Oh God I hate this novel so much.

First, the ML is a rapist egomaniac manipulator who will do anything, and I mean anything, to make MC his. He didn't even hesitate to hurt her in the process.

Second, A LOT of the plotlines are basically just rip-off from other Chinese contemporary novels. An inexperienced architect who was trusted with a big project, got her design stolen, had a rival who sold her design to their competitor, hmmm that sounds oddly familiar....

I feel like the author hates women.`Either they are doormats or screeching, scheming vixens. I couldn't stomach all the forced abortions, miscarriages and assaults. Song Yu is sick in the head.

The second story was 10% better in terms of treatment towards female characters. Why is it there are no women in power in the entire novel?

What's up with all the talk about aura and noble air and stuff?? Made it seem like a cultivation novel.

There's actually 5 different CPs (character pairing) within this novel. The first one is Qi Chengzhi and Song Yu from the book summary. They have I think 300 chapters. Their story tbh is my least favorite. I really don't find this kind of ML as romantic at all. Instead he comes off as stalker-ish to me. And my god it frustrates me how many times dumb girls threw themselves at him that I really almost drop this novel. The part that I did enjoyed though was when they get together... more>> with the ML's other shameless friends. Really cracks me up everytime. Also everytime Grandma Qi boast to Grandma Han. Poor Han Zhouli and his ears hahahaha!

The second pairing which is between Chengzhi's cousin sister and his assistant is much, much better and fluffier imo. Too bad they only had a few chapters dedicated for them as I would have liked to read more about their chemistry.

Third pairing is between Chengzhi's cousin brother, Qi Chenglin, and Song Yu's bestfriend, Ruan Danchen. Their story consists of about 150+ chapters. I enjoyed reading their part as well mainly because they have a smart ass little bun between them. My fave part of this family is Ruan Danchen's family. Mainly Grandpa Ruan, and her uncle Keshan who has an unlimited supply of tear glands hahaha! I was both crying and laughing with the reunion part lol.

Last but not the last; their kids' romance when they're all grown up. Qi Youxan and obviously Wei Muran. There's also Youxan's sister and her childhood friend. I didn't really read this part as I didn't want to burst my bubble and ruin my imagination of the parents growing old and baby Youxan not being his chubby, witty and adorable little self anymore.

All in all, I quite enjoyed reading this novel and Dawnesque other novels as well.

Her series the Seven Gentlemen consists of stories from the Eight Great Families which consists of Qi Chengzhi and Qi Chenglin's bffs whom in all honesty are all proudly shameless. <<less

After reading "The President is Shameless Again", I'm excited to read this book. Unfortunately, the ML here is such a jerk and manipulative. The main couple got toxic relationship.

Can't help but compare Qi Chengzhi (ML of this novel) and Yan Beicheng (ML of TPISA)... bc YB is waaaaay better than QC on how they treated their respective FLs.

FL should just chose the 2nd lead instead bc he obviously treated and care for her better.

That 3 stars is a mistake, my hand slipped. Idk how to fix it

I had to drop this novel at one point. The relationship is definitely not a healthy one, the ML will do anything to get the MC not minding hurting her, for exemple causing an accident to the car she was riding with another guy, and moooore he caused her family's bankruptcy just to break her engagement with his brother.

And what is frustrating is that the MC is SO passive ! I expected her to lash out in... more>> these situations but NO!! She is always afraid to anger him because he has such a temper.

well not to forget that the ML is kind of a stalker, he loves the MC since her pre teens while he was in college (he is 9 years older than her).

The story was decent but..

I'm only rating this for the second story of Qi Youxuan's parents, featuring Qi Youxuan. I loved how his parents both doted on him and he was a secure boy in his parents' love so he could behave as spoiled and precocious as he wanted in order to get what he wanted. I also loved how his dad teamed up with him to annoy Wei Ziqi hahaha.

3 stars because while the second story is precious in its entirety, the main story is just sh*t - made so by the ML.... more>> I hate him so much. The FL's apathy is so annoying too.

The ML destroyed the FL's family company - causing poverty and embarrassment for her family in the high society circle. Then he caused her to be publicly shamed by his cousin, where someone tossed water on her in a restaurant, another person tripped her, and she had to do a walk of shame with torn clothes to get out of the restaurant.

Yea I stopped reading then. Yan Beicheng's character made us have expectations for the rest of the seven gentlemen but they are all pretty harsh to their women (sprinkling them with pampering sometimes too to fool us). Yan Beicheng is the only one who treats his lover right from beginning to end.

I read the second book first, luckily. I recommend the second book in this novel. Not the first.

the ML isn't an angel either. He knew the FL's identity years before and that she was struggling to survive alone. Instead of approaching her and investigating her life and the whys of a certain incident, he simply ignored her existence. He doesn't even express remorse for this when she meets him again and they get married.

I admit it was my first book in the series and the ML from 'the president is being shameless again' is my favourite.

Very Sweet Love Stories ~ I enjoy reading 2 love stories in this novel.

This novel is a prequel to "The President is Being Shameless Again".
I had completed reading this novel in early October 2021, had read it thrice.

I truly love love reading the love stories between Qi Cheng Zhi & Song Yu (main couple) and between Qi Cheng Lin (QCZ's best cousin) & Ruan Dan Chen.
I enjoy reading their daily interactions & relationships.

Qi Cheng Zhi and Qi Cheng Lin are paternal cousins. Song Yu and Ruan Dan Chen are good friends.

Qi Cheng Zhi has fallen in love with Song Yu from the moment she entered this world. He has never faltered in his love, care and loyalty to Song Yu throughout his life. Fortunately, when Song Yu learns about his dedication and love to her, she reciprocates his feeling and love.
Their age difference makes their relationship more unique as they unequivocally complement each other well. They are a charming and loving couple.

Qi Cheng Lin & Ruan Dan Chen first met 7 years ago through an unfortunate circumstance. Prior to being with each other in the past, Qi Cheng Lin & Ruan Dan Chen had never had a GF & BF. After that faithful night 7 years ago: Qi Cheng Lin thought he'd be single for the rest of his life and Ruan Dan Chen who considers Qi Cheng Lin as her first true love remains single.
They finally met again indirectly because of Qi Cheng Zhi & Song Yu's relationship. Qi Cheng Lin found out that Ruan Dan Chen was the woman he had met 7 years ago. Through his dedication, love and persistency, Qi Cheng Lin wins over Ruan Dan Chen's heart and they become a very sweet and amazing couple.

Qi Cheng Zhi, Song Yu and Qi Cheng Lin are also lucky to have parents and grandparents and great childhood friends (Yan Bei Cheng and Wei Zi Lin from "The President is Being Shameless Again", to name the view) who support them warmly & loyally.

Moral of this novel: Karma works! If you're good to others, good things will come to you. If you're always doing bad things to others, bad things will come to you...

Wow was not expecting this novel to have so many 1 star reviews (based out of 37 votes as I am writing my review at this time). I read this novel before I discovered Novel Update so I didn't read any reviews before I started. I'm glad I did not because I would have not checked out this novel based on these reviews and missed out on this novel. The site I read this novel on doesn't have a section for readers to leave... more>> comments. I totally understand why many disliked this. But I thought this was written so good cuz It kept me wanting more and I was never bored cuz something crazy would happen or be revealed every time. It was like watching a tv drama series - the really dramatic ones. I really wanted more of the kids stories at the end. I was so invested in them lol. The characters are not perfect. There's a lot of crazy, a lot of drama and a lot of people you would end up hating - and it hit all the things I love in a dramatic read 😂 also although the ML is crazy I do love that he is faithfully loyal to the FL but yea he's basically obsessed with her. Like he basically imprinted her when she was a child. It reminded me of twilight when Jacob imprinted Renesmee at a young age. So if y'all are not comfortable with that type of thing I'm giving you a heads up now. Of course he doesn't do anything to the FL until she's grown but he knew very early on when FL was a child that she was the one for him. And does something f*cked up which was basically the only thing and true wtf moment I had with the ML. (Nothing physical or s*xual don't worry) he does something to her family and FL forgives him. Many of you would not agree and I mean if this was real life situation I probably won't BUT I also get why she did as that incident is also one of the events she realized just how much the ML loved her that he was crazy enough to do what he did. And she loved him already at that point.

Anyways read this if you like crazy and lots of drama and obsessive love with a HEA. The characters are all sorts of f*cked up and borderline mental maybe (ML I'm talking bout you but I also like you too 😩) That's all I gotta say and the best I can describe this novel. Can't wait to check all the other books in the series! And yea they all connect and there are also multiple couple stories told in each novel so there's like a main couple and many side couple stories if that makes sense?

Actually, it's not that bad. Yes, I agree that the plot is a bit cliche, generic, and predictable but since this is one of my favorite genre, maybe I'm a bit biased towards this story. However, I still feel complicated about this story, especially towards ML (s).

The first ML, Chengzhi, is a bit creepy. He fell in love with Song Yu since she was still a baby while he's already 9 years old. He set his mind to make Song Yu his whatever the way since he laid his eyes... more>> on her.

Not only he's a pe*vert who thought about s*x all the time, he's also so manipulative. He often made Song Yu felt guilty even though it's his own fault, not Song Yu's fault. "Love is blind" term is really suited for her.

She disregarded her own parent's feeling after the secret about the company was out and still sided with Chengzhi. She even indirectly blamed her own parent for Chengzhi's action because they forced her to engage with Chengzhi's brother in the past. What an unfilial child.

The second ML, Chengzhi's cousin brother, Chenglin, is slightly better than Chengzhi. But he's also a lustful man just like his brother who thought about s*x all the time. There were so many chapters about both Chengzhi and Chenglin's s*x life and made me slightly bored. I often skip those scenes because it got repetitive.

I'm also a bit disturbed by how the author potrayed FL's love rival. They all had the same character: brainless, shameless, and often threw themselves towards ML whenever they met. It's fine if it's only one or two of them, but if all of them had the same character, it will annoyed me greatly.

The side stories about their kids are adorable. Well, Wen Xu (Wen Ren and Fang Jiaran's son) is a bit creepy too because he already laid his eyes on Youning (Chenglin's daughter) since she was still a toodler (he's 8 years older than her btw). I'm not disturbed if only their interaction was like brother and sister. But they already kissed each other (although on the cheeks) everytime they met and Youning even loved to rub her face to Wen Xu's bare chest.

Youxuan and Muran's story is a bit out of place. Why Muran suddenly became a police officer while Youxuan became a part time criminal pshycologist? I suddenly thought that I misread Ding Mo's novel instead of Dawnesque's novel. Well, at least their love story was considered normal compared to their relatives. <<less

The cute little dumpling Qi Youxuan is the MVP of this novel! I enjoyed his parents love story (Ruan Danchen and Qi Chenglin [chapter 301-475]) more than the main love story (Song Yu and Qi Chengzhi [first 300 chapters]).... I kinda felt like the ChengYu story sort of dragged on as it used a lot of the obvious cliche plot lines found in other novels and dramas. But the plot was saved by the ensuing stories of the other Qin family members. Out of every novel I've read that involves... more>> mentally-challenged, obsessed wannabe-homewreckers, Mu Sisi takes the cup as the character who I absolutely HATE and LOATH the most.
