Ruan Ning transmigrated into a novel where the male lead was reborn in a post apocalyptic world while she became the cannon fodder who died early in the novel.

She had an overly attractive face and a delicate physique so she could only hug her brother’s thighs if she wanted to survive. However, the reborn male lead was black-hearted, distrustful of anyone and had a disagreeable character.

Ruan Ning carried herself cautiously and was an obedient sister who followed whatever her brother said. Finally, she was recognised by her brother and taken under his wings. Yet, a few months later….

Ruan Ning covered her mouth which had been kissed while contemplating the purpose of her existence. She could no longer continue hugging thighs! She could never imagine that she thought of him as a brother but he actually wanted to be her husband?

At the beginning, Gu Yi Cheng thought that this sister of his was dispensable and he wouldn’t even blink if he pushed her towards a horde of zombies.

Later on, he cherished and protected her and didn’t let her be placed in harm’s way.

I simply don't like the MC and the ML, and personally speaking this is the most boring and unrealistic zombie apocalypse novel I've ever read by far. Don't expect cool exciting scenes or decent worldbuilding, because you certainly won't get any in this novel. There's no suspense whatsoever in this story as the ML is too OP. There are also too many flawed logics and plot holes here that could make you gag. I can't recommend this novel to those of you with experience in reading novels with zombie apocalypse... more>> setting before, because you'd surely get disappointed.

The MC is a pampered dodder flower who'd cry everytime she's grazed a little. She's so timid that she often put her teammate's lives in danger. It's crazy how she could still be such a pampered princess when there's literally a zombie apocalypse going on. She could only survive so far because of her brother, ironically someone whom she always behaved so fake to. She literally always flattered her brother on surface because she wanted to be protected, but then scolded him harshly in her heart--talk about being ungrateful! If I met such a parasitic two-faced bootlicker like her on doomsday, I'd just leave her alone to fend off the zombies all by herself.

The girl was never assigned to guard, never cooked, never told anyone of her personal stockpile yet shamelessly kept consuming her brother's and the escorts', never cleaned, never fixed things, never bothered to learn anything to contribute more to the team, have to always be escorted and protected, was always given the biggest share of money and food even when she contributed the least, always kept her abilities use to a minimum, and was always given the best treatments and facilities. It's not that she's powerless, she got a super OP healing skill that can almost resurrect the dead. It's just that she was always either hiding her skills or only used it very rarely until the third last part of the book. Aside from that skill tho, she's practically useless and was never allowed to do 'menial' works for the team. Even when the everyone got out of the car to cook, clean, and fix things, she'd be sitting prettily in the car by herself. It's the end of the world and everyone just loves to pamper her just because she's an earth shattering beauty and the boss' woman. She's exactly the definition of the girl mentioned in Daya's song "Sit Still, Look Pretty".

That kind of girl would only become men's plaything if she was put in another team. Oh wait, SHE WAS HER BROTHER'S PLAYTHING! The ML forced himself on her feeling that she belonged to him regardless of her feelings and she was afraid to reject him even when she felt appaled of his advances because he was the one who gave her everything. So what's the difference between her and those extras who sold themselves for money and protection except for the fact that the ML is more high-quality?

Here we have a crybaby who doesn't want to work hard but want to get tons of money and benefits, and a rich and powerful patron who kept sponsoring her while making s*xual advances. Pretty sure this would be a great dog-blood office drama setting. The romance is just sad.

Don't even get me started with the ML. His character is super weak it's like he's only written for convenience. He's too OP from the start that eventually makes the plot uninteresting and mundane. Don't even expect the typical hero's journey like in JP's stories with OP MLs, the ML here is more OP than those stories from the very beginning. There is no hero's journey whatsoever, even when it is usually the core story of this type of novel. From his multiple rare abilities, his filthy rich and powerful business and military family background (apparently strong enough to be a foothold of the nation's military), his amazingly handsome figure, and his foresight because of his reborn buff--his stats are all maxed out in every aspect except personality. Every battle arc was suuuuuper boring af with him always winning and was never explored enough. Even in the final battle arc, ML just won so easily in a very short one-on-one fight against the zombie king without anyone assisting him except a small weakened plant. I mean, come on, he was fighting the final boss, and the author concluded the battle scene in less than 2000 words in total out of 183 chapters. The super OP ML just made this zombie apocalypse novel a total failure.

It was mentioned numerous times that he was bertrayed before he was reborn, but the backstory was never explored deep enough and only serve as a shallow excuse for him to bully and kill the extras. He's your typical childish unreasonably jealous domineering CEO: HE GOT JEALOUS OF FOOD AND PLANTS TAKING AWAY MC'S ATTENTION FROM HIM. Istg I've never seen such a shallowly-written childish ML before.

And I don't care how handsome and powerful the ML is, he forced himself on MC when she clearly said no and even felt disgusted by his acts because she felt that they were brother and sister. The ML felt sooo entitled of MC, forcibly kissing and groping her without consent, because he felt that she was his after all those sponsoring. Well, I couldn't really blame him since the MC was waaay to dependant on ML like he's her sugar daddy, but his acts were inexcusable. Could you imagine if this really happened in real life? A handsome superior who kept supporting you suddenly forced himself on you and said that you're his even when you felt so disgusted and clearly said no. I don't care if that's your preference, but I sure don't want a r*pey sugar daddy character as the ML even if he's handsome as hell. That's just disgusting.

Basically the character settings are bad with no growth, and their way of thinking are just too one-dimensional. The plot is super predictable and honestly boring since the ML is too OP and the MC only leeches off of him. The worldbuilding is super sloppy and the author didn't give a lot of details, clearly she didn't do a lot of research. The author would just narrate MC's actions even when they're going to a completely unfamiliar place or even when they're in battles, making the readers unable picture the settings at all. For example, she'd just say MC's team went to base A with a lot of people and not mentioning the condition of the base, or that ML used his lightning skills and killed a bunch of zombies without mentioning how the skills work. Up until the last chapter I still got no clear idea on how the so-called abilities work and how they look like. The author didn't give enough details on anything, be it the 'forgotten' zombie virus (it was literally never mentioned, like nobody was even curious on how the people became zombie in the first place, could you imagine if when covid-19 became a global pandemic no one even bothered to find out anything about the virus, let alone trying to make its vaccine?), how they got the abilities (so they got enhanced body and all those skills but nobody even remotely questioned how it came to be so and how they work), how the bases run (it's silly how those rich families are still running strong despite it being the end of the world that they were able to hold big formal banquets in huge hotels while serving delicate pastries within a year of the apocalypse when the electricity and gas were scarce, and I can't even fathom how those chefs could even get a hold of cake molds in a post-apocalyptic world lmao), how the ML got to be reborn (NOBODY EVEN QUESTIONED IT, NOT EVEN HIMSELF!), and many more plot holes. The amount of plot holes in this novel is simply astounding. This is more like a sloppy gameplay walkthrough narration rather than a novel. I don't know about you, but I was expecting at least a decent level of action writing and worldbuilding in a zombie apocalypse novel, sadly this one lacks both. There are so many flawed logics here that made me gag. I bet this is the author's first work.

Maybe it's because I've read Salted Fish Transmigrated Into An Apocalyptic Book before, a zombie apocalyptic novel that got such a kickass heroine and a gentlemanly ML with such depth of character in a crazy interesting plot written with superb worldbuilding, the contrast is so great that this novel pales so much in comparison. Be it the characters, worldbuilding, plot details, basically every aspect of this novel is extremely inferior compared to that one. <<less

I have to disagree with the other reviewer saying MC is a vase, because she is in fact talented. She will kill zombies herself after all. She's not crying, sad helpless woe is me at all. The character herself feels some frustration about not having an attack power, as she ... more>>
Spoiler

is a healer and space user, but not upgradeable by the same logic as those in that world. So she isn't a user at all by their conventional sense and has to hide her abnormalities by watching how others use their powers. The downside of that is she has a fragile body to compensate for having basically inexhaustible power as long as she how crystal cores. Every power has a downside after all.

[collapse]

I would also like to point out that the incident mentioned by the other reviewer is super early in the story. The character herself was like "I'm fine" and pretty stupefied by how ridiculous her injuries were for the occasion. Should also point out she managed to dodge a mutant on her own at the time so.... Not a vase. We don't actually get much of her being injured or tired unless she's basically used a shitton of powers the rest of the story.

So no, she isn't a vase, she's just not an offensive power. She can use guns though and helps hunt like the rest of the team. TEAM being key here. The end of the world isn't about one OP person but about people with different abilities balancing each other. The ML is offensive and she is healing. they balance and each has their place. The fact she stays put when he tells her to because she knows her own abilities is so satisfying actually.

Think of all those dogblood stories of unnecessary casualties because of a little white lotus lead who couldn't listen runs out into the field, then compare that to our girl who knows her abilities and TRUSTS her reborn ML. I read this entire thing and have been the least stressed out of all the apocalypse stories I've encountered. There's character growth, as she comes into her own and isn't some boddhisva character throwing kindness everywhere, and a slowly developing relationship between the leads. No underage funny business here.

Her mindset also adjusts from the beginning of holding a thigh, which seems to have offended the other reader lol. She's not a vase. She has her own strengths and weaknesses, it's not a crime to not be OP superwoman. In fact, I think it's more realistic here where she slowly learns to trust and show her powers while still helping where she can and learning when necessary. There is actually quite a bit of development if you compare her attitude from the beginning to the end, the only frustrating thing for me was her romantic development. Like girl, make up your minddddd it's obvious you like him, you're not related, and forreal what man treats his sister like he treats you? Wake. Up. (she does wake up but man, I wanted to shake her out of her tortoise shell because DAMN).

5 stars for characters and power development, nothing unreasonable happened, there was no random female siccing rapists on the FL for being beautiful. There wasn't a point in the story where I wanted to throw my computer away in a rage either, so 5/5 I enjoyed it. Wish the ending was more fleshed out though. (I really have to wonder if I'm reading the same story as everyone else lmao)

Spoiler

Last chapter suddenly they were in the real world???? Getting married??? WAT. Sure just throw that in as the side effect of him reaching level 6. No idea if they can go back and forth or what, but the sudden abandonment of all ties in that world was pretty abrupt (more by the FL than the ML who was reborn and wasn't too deeply enmeshed in anyone but the FL). We went from sexy birthday to BAM IRL getting married. So, ending is my only gripe, needed more buildup or something.

The MC is just a vase here. Just like the title says, she's overly pampered, like she's too fragile. There was a scene where she fell on the ground and she became crippled and had bruises and blood all over her body, like what the f? Good thing for her she have thighs to hold on to because if not, she'd be dead with her mindset. I'm really not into novels with MCs that is overly dependent to its partner, and weak MC without sign of development, which is why... more>> I have given it a 2 stars I've read a lot of novels about apocalypse, and this by far, was the worst out of all novels I have read. Meh.

I've MTL up to ~170 and I basically like it. It's not an outstanding novel but it is enjoyable to read. the MC is very reasonable and works hard - everyone likes her because she's very good looking, but also she doesn't act like a demon. She learns to kill zombies, doesn't cause problems, has very useful powers and not only doesn't hold the team back, but actively helps the team in ways unrelated to her powers.

The romance isn't very well developed imo. Although the ML doesn't really bully her...... more>> I guess you can say he basically 'tests' her and because Ruan Ning knows to cater to the 'protagonist, ' she passes his tests, and once she's accepted by the protagonist, she sticks to him, which I guess eventually provokes him romantically? IDK, it's hard for me to say they're ''in love'' it's more like they're in a mutually arranged marriage, a couple who feel good about one another and are devoted but not s*upid in love. It's not bad! I don't dislike it, I just don't feel like they're in love.

Speaking of the ML and the MC's relationship, although Ruan Ning knows that as a good looking but low-attack force woman, she needs a thigh, she has two picks: the protagonist, and her uncle. When the protagonist regularly ditches her, she changes her target to her uncle - once the protagonist accepts her, she also changes her target back to him. The ML doesn't dislike her - he disliked the OG, but the OG died in the first few weeks of the apocalypse without seeing the ML. So the ML never actually tries to get her killed and is ultimately reasonable about where he tries to ditch her, and Ruan Ning doesn't annoy him by being unreasonable and sticking to him. Ultimately, although she caters to his identity as the protagonist, she doesn't do it to a gross extent like some other books do.

Basically, although this novel isn't an outstanding story that will make an impact, it's definitely satisfactory as a read. <<less

I'm not supposed to do this but I just can't get some of the reviews out of my mind. Also, because I really don't like the genre but here's my review:

Contrary to the part wherein the MC is a vase. She isn't, I don't even remember the part where she was crippled and crying. Or maybe there is but I don't remember reading that she is so much of a vase, maybe she cried but that is because she is hurt.

But she's not so much of a handicapped, in fact... more>> she is a big of a help. She has both spatial and healer ability which is one of given importance in the context of the story.

And also contrary to the part wherein the ML force himself into MC. There is no such thing, no r@pe but I gotta say he did kissed her. But that's it, the ML waited for the MC to become legal before doing anything segsual. He even have the MC's approval when that time comes.

The only problem I can say is that the story was so much of a rush. The fighting wasn't appealing as the other story I read. I was expecting it to be so detailed and really exciting, unfortunately it isn't. It was even told with just 1-2 chapters.

Also, the ending was vague. It wasn't write really well, it feels that the author was rushing everything. The plot and details was not written really well. Even the fight scene with the very villain wasn't given so much of attention.

All in all, if you want something just to pass the time. I think this is good. <<less

I don't know if it's just my current mood, but I ended up finding the novel a bit boring after a while. Maybe it's because there's so much going on? Like the focus seems to be in external conflicts, while the internal conflicts and character developments are delayed again and again DX One thing's for sure, if you're looking to read this for the survival aspects, it's best not. This is definitely more focused on conflicts with other survivors and other special circumstances.

SUMMARY: The main premise of the novel is... more>> that you have the MC (Ruan Ning) transmigratting inside of the zombie apocalypse novel that she had just finished reading. She's not particularly impressive as a character, but she's definitely somewhat Mary-Sue-like. Part of why I got bored may be because of her character. It's just a bit too reactive? I mean, I should have expected it from the title -- that is, this is the story of a "pampered cannon fodder" not the impressive female protagonist who kicks ass XD As for the ML, I was interested in him at first, but soon his entire character seemed to become "obsessed with his pseudo-younger sister" so I got over it quickly.

All in all, I guess it just ended up not being my kind of novel. I still read quite a bit though! Even more than half! For that reason, and for the fact that the MTL is fairly comprehensible (80%), I will be given this novel a rating despite not finishing. For me, it was a relatively okay read. Not the best, but not bad either. I think, if you just want to turn your brian off and enjoy a BG novel where the FL goes through relatively unscathed, then this is not bad. For that reason, my rating for this is 3.45/5 stars! Just short of being able to round up to four stars lol. <<less

It was a good read. I didn't hate the MC because her powers weren't offensive, so it made sense what she did. And she didn't cower or whine. Different type of MC, but I still enjoyed her character.

I started getting fond of zombie and apocalyptic novels because of the human nature discussion. And this one is relatively good.

The story is exactly as explained in the summary of the novel...

Spoiler

A zombie apocalyptical novel with a super pretty but kinda weak transmigrator x a cold, powerful and super handsome reborn guy that turn into a Yandere (obsessive and domineering love).

Male lead was so Yandere, that...

Spoiler

... he got jealous of his own cooked food. Because after cooking for female lead, he noticed that she cherished and gave more attention to the food than to him.

He also got jealous of a mutated plant that female lead was “raising as a pet.” 😅

He got jealous of men, women and mutated beings and non living beings.

[collapse]

The female lead, Ruan Ning, came from the real world and got transported into a zombie novel. She was only a cannon fodder character in the novel that had an early and tragic death, and she was the sister not related by blood of the cold male lead, Gu Yi Cheng. Male lead that was reborn and remembered his first life, where he was betrayed and ended dying by the hands of the Zombie King. He wanted to seek revenge of those who betrayed him and kill the Zombie King.

He didn’t have any lingering feelings for female lead in his first life.

But things changed in the second life. He turned into an indifferent person to obsessive in love with female lead. That was one of my complaints about the novel, his change of indifference to love was too abrupt without any explanation.

Male lead was super good at shooting and fighting and also had the offensive ability of lightning ⚡️ and was super OP (OverPowered Character that was too strong almost looking like a cheating), he also had the storage ability, capable of storage anything in another dimension.

Female lead was kinda weak, an average shooter that wasn’t able to fight or protect herself and was totally dependent of the protection of male lead, but also had the storage ability. And later ended up developing the defensive ability of healing. But she wasn’t so powerful. Ah, I forgot to mention that one of her advantages was her appearance, since she was extremely pretty.

And that was another of my complaints, what is the fun of reading about a main character that doesn’t participate in majority of the fights because is weak, and almost all the fights and killing is performed by the male lead? I thought that at the end of the story, she would have an explosion of her power capable of healing everything and become as powerful as male lead, but nope... that didn’t happen, she continued being mediocre during the whole novel in my opinion.

Another of my complaints is that the novel is kinda detailed in the beginning, and that made the author hush the end. Male lead basically killed the Zombie King in one chapter, and the chapters aren’t even long enough.

Which I don’t understand why. This isn’t my first novel that I read, which the author is very detailed during the whole novel and suddenly in the end, hush everything, concluding the entire plot in one chapter. Like, why those authors don’t extend the novel, adding more chapters that prevents a hushed and unsatisfactory end?

[collapse]

The main character is kinda mediocre in my opinion, but what made me give this novel a five star, is because...

Spoiler

... of the discussion about humanity brought in the novel.

Especially the story of:

Dr Chen and Captain Xiong Yan:

Spoiler

Dr Chen was a virus research that was about to break through the discovery of how to purify water contaminated by the mutant virus.

He was being escorted to the base, when a huge horde of zombies surrounded them.

Some soldiers to gain time, sacrifice themselves with grenades to give more time for the team escape.

Other soldiers that were being attacked, tried to survive longer while being eaten, to slow down the zombies.

Dr Chen noticed how he was dragging down the soldiers, said for the rescue team to keep going without him.

But the Captain Xiong Yan answered:

Dr. Chen, don't say that. The problems facing our base are up to you to solve with your research. Only if you survive, will our rescue this time be meaningful. Only if you survive, those of us on the way who died under the hands of zombies will not be sacrificed in vain. You must persevere. 😢

[collapse]

The twin siblings Chen Xu and Chen Li:

Spoiler

Chen Xu was a young college student of B University. He bumped into the male lead’s team and was acting strangely. Not allowing the team to enter the building.

Actually he was protecting his twin sister Chen Li that turned into a zombie.

But she was a different zombie, she was a mutated zombie, stronger and powerful. But was able to maintain a certain level of control after her brother calmed her down, due to their deep bond.

Female lead tried to use her healing power to see if she could cure someone infected with the virus, since she was a different zombie that could control herself sometimes.

But she failed, female lead was only able to give a little of time of conscience to the zombie girl.

In her last words, she asked to be killed. She was tired, and was getting hard to control herself to not attack her brother. She thanked her brother and said how much she loved him and wished his happiness. She asked the male lead’s team to protect her brother in exchange she would give her core with her strong powers. That was her last wish.

Even while rotted inside and outside... she still tried to keep the remains of her humanity due to the love for her brother... 🥺

[collapse]
[collapse]

I think that’s the main reason I started liking post apocalyptic novels:

Hope that despite humanity fragility it’s still worth to be saved.

Because when cornered, some people can bring their worst, but at the same time, other people can give their best, shining and overcoming all the shadows of human nature.

That’s what I hope to see in the world, even in a non apocalyptic world like ours... that in our worst days, we can still bump into shining people that shows all their kindness, proving that people are worth and give us strength to keep going... <<less

Not bad. There are interesting chapters and I could keep reading till 170ch, however I got stuck there and found it not fun anyomer.

It is still a light hearted apocalypse novel. Sadly the revenge plot haven't got much to it. Basically it got resolved without the MC and ML doing anything.

Overall it was an okay novel. Actually I can say that everything was okay but the romance was somewhat s*upid!

The Male Lead is Too possessive in a very bad way. He won't let the MC (Female Lead) to talke with anyone els, don't smile to anyone els, don't look at anyone els. Not even her adopt father - whom he loved and tacke care of her as a real daughter -, he won't let her stay with him or take care of him, and not even the littel girl that... more>> wanted to talke to her and become friends with her. He alwayse looke at the little girle with unkind looks to frighten her to keep her away from the female lead. And evey time he'll let her talk or intract with others he'll make it like he is giving her a charity and she must be so gratfull for him that he "like and love" her and "care about her so much" that he'll make her wish true by letting her for a very little time be with others! And even when she was fond of some small plant and wanted to take care of it, he take it from her with some excuse just because he felt jealusy of the blant!
Anyway I didn't like the male lead, he even later became so arrgonat even with his close friends.

Other things that really makes me speachless, is how s*upid and forceful some plot line is.
Like when the male lead was badly injured and has lost so much blood and need an argent treatment, and the femal lead can easly treat him at the car but No, she just contenue looking at him distressly because she wanted to heal him befor getting in the car but there was zombies so she couldn't, and now she has to "wait" until they reach another place which was after mybe 1 houre or more, Just to make them be alone in the same room and get some romance blot line!
And the same thing happen again when the male lead was fighting the zombai king. He was badly injured and need timly treatemnt, and while the zombai king was away and can't get near them she has a chance to heal him, but she chose to looke at him distressly and feel bad for him and wait to the last moment before she decided to heal him!
The Female lead was so unlikeable at the early stage of the story, though she become better later. At the time, she just wanted to stay idle and let the male lead protacte her all the time, she dosen't want to learn how to defence herself against zombais, and she see the male lead who want to teach her that like her nemise, because she should enjoy the care of everyone around her without doing anything, and she should be a trangsmator, serisely, if she didn't redeem herself in the later, I would have given this novel a lower rate. <<less
