For a writer of such caliber and such an excellent translation, this novel is simply puny. A boring piece of tr*sh, really, with a goddess (an actress who is a walking perfection in this imperfect world of ours) and a powerful CEO as a mighty couple who deals with (aka faceslaps, punishes and destroys) bad guys and gals who did bad deeds in their teenage years.

I was patient enough to read its first eleven chapters, but I can not stand it anymore. It's a waste of my time. Too boring. Dropped it. <<less

It's about an escort impersonating her twin sister, providing services to men enamored with her prolific sister who is a veritable queen bee. Those men are content to be with a substitute on a pay per hour basis. The escort girl provides them with a rent-a-girl service. Basically, she works as the cheapest of all whores, a miserably greedy  one: you can rent her for a minute, if you wish, but still have to pay for the full hour.... more>>

Only the middle portion about the FL marrying a soldier with two kids, survivng the stigma of being a divorcee, and dragging the entire fam to study in university is good, a story well told with a number of characters easy to track and to relate to. <<less

It's a great novel, very well written. However, it is heavy on prostitution, the life of  a village who*e and her wretched kid, working girls in brothels, prostitution of children, etc. Not exactly my favorite topic. So by ch133 of the first volume I started losing interest. And again, I do not get the title of this novel. What little farmer? What little farmer's wife? The MC is a prince, a king with his own kingdom, not a farmer. And the mountains, or a mountain near the village, plays zero role in this story, at least not so far. <<less

This would've been a super nice novel to enjoy if it wasn't for the fact that all four boys in the same family (sons of the same dad, he has no other kids) and both of their male cousins (the only kids of their dad's sister) are gay and in in*estuous relationship of brothers (not half siblings but brothers from the same mom and dad) and cousins being coupled by the author.  There is no filial or familial love between brothers or father-sons, uncles and aunts to nephews, in this family, but in*estuous love galore? Why? Feels weird, really weird. Something that is statistically rare (gay kids) and super rare (only male gay kids, no straights, in*est) is too common in this family and something that is normal (familial love) and common is absent. 

The MC's father's love for four different women of the same age with the same face is super creepy. One dies, he finds himself another one, the second one dies, he finds a third one, the third one ages and is no longer a twenty something years old, he finds a fourth young carbon copy of the first one, etc. And he deliberately sets up his own kids on the path of self destruction and finances it, refuses to recognize his own spawn as his own, etc.

Nah, this kind of family is not interesting at all. <<less

Additionally, even 111 chapters and a decade later, at ch777, there still has been no divine doctor practice, nor sweet wife, just a teenage girl and then a single young woman who cooks well and teaches young village kids to read and write and does business. All warmth and love and sense of family in that story was gone replaced by money money money and more money and revenge for things people did in another life but not in this life. Basically torturing and punishing people for things they are not even aware of ever doing! I completely lost interest in destinies of any of the characters or families in that story at that point and stopped reading it. There is nothing to look forward to but more wealth and dominance on top of the already massive wealth of the Gus and the Mos and delays and more reasons for the FL and the ML to not get married for a couple of decades longer? <<less

And the relationship between the 15years old FL and her 25yrs old beau will take years and hundreds of chapters to blossom starting from the ice cold phase in the first hundred chapters. Meanwhile the chapters are filled with easy money making based on cheats, with hatred and hateful people, politics and other ugly thigs, so I lost interest. <<less

It's a passably good novel about work and personal life of a talented PR professional who wants to become an actress. She is very clever and a master schemer, knows how to destroy or elevate someone's status and livelihood and keep herself safe. Honestly, she destroys many times more lives than she nurtures so far.... more>>

 The ML is of course a superpowerful superChinese (han chinese Mr.Han) CEO with a divine super ability to know when someone is lying that he inherited as a head of the Han empire. 

Coarsely written, zero originality. Not interesting enough to want to know what will happen next in the FL's family, school of drama or love life and friendship circle. The only things that stand in favor of that novel is the ability of its author to write 3500chapters non stop and of the Atlas Studio translators to translate that nearly garbage completely.  <<less

I love every other novel by this author except this one. I tried reading it several times and the result is the same - too off-putting. The FL is unpleasant, irritable and irritating, and beats her 3 year old child Dudu too often, basically, on every page. Her feeding her son exclusively greasy takeouts and KFCesque fast food , making him obese is another form of child abuse. She even cons him of his little red envelope money!  It's impossible to fall in love with such MC. ... more>>

Her poverty is also described as very unpleasant. Her self-deprecating inner dialogue is so unpleasant, it induces vomiting. Basically, she is an icky person without redeeming qualities and an awful single mother. She will recover, of course,  but the reader has to sit through dozens and dozens of chapters of such garbage - hundreds of messages of self humiliation, self brainwashing that illness, no matter what illness, and obesity/excessive growth of fat tissue  is an illness, reduces a person to the level of cow dung.

She is a glutton herself and her gluttony is described as very ugly, not a hearty eating, nor as enjoyment of tasty foods. And of course it has bad consequences for her health - super obesity with each forced dieting ending with a disastrous rebound and more weight gain.

 And the author's sense of humor is not the best either, not in this novel. Cringeworthy.

The chapters about Dudu meeting his dad for the first time and the FL's backstory are heartbreaking. <<less

This popular novel (very popular in China) is very tiresome to read. It wears me out, like a hard to do job. The ML is kind to his younger friend/adopted brother, this young boy loves him and sacrifices himself for him now and again, so no wonder there is some reciprocity, but otherwise in that post apocalyptic world there is no kindness at all. There is abject poverty in everything, not just in things material, but in the very soul of a human being in that novel. People are no longer normal people, they are all very... Chinese, C-novelesque Chinese: profit oriented and ruthless, and C-novelesque superhumans are even less human.... more>>

 The system which was installed by the researchers in the MC a year ago when he was hurt by a pack of wolves and spent a couple of days unconscious imposes some good deeds on the ML, but it is artificial, in exchange for some perks and goodies, they are not instances of genuine goodness, that goodness that ask for nothing in return. Ironically, the system wants to transform the MC, and will succeed, into a super superhuman, level god, basically. So far, I do not see even a spark or a shadow of anything remotely admirable in the MC or his future girlfriend. Yang Xiaojin, the assassin, is super annoying. I dislike each and every mentioning of her in that story, bueee.... They are both like killing machines geared for meaningless survival of the fittest.

In that sense, it feels similar to Reverend Insanity, but Reverend Insanity is brilliantly written, unlike this novel, and way better translated. So, I am tired of forcing myself to crawl through its pages, tempted to drop it. (I did drop it after struggling with it for 157chapters.)

P.S. It becomes a bit better and a little exciting around ch.85. The ML's little brother's life in the little town is threatened, his more or less protected and innocent childhood abruptly ending, and the ML is man-hunted and surrounded by professional troups too many to count and revealed his super strength. The two brothers' lives will never be the same again. But then the story becomes unpleasant and boring again. <<less

Also, though I understand how busy the FL is with making a living while never even liking kids before or now, she made a six years old physically very lively child, her little brother, spend his days completely alone, socially isolated from family and peers, "studying". Not good. That is probably the author's fault or bias, but still, it made me dislike the FL and killed the desire to continue reading this ultra feminist essay on modern business and marketing practices transplanted into the ancient world masquerading as a novel. Reading too often than men are scum and us, all of us two legged creatures, us mere mortals, are to be despised is just not interesting.

This is a story about a twenty something fashion magazine editor transmigrating into the body of an eight years old rural girl in ancient China. Her parents and extended family decided to offer her and her little brother as living sacrifices to the river god, basically to kill them, to get rid of them, but they survive the drowning due to the help of the spirit animal and a portable space that she owns, get themselves adopted into another family and make a living by first selling produce and doing some sewing and embroidery, and later by manufacturing and selling fish balls, modern soap, modern condiments (chili peppers and tomato based which introduced two new plants and their agriculture as well), modern desserts (milk candies, cheesecakes, cupcakes, pearl milk tea, etc.) <<less

Starts off with horrendous bullying, attempted mu*der of a child, and child abuse by her father to please the bullies. And the author justifies it!... more>> And the translator is OK with it. Impossible to continue reading that. These people are disgusting beyond words. <<less

It's passable but not that interesting really, especially in the beginning, especially when the author decided to open the story with the tried and proven Chinese literary device: the morning after the r*pe scene. The 27y.o. FL is reborn into her own 18y.o body in the morning after that peculiar Chinese style first night when the girl is practically mutilated by the beastly Chinese male, covered in bruises, barely able to walk, etc. And that is from the young man who deeply and unconditionally loves her! And that is on the resilient body of the FL who had not a single scratch after fighting dozens of powerful martial artists in a future chapter (the fight... more>> in a bar after an attempted kidnapping and r*pe), why then there is so much bruising after lovemaking with her boyfriend? (inconsistency much?)

I am not sure I will actually drop it, but I am crawling though the pages at a snail pace, forcing myself to read it, taking frequent breaks and timeouts. Other readers promise in their reviews that it will get better, especially after the first thousand (!!!) chapters are over (which for this novel means 1/3). Will I be able to endure 1000 chapters of that? Maybe. The FL is actually nice. Not very interesting, nor triggering sincere compassion or veritable pity, but nice. She truly deserves the second chance in life and makes all the right choices every step of the way.

P.S. Actually, this novel drastically improves starting from ch.120, becoming funny as well.

P.P.S. Dropped it at ch 545, during the movie ceremony awards. This is the entertainment biz arc where the FL simultaneously discovered (or unlocked) her superhuman strength and godly martial arts skills in addition to her acting skills and photographic memory. Unfortunately, this arc about work of a talent manager and PR professional in Chinese entertainment biz is not entertaining at all! It is not badly written, but it is not that entertaining.

At this point there is nothing to look forward to in this novel. To her reestablishing the family ties with her brother and saving him from that bit*h of the best girlfriend of hers? To know who is the main mastermind behind the mastermind of the attack in B county? To her going to college? Marrying her beau and having a kid? Nah, it is not that interesting, Why? Mostly, because all of it is based on cheats, really. She knows the future at least ten years ahead, she seems to be genetically modified to be superhuman in a variety of ways, starting with her superhuman beauty, etc. It's given, not earned. There is no effort, no growth or development, although she does work hard, saves people, and corrects a lot of wrongs, no denying that. So, I understand people who love that novel.  <<less

The first 120chapters are certainly unusual and fresh. A modern day Chinese chef has an accident and transmigrates into an ancient village girl's body on her first night with her unwilling husband. Technically, there was no r*pe, but two h**ny individuals equally needing release. Neither was willing, but the girl was a child bride, bought for this purpose years ago, and the groom inherited the bride from his suddenly deseased older brother. I do not think that Chinese folks have that custom, but orthodox Jews do (a brother has to marry the widow of his older brother). Their well intentioned and caring mother, formerly a small town whore, a s*x worker in her youth, did not... more>> even think twice, she just had to marry both of them (out of poverty) and treated them as animals, as pigs, by secretly giving both some s*xual stimulant used to breed pigs, to make the male pig perform. So the couple ate a meal with that powder admixed, got h**ny and needed each other to scratch the itch so to speak. This would be similar to triggering an estrus in an Omega and him/her needing an Alpha to survive in some omegaverse novel. Except that this original fifteen years old girl did not survive her first forced estrus.

 The girl accidentally overdosed on that powder, her hormones got out of whack, and she kicked the bucket in the middle of the act, thus the transmigree's soul took her place. The mother is guilty on manslaughter, not of r*pe. The groom thinks he f*cked his sister in law to death, took her v**ginity and deserves death.

She is super profit minded, even thrifty and frugal I would say where it comes to home economics, very liberal and open minded where it comes to s*x, and VERY knowledgeable in her professional domain.

 I do not foresee any comedy or romance in this novel with such an FL. What I love about it is how down to earth it is and how much I learn from it about Chinese foods. It's refreshing.

P.S. Dropped it. First of all, the whole story is but a dream that the FL had while in coma in modern hospital in China. This kills the desire to read instantly. Second, and the hint is right in the first chapter, it is about life and death of an old village widow, a former prostitute and a mother of a young s*x sevant, and her other offspring. These two females commit crimes, they struggle with adversities in life and they find fulfillment of their desires. I just do not like to read about two generations of s*x workers and everyone involved against their will, sorry. <<less
