Hanging or simply one side died and the other one is nowhere to be found again. Like with many long series of Chinese; it had slow build up in the beginning but very interesting points that hook your interest, you see more clearly of the world layout and power organization, but then in the end it always felt the author lost passion and simply want to end the project. However I still enjoyed it because I really like Yan Tianhen, no matter which lifetimes. The one plot that hit me hard had to be the Twin Moon City illusion arc, I felt that is very well done by author.  <<less

Every single one of them, even the clumsy short lived contracted tortoise (yeah, I still remember the plot after nearly 4 years lol). It is really quite slow in the beginning with MoMo basically studious life, but it will be worth the struggle and you gonna miss his library visit. MC and ML had gradual progress where there is one scene where ML is still in the initial slight interested phase where he bullied MC but totally stopped when MC cries and they communicated well. From then on, the two are inseparable~. The weak to strong journey of MC is chef kiss. MC and ML didn't always win, there are situation where their life is in danger, which I remember a fresh sight 4 years ago since overly OP protagonists that never had to run from a fight is the hype. <<less

Okay first of, this is gender bender novel and the only one that I had ever read in my life ( I can't read others... more>> gender bender without being repulsive). This book captured entirely the issue of which one is determining your gender; your physical body or your inner soul? Because of my own answer that came from reading this, I considered this leaning more to BL because the MC identified himself as man until the end, willingly "entered one-sided gay relationship". Of course his body is a woman, and he had husband that didn't know his inner soul but perfectly said he liked "his tomboyish and brazen wife's side". The humour and the fact that MC is iconic walking meme is entertaining, but the struggle with how he assimilated in having woman body (menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth) is real man-like. Due to how author wrote the husband, I believed the author is woman. But she either had co-writer specifically for MC or she had her own husband to help her better wrote MC. What makes gender bender unappealing to me is how someone essence seems changed entirely by opposite gender body - but this one didn't come across as that. Su Jian is still Su Jian despite his physical body; and I am glad the author put the knowing brother. The brother is affected too much by Su Jian's bickering behaviour that didn't change, that he wrestled this "woman body" out of condition reflexes and went "ah oops sorry". So yeah. A very beautifully written story. It started with a man wanting to live freely, even with a risk for a limited time with his past tightly nailed within him. Ending with said man removing the nails in his life. A ghost that lived trapped in the past. Losing his sanity in order to find the insideous cowardly owl. Willing to die with the destroyed world during the process but the ghost is captivated by dying "samaritan". Then the dying samaritan asked, "Would you like to live?". To live hand in hand with the love of his life without the burden of time. The ghost grabbed that hand, returned to being a human and his time... more>> moves again. The last extra talked about a man finally being freed from frozen time constraint.

I liked the version of the book; especially the ending. "Word of Honor" is great too but you will contemplate the contradiction of "pursuit of immortality" better through the book imo. <<less
