Some of these I read several times because even though I don't like tragic plots, sometimes I like a story with heartbreak... I removed the action and adventure titles and put them in my Action BL rec list instead.

Modern settings only. Includes shounen ai, yaoi, and BL with smut. Too many titles to sort in order of personal preference, so I sorted them alphabetically.

I tried my best to leave some trigger warnings on this list where I think some readers might find objectionable content (there seems to be more of that in dramatic and action oriented novels). I hope that people can take the genres labeled Adult and Mature as well as tags like R*pe, R*pist Becomes Lover, S*xual Abuse etc seriously. I think it's always a good idea for people to check tags and reviews of a novel before starting out, otherwise you can end up wasting time because halfway through (or even further on), you read something that is upsetting and then drop the novel. That's a habit I picked up after reading a ton of manga and webtoons. It's also very useful with novels! If you want to do that with Western novels, I would check out the website/app Goodreads (which also has Asian web novels, mangas and more listed there along with reader tags and reviews). <<less

BL (of all genres) that leave you with a paradoxical feeling of completeness and emptiness after finishing. Completeness because the plot, characters, romance, world-building, etc.... more>> are all so well fleshed out. Emptiness because you either want to stay a bit longer with the characters in their world, or rather, you know that the story has reached its satisfying ending, and that this is where the art should end. <3 The BL & danmei world is a treasure trove of all sorts. Since the list reached 1oo positions, I created its second part, however they will be _both_ updated if and when new titles appear or get licensed, with new title's place based on the novel's popularity and/or whether the author's other works are on the list already. Novels I read that are not on NU (right now ig): 1. Did I Do Something Wrong By Confessing To The School Idol On The First Day I Transferred To A New School? (Good, but seemed rushed)

2. I Heard You Only Think Of Me As A Friend. (Pretty nice)

3. The Infatuated Cannon Fodder Quits. 《痴情炮灰不干了[穿书]》

I really like the ML in the story. He is a flirtatious, shameless, teasing, sensitive and sweet bastard. Overall enjoyed the story very much, definitely ended up wanting a dozen extras or more. 

4. After Crossing Into A Book I had s*x With The Future Boss. (I'm willing to bet mtl f*cked this title up but I'll let it be because it's funny) 

Raw title: 《穿书后和未来霸总HE了》

I feel like ML should've had some development in his character? He needs to loosen up a bit, atleast to MC, his lover for f*ck's sake. I'll give it a 3 out of five. Maybe 2.9

5. The Person You Like Is My Boyfriend. 《你喜欢的人是我男朋友》
su*cide warning, mental illness, very (sexually) experienced ML.

6. Forgot the English name, oops. It was an okay read, like 3/5?《给躁郁Alpha当抚慰剂》

7. Jade Wushang. 玉无双
A tragedy, I still think about it late at night sometimes.
