When she woke up again, she found herself become a peasant’s wife…

Aunts constantly came to bully her family, and there were crazy relatives seeking troubles.

Do they really think her strong husband was just a decoration or something?

Her “decorative” husband: “when we get everything done, how will my fantastic chef wife thank me?”

“Braised chicken, stewed eel, sesame butter roll, fried meat with fermented bean curd, roasted pheasant…just name it!”

He gave her a smirk and said, “Tonight, I want something different…”

???????????

Progress: chapter 276
Note: spoilers ahead
Hmmm. I just want to say that normally I dont delete novels I booked in my library but I had to for this one.

Spoiler

Reading from chapter 240 - 276 really broke my heart.
There is cheating folks. Even tho they are not married- since he divorced her (to keep her safe from his pursuers) but dammit! ML having s*x with another female not the the FL is soo not my cup of tea - even tho he was so drunk. I regret reading this now. Regret it till my liver turned green.!!!!

[collapse]

The author is so good in finding conflicts for both MCs. There isnt very good character development in most characters even. Female MC is so indecisive in love relationship matters (for fiction novels) Ugggh! Im so mad. Mad. Mad. Mad!!!!! I've never disliked an author before but I do now!???

I protest the doting love interest tag!!!!!! I might be true for reality but not in fiction!!!!
** I removed the tag now

recommendation: If you are looking for something to hurt yourself read this. It will start aweful- then somewhat un reasonable- then slap you with a cheating tag!!!????

Ok so first and second chapters, the main character and her "future" husband who is also her dead husband brother (so brother in law) are both drugged by their mother then the MC get f*** so violently that she dies....

Morning when the mother comes, the MC actually thinks :

" "" Ye Xiaoxian smiled faintly, wondering what age she was in when she was able to find a mother-in-law wo treated her daughter in law so well"

... This made it for me, a writer s*upid enough to put something like that... more>> seriously in his novel is either a rapist trying to "pardon" himself or a moron whose writing deserve to be destroyed. Don't know which is it and don't care.

3 people above have given this 5 stars and I don't get how it is possible.

The first says :

the r*pe tag seems to be for the first chapter- MC and the ML have been drugged by the mother-in-law so that they [...] both unwilling. MC forgives the mother-in-law for doing so and doesn't hold any grudges, has not yet been readdressed since and yeah that entire situation is problematic as heck.

The second writes :

The mother in law seems pretty nice except for the fact of how she arranged for their marriage, I've grown sick of evil mothers. The main character is a responsible and confident modern woman and the male lead has a great attitude.

And the third explains :

The FL's is courageous, confident and eloquent, totally having me hooked. Besides, it's the first time I've seen a prosti mother-in-law being so good to the FL.

I don't enjoy speaking about others reviews because everyone should be allowed their own thought but still... how can someone be that blind ?

PS: the last one named 3clips3 compared this to "Field of gold" and if I was Field of gold's writer, I would probably be soooo pissed that my fine novel be compared to this crap. <<less

the way they excuse the mother-in-law's abhorrent actions via exposition & the mc's mouth is disgusting. whatever interest this sort of premise would ordinarily dredge up in me locked itself in a coffin and burrowed deep underground never to see light again, unable to cope. sigh. her poor son. I just started reading it and I'm really fond of the characters! The mother in law seems pretty nice except for the fact of how she arranged for their marriage, I've grown sick of evil mothers. The main character is a responsible and confident modern woman and the male lead has a great attitude. I'm reading a lot of historical novels at the moment but the guys all act selfishly and are far too arrogant. He is a really great male character I like how he is really appreciative and... more>> kind, guess great character comes with the commoner setting ^^. I thank the translator for the translation, definitely gonna continue reading! <<less

Didn't like this at all.

MC was such a detached but very inconsistent person. She thought "Oh well, he's not my husband anyway" but got mad when he treated her like everyone else.

Spoiler

Also, when the super annoying sister of ML went cray-cray, she just dismissed all the craziness. She noticed that Baozhu turned into a walking nightmare and stalker, but kinda forgot to do anything about it. She doted on the crazy girl more instead. Give her everything without working, turn this crazy girl into more of an ungrateful little sh*t. When Baozhu finally gone the unspeakable thing, MC said in her heart 'whatever the girl will get her punishment later'. I thought it was fair.. And maybe MC finally understood what she had done, let this girl became a monster. But then she forgot. She didn't get mad at all. She tried to help Baozhu, didn't even think for a second that Baozhu was at fault. WTF.

Is it love that blinded her? She cared about this little sister in law so much? No. She just didn't care. MC got no brain besides cooking. She got the emotional capacity of a fish. She should have noticed the signs of this little girl rebelling and put a stop on it or some face slaps, but no. She just didn't care about anything. She's too busy. Too absent minded from all the failed flirting with ML.

[collapse]

The romance is non existent so far. MC can't show much experience and can only be jealous, ML was even dumber.

Minimal face slaps, I didn't get much satisfaction after they left the village. It only got more annoying. Much more annoying. Because of that crazy stalker

And reading the spoiler of the reviewer before me, I decided to drop this novel. Such a drag reading this. I thought it would be about good food, instead I got annoyed a lot with no revenge. MC was too flat. Can't say she was emotionless, but she was just.. Careless. So why should I care about the characters?

The most real character was the mother in law. Now that's a woman I'd count on. <<less

MC just doesn't cut it for me. I like how she runs her business, but everything else, like stuff that involves the ML just bothers me. She can't seem to make up her mind whether she likes him or not and it's really annoying. One minute she's mad that he doesn't do something or gets jealous when another girl pops up, but a soon as he starts showing affection she thinks he's clingy and what not. It makes no sense. I really wanted to like this book, but she... more>> just completely turned me off from it. <<less

This story seems very promising. The plot is interesting with a fine rhythm. The FL's is courageous, confident and eloquent, totally having me hooked. Besides, it's the first time I've seen a prosti mother-in-law being so good to the FL. But the aunts and the old mister are truly mean. I have the feeling that there will be face-slapping soon. Really looking forward to it.

Translations are well done. MC is using her cooking skills to improve the lives of herself and her family, and the story is going pretty well so far. Similar to 'Fields of Gold' but she's starting out as a newly wed teenager and not as a child.

If you like Fields of Gold I recomend this one.

First impresion it's quite similar.

It's still to early to say it's as good as Fields of Gold. But it's quite promising for me.

ML kind of shy in front of MC. Can't wait their future relationship.

So I don't know if it's due to the choppy translation by MTL or just lazy translator, but my first impression is this:

You're a woman from the 21st century and you've just died in an accident (?) only to find you've transmigrated into some random peasant girl body, who was then drugged along side a man, whose brother your new body was supposed to marry, has died due to illness. Not only this, but you find out that you were roofied by you own adoptive mother (?). And how... more>> do you react to this? "Yeah, I understand mother. It's cool."

Not only that, but you're supposed to be a 5 star chef (which for those of you who don't know are supposed to be the best of the best chefs in the world), and you only got paid 600 yuan a day (about $100 USD a day) ?

Uh-huh. Riiiight...

And all of this BS was within the first 1-3, god knows what I'm going to read going forward. This story honestly sounds more like some crazy Chinese male wet dream, as the FML is a woman who can cook (and is cool with being stupendously underpaid), is also totally okay with some beyond archaic ideal of 'filial piety' and will never stand up for herself (I'd honestly tell my in-law to go eat sh1t and die if I had to deal with 1/100th of the BS most FML deal with in these kinds of novels). <<less

The story and its translation was great so I'd like to send my great gratitude to the author and the translator for doing an amazing job. I truly enjoyed reading it even though the MC is very indecisive.
Spoiler

The story was doing great and all at first until the dumb amnesiac ML unintendedly and unintentionally let a vixen "forced" him to sleep with her; and to be honest, the vixen has a great character aside from being s**tty. However, infidelity was truly a big turn off for me. That's why I stopped reading the story and yes, the infidelity happened unintentionally but it's truly impossible for a man to be r*ped by a woman. Moreover, I believe it's truly unfair that the vixen get to have a better and clean slate in life while the MC and the ML still have to pick up the broken pieces of their relationship. Overall, I guess I started from liking this story into hating it. So, if you're a masochist, you'd be absolutely glad with this story. Good luck!

I was shocked by chapter 1, thinking "what a shitty mother-in-law" then "what a shitty MC" for forgiving that mother-in-law so easily and still feel lucky for what she did, plus for her complete lack of empathy for the dead OG (I'd say the OG was killed by what the mother-in-law did).

Getting past that part, I was surprised that the story becomes better, even enjoyable. MC is efficient, practical, has a good mind for business, and I love how decisive she is. All is good.... I thought "what ML, we... more>> don't need an ML here".

Then ML comes, I felt it's odd but okay, just move on. And it went on still fine, normal like other novels in this genre -- until the war happens. Her and her group's escape is fine, even though the way their group integrated in the middle of the local non-Han tribe is too superficial and demeaning to non-Han people. Still okay.

Until the big revelations happen, until she got dragged into political intriques, and that is when things dwindled very quickly, the story becomes more and more bizarre, dragging, and tiring. I was still reading (skipping, more likely) in order to use up Flying Lines point I foolishly bought (I was new in reading webnovels, I thought all sites are based on donation like FL). When I am out of points, that's when I stopped. <<less

I liked this novel up until now, very well written, excellent depiction of emotions, social skills or lack thereof, and real life, very Chinese, and I like the FL.

There is nothing to say about the ML so far, really, because he is detached from the FL, unattractive to the point that even the FL is not attracted to him, and there is zero chemistry both before and after they had s*x. In other words, neither their married life, nor their s*xual life leads to them being a great couple in... more>> life.

This is probably one of those novels where the FL and the ML will really marry each other very late in the story, first going through gazillions of trials and tribulations individually. It is not "first marry then love" story at all. Instead, they dissolve that imposed on them rural form of "marriage by default once they slept in the same bed" first, live a life next, while the FL's body matures and reaches the legal age of marriage in modern China, I guess. Finally, get married.

Spoiler

The ML gave the FL his earnings for safekeeping, but him and her live parallel lives without any interactions or even seeing each other for weeks which is probably ok, because the FL is very young bodily speaking (15-16y.o.) and very mature in real age (more than him in any case), and busy with feeding their large family and establishing her social network in this new life. For a long while he was not into her and when he warmed up to her he still did nothing. He was and is her husband only because his mother, the r*pe drug dealing whore, said so.

120chapters in, the FL is still in the survival mode just as she was on day one after her transmigration. Or worse. Back then she at least had a room for herself and free time to go to the mountains or to stroll the streets and shop. Now, there is zero leisure, only work double shifts without days off and sleep in super crowded conditions of five snoring people per room, nothing else

What I abhor is the huge chunk of the story that reads "like mother like daughter", what the FL's mother in law and her little sister in law did. They did the same thing and behaved like terrible, merciless whores towards the young virg*n men they supposedly love: one fed pig s*xual stimulant to her own son and daughter-in-law (her other son's wife!), accidentally killing the teen, while another assaulted and kidnapped a young scholar weeks prior to his wedding and staged a r*pe scene with him, ending up being his handmaid (s*xual servant, which is the lowest form of marriage in that place in that era) - and being OK with it. All of them are OK with both deeds. Except maybe the folks outside their family, but this novel's motto is "who cares about what other people think, in our family we do what we want and get away with it"!

Is the FL guilty of corrupting the little girl? Sure. She came to this world oh so filled with her own progressive ideas and wanted the young village girl to learn to read and brought her inappropriate books to learn from, thus filling her head with impossible love and s*x fantasies without appropriate moral guidance. There is a reason why certain literature is not suitable for young kids and for parental guidance tag and parental controls.

With the girl's mother being a former prostitute who mu*dered her own daughter-in-law by feeding her a huge dose of pig s*xual stimulant, the FL should have known a little better than to interfere in such a way with the young teenager's development in her family. It's not like she gave her Cinderella, Little Mermaid and Mulan stories to read, or discussed the reading with her and taught her manners and morals, etc. She really fed her little SIL a doze of mental and moral poison via those tr*shy novels for the young rich housewives market and left the girl to her own devices when she developed her first crush. The girl became a s*xual servant and insists on it! And her family, the adults, let her decide, going along with her decision! Like mother like daughter. And the FL is teaching her how to skilfully rise in ranks in that scholar's household and get what she wants! The concubine status, I suppose.

Well, by now the young sister in law became the focus of the novel and it is so vomit inducing that I am dropping it because there is nothing to look forward to. The lives of two immoral s*x workers, one of them severely underage, their crimes, and their families are not my favorite topic at all.

[collapse]

To top it all the entire novel is

Spoiler

double wrapped on both ends as (1) life and death of this old prostitute whose son eventually becomes the prime minister and whose grandchild marries into the royal family. (2) The whole story of life after accident and transmigration is but a dream that the FL has had in coma while recovering in the hospital.

I've mtl read it until c450. I don't know if it was the end (it said still ongoing) but if it is then I added one star for the ending.

What I don't like was the story kinda dragging a lot after c200er

Mainly I read it because of the MC. I like her characteristic. The ML are good and upright but if I were to have such a man like that...sigh...

Overall it was a good read.

I was enjoying this for the most part. It wasn’t a very serious novel, very slice of life until suddenly it wasn’t.

Spoiler

Baoshan leaving was annoying but not surprising, what was surprising was the attack??? Like everything is chill and then bam! Someone was attacking the city we must leave!! They became refugees and are traveling and you read about Baoshan being a general and leading an army which made me lose all interest tbh like I was reading about food not wartimes

I read up to ch 74 and at a very slow pace becuz I was uncomfortable the entire time reading it. The MC is just a disappointing character when it comes to love. I mean she’s great everywhere else becuz she has a modern mentality but her relationship with her husband just confuses the f*ck out of me. Also how tf did she come to terms with how she reincarnated. Like sis ur mother-in-law drugged u and then the previous owner of ur body died becuz she was essentially r*ped.... more>> The novel would have been way better without this start. I gotta say this is the first time I find a MC this annoying. She is so indecisive and frivolous. She doesn't know what she wants at all. Actually tbh, I don't think I like any of the characters. The ML is not that great either, her sister in law it's the absolute worst. Then there's scholar Wong who is absolutely ridiculous. The only character I find somewhat reasonable is the mother in law, at least she is not an inconsistent little bit*h like the other characters in this novel.... more>> The romance is absolutely sh*t and there is zero character development. There's simply no point to this story.
It's specially disappointing because I liked it a lot at first, I was hoping for so much, but it was just crappy development. I do not recommend it, I'm dropping it and I hate this story ? <<less

Truthfully I was looking forward to reading it but when am MC justifying being r*ped and forgives in a heart beat, I believe there's no one in their right mind would do that. Although the mother-in-law had her reasons, being r*ped and plotted against I believe sucks balls. After reading the comments I found that it might be a good novel but that first and second chapter just put me off, will try again another day
