I hate it when very successful people end up participating in Showbiz. They're already established in their fields what the heck. Not everyone should be showcased in tv shows!

Lu Man's father divorced her mother when she was 14 and married her aunt (mother's sister) afterwards. After that all his attention was on Lu Qi. She was forced to leave university (she wanted to become a fashion designer) and become Lu Qi's assistant.

In her previous life Lu Man was betrayed by her father Lu Qiyuan, fiancee He Zhengbai and illegitimate sister Lu Qi. They put her in prison and planned to kill her in a fire when she got out. She dragged Lu Qi and He Zhengbai with her in the fire and died.

Her father and sister keep coming back to make trouble for her even in the hospital where her mother who has a heart problem lies. Han Zhuoli puts bodyguards in the hospital and helps her every time. When her father stops her from getting a job anywhere, she is hired at the PR department of Han Zhuoli's company.

When she is on set of a movie the director sees her making some martial arts moves and she is hired as an actress. Later on she is hired as the lead in another movie. Her family and others keep coming back to make trouble for her, but each time she manages to fight back with her PR skills. She becomes a PR legend.

She decides to go back to school and this time she will study acting. Every year China has an exchange program with the US and they have a contest, China loses. This time the first have a contest in China and China wins with the help of MC. A year later a new contest is held in the US. MC participates again and it ends in a draw. While on stage a day later a lamp falls down on MC's head, rendering her unconscious. 3 days later her brother is kidnapped. The kidnappers demand for her mother and stepfather to divorce. Turns out Lin Jinshu and Wang Qiangyun are behind both incidents. The police and ML's men find the boy in time. Both women are captured by the police and imprisoned.

MC marries Han Zhuoli and later on tells him about her previous life.

MC stays in a coma for 9 days. She dreams of her previous life. She follows ML as a ghost until the end of his life. He never gets married. ML calls for an exorcist and spiritualist who helps to wake her up.

Her mother meets her youth love again and marries him and they have a son. MC gets pregnant and has twins, a daughter and a son.

Lu Man - Han Zhuoli - main couple, see spoilers

Xia Qingwei (MC's mother) x Wang Juhei (Studied violin with Xia Qingwei's father. World famous violinist.) Juhei in love with Xia Qingwei, but was drugged by Lin Jinshu and told she got pregnant, so he married her. Divorced her 10 years ago. When he met Xia Qingwei again and found out she also divorced, he immediately started pursuing her and married her shortly after. Supports MC. She calls him dad. They get a son together. His ex-wife causes a lot of trouble for both, because she wants to marry him again.

Han Zhuoling (cousin of ML) x Shi Xiaoya (make-up artist). Zhuoling got married on instigation of his father. Divorces his wife when he finds out she cheated on him and had a child during their marriage that years turns out not to be his. The Han family damages the Xia family foundation to punish them. Falls in love with Shi Xiaoya, a make-up artist who did make-up for MC. Whole arc about his very clumsy courtship. Several people who are looking for trouble with her and is helped by Zhuoling. When his relationship with Xiaoya becomes public, his ex-wife keeps making trouble for Xiaoya. She ends up in prison for 3 years and her family is bankrupted by the Han family.

Wei Wucai x Yan Zhiqing (actress) - both members of the 8 major families. Arc about them falling in love. Wei Wucai is a genius hacker and computer specialist. Yan Zhiqing is an actress. Zhiqing first thinks he's gay because he recognizes things about her make-up and he lets her believe that to get close to her. They also have people looking for trouble mainly for Zhiqing.

Jiang Yujie x Jiang Huaizhou - her mother married his father. Not blood related. Huaizhou was framed by Lu Dongyin and sent to prison while innocent. His parents did not really believe in his innocence and did not try too hard to keep him out of prison. Yujie decides to start working for Lu Dongyin to look for proof of his innocence. She even becomes his mistress. She finally finds the proof and hands these to the authoroties. Her brother is released and Lu Dongyin is sent to prison. She decides to leave because she's in love and can't handle what she did to get him out. Mother divorces husband for having no faith in daughter and to pave way for daughters romance. When she comes back a year later they get married.

Han Dongpin x Lin Liye - parents of Han Zhuoling and Han Zhuofeng. Dongpin is seen as someone with no insight. He arranged the first marriage of Zhuolimg which failed and even tried to arrange a marriage for ML. Thinks MC is not good enough for ML and tries to throw up all kinds of obstacles to block her. His wife decided to move away from him and live with her sons because of the things he did. He tried hard to get back together with her and improved his behavior.

Han Zhuofeng (cousin of ML) x Xie Jiling (spiritualist) - Is left behind a few times when his brother courts Xiaoya. Has to look for a taxi to get home. An actress in Zhuofeng's movie is possessed by a fox demon who wants Zhuofeng's energy. Because he has an amulet made by Xie Jiling, the fox demon is stopped. He calls for Xie Jiling to help. Acts as a scaredy cat. The find several cases where a rogue spiritualist causes trouble. The find him and he dies because of a backlash. They get married.

Xie Jiwen (cousin of Xie Jiling and spiritualist) x Hu Kaiyin (military) - short story about them getting together. He gets advice from Zhuofeng to confess.

Xia Qingyang - Sister of Xia Qingwei. Was in love with Wang Juhei. Interfered in her sisters marriage and had a child with Lu Dongying 2 years younger than MC. She married him later after he divorced her sister. Always makes trouble for MC and tries to get advantages for her own daughter Lu Qi. When her husband asks for a divorce and accuses her of stealing his money, she takes the wrap for her daughter. She is sentenced to 6 years in jail. Lu Man visits her in jail to tell her Lu Qi died and she has a mental breakdown.

Lu Dongyin - MC's father. The novel mentions first that he seems to have been a good father in the beginning which changed after he got remarried when she was 14. However later on in the novel it is mentioned she never had birthdays etc. Forced MC to quit university where she wanted to learn fashion design and to become an assistant of Lu Qi who became an actress. Tried to get MC to get the fall and go to jail when Lu Qi harmed a famous movie director. Always tries to harm and disparage MC and take advantage of her. When his 2nd wife starts to behave more and more like a shrew, he starts having an affair with his secretary Jiang Yujie. When his wife finds out she starts making a fuss. He decides to ask for a divorce and accuses her and his daughter of stealing from him. His wife decides to take the wrap under condition that He Zhengbai marries Lu Qi to prevent him from keeping the money. Jiang Yujie's brother was setup by LU dongyin and sent to prison for bribery. She only became his mistress to prove her brother's innocence. Gets help from MC. When she finds proof of her innocence this is handed over to the police and he is sent to prison.

Lu Qi - MC's half-sister. Always tries to put down MC. Started an affair with He Zhengbai who was MC's fiancee. Tried to get MC to get the fall when she harmed a movie director who wanted to sleep with her. Keeps coming back and losing against MC. When her father gets a stroke and ends up in the hospital, she works with her mother and boyfriend to take away as much money as possible from the company. When her father asks for a divorce and accuses them of stealing money from his company later on, she lets her mother take the wrap on condition He Zhengbai marries her (to prevent them from losing the money). As soon as they are married he starts to ab*se her (hit her). When He Zhengbai finds a new candidate to become his wife, he decides to kill her on his father's instigation. He wants to burn her like they did to MC in her previous life. She drags He Zhengbai along and he ends up in hospital with his whole body burned. Lu Qi dies right away. Lu Qi appears at his bed as a vengeful spirit and he dies after that. She later haunts He Zhengbai's parents but is exorcised by Xie Jiling.

He Zhengbai - MC's fiancee. His mother was a friend of MC's mother. Cheated on MC with Lu Qi and later became Lu Qi's boyfriend and husband. Later starts cheating on Lu Qi. Works with her to take away funds from Lu Dongyin's company when he is in hospital. He Zhengbai marries Lu Qi on condition her mother takes the wrap for stealing money from her husbands company.. As soon as they are married he starts to ab*se her (hit her). When He Zhengbai finds a new candidate to become his wife, he decides to kill her in a fire on his father's instigation. She drags He Zhengbai along and she dies right away and he ends up in hospital with burns on hiscentire body. He dies in hospital after seeing Lu Qi's vengeful spirit.

Xia Yixing - married Han Zhuoling and had son Han Linkai. It later turned out Linkai was not a real son of Zhuoling. She cheated on him with Chen Zefeng, an agent from Interpol. Also cheated with others. MC saw her with Zefeng and took pictures. Zhuoling divorces her and the son is handed over to his father by the Xia family. Then the Han family uses the family mandate to damage the foundation of the Xia family and when she keeps making trouble they bankrupt the Xia family. Weird how the boy is already exiled from the family before the DNA test came back.

Director Liang Chengbing - blocked of the road to the house of MC's parents. MC made this public, causing backlash for his movie. Later refused to be in the same tv program as her, whereafter the program chose MC. Was a judge for giving awards to movies and blocked MC from getting an award. Was thrown out as judge.

Lin Jinshu - Drugged Wang Juhei when he wanted to marry MC's mother. She told him she got pregnant so he married her. He divorced her 10 years ago. Wants to get back together with Wang Juhei. Caused all kinds of problems claiming MC's mom interfered in their marriage. Blackened MC after she wins an award. ML blocks her fashion design company to force her to go back to the US. She later even kidnapped MC's brother wanting to force them to divorce. Luckily the son was saved and she was sent to prison.

Wang Qiangyun - her uncle is Wang Juhei. Is in love with ML. Always harrassing him and trying to get close to him. He wants nothing to do with her. Worked in PR department of US movie company and came to China to promote their movie. Disparaged Chinese movies causing a lot of backlash. Was fired later on. She keeps making trouble for MC. She caused a lamp to fall on MC's head, which landed her in hospital in a coma for 9 days. Also involved in the kidnapping of MC's brother. Was sent to prison because of that.

Dai Yiran - In love with ML. Dongping considered her a good candidate for marriage with ML. She schemed with Dongping to have MC kidnapped and assaulted on her wedding day (which was stopped). Wanted by the police. Later gets captured.

Qiao Luna - actress. Was in a show with MC where she got jealous. She tried to trip MC, but was stepped on and harmed her own foot. Tried to blacken MC several times on the internet afterwards.

Zhang Lun - movie director. His film came out at the same time as MC's. When he blackened MC, his movie was blocked in MC's movie theaters. Often blackens MC when a new person turns up who is against her.

Howard - A acting student who came to China in an exchange program to compete with Chinese actors. Every year China loses. This time China wins.

Lian Qingyin - Has been in love with Han Zhuoling since highschool. Totally obsessed with him. Delirious. Tries to have Xiaoya be in a serios car accident. She gets killed by the black market she hired to harm Xiaoya.

Lu Xiuse - fellow actress. Jealous of Yan Zhiqing and repeatedly makes trouble with her.

Luo Qingxuan - in love with Wei Wucai. Tries to make trouble for Xiaoya and Yan Zhiqing.

Qu Mengyu - in love with Jiang Huaizhou. Makes trouble for him when he tells her he already has a girlfriend.

I chose this novel specifically to read about Lu Man and Han Zhouli. All of sudden I'm reading about his older cousin and a make up artist. Just ruined all the vibes. I don't know I guess I'd just rather read about them having a family and being domestic than reading about the cousins. At this point just right another book because why are you dragging it to 3000+ chapters just for the og FL and ML to become side characters.

Personally, the most meaningful interaction happens between the FL and ML when they are first starting out their relationship. FL is clearly traumatized and isn't looking to be in a relationship again but, they have a nice heart-to-heart where he ASKS her to give him a chance he isn't like her ex. It was sweet because he did say I don't know why I like you but I do and I think we should explore this relationship, don't let sh*t men stop you from being happy, and the FL mother also gives her a heart-to-heart. So I thought that was really refreshing because you don't really see that too often.
