I even toughed it through the MTL (80% readable so not bad) with such short chapters T.T BUT okay, anyway, rant aside. This story started out promising. It had all my favorite cliche tropes. The FL (Gu Jin) was left disappointed after being thoroughly used and abused in her previous life. There was only one shining factor to speak off, that is, the ML (An Minjing) who she treated kindly now and again in the past and who repayed her by giving her the title of his wife after her death --- even going as far as to obtain revenge for her. Now, in this second chance at life, all Gu Jin wants is to live peacefully with her little wolf cub and become prosperous enough that her previous family can no longer pit her. Luckily, she has a golden finger in the form of a magical space that allows her to grow plants/herbs and cultivate. If this story was a little shorted, and there was less filler, I think I would have kept reading. Yes, even through the annoyingly short chapters LOLOL. But, when put together, my patience just snapped T.T Too bad. If you have more patience than me, then I say give it a try. It's really not bad. It's not perfect, that's for sure, but for a casual read to pick up now and then when you have the time, it's not any worse than some of the other BG novels that I've read. RATING: 2.9/5.Usually, I won't give ratings to novels that I didn't even read half of, and especially so if most of what I read was in MTL. THOUGHTS? This is the second time I read this. During my first read, all I wrote was: "I just can't get into it. Could be a mood thing, but yeah. After several chapters in, I still have no interest." Now, I can confirm that it's really just a matter of a failure in the introduction. The author didn't give me enough time to care for a the naive but somehow also very clever protagonist before throwing her into one crisis after another. It's really disorienting. If you like plot-driven stories, then you might find this novel more enjoyable than I did.

BUT, if you're like me, and you think that it is the characters that drive the story, then you're probably not going to have much fun with this novel unless you have more patience. I read 15 chapters, which according to wordcount is 24% of the content. By that point, I had already run out of patience XD So I can't be sure if the story gets better in the end. All I know is I really can't find myself to care about what happens next. NOTE: It's not that the main character is unlikeable. I actually thought it was interesting to have a naive protagonist than a reborn or transmigrated one for once. It was just that the POV was too distant from her. We find out what happened, she gets divorced, thus some more things, etc. Throughout all this, the focus is on what's happening to her, rather than what she thinks about what's happening. Yes, what she feels may be obvious, and it is implied in the text. BUT still, when the focus of a story is the plot running wild, I find myself lacking any interest to continue reading.

Usually, I don't rate novels that I've not read at least half of. However, since this is the second time I read this novel, and my impression stayed the same, I decided to leave a rating after all. It might not be accurate, but I'm basing it off of what I read. That is, I think that the story was very clumsy when it came to the characters. The writing was fine, and I think the plot could have been interesting if it was handled properly. But, as it is still not something I would want to reread again, the rating I'm giving is still pretty low. <<less

This is my second time reading this novel! The first time around, I persisted for quite awhile (c55 at least). This time, I quit by the 37th chapter XD. Not necessarily because I thought it was a bad read, but well, it's a bit boring. The issue is... this story is more of a study of what a second marriage is like in the 1970s than a story of a girl who is getting married for the second time in the 1970s. Does that make sense?? I guess what I'm saying is... uh, it's like the characters are not involved in it. SUMMARY: The FL is a modern woman that transmigrated into the 1970s. The original owner of the body is named Dong Jiahu. She was married to a weak scum for three years and was divorced for not being able to give birth to any children. After a bit of a back and forth (too much, if you ask me), she ends up getting married to the ML (Zhao Donglin), a retired soldier who is now working as a Comune Secretary. The ML had been married once before, and had even had two children. He encountered the FL and took a fancy to her. As such, the two became a pair.

THOUGHTS: If you're interested in reading more about the era, I recommend giving this novel a try. It's quite detailed about the political environment and cultural expectations in the 1970s (at least, far more explicit than other novels). In this sense, the author did quite a good job. However, that's about it XD. The pacing of the overall plot is a mess from the get-go, and there's lots of filler where nothing really happens. It just drags on and on uninterestingly. The FL, who is overly passive, doesn't make any big moves, playing in the background most of the time. And the ML, who does make some moves here and there, is too dull to push the boat forward. Ahh all this sounds a bit overly negative. But I really don't have a good impression of this novel. Part of it is also because of the messy text. Not sure if it's because of the TL (which is edited MTL, so it's not the cleanest) or just the author's inexplicable style, but there are repeating statements everywhere jslfksjlaf. Well... anyway, since I've given it a second shot and still disliked it, I don't think I'll be reading this again. That being the case, I decided to give it a rating! 2 stars! It’s not the worst, but the inconsistencies and the messy writing does leave a bit of a bad taste. I thought it was interesting at first, as most other readers have claimed, the initial premise is interesting. But in the end, the author disappoints when it comes to balancing the conflicts. I think it’s okay if you’re looking for an amusing, casual read, it was fun enough in the beginning, but yeh, keep in mind that this is very much a Mary Sue novel — don’t expect it to be high quality in the end. <<less

I still agree with most of what I said. Except, this time, knowing about the young MC and the fact that the magical space was just a plot convenience here, I didn't immediately put it down like I had before. I went into it with maximum patience XD HOWEVER... The further I read, the more I realized that the author had a problem with overexplaining. The author overexplains everything XD every time something happens, whether it be a big matter or a small matter there are dozens of paragraphs following explaining why it happened, and most of it is repetitive (the magical space has good ingredients and so everything that comes out of it tastes good -- that explanation appears pretty much every other chapter. As if it's so easy to forget it DX.) I can only assume that the reason for this is to pad the wordcount (after all, the author also chopped up her chapters into 2-3s like TL-ers do sometimes, to make it appear longer.)

Such an issue, paired with the clumsy elements and the overly slow pacing made this novel almost unbearable to read. It's such a shame, the TL is really good T.T. That, and the fact that I was curious about when the ML would eventually come back (he disappears in the first tens of chapters and doesn't appear again until 400 chapters later btw), was the reason I stuck around. But even though I did, I had gotten into the habit of skipping complete paragraphs of superfluous info-dumping (again, the explanations XD) just to get by. **BIG SIGH**

ALL IN ALL, this is really not a good novel. But if you're willing to grit your teeth and bear with it. And you honestly have nothing else to read. It's not completely bad. The characters are at least likable and not completely made out of cardboard. Plus, even though most of the fun of the business management is taken away because of the MC's ultra-convenient space, I still enjoyed that aspect. If it weren't for the fact that every single move the MC makes takes several chapters to explain before finally being inacted in a couple of paragraphs, I would have kept reading. But this, paired with my lack of interest in the ML and my increasing dislike for the MC (who became more and more Mary Sue as time went on) .... Ah. I could only admit defeat XD. As for the rating, I gave it a 2/5. Specifically, 2.1/5. I usually wouldn't give ratings without reading more than half of the novel, but as I have no intention of reread this currently, I decided to give it based on my impressions of what I've read. <<less

2/5!!! [Second Chance, Slice of Life, Historical: China - 1970s] I persisted for a long time, thinking it was not so bad, and that it might get better. But ..... the truth is, it's really boring XD. The author does a great job with worldbuilding, there's lots of detail (so much that it's too much, really). I like this aspect most about the story since you get a real sense of what the times were like back then. However, in terms of characters and plot developments, it's very dry. Part of it is due to the writing style (which has an overly slow pacing paired with lots and lots of info-dumps as well as unnecessary... more>> filler scenes) and part of it is the voice (the FL isn't really the focus of the story here. It takes a very wide scope, and she doesn't actually do much to drive the story forward. She's just there, coasting along. Which makes the developments feel out-of-touch and just --- well, boring XD).

__________SUMMARY: The FL, Wang Xiaoqiu, found herself getting a second chance at life. In her first life, her family had been slowly broken apart due to various unexpected incidents, leaving her, a simple, 8-year-old child, alone to muddle herself through life. She lived several decades just muddling through like this and then found herself back in time. She transmigrated into her 8yo body and began to change things for the better. First, save her mother and little brother, who died earliest. Then, slowly work on the rest of her family members while improving their livelihoods little by little. Oh, and of course, as a transmgirator, she gets a cheat to accompany her back in time (a magical space and ability to repair and copy objects.) With the help of her cheat and her knowledge of the future, she makes various connections early on. Amongst these are the three mentioned in the official summary (not sure which of the first two is the ML, it didn't get to that point yet XD).

__________THOUGHTS: I'm writing such a detailed review of this story now because I don't think I'll be reading this again. I might if it was translated, but I'm not sure how likely that is. Honestly, it's not as bad as I made it out to be. I guess it all depends on your interests. For example, if you're only looking for a story that will show you a clear picture of the lives of the rural people at the time, then this is definitely a win. I've never seen a story be so detailed in regard to various customs and such. In this way, it's not bad for study XD. However, if you're looking for entertainment, then this is not the story for you. There are conflicts and such to make things exciting, but again, since the FL is not the most active and the author tends to change focus quite often, it can get quite boring. ALL IN ALL, definitely not the best. And not my type of story. For this reason, I'm only giving it a symbolic rating of 2/5.  <<less

But I hold to the same impression as before. It's a bit boring and slow-moving. From the very beginning, everything was set up for the FL. Not only did she have a limitless space with everything she needed, she also defeated those that ruined her in her first life, and oh, the ML was interested in her (for no apparent reason) from the very beginning. Like this, the story seemed overly indulgent. If you want to enjoy that kind of easy, self-indulgent story, it's not so bad.... more>> But yeah. In my opinion, it's a bit too stale.

So I'll be rating this now. 1.8/5. At least it's enough to round up to two stars? XD. It's pretty bad LOLOL. I thought the ML was cute at times, but that's about all that I thought was good outside of the setting and stuff (which was at least kinda detailed). As for the FL. Well, the FL was too Mary Sue and Dull. Even when she supposedly smartened up, she had absolutely nothing to her outside of the cheats given by the author, that was anything worth noticing. She had no clear desires and no fears. Making her appear very static as a character. You know, like she's just a cardboard cutout being lead around by the author.

As someone from the 60s, would she honestly keep such a good thing from her beloved grandma??? Sure, feudal superstitions and whatnot may have prevented her from saying anything. But she's meant to be a super simple girl who got cheated for everything she had because of her sister and mother. It's not very realistic or consistent, suffice to say. So, if I go back to reread it later, must remember that. It's also a bit confusing, but that could be the poor TL that I read. <<less

I didn’t get too far before decided to stop, but the basic premise is that there are three female transmigrators thrown into one setting. One is the novel’s protagonist, who hides in the shadows in order to avoid the showy transmigrator (I haven’t actually seen Transmigrator1 in text yet so idk what she’s like). As for the showy transmigrator, this is the FL’s older-di-sister who has a medicine-related golden finger and many money-making ideas. In the novel, the OG!FL was someone who was naturally lucky. She had a good marriage and lived an prosperous life with a good husband and sweet children. The novel seems to be mainly about the different paths the three Transmigrators take. Transmigrator1 is a mystery. Transmigrator2, who was reborn, has eased up on her showy-ness but still refuses to back down when it comes to spreading her fame. As for Transmigrator3, our FL, she has to battle it out with Transmigrator2 while preparing for her marriage with the ML — who mysteriously agreed to marry her even though he remained unmarried in the original novel.

The main premise is that the legitimate daughter (the FL) is schemed upon by rural farmers who replaced her with their daughter. Said daughter lived extravagantly for 13 years while the FL was beaten and overworked. Fortunately, the Marquis (FL’s father) eventually finds out and brings the FL home. The only issue is that it is a bit too late now. The fake daughter has been fully entrenched in the Marquis Home, leaving no room for the FL. The premise interested me in the beginning, but overtime, I got bored. Maybe it’s because of the “she’s not like other girls sentiment” or the boorish scheming of the fake daughter... could also be the inexplicability of the Marquis Family that dote on said fake daughter for seemingly no reason. Whatever the case may be, it’s not what I was expecting. I read and loved some of the author’s other works so I think I may have been misguided LOl. I read up to when they married and then— well the rest of the story, assumedly, is about their life after that. Specifically, living in a small village, making money through embroidery and martial arts, and dealing with both of their backgrounds (the FL’s background is not simple and is assumedly noble). I lost my interest after a while because I just finished reading a very complicated novel with lots of twists and turns as well as complex characters. Switching to this fluffy sweet romance where everything is simple really threw me off LOLOL. Will come back to reread one day but I’ll leave it unrated for now. <<less

Every single time, there’s drama happening. And well, usually that would be kind of fun—a good face-slapping is good every now and then—but the FL is like a dead fish, ya know? She’s super PASSIVE as a character. She just wants to sit back and relax. She was given all sorts of OP abilities but she does nothing with it but cause trouble trying to be a holy mother. If she was a little more involved in the drama, I might have cared about the developments past Ch. 400, but in the end, it just got increasingly more boring. It’s really too bad T.T The TL is REALLY good and it’s one of the most complete epic-novel translations available but Ahh... guess this novel just isn’t for me.

If you want to give this novel a shot, make sure you’re prepared for the drama! Prepare for a mix bag of... well, just a mixed bag of just about everything. The author seemed to have been a bit confused, throwing all sorts of things into the story like no one’s business LOLOL. As for the rating... since I did end up reading and enjoying it for quite a while — plus, the character complexity was there (just not properly utilized) I think the story deserves 3 stars. I can decide whether I want to give it less than 3 or just a little bit more. So tentative rating is 2.85-3.2 stars out of 5. Either way, it rounds up to three heh. <<less

Anyhow! The premise of this novel is similar to the novel that I talked about. In fact, a lot of the beats when it came to plot structure was the same. It was just that certain details were changed based on the character and world settings. The FL of this novel is a woman who is not doing very well in life. She works hard everyday and barely earns enough to make a living. One day, she gets a notification that urges her to download a new game application where you have to lead the main character (the ML) towards a better future in the middle of the apocalypse.

I think certain things about the developing plot after that was a bit convenient and the characters weren’t always realistic. But even so, I enjoyed what I read! I’d say, in terms of enjoyment, I’d rate it 7.5/10! I won’t give a final rating for this novel btw. Mostly because I read most of it in MTL (readable or not, I can’t be sure that my comprehension was all that good). Based on my current experience though. This novel is about a 3.5 stars out of 5 for me. <<less

In this life, not only was she strong and successful, but she was close with Ye Petian (who, in this world, everyone considers as a demon that should be hunted and used for his powerful immortal blood that can heal any injury.)... more>>

Its a character-driven work. The kind that I usually like, but perhaps the style just didn't agree with my current mood, so I couldn't bare to finish it T.T It's not bad though! The TL is well done (though constantly having to change pages every 12-20 paragraphs was a bit of a pain), and the progression of the story was interesting. It's just not the right novel for my current mood.

I'll check it out again in the future though! For now, I'm leaving the rest unread and the work unrated. If I were to give it a preliminary rating, it's probably around 3.5-4 stars out of 5. <<less

Summary: Typical Chinese Reformation Period novel. The FL transmigrates into the body of a fool with the same name. She's said to be extremely lucky and she brought a long a magical space that can store items infinitely (and she'll have unlimited access to said items so long as its been stored into her space once.) The background of the original owner of the body is pretty bad. Her paternal family bullied her, making use of her father's money to spoil themselves while they gave her the worst of everything. They also plotted against her later on down the line, ruining her life completely. When she transmigrates, its just in time to change things. And this becomes the main focus of the story, as well as her marriage to the ML (a disabled soldier who is notoriously unlucky.)

I don't think I'll be reading this in the future, but I didn't mind reading it today. If I had to give it a rating, it would probably not be very good, so I'm trying to avoid it XD In reference, however, it wouldn't be any bigger than 2 stars. <<less
