, it's his father. Vomit.

Transmigration is impossible? Wouldn't the kid look identical to him in the future? Is he too soft on his parents? Who cares. My soul has been healed.

The story is more about the adult JW and less of mini JW. After all no matter how he tries, his own past experiences aren't changing. And it's not like he forgave his father but he's getting the closure he needs. His father has always been an object of terror in his mind but now seeing him be that pathetic really removes that association.... more>> It's more of how he's letting go of the past rather than forgiving or giving second chances. Although I like how he's letting mini him get the choices he didn't get. <<less

I feel sad for the MC...

Everytime he witnessed his younger self getting along with his parents while he cannot tell his parents that he is the older version who transmigrated 20 years back.

He got to see his younger self getting along with father and his mother while they didn't know that the "cousin" who was always helping them was also their child.

Especially when he bought the 10 yuan cake 😭

It's really great that he got together with the MC!

Utterly floored. I usually go out of my way to specifically search for #Semeprotagonist tag because I'm so tired of subpar characterization and inequal relationship dynamics, and I find the MCs are usually more understandable and the MLs not so annoying. I didn't touch this story for a while because I really was not interested in going back in time and raising yourself, but reading it, I was so !!!!! The entire time.

There's a meaningfulness to the interactions between MC and his childhood self. It's good stuff--younger MC has a... more>> developed enough personality he's both endearing and straightforward and funny, so all their interactions really shine especially because the story also deals with how it allows us to see the relationship the MC has with his parents as both a child and as a current adult. Also the parental figure he is to younger him--being the person he needed.

Spoiler

Despite all their history, he cannot just walk away from alcoholic abusive drunkard father when he was tossed drunk into garbage. The father--who is given a breadth of depth just by the fact we Know he's been trying and seeing him from an adult's perspective, he's really just an unfortunate, cowardly, weak-willed man who even though he ab*sed his son-- he does love his son and want the best future for him, and his son loves him. It's lovely to see this complexity not only here but also with his remarried mother, who he recalls only distantly because she abandoned him. It's bittersweet and a little heartbreaking to contrast how younger self vs MC have different relationships with their parents, and I think really such a strong theme to this story is parenthood--and the different people who raise us and how we transform to become the people we are.

[collapse]

Excellent by this alone, but the ML!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 Wow I couldn't help but falling in love with him lool mostly because he really felt like another person. I mean can I say WRITING IN DEPTH 😩🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️

Spoiler

Because we learn bits about him at a time just like MC, but it's such an appealing (the knife playing, the subtle moment in the car that MC observes, etc) because there's so much SHOWING rather than just telling (thank u writer bless u longevity) that shows up in bits and pieces as the story progresses. Again this duality of experiencing the people you saw before as a child vs. Now as an adult--different faces depending on the situation or people (not hypocritically, but you know, just like a reg person where you can't hope to know everything). Story is so good about the jarring juxtaposition, and the appeal for me is just that ML deliberately chooses to be KIND and so good to his students and not even being married in his fifties :"0 I wonder why and I just rly want MC and ML to get together I ship them so bad sksksksk

This was such a good read even when I’ve only read it mtl. I bet if I read it when its fully translated properly it would be even better. It doesn’t dig deep through the trauma of child ab*se but it does handle it pretty well, it also shows the faces of the ab*ser and the ab*sed. It tackles second chances with a pretty lovely romance (well for me it was quite satisfying) and business growing to top it off. Bl? With childcare? Always gonna be my fave.

The romance portion... more>> of this is really subtle, not much drama but you know prejudice was a big factor of course. Childcare was not to the point that every detail was wrote off but it still gave off the sense of fluff. Overall this one is a great find indeed, worth binge reading for and I will totally read again once the translation is completed! <<less

I had read this novel years ago but I still remember it very clearly as one of my favourite novels.

Its amazing. The plot is good, the characters are good, the romance is good. The childcare is good. We have an intelligent MC and ML and our MC is a seme which is one of my favourites. I am so happy this got picked up. Guess its time to read it again lol.

A beautiful novel, completely different from the typical approach to rebirth/time travel. There is no revenge plot, no fantastic money making out of smoke, no farming. Instead, there is a hardworking man with good ideas, who slowly builds a better life for himself and his younger counterpart. The social and emotional issues, which arose from both of them handling the original's divorced and enstranged family, are expertly and realistically presented in the story. The social and economical transformations initiated by MC are both fun and interesting, and follow a very... more>> unorthodox approach. <<less

Ahhh this is a slow, slice-of-life novel with strong, healing vibes! Perfect if you're in the mood for steady character development imbued with loves of subtext! The initial premise --- the time travel --- is definitely a bit fantastical, but the rest of the story is very calm and realistic. Each character has both good and bad points, and these complexities allows what could have been a relatively boring setup to become extremely meaningful! I really like it, but I'm in the wrong mood it so I quit early so... more>> that I can come back to reread it when I'm in a better mindset later on!

Summary: The MC (Jiang Wang) ended up travelling twenty years into the past. At this time, his past self was jut six years old, and he was not living well because of an alcoholic father. After arriving in this timeline and realizing that he can't go back to the present, he decides to visit his old home and ends up taking away his younger self. The rest of the story that follows is mostly focused on this development. That is, the dynamic between the old and the young. As well as the complicated situation with the parents. And, oh! Of course, the budding love between the MC and ML (who is the younger MC's current teacher). <<less

I started reading this because of how interesting the premise was from reading the summary. What I didn't expect was how wholesome, heartwarming, reflective and sweet this novel was.

Note: this is not self-sest

and the ML is his teacher who cared very much for him.

[collapse]

The journey of the MC when he goes back to childhood and dealing with his pain (and trauma) in ways I actually didn't expect, but absolutely loved. The story revolved around how MC was seeing his past in a different light, understanding how things happened not because of him, but because of circumstances beyond him and his control, and how to accept, forgive... and finally let go.

The MC's story had moments where it touched me so deeply, I couldn't help feel so emotional. This novel doesn't have a lot of face-slapping but problems and solutions I feel were dealt with in the best way that felt so real and healthy - which I absolutely loved.

Bonus was that it's seme protag and child raising which is the cutest.

The romance is slightly secondary, but that doesn't take away from how lovely and wonderful this novel was.

Both translators did an amazing job. Highly recommend.

It's been a long time since I read (and reread) the MTL, but this story is definitely worth a read among all of the translated novels. The main character is not perfect. That is kind of the point. His past led him down the path to become who he is now and he wants something better for his younger self.

He sees his past self and can't bring himself to leave the situation alone: potential paradoxes be damned. He is willing and capable to take care of the child when he... more>> knows his parents never will be fully capable. He can never truly forgive them, but he can make his father presentable in front of his younger self and unable to cause harm. He is over his own past and can't truly connect to the child as "himself". So much changed for him over those 20 years that they are very different people: he simply can't standby and coldly watch the child suffer when he knows what will happen to him down to the last detail. It is truly fascinating how the two truly develop as individuals as he leads his former self down a happier path. And the love interest is great! I had serious doubts about how he might find love living among his parent's generation, but the author handles it perfectly.

Spoiler

About the two developing as individuals despite being the same person:

They even have different s*xual orientations, but not in a way that would offensively imply that the MC could have been a heterosexual, had he grown up in a healthy environment. Their choice of partner is a matter of personal history, in a sense, but not in the way someone sensitive to such implications might expect. It is true that he would have never developed a romantic relationship with his former teacher without the transmigration, even though this person had always had a special place in his memories since childhood. The circumstances are simply different now that he and the teacher are interacting as peers. He sees a new side of the teacher, as a fellow adult, and naturally falls in love. His child self will never feel that way for the teacher, because he is too young and does not have the same singular attachment to this person as his adult self. The teacher is a full on parent figure to the younger self.

It's really not complicated or a big deal within the plot. One of them happens to fall for a man and the other has a crush on a girl. It does not mean in any way that him liking a man is a problem that needs fixed, although some characters to not respond kindly to the adult's relationship. I do seem to recall that the older self felt some relief upon noticing that his younger self seemed to prefer girls, but I think he ultimately just wants his younger self to be happy and recognizes that the time period is not friendly to homosexuality. I suspect this relief is that his younger self will continue upon an easier path than his own, but he never tries to influence his younger self to follow his ideas. He respects that the child has his own likes and dislikes and opinions. That's it. He would have definitely supported the boy even if he fell for another boy.

And thankfully this means the two won't have a weird situation of falling into some weird love triangle where they both like the same person.

This is good slice of life. More on the business part and side romance. It show how daring MC can be as he already know what will happen or what growth happen in economics in the future. I like it.

The most of the beginning story also revolves around MC, his childhood, his family, and his feeling. I know many people hate MC's parent but let's remember the lyrics on song with title "Older" by Shasa Alex Sloan.

I just remember to write cause I am arrive at chapter 98. Where the... more>> couple separated and you-know-why cause if not you need to read the novel.

My mind was so messed up that I keep knocking all over the place and got mad to myself. Good gracious that I haven't knocked my glass cup that I put at the corner of the table.

I wanna cry

___

Update:

It's actually... solved in the next chapter..

Okay, I didn't expect it at all. I tho it's would be another long journey but it's 98 for fck s sake and completed in 102.

This is beautiful and relaxing and I don't know, maybe satisfying?

The cause of why he come back didn't explained. It's not important anyway, right? 😂

That was a great read. Found family, raising a smoll bean, establishing businesses using future knowledge, all amazingly well done plot points.

I love Jiang Wang, I love Ji Linqui as well, not to even mention Xingwang. Seeing XW go from an under fed, under loved, abandoned, scared little boy, to one surrounded by love, warmth, and comfort just soothed something in my soul.

Highly recommend this read, for our love of green flag MCs, learning to love themselves and each other

WOW....

Truly, I just randomlly started this book. no recommendation or no posts! just got a hold on it so suddenly... it would be better if I had someone, so I could just dump all my emotions & experience onto them because c'mon man... how can I give any review now?! it's too lovely to give a simple review! anyway It's been a while since I gave a review, so it may be very bad.

however, not many books can carve their position easily in my heart. but this one.... seriously, I... more>> bawled my eyes out & rolled on floor from my violent laugh at the same time. just imagine how a rollercoster ride I got.... I cried in one line while I grinned like a fool in another. I never expected this novel to be so heavy. just thought another fluffy parenting themed. but I got scamed anyway & left in daze.

Spoiler
[collapse]

to be exact, I love the books where the author remembers & puts little but beautiful details. I'm not an expressive person but I do love the small meaningful gestures which the author gave beautifully! like my heart ached so much but I couldn't cry. but I bawled unknowingly. it's a lovely novel.

some of the authors' points I didn't like, no offence but as a reader Xingxing's liking girls or his moving out from Jiang-Ji's household is something I never really wanted. but the author really gave a good explanation for it. again I HATED Ji Linque's mother from the very start & I always will. Respecting love is not hard.... they both suffered. & one will surely feel the family pressure which the author wrote so beautifully if they experienced even a slight... the family thing is something that will hold you down even if it's intentional or not. every child deserves their parents support & understanding.

Again, I felt motherly love for Jiang Wang & Ji Linque. my child, Jiang.... he suffered a lot. he deserves all the love & warmth. he never really grew up. just a loving child.

I'm still saying, this novel will drown you in your own tears but also smile wide like a fool. their affection, understanding, snyc, little words.... is all so painfully lovely.

Jiang Wang, the ruthless businessman, long-taild wolf who's a total pe*vert to his Teacher Ji & heart full of child innocence. While our Teacher Ji, the gentle looking but secretly the bold teen aka rabbit (Jiang said), wants freedom, a loving mother to Xingxing & hopelessly in love with President Jiang.

which is more lovely is that our President Jiang doesn't hesitate to act all coquettish to his wife while Derector Ji loves to indulge his all demands. really there's no need to have one act like the submissive one to prove he's the bottom (though in certain time (cough) ;-)) they both pamper each other & loves to get pampered.

highly recommend. DON'T PAY MIND TO THE 2/3 STARS. Just read it.

wish the author best wishes.♥ <<less

It was very nice and heartwarming but it still had some moments where it was kind of slow and boring for me. Nevertheless those moments have charm for many but not me. I just wanted it to get to the point faster.

Honestly I was just impatient since there actually wasn't that many slow chapters.

Anyways, the concept felt a little weird to me but it was still good.

The plot is interesting. I haven't read a novel like this when you transmigrate and save yourself. Much less raise yourself.

I think they might be a plot twist here.

If he get on a relationship with Teacher Ji. What will happen in the future when little Xingxing grow up and start to look like him.

... more>> I notice the two have the same mole under his left ear.

Very sexy. Did teacher Ji notice it too when they were in the car?

How will this sexy Teacher Ji fall for Jiang? So excited to know more <<less

I’ll put this on my comfort danmei list!! It was such a heartwarming read. And there were moments that felt too realistic and will hit you right in the feels.

There were no extras but I don’t mind. Because the story was already satisfying. And that ending?? Damn! I cried because it’s so healing!
