I read this entirely in MTL and didn't really suffer much from it (so in terms of comprehensibility, there's no issue.) Of course, the main object of concern is the content of the novel itself LMAO, which is not bad. Typical get-rich story with an overly powerful FL (her golden finger is her business acumen and variety of skills from the previous life, PLUS a mysterious ability to intuitively sense valuable objects and propositions) and a loyal dog ML. Halfway... more>> through, it got a bit boring, I admit, and I skipped/skimmed most of the content (because it became more and more plot-driven than character-driven), but the fact that I persisted till the very end says a lot. SUMMARY: The FL of this story was the daughter of a nouveau richer in the Capital. When she was 16, her father forced a divorce upon her mother and chased her away, leaving her in a family that favored an illegitimate son over her. She spent her entire first life pleasing this family and never getting any rewards. Until, finally, she died in a kidnapping incident and was reborn. The night she came to was the night of her mother and father's divorce. Not wanting to stay with the family who used and then dumped her away in her last life, she resolutely left with her mother, despite the fact that they had almost nothing.

From then on, she vowed to live better than her old family and gave her all into business. First, starting out small businesses to earn capital, making connections with some big families with the use of her foresight, and then making everything bigger and bigger. In the meantime, she and her mother picks up a boy about two months older than her, who speaks and acts like your typical white lotus XD. This is the ML of the story, and he pretty much holds up the romance of the novel by himself till the very end (the FL is the business oriented type who scarcely cares about romance).

RATING: I give this story a 3.85/5!! Quite good for a poor-to-rich story. Some of the escalations were a bit repetitive, but there were always some small surprises in between to keep you interested. Plus, the characters are really likeable. Even though there are low IQ cannon fodders constantly showing their  presence, at least the author does something different by reforming those that can reform and not completely beating them down inexplicably like in most similar novels. <<less

SUMMARY: The FL, Ning Yi, transmigrated from an apocalyptic world into a brainless "pet novel". The original owner of her body was the newly married wife of the Big Boss, Gu Cheng (the ML). The original owner was involved in a fake&real daughter swap (she was the real daughter of a relatively rich family but was raised in the countryside, while the OG!Heroine was the fake daughter that found out that her biological parents were even richer than her initial family). Due to this, the mentality of the original owner was not so good, leading her to torture Gu Cheng, who was in a vegetative state (unable to move, but fully conscious) when they were married.

Anyway, the FL knows all this and has no plans of following the original script. Having come from the apocalypse, all she wants is to just live life as a salted fish (AKA eat and sleep!). She decides that hugging the thighs of Gu Cheng is a must so that she doesn't end up being killed off -- which is made possible after realizes that she can not only communicate with Gu Cheng mentally but also switch bodies with him at will. From then on, the two live their life in a very silly vanilla modern day setting, occasionally coming into contact with the heroine (who also knows what's coming up next in the plot.)

THOUGHTS: Although I was skimming a lot by the end (this novel is longer than the chapter count implies!!!) I still read the novel till the end, and I like it quite a bit. The main characters looked very simple at first glance, but they're actually more complex than most main characters in CN novels XD. They (aside from the ridiculous original!heroine and original!male-lead) also interacted like human beings. You know, there's substance in their communications, which is rare and always appreciated by me (a person who enjoys character-driven novels). It's true that this novel is not what I was expecting (for some reason, I thought this was an Apocalypse Novel ONLY, I didn't realize it was modern day.... xD) and it's a bit too vanilla for my usual tastes. BUT! I liked it a lot and I do recommend it. For that reason! I'm giving it a rating of 3.85/5!!! (BTW The MTL is not bad. On one hand, I really like that it’s so character-centric, on the other hand it’s so mentally draining with the constant hit or miss drama! Anyway, I digress, the main premise is that the FL, an abandoned wife who was forsaken by her husband who had a childhood sweetheart, is reborn. When she is reborn, she wakes up in a sedan, so it’s too late to back out. All she can do is head straight into the pit that led to her despair and death in her first life. She has no special powers or skills, and... more>> she’s not really all that brave. Still, she musters up enough courage to present a one year contract with her new husband (the ML, yes! The ML) : Fake couple, after one year they can divorce so that he can marry his scheming childhood sweetheart.Despite her foreknowledge, the FL doesn’t have much advantage. She suffers both wins and losses, and will be dragged through time and time again until literally the end of the novel. This isn’t really a romance novel, so don’t read it for that. Instead, I think it’s better to read it for the picture it paints in regards to the people and culture at the time.

This is Ancient China and there are strict traditions to follow. This novel highlights that very clearly. It’s all internal house matters as well. Covering not only the FL and ML, but also the ML’s complex wealthy family and the FL’s small and poorer family. In any case— Don’t read this expecting to have a good time, it’s very frustrating and the characters aren’t likeable! Read it for the complex characters instead! They’re not likable, but they’re more realistic than most. The author gives a clear reason for everything that they do, so even if you don’t like them, it’s easy to care about what happens next.

The drama, while frustrating, is interesting as well. It’s usually never boring, though some parts I did skip. As for the TL, the chapters pst 260 are locked and the MTL is unreadable... I personally only quickly skimmed through the last chapters (and thank god, cause if I read it, I think my opinion would have lowered by a lot, the ending is ridiculous). I’m only counting the first 260 chapters for this review, in any case.

[Transmigration, Modern Day, Slice of Life, Childcare] I ended up enjoying this novel more than expected --- to the point that I think the actual rating is a bit low --- but I also understand why the rating is low? LMFAO. Anyway! Brief summary on the premise: The FL (Yan Shuyu) transmigrates into a book she had read where the male lead has a stepmother and stepbrother who did everything in their power to steal his father's affections. Her role was the stepmother in this case! And she transmigrated right when said stepmother was seducing the protagonist's father (ML, Zhou Qinhe). Not wanting to get involved, she runs off as soon as she realized... more>> this was the case and decides to stay away from the plot completely so that she can save herself and her new son from their bad ends.

This is pretty much the general development of this novel from then on. The ML, having become interested in the runaway little seductress, starts to appear in her life. The FL, of course, is very against this at first, but slowly she begins to fall into the net and is unable to extricate herself. I found this actually pretty amusing. The novel is good in my eyes because it has a very well-structured development. The characters felt real because each one had something they wanted and they all had their own ways of doing it.

As for why I thought the novel's bad rating was not surprising, it's mostly because of the FL's character profile. She's the type of FL who is very ditzy, she's a little fool basically. She's definitely amusing, but the reason for her making it to her happy end was all based on luck. She wasn't trying hard at all. So, you can say that the plot and the surrounding characters made a red carpet for her while she did nothing but be funny. For this reason, a lot of the developments felt cheap. Especially since she never really changes in the end. I thought she would eventually come to some realization, but nope! She stays exactly the same. Ditzy, vain, and more than a little heartless.

I don't dislike her character, I thought she was charming in her own way, but the development was definitely disappointing. And the repetitiveness and inconsistencies in her train of thought (especially in the beginning) was somewhat annoying. ANYWAY, I really think the story is not bad. At least, not as bad as some of the other BG novels I've seen. The TL is also not bad. It's not the cleanest, and the fact that the chapters are cut so short makes it a little bit frustrating to navigate, but its readable (actually, the MTL is readable as well, I ended up checking it out on the side, so yeah, no reason not to give it a shot~)

This is the kind of story that I feel half-and-half about. I enjoy poor-to-rich stories where the MC struggles to improve his/her circusmtances. And, the slow pace and the epic length of this fic make it a very good story to try. Unfortunately, its length and slow pace can also be said to be the reasons why it's not so good. That is, it's the reason why the story is filled with all sorts of filler conflict with poorly developed side villains and no character development for the main characters (because if they... more>> learn from their mistakes, of course, there would be no story to write LMFAO.) I stopped reading when I did, even though I had initially intended to read the MTL, because I felt like I needed a break from the novel. It's very exhausting. It's one trouble after another. Of course, it's also satisfying in a way, but too much is too much.

By the way, the first time I tried to read it, I gave up after only 5 chapters, but after a second look, it's not so bad (I made it to c467). The translation is of good quality and I enjoy the poor-to-rich/slice-of-life aspect of the story.

SUMMARY:

The basic premise is that a transmigrator transmigrates into an Ancient Chinese setting as the orphaned eldest sister of the Lian Family. She has three younger siblings and no memories of the original owner's experiences, which already spells trouble, never mind the noisy Yang family who wants to break her engagement with their precious Son and the MC's greedy paternal family.

The focus of the novel are usually split between drama and the business management aspect (though the author does favor their drama -- like 85-90% of the time). I recommend reading this if you're looking for a face-slapping novel. The romance is slow-burn and not the focus at all (the ML was very behind-the-scenes, and I assume he will remain that way until he remembers that he's a general, which hasn't happened in the 500 chapters I've read lol). I even felt like their start was a little too forced the second time I reread this, and that the ML doesn't have much of a personality. All in all, I wouldn't say that the novel is not the best but worth reading (at least, it's not as bad as most mary sue novels out there. The MC is likable, and the drama, while sometimes unbearable, can be skipped pretty easily.) <<less

So, even if nothing truly exciting happens, you can't help but get the feels from the experience.SUMMARY: Su Yue transmigrates to the 1970s with a system in her head. It only gives out one sole task: overturn the ML's (Han Aiguo) bad luck through effort. To help her along. She's given access to a system shopping mall and the ability to have prophetic dreams. This is not really the focus of the story though. It's just a very small part of a short slice-of-life story between an optimistic FL and a steady ML. The ML, in this case, had lived most of his life in misfortune, so her existence provided him with a new hope for the future.THOUGHTS: I'm sticking with the rating I gave before (3.8/5!) it's pretty accurate I think? The romance and the MC are also a bit disappointing — they're total MarySues/GaryStus. But, anyway, if you're into poor-to-rich and interested in this particular era, it's not a bad read. This time, I went further along, almost reaching the 1000th chapter, and I have to say, my impression didn't change much. SUMMARY: The FL, Gu Qingyao, had been traumatized early on in her first life because of a couple of cannon fodders, causing her to waste a lot of her youth recovering. Fortunately, the ML, Mo Beihan, stuck to her no matter what. Helping her slowly come out of her shell and heal from the accident that ruined her life. It's just that fate isn't very kind. Just when the two were finally preparing to get married, their lives were cut off in an accident. This should be the end, but the two find themselves waking up in the past, on the day of that first 'accident'. Of course, with memories of the future, the two were able to easily change the trajectory of fate. And from then on, their path forward is pretty smooth.

This is the kind of story where the FL and ML don't go through many hardships. Sure, they have their share of cannon fodders to deal with, but overall, they don't face much difficulties. Not only does the FL have a cheat in the form of a magical space (which can both be used to store things and grow things — tho, tbh, it's not really used to it's fully extent), but they both have hidden backgrounds that will allow them to stand tall in society when the time came for the country to open up (this novel starts off in the early 1970s)

THOUGHTS: TBH, this novel isn't all that good. The quality is a little iffy. But when compared to other novels of the same type? It's quite outstanding LMAO. At least, it should be enough to keep you interested if you generally like poor-to-rich stories set in this era. Just make sure to keep your expectations low. I knew rereading this that the FL and ML were unnecessarily OP, and that their romance was pretty much set (their marriage is delayed again and again but there's no doubt about them getting together from the beginning since they were both reborn — OH, BTW, the two won't admit to being reborn to each other for a while. Just ignore it, else, you're only going to get agitated.) Anyway, those two are the main characters but their relationship is definitely not the focus. The author introduces quite a big cast, and a lot of them get more screen time than the ML (honestly, I also find it weird that the author kept his businesses so vague. Even the so-called family business of the Mo Family was kept completely mysterious XD.)

I can go on, BUT in short. If you want to read this, try not to be too picky XD. Otherwise, you may find yourself wanting to ragequit. Bah, if I continue like this, I make it sound unreadable HDKDKDKDKD, which is not true. It's pretty fun if you're into such stories. Just not the best. Ah, speaking of... Since I read more than half of the novel, I'll be giving this an official rating this time. Which is... 3.76/5!! Seems low, but it rounds up to 4stars, and I think it's even higher than it should be. Worth the read, though expect some drama and angst between the cute romance between a shy wolf cub of an ML and a shameless, old driver FL (it's both hilarious and charming! Definitely my favorite pet of this work.) I'm sting to the original rating by the way. Though I've decided to lower it to 3.75/5!SUMMARY: The FL, Zhao Lanxiang, had wasted almost two decades of her first life on a scum man that loved his white moonlight more than he ever did herself, his faithful and endlessly devoted wife. Fortunately, after divorcing him, the FL encountered the ML, He Songbai. Like her, his life had not been easy, he spent a decade in jail and because of his background, he had lived a very poor life. They got to spend quite a few years together, but it ended much too soon because of the ML's poor health at the time.Lucky for the FL, before her husband's death had truly sunken in, she was brought back in time. Back before she married that scum man and before the ML was imprisoned wrongfully. Of course, she doesn't hesitate to seek the ML out. Going as far as to become an educated youth in the country side in order to meet the younger and much more untrained version of her beloved husband. The trajectory of the story after this is pretty steady. Quite good, lacks a bit of direction at times. But overall very interesting to read. Sometimes the TL made it difficult o understand certain things, like some statements that were probably meant to be positive became negative (and vice versa), so I'm a bit confused about what happened sometimes. But despite that I appreciate the detail in both the characters and the setting._________________OLD REVIEW:The MC, Zhao Lanxiang ends up getting another chance at life after her husband, the ML He Songbai, died of old age/illness. She came back just in time before she got married to the scum man that she divorced in her first life. It was around the 1970s, just before the major reforms that changed the way things were back then. She goes all the way to a rural village in order to meet her 'old man' who is still very young and insecure, and pursues him without shame while improving his life.The loose rating is around 3.85/5. I actually really liked it at first but the climax was a bit dramatic for me. I get that the author was eager to tie things up and force the characters to grow up but the forced separation trope is just really hateful to me. I like the romance aspect. Before the MC made that dumb decision near the end, I liked her because she was decisive. Meanwhile, the ML? Well, there's nothing else to ask for when it comes to him, he's great and the side characters are great too! Overall, I thought that all the characters were well-characterized, it was just that drama ugh. Without counting that, rating would be 4.1/5! She mostly just wants face slap people and live a rich and relaxed life. So the tone of the novel is very light and casual.I don't recommend this novel if you're looking for something serious. For one, the setting is poorly explained so if you're not familiar with China in the 1970s, you're probably going to be confused quite often. Furthermore, the plot is really not all that complex. It's your typical "transmigrating to face slap the greedy relatives". There's some poor-to-rich aspect as well as a fantasy aspect (because the FL has a magical space where she can purchase things from the future pretty much endlessly), but it's not the focus of the story and is really more of a convenient golden finger to bring up now and again.As for the ML matter *thinkingface* I think the development was pretty good. Some may complain because of the disappearing personalities or the "unfair" treatment because of the FL's bias, but in my opinion the ML is the ML. The most important thing is that he's doting no matter what form he is LOL. Furthermore, the FL's bias is completely understandable given the condition that personality 1&2 were in. I did honestly dislike her a bit at the time as well. 3.75/5!!! [Historical: Ancient China, Drama, Slice of Life] This is a novel of a heroine who has been reborn after committing su*cide. In her first life, she was an unloved concubine. No matter what she did, she couldn’t earn the love of her lord husband. And, after finally realizing this truth, she decided to end it right then and there. Preferring to die than to suffer any longer. When she finds herself reborn, back when it all began, her only goal is to find someone who will marry and love only her. Unfortunately, she belongs to a time where it’s common for men to take on multiple wives and concubines — also, the parents decide... more>> their children’s marriage. And, as someone from low birth (she’s the daughter of a concubine and her own father was the son of a concubine), there’s no hope for her to get married to anyone of a similar station as a wife.

PLOT: The rest of the story, then, is the FL struggling to find her happiness in times of war. All while her family is constantly conspiring to marry her off as a concubine. This was actually my favorite aspect of the novel. It’s interesting to see this side of things. Usually, the FL of similar novels belong to the gentry are of higher birth statuses. So, seeing her perspective as a concubine’s daughter was interesting. Especially since it was relevant to her desire. AKA, the main goal of the story.

MLs: I was quite confused by this. There’s several men that stand out at first glance to be the ML. It ended up being Wang Qilang (Wang Hong). He’s described as handsome and as dignified as an immortal. But as a man from ancient times, his views are very skewed. His family status is high, so high that even making the FL his concubine is questionable. And so the conflict commences.

OVERALL: No matter what, I do recommend that you read it! I only read the first 90 chapters, skipped to chapters 115-130, and then skipped to the last batch (195-200s). So I didn’t read it all. I didn’t think it was necessary because, as the other reviewers said, the second half of the novel is a repetitive back and forth between the FL and ML. OH, btw. I won’t be giving this an official rating cause I didn’t make it to the halfway point. It’s true that I technically read more than half the chapters, but after the first 90, I was mostly skimming to see how it ended XD. So, to make sure that I’m not rating unfairly, I won’t give a detailed star rating. For the sake of my list though, I think this novel is worth a 3.75/5. At least, the parts I read were worth that much. Idk about the rest. <<less

FL is a modern-day expert beautician that transmigrated into Ancient China. Her new role is a girl who had just been recently sold off to a kind rural man with a 3yo son. Seeing the difficulties of her situation, the FL begins to slowly adapt while working hard to improve their lives from then on. It shares a lot of common themes with similar novels in the same genre, in that there is a poor-to-rich aspect. The romance is mostly a side thing, and there’s also a lack of serious character development. But it’s not to the detriment of the novel. I think it’s a good length, I didn’t finish it, but I was close enough to the end and I can safely say that it is worth the read. I’ve seen a lot of doctors in ancient times, chefs in ancient times, farmers in ancient times, embroiderers in ancient times, etc. But this is my first time seeing a beautician version. It’s definitely not as a exciting and can be a bit dry at times, but the uniqueness makes it worth a try!

Like, 85-90%!)Summary: The FL (Jiang Xiaoman) was the original villainess of a book where two children had switched their fates when they were babies (the fake daughter gets to live in luxury while the villainess was left to live miserably in the backward mountains). When we meet her, she was only three years old. She has a SYSTEM in her head that wants to lead her through the correct path. However, because of the butterfly effect, things end up going in the completely wrong direction from the start.This novel ended up being a growing-up story. It's relatively slow-paced at first, focusing on how she ended up avoiding her miserable situation and then slowly following her as her life got better and better. Later, the pacing speeds up a bit, but the main focus is still on how things have changed as she grew up. Not only her own fate but also the fate of the ML (who was the original big bad villain in the novel), who accompanied her as she grew up.If you like that kind of sweet and fluffy story, then this is definitely for you! Don't read it for face-slapping, that's only a small part of the story. The romance was also pretty minimized. The ML was the first to fall in love, and to the end, it was hard to say if it was actually requited XD Like, there was absolute no sign of it on her end. All in all, however, I enjoyed the read. And my official rating based on my usual categories is... 3.56/5 stars! Not bad all in all. If you're looking at it from the big picture, it seems low, but it depends on what you're looking for. I just happen to be a person who like such things, so this novel was just right for me. If you're not the same, it's probably best to avoid this novel. Or, well, you can try it out, but there's no telling if you'll enjoy it. It's short enough that it shouldn't be too much time invested though! And the TL is quite good.

Usually I would write up a rather lengthy review, but because the novel is shorter than my usual read, I've decided to keep this review trimmed up and just note my usual criteria: Character: 2/5 (Really poor character development. Actually, there's no development at all. I'm tempted to give this a 1/5 rating, but well, despite the lack of character development, the characters are still notable in their own ways). Romance: 1/5 (I have no choice, this is really not a romantic novel. There is a romance subplot, but it's pretty much non-existent. As such, although I included this on this list, it would count in the overall rating.) Setting: 4.5/5 (The game elements were very consistent and there was a reason for everything in the end! It's only that the fast-pacing something cut off those details I like.) Plot: 3.5/5 (The novel can be a bit dull if you're not interested in infrastucture/farming/crafting/etc.), Personal Enjoyment: 4/5 (Despite the fact that I consider this novel far from perfect, there's no denying that I enjoyed it in my own way!

The other reviews also threw me off a bit, making me believe even more that this was a story about a no-good FL who easily bends to the whims of a forceful man. Anyway, I stayed away from reading this for so long because of these two things (and, of course, because the TL is not finished any the MTL is only 70-75% readable). When I read it this time, not only did I manage to finish it, but I even liked it a bit. Ah, but I'll talk more about that later. First!_________SUMMARY: The FL of this novel is a modern day police woman that transmigrates into the body of Shen Ruolan, a thin, abandoned girl from ancient times. She brought along a magical space as well as modern knowledge regarding agriculture, food, performing arts, weapon-making, medical skills, etc. The main cheat is pretty understated, but the modern knowledge was definitely a bit over-the-top, making it seem like the FL knew how to do anything and everything. Anyway, I ignored that because the story isn't really focused on the poor-to-rich aspect.The focus is mostly family and relationship drama. Of course, the FL transmigrates into a person with lots of messy in-laws, which is pretty typical. The key thing that may be bothering you is the deal with the 2ML. Yes, as the other reviewers say, the FL meets the 2ML first, and matches her ideals for a husband (simple, honest, willing to dote on her.) As a result, they get engaged and remain that way for a while, making for it a bit difficult for the ML (King Zhan/Lord Qi, Chunyu Xuan) to get his girl. Of course, the two still meet after a while, though the situation isn't good at first. The two will have to slowly grind each other before they can settle down. In the meanwhile, there's constant petty troubles from all sides._________THOUGHTS: First, I should say, this novel is a bit horrifying at times (for example, the age gap between the FL and ML is 10 years. The FL is 14-15 the first time they do it too DX. I've learned to mentally ignore ages in historical dramas and translate it to legal age (or close to it) but you may not find it acceptable). (Another example, there's lots of triggering scenes of r*pe, torture, violence, etc. The cannon fodders definitely don't have it easy in this fic. They get the worst ending at the drop of the hat.) These two examples alone will probably turn a lot of readers away, and tbh, it would have probably turned me away too if I hadn't already invested so much time in it LOL.In the end, I kept reading and focus on the parts that I liked. Mainly, I liked the FL and ML's romance development. It was a bit messy at times, and the ML is definitely not a good guy. But then again, he never pretended to be one. He's violent, cruel, and indifferent to the world. He continued to be that way till the end. It's just that he fell in love with the FL. I thought it was nice how the two of them learn from each other. And although I felt bad for the 2ML, I always thought he and the FL weren't right for each other. If they got together, the relationship would have never been equal, and hold the FL may fall in love with him in time, it wouldn't be the passionate kind that the FL and ML had. In the end, the 2ML, despite showing up earlier than the ML, was a bit too late. If he had married the FL directly and grew up along with her (AKA followed her to do business and get rich), it might have worked out. OR, if he had gone to the army early (earning prestige for himself), that would have been fine too. But, as it stood, they were unequal from the beginning and he didn't have a chance. Sooner or later, his inferiority complex would have probably killed him.ANYWAY, what am I saying? Right! This novel isn't the best, but it's not bad either. It's readable. Maybe the reason why my opinion is so good is because I went into it thinking it would be utterly tr*sh and was surprised to find it was readable, I dunno LOLOL. SUMMARY: The main premise of the novel is that you have the MC (Ruan Ning) transmigratting inside of the zombie apocalypse novel that she had just finished reading. She's not particularly impressive as a character, but she's definitely somewhat Mary-Sue-like. Part of why I got bored may be because of her character. It's just a bit too reactive? I mean, I should have expected it from the title -- that is, this is the story of a "pampered cannon fodder" not the impressive female protagonist who kicks ass XD As for the ML, I was interested in him at first, but soon his entire character seemed to become "obsessed with his pseudo-younger sister" so I got over it quickly.

All in all, I guess it just ended up not being my kind of novel. I still read quite a bit though! Even more than half! For that reason, and for the fact that the MTL is fairly comprehensible (80%), I will be given this novel a rating despite not finishing. For me, it was a relatively okay read. Not the best, but not bad either. I think, if you just want to turn your brian off and enjoy a BG novel where the FL goes through relatively unscathed, then this is not bad. The first goal works out well, but as for the second, she still ended up getting married to the Marquis of Zhengbei in the end -- all because of the will of the new Emperor (who, by the way, is the ML of this novel lolol.)FIRST IMPRESSION? This is the second time I tried to read this novel. The first time I read it, I didn't make it pst the 2nd chapter, and my main comment was: "lots of filler content in the form info-dumps.... I thought this novel would be your typical revenge plot after being reborn, but the FL is portrayed as largely indifferent and lacking desires. The second chapter was also rather boring with all the filler." XD I agree with my initial impression, this novel is a bit boring if you take into account all the illegible history content. Being in such a time, the already complex matters of the inner and outer courts are all the more complicated. Nevermind the ridiculous situation in the Marquis' manor that the FL ended up in.Let me just say, this is not a bad thing. I think that the historical setting is pretty well done. And, if the lectures of the FL were a little more comprehensible, I would have probably enjoyed that too. It's just that I wasn't completely pulled in by the FL and ML. So, after a while, I got tired of it.Rating: 3.45/5In terms of content, this novel is a bit hard to read (in more ways than one). It's long-winded and the romance is unconventional (I mean, from the start, she still gets married to her ex-husband, and was even bestowed a marriage to him by the true ML lol). The first time I read this, I hadn't gotten into the habit of leaving reviews, but I did make a note somewhere, which basically said: [For the most part, this story is about what living as a big family with a too-quiet husband and a gaggle of precocious children with different personalities is like. It lacks the fantastical or dramatic flair most novels from the era has but…. It's not bad overall? Just a bit monotonous, since there's no real overarching... more>> plot, just common day to day life in the 1970s.] I still pretty much agree with this impression. I thought it was a good read to pass the time, but after a while, I couldn't resist looking for something more exciting to read.

_________SUMMARY: The FL, Lin Lan, transmigrates into the body of a village wife living in the 1970s. The original owner had a military husband that she saw only a handful of times, as well as 5 children (4 boys and 1 girl). Her husband's family was biased against her branch of the family, taking the sacrifices of her military husband for granted and tormenting her and her children. In the end, the original owner died and was replaced by the FL, who, despite her dislike of children, decides to raise the original owner's kids properly. As for the ML (Han Qingsong), he's the wooden type of guy. Doesn't speak much, and has a moderate temperament. He's a very accurate example of a dull gourd. But he's also very loyal and has a high level of responsibility. First and foremost, he's a filial son. And then later, after switching careers to take care of his family, he becomes a doting husband and strict father.

____________THOUGHTS: All in all, not a bad read. I admire the fact that the author was able to continue writing such mundane things for so long XD. It's not that it's boring, just a bit tiring? Part of it is the characters, I suppose. The FL and ML are not very interesting in my opinion. They're the very sensible but stubborn type of people, and don't have much wiggle room for development. In that case, they're pretty much settled from the start. That's fine. Since there's the children's development to look forward to. Each of the little cubs have their own unique personalities and troubles, making for an interesting story. However, after a while, they're pretty much set too. Which just leaves cannon fodder and SEQUEL-like scenes where nothing much happens.

Anyway, I still recommend you give it a try for the initial experience. I don't think I'll ever be able to finish the story myself XD. But I still enjoyed reading what I did and am pretty satisfied overall. Right—- The TL of the novel is worth the effort at least, it's very good, just a bit cut up. Understandable once you see the length of the raw chapters lmao. (BTW, the MTL is fine, but not the best —65% readable cause some names and titles are a mess, making it confusing.) As for the rating … I'm giving this novel a 3.45/5! Not quite enough to upgrade to four stars, but not bad either. Maybe when the TL aid further along, I'll come back for a reread and will give a higher rating. [Transmigration, Slice of Life, Historical: China1960s] The FL of this novel is really unlikable, pretty much the carbon copy of all those cannon fodder villains who enrich themselves on the hard work of others -- all the while feeling entitled, of course XD. Despite this, however, I thought she was very interesting to get to know. I mean, despite my dislike of her, I still respected her quite a bit. After all, even if she is selfish, at least she's very self-aware of it and knows how to give back to others when the time comes. It breaks down 1960s culture in order to show a realistic way one can work their way up the ladder in an era that's completely different from our current one. In this way, I think it's worth at least checking out. Although, for others, it might be a bit boring.

SUMMARY: The FL, Su Yu, had been the big boss of her old family in her first life. However, after transmigrating to the 1960s, she finds herself taking on the role of the hardworking older sister who sacrificed all of her happiness and vitality for the sake of her three younger siblings. After getting this role, the successful Su Yu of course wanted nothing to do with it. But, after realizing that there was no escape, she starts working on fixing up the messy people in the original owner's home (her siblings and sister-in-law) until they're obedient to her. All the while promising them better days in the future.

THOUGHTS: The first time I read this, I didn't make it far because of the TL. It's really good, but the way it was chopped into pieces made it really troublesome, especially because my internet had been really finicky at the time. Now, I decided to drop it because the MTL is pretty much impossible to read (big sigh), this is the case for many Chinese Reformation Era novels. They have way too many slang that translates weirdly DX. But enough about that. I do recommend reading this, but not for the usual purposes. When I dropped it, the ML hadn't even been introduced, so it's definitely not romance-focused. It was really mostly oriented on adjusting family dynamics and showing how acting as the 'romans' do when in Rome can help you progress in the workfield. Like this, it's a bit boring. It doesn't have your usual face-slapping or satisfying upgrades. But, I think it's not bad that way. At least, it's a lot more meaningful than some other stories. By the way, I'm rating this at 3.4/5. I didn't make it far, but I think it deserves a rating now since I'm not sure I'll reread it often.  <<less

Summary: The FL, Tang Tang, is a young woman that had been born in ancient times. After dying an unrighteous death, she wakes up in the body of a modern woman that was also named Tang Tang. This Tang Tang was married and had a son. However, she absolutely detested her current lifestyle, and as such, was neither kind to her husband or child. After the FL transmigrated into her body, she got to work on improving the life of said husband and child immediately, spoiling them to the fullest and showing them the beauty of a kind and virtuous wife.

I think this kind of novel may offend some people XD If only because they see virtuousness as degrading to a woman? IDK, there are some people like that. But, I personally don't mind it. The FL grew up like this because of her environment, and there's nothing wrong with that. The ML also doesn't restrict her in any way. It's a happy life for them! SO yeah. Not a bad read. Nothing too special either, but it kept my interest. As for the rating, I think it deserves 3.4/5 stars. <<less

It was all about the slowly blossoming love between a transmigrator who suddenly found herself with a husband and a three year old child. I quite liked it! I think some people may find it a bit boring, and honestly, if I had read it any other time, I'm not sure my impression would be all that good. However, it just so happened that this was the kind of experience I was looking for. I'm busy doing other things, so having this short and simple slice of life novel was just right for me! Of course, I wouldn't have liked it all if the author didn't do such a good job with the characters. There might not have been complex dramas, but the characters felt very real, and it was easy to care about what was happening to them despite their daily lives being relatively simple and sweet.

AS FOR THE RATING... I think this novel falls under the "average read, but there's something about it" category. Based on my usual scale, that's at around 3.15 stars to 3.45 stars. For the sake of my list, I've decided to give it 3.4 stars out of 5 directly! Oh well, what can you do. Let me just say that the first time I read this, I read the first 150 chapters and gave it a 3 star rating directly. My impression has not changed, even if I read it till the end this time (well, by the end, I mean reading up to c200s or so and skipping/skimming the rest). As for the rating, I decided to stick to 3 stars, but more specifically, 3.35/5! Not quite enough to level up to 4 stars, but it's... more>> still not a bad rating.

SUMMARY: This is not really a story of an FL and ML. The main protagonists are not the focus, but literally just getting rich in the eighties --- with a transmigrator from ancient times (the FL) and a hardworking retired soldier (the ML) as background characters to support the development. I initially thought the a transmigrator from ancient times was pretty interesting, but the FL's lack of ambition made her too passive as a character. She really didn't do much outside of fixing the relationships with the ML (who had been married to the original owner for three years prior to her transmigration) and her in-laws (who disliked the original owner because she was shrewish and selfish). 

Afterwards, she was first an embroidery-making machine, then a chemical fertilizer provider XD (her cheat, the spiritual spring), and a baby boy maker (seriously, she was pregnant most of the time. It's the ML that did most of the work, but he doesn't play a part outside of that. So yeah, in short if you want character development, this is not the place to look for it! This is strictly for slice-of-life, pastoral-life, business management, etc.

THOUGHTS: I lost interest after a while because I wasn't really all that fond of the characters. In contrast, BTTS (back to the sixties), the author's other work, was a lot better rounded. I mean, At least there, there was development for the main characters in the beginning. The FL of that novel was also very active, always moving around. Unlike Su Danhong here, who maintains the virtues of an ancient woman very proudly. I mean, I don't dislike her, but it's definitely a bit boring. 

As for other things, well, after a while, without the MC's propping up the story like they should, it devolved into one petty drama after another, and the poor-to-rich aspect became more and more meaningless. All of this sounds so negative btw XDDD. But, well, I think the story is still worth the read. If you're looking for something casual, and nothing too deep. This is not bad. At least, you can really experience the life of the people back then, even if it may not be the most realistic. <<less

The FL is a cold and indifferent transmigrator who had been reborn as the wealthy young miss of the Ji Family. In her previous life, she had spent most of it on making investments and managing businesses -- that didn't change in this second life. At the start of the story, she's fifteen, the perfect age for marrying back then, but she had just been dumped by her fiance and, more disturbingly, she found out that her reincarnation was actually a transmigration. Namely, she transmigrated as a cannon fodder in a royal intrigue novel with a... more>> forgotten prince vying for the throne. Her fate was to be married off to the emperor---which ended up ruining her entire family. to circumvent this fate, she decides to marry--and, by the way, steal one of the protagonist prince's chess pieces (the ML, the future prime minister.)

It's a very slow paced book. The protagonist is not someone I would call very charming, but she's not unlikeable either. She's the kind of FL that does what she does and doesn't care a bit about what anyone else thinks about it. She's also very VERY materialistic -- to the point that the only time she shows any reaction outside of being 'indifferent' and 'cold' is when money is involved LOLOL. Her opposite is a shameless, black belly ML who is pretending to be a pig to eat the tiger. He doesn't hold back when it comes to his acting, and he's quite miserly (he's very poor). They're actually quite a good match, though the development is definitely not 'romantic' in the traditional sense. Between these two, everything starts off a business agreement, and I suppose it takes a while (if ever) before things really heat up.

All in all, I think it's not a bad read. Not really my taste, but I gave it a shot, and was happy to get to know the characters a bit. The character profiles of the main cast is actually quite unique. The author was obviously not afraid of trying new things, and I appreciate that~ the plot itself is rather simple, so the development is reliant on the characters and their own little quirks. If I were to give this a rating... I think a 3.45/5 stars is the way to go. Just short of rounding up to 4 stars lolol. <<less

3.3/5!! [Second Chance, Slice of Life, Historical] Body Swap! The FL, Gao Xi, died of illness after being mistreated by her husband. If that's not enough, just after she wakes up in a new body (the body of a girl named Lin WeiXi), she finds out from a dream that her whole life was a book in which her younger Shu-sister, Gao Ran, was the transmigrated protagonist. As the protagonist of her novel, Gao Ran stepped on the FL and ended up becoming the second wife of the FL's husband. For her second chance at life, the FL doesn't have great aspirations, but because of her new body's past, her road ends up becoming entangled... more>> with Prince Yan, her ex-husband's father. So, only a couple months after she had officially died, she ends up back in the same home with her ex and her sister.

The story is mostly drama and character exploration. I don't really like the FL that much, her personality doesn't suit the era and it makes everything feel unrealistic when everyone fawns over her being… well, shrew-ish. I found the premise of her being the stepmother of her ex most interesting, but that's actually not explored in detail, and her romance with the ML, Prince Yan, is pretty so-so. It's that typical story where the wild FL ends up being the apple of the stoic and righteous ML's eye.

If you're interested in this kind of simple drama, I still think it's worth the read. I just wasn't overly interested in the characters and ended up dropping it mid-way. But I'm already considering rereading it one day, though not anytime soon. For the TL, since there are two versions:

* OLD: The old TL uses more Pinyin, so if you're more comfortable with it, then you shouldn't have too hard of a time comprehending the novel, though it's not the cleanest in terms of grammar.

* NEW: The new TL from Moon Jellyfish is the one I read, this one westernized some of the more complicated titles and explains a lot of what's going on in the beginning to improve comprehension. It's very clean and what I'd personally recommend.

Warning: This novel features a 16yo FL and an over 30 ML. This is quite normal for the time period and nothing is actually explicitly written (it's fade-to-black and doesn't even feature kisses!), but I thought it best to say it here. Other than that, there's the usual warnings for this era where women are considered inferior.

This novel runs mostly on superficial conflicts between the FL and brainless canon fodder, so I ended up giving up before making it halfway through. It just began to get a bit repetitive at that point, and the main plot (getting stronger and investigating what happened to her parents) was not interesting enough for me. So yeah. Overall. It's not the worst novel I've read. It's still pretty bad in certain areas.
