More so, the romance is a slow burn (and is my main focus to retaliate against a reviewer who said that it wasn't as pronounced). Firstly, the underlying events and interactions of the MC and ML is obvious as to how they grow closer and end up as lovers (that is if you can see it, and you should be able to (?) From how the ML went from wanting to abstain from any form of contact whatsoever with the MC, to slowly letting the MC touches as he wishes to, to actively initiating said touches and indulging the MC, to eventually making his move. As for the MC, going from avoiding the ML, to wanting to spend more time with him, to actively wanting to get involved with the ML and worrying about him- ARENT THEY ALL OBVIOUS SIGNS. So look out at each interactive moments if you're one who's not good at reading between the lines. Even so, the plot lines requires some thought to follow along but it is incredibly satisfying when you reach the end. Also, I know most people would compare the main characters to Lan Zhan and Wei Ying (given how they're the most popular among such tropes of similar genres) but please, the are incredibly different and are in no way inferior nor superior. These characters are of equal shading because there is no aspects of the characters that are similar to allow a basis of comparison. They have different morals, stances and beliefs. They are to each their own and so please see them as who are they and not compare them to another. <<less

Firstly, the different plot lines that follow along the 8 sufferings may seem unlinked to at first, but trust me when I say everything will make sense when it eventually unravels. Each subplots are written so well with detailed thought processes so holy sh*t author thank you for the hard work. Of course, the translator also deserves much praise for being able to fully incorporate the author's writing into another form. Secondly, the side characters are also well developed such that deep emotions of attachment and hatred are easily incorporated into the readers. However, the feelings of some characters are also easily switched over when different perspectives are shown, making the readers not know what to feel about each of them. Contradictory, am I right? Even so, to be able to develop the side characters to this extent without overshadowing the main characters is successfully expressed by the author. Finally, the main characters. Let's just say, it would be better for you to read and understand them yourselves. It'll be much more satisfying as such.  <<less

The many seemingly insignificant events lead up to the ending, and the plot twists and in-depth background information is mind-blowing. Not to mention, their romance is one that has lasted for more than centuries. To say that they are soulmates is not that good enough of a description. Was not so inclined to read this at first but picking this book up late was something I regretted. It’s a slice of life and... more>> a slow romance, but every chapter is written by the author so well that despite its slow pace, it is something I could never lose interest in. <<less

The comedic undertone was pulled off quite well by the author, and the suspense of knowing who the ML is, is really killing me. 

At first, I hadn’t planned to put this novel on the list but the more I think about it, the more I feel that the author really did an amazing job especially with the characters. You can’t seem to hate any of them because there is definitely a quality or theirs that becomes their redemption. An example being the main villain in the end that supposedly orchestrated all the occurring events can’t really be seen as a villain at all. He is the antagonist but yet you can’t seem to hate and instead sympathise with him. The characters apart from the MC and ML aren’t just there for the background and some actually do clench... more>> at your heartstrings.

I like how the author made the villain of the original story still play their designated part out in the one with transmigration, be it indirectly or directly. The villain remains a villain but then again, not really, because everything is different now.  <<less
