The story was strong, and really explored how far humans would go to "stay human" in a genetic apocalypse. While I did like the other MC, Lu Feng, he wasn't very memorable. This novel's main flaw is not offering too much insight into the thoughts of Lu Feng. His actions are explained, but it seems very straightforward in an otherwise complex and well-built universe. The characterization is very rich. The CP is not completely OP, they're flawed and struggle. For the most part, the arcs are interesting and don't require any convoluted thinking, but the last arc was very long, drawn out, and confusingly resolved. There are questions left unanswered, and I'm left not quite understanding aspects of ML. But due to getting a refreshing amount of ML perspective, enjoying both in the CP and their high levels of dogfood, and the novelty of the fact that the arcs weren't brain wrenching, the rating is still very high. Definitely a must-read for infinite flow fans! ML didn't show up often enough.. but when he does, Tawil, ah, Tawil, he's so cute. I wish we would've gotten to see more of him. The whole team was pretty rich in character. I did have to MTL a lot of it, and between the readability of that, the lack of Tawil scenes, and the league fighting middle part feeling very drawn out/long... 9/10 in final.... more>>

ML does bring the rating down from what would otherwise be 10/10, I wish he was (1) more fleshed out and (2) wouldn't kiss MC while MC is resisting.. MC is reluctant with his feelings, so the dogfood isn't very much flashed in the reader's face, I wish we could've seen his feelings deepening more! Though MC is at least able to resist and does decide that he likes ML, on his own terms, and doesn't let ML walk all over him. And ML grows just enough to respect boundaries more. <<less
