random chinese novels i read 

再入侯门: village girl gets sent back to before she's returned to her bio-fam. in her prev life, she worked hard to meet expectations but she wasn't good enough. this life, she just wants to get rich and live comfy. she was angry/saddened at the ppl of her prev life: husband for 'liking' her sis, sis for being petty, fam for being distant, her in-laws for being disappointed that MC couldn't get pregnant. she's 'chased' by three dudes: Nanping shizi (gloomy but extremely handsome), Mo San (romantic and dreamy) and Qi Yiteng/Qi Er (solemn and quiet husband). honestly, a pretty good read: a little bit of face-slapping her scheming 'sis' that was raised in her place, business as she makes money and a pretty good romance (i cried, tho i'm on my period). the two unsatisfactory ML wannabees aren't super important imo but it gives MC a semi-harem. 

许你山河万里: perhaps the angsty-est read of my life. MC has dreams from the perspective of an a woman from ancient times (most recently where she jumps off a cliff to escape from a man) and after being in a landslide, gets actually thrown into that world. she was one of the emperor's women i believe (no empress i think) years after where her dream left off. she somehow gets returned to the palace, trapped by the yandere ML. she runs away again, shiz happens, past and present connect and she's returned to her modern life just as something major occurs. will say, well-written except i think our MCs have the most toxic relationship ever.

重生之锦上青箩: i forsure finished this but i can't recall the plot AT ALL. from looking at the first few and last few chapters, this is what i've figured out. our MC, zheng qingluo is thrown back to when she was young (whats new? my interests are very simple) before she was plotted by her stepmom and sis. she's not vengeful as most MC, merely reciprocating what's been given and doesn't kill anyone for revenge i think. stuff happens, in the end, she forgives the ppl who hurt her (aka her fam) and tada!

find the novel of the girl who gets reincarnated, ex-fiance sees her skirt embroidery and decided to marry her her then she opens a clinic thats funded by the upper class furen alongside her previous mother and a elder princess. ex-fiance/this body's husband chose her bc he went to the temple to see her but only caught  a glimpse of her skirt as she saved someone (relating back to why she opened a clinic after the rebirth) this was honestly a pretty good read i think. 

我给男主当嫂嫂: MC was the fill-in for her sister who ran away from her marriage. sis gets memories of her life and returns to take MCs place as future empress. MC was then given a pity marriage to a sickly, dying man who's feared by everyone. she realizes he's her savior from years prior and dutifully stays by his side as they eventually fall in love. ML was a former dream man who got a bloodthirsty rep after being rumored to have killed his comrades. this was super sweet. this got picked up: became the male leads sister-in-law

亲妈被认回豪门后: MC and her salted fish fam returns to her mom's rich fam after finding out her mom was switched at birth. MC was the target of FL's system that took her intelligence and beauty. however, once MC completes the system tasks before FL, it harms FL instead. MC strives to do well in school in order to not lose anything to FL and it's very school life-y. it kinda got weird tho in the explanation of the system but i liked the story overall. it had humor, cute and wholesome fam, a kinda romance subplot? MC seems op until her background is more revealed. i liked how it used common 'tropes' (system, switched at birth etc) but put a spin on them.

白日梦我: MC has a tough home life. her parents were divorced and she moved in w her dad. she meets a delinquent guy who works at a tattoo parlor and keeps running into him before she sees that he's her deskmate at her new school. she deals w her personal troubles as they grow closer. the summary is a bad representation of the novel in general. the novel made me in my feels (did i cry, idk, forgot) and also laugh. took on a lot of different themes well. debated taking this on as another project but i didn't wanna have four lol. really good tho!!

things i don't wanna rate yet:

the villain's mother: it was cute & all, i would def rec reading it for an (overall) believable light read. the only thing is the little kid who's 3 but can talk better than i do sometimes LOL. i wanna see how it unfolds before rating it so this is reference for future me!

the villain and the cannon fodder's mother: i thought it was pretty intriguing so i'm hoping to finish it whenever translations are complete & i'm bored. i forsure do think this is a more 'family-focused and MC being unsurpassed & amazing' novel rather than a romance. ML imo has an inconsistent personality but all in all, i may finish this.

after transmigrating into a short-lived white moonlight...: def an engaging read, ML is crazy but so lovable but this story doesn't really delve into anything. it's more like this happens then that happens then... blahblahblah. i'm reading it for the romance tho bc i find our MCs so interesting together. will DEF come back to.

why fall in love when you can attend tsinghua uni: our MC has everyone working against her but she slowly wins them over. i find her & ML's relationship a little disturbing ngl bc he's SO MUCH older. like, he's 27 or something and she's 16. i didn't wanna judge this prematurely since it's been hardly translated and i don't know where this novel is going but i will not be coming back to this. (didn't drop it, just won't finish)

the grand princess: i love the concept and the characters so far! our MCs have both been sent into their younger selves, giving them to right the mistakes and misunderstandings of their previous life. the translator did an amazing job, so much so that i wasn't even willing to MTL to finish so that's why it was thrown into this list. i believe i left off on 27.2. also ps i love pei wenxuan <33

my wife spoils me too much: ancient girly gets sent to modern times (adapts super well considering she doesn't have memories, id be freaked if i were her). she takes over the body of an alcoholic woman who's married to a military man w a son. she wins them over w her sweetness & good cooking. i honestly quite enjoyed but i wanna see how it ends before judging. left off on chapter 58.

villainess turns over a new leaf: modern green tea girly becomes a 5yo unfavored princess. she wins over the npc's (her fam) with her acting skills. that's as far as i got bc the translations are pretty split up so it's only like 10% complete. the prisoner prince is forsure the ML it's obvious but i'm into it. left off ~c62?

matchmaker on taobao: found this pretty intruiging ngl. she almost gets run over by a car then she suddenly gets to see ppl's marriage fates. dude who almost ran her over is a bigshot ceo who is interested in her, an aspiring actress. she has a system where she can boost her acting skills and it seems pretty interesting so far. left off on c46

transmigrating into the male supporting character’s ex-wife: found this pretty enjoyable so far but i wanna finish it before adding it onto the list. she goes into a novel where's she's the wife of literally indifferent to everything lowkey ceo husband. left off on c50

things i dropped:

chu wang fei: it was fine, i felt it was really similar to smt else i read but worse. super scheme-y and face-slappy. i might pick it back up when i have literally nothing else to do.

empress with no virtue: the character/the translating was just not my cup of tea? i doubt i'll try this again but who knows, it's highly rated for a reason so third time may be the charm!

common sense of duke's daughter: i liked it, it was just soo long w/no romance and i gradually got bored. will prob pick this up again.

my disciple died yet again: i was really close to finishing, like 20-30 chs left but i was soo bored of it. doubt i'll finish just bc ik how it'll end. it was just getting too repetitive

my wife is my life: i was halfway through when i read from the translator that said it was kinda unfair that the system was dragging the ML around to the whims of the FL and it just made me not look forward to the novel. i found myself agreeing w that so i dropped it but this really was a good read up til that point!

bone painting coroner: it just kinda became repetitive and the ML chasing her was just giving me too much second hand embarrassment. i may come back to this but i doubt it

hello, wife: she's so unfeeling (which is the point, ik!) but at some point, i feel kinda bad for ML that she's not reciprocating. i got halfway before i got bored but perhaps she falls for him in the end?

what's your gender, princess: this story just seems juvenile, poorly written? no offense ofc but it just seemed to try so hard to be funny/comedic

the beautiful time with you: read hundreds of chapters on boxnovels (which had not bad translations tbh) and its just so looooong. like unnecessarily. he's finally realized that he liked her but she's so unconvincingly dense and the story just dragggs on and onnn. dropped ~c300.

demon wang's golden favorite fei: i've finally realized what i disliked about chu wang fei which also applies for this novel (& most of the other novels i dropped). the characters (mostly the antagonists) are one dimensional. they have no drive, no deep motive and feel very unrelatable and flimsy. dropped at c11.

former wife of invisible wealthy man: gotta say, was kinda interesting to read bc ML and FL are cute but i just don't get the logic behind the novel? she's afraid of the ghosts but they're described more like harmless imo, and i feel that some things just happened weirdly? idk, anyway, i got bored of it LOL. mayhaps come back when i'm bored. dropped ~ch30

i don't like the world, i only like you: the writing style was just boring. it was told through mini-stories which were cute but after a while, i sorta got bored of them. i prefer a longer story w/ a plot over this novel that was anecdotes of their lives (not that it's bad!! just not my cup of tea). dropped ~ch15

rebirth of an abandoned woman: i can see where the plot is going and i don't like it. i can just tell FL is gonna be the biggest mary sue/white lotus. i don't like the premise, ML favors his cousin over his wife (& he's so very dumb?) and i can already tell that some characters have no dimension to them. also am not a fan of the writing style, no one speaks in all '!!!!!' and it's more telling instead of showing...yawn. dropped at c10. 

seeking good temptation: honestly not that bad, it just didn't keep my interests ig? it was a lot of action w/ no telling or showing the FL's feelings or thoughts. ofc, it may be bc she literally is numb to everything (after literally 1k lifetimes!) but i just found the novel not engaging. dropped at c29.

villain daughter enjoys her seventh life...: what a long title. anyway, maybe i gave it up prematurely idk, but the unrealistic-ness and lack of dimension made me lose interest. it was also kinda hard to read but it was just all dialogue with no reasoning or characterization for everyone. dropped at c4. 

full of my love to you: same reason as 'i dont like the world, i only like you' above. maybe it's a lost in translation thing but i just don't get invested. dropped at c10.

fleeting midsummer: it wasn't bad per se, but MC felt too quirky to me. ik that's her personality but i dunno, i didn't get too interested in this novel. however, i may have dropped it prematurely so you should give it a shot if you wanna. dropped at c5.2

daily record of secretly loving the male god: this novel is super cute just really slow & i'm not in the mood for slow novels rn. things are mostly told through actions rather than words but i sometimes just want to talk abt their feelings you know? mayhaps ill come back to this. dropped at c21.1.

rice pot next door: everything in c1-2 just seemed so unbelievably coincidental that i couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. this novel is certainly quirky but i think that everything will go along the cookie-cutter novel route where everything just so happens to fall in place. yeah, i love novels where that happens but you can't defy reason just to make the impossible possible. the whole premise for c1-2 was weird too. dropped at c3.

life after marriage: i found the premise weird (who just goes 'oh, okay!' when they find out they were conned into getting married???) but i continued on. turns out, the story is still extremely off. ML has split personality that at first, switches when he takes off his glasses (but then!) he can turn it off in front of one person!! um.. what???? its not even like the glasses were magic!!! but then author gave it powers?? idunno. dropped c13.
