This a light hearted rom-com with typical love-hate storyline. This couple is like cat-and-dog! For 8 long years the female and male lead have been at each other's throats every time they met. Being a senior in entertainment circle and a popular one at that, the female lead always appear cold and distant when in fact she loves him for about a decade. The story in the beginning focuses on the FL's POV before eventually the ML's side of story.

The story is funny and the banter between them are refreshing... more>> (not annoyingly long -56 chapters only) and as they still need to maintain their image as a professional actor/actress. I swear they are 5-year-old tsunderes! Insulting each other on the front but being a stalker fan behind each other's backs.

Their days as enemy-turns-lover happens in a short time (not take long for them to solve their misunderstanding) as most of the story also revolve around their past and problems in showbiz. The best thing is their fans (even their managers & fellow actors) try to speculate their relationship but still belive they're enemies when in fact they just jokingly (?) insulting each other.

I was super excited when this was being translated. I liked the premise, 2 actors who are tsundere and secretly like each other? Sign me up!

..... Then, I actually read it.

At first, it wasn't quite so bad. It started off okay, even tho the leads were a bit flat, but that's normal for webnovels I guess.

What really turned me off is the fact that both leads act like freaking children around each other.... and they're like 28-30 yrs old. Maybe if they were younger it wouldn't be as cringe worthy... more>> but.... idk, I just can't accept it. I get they're supposed to be tsundere, but this just exaggerates it too much. Which causes the misunderstandings to get annoying, sigh.

If you're able to get past that, tho, or if the leads don't annoy you as much as they did to me, then I guess it isn't so bad. There's definitely worse stories out there, and thankfully there's no r*pey / abusive stuff in this which makes for a lighter read at least. <<less

I'm chapters away from finishing it but I had to stop because it's so hypocritical!

I didn't mind the light and easy romance between the FL and ml.. And their banterings. There were a lot sweet moments and got served a big helping of dog food.

But I drew the line here and I don't know why nobody's talking about it in the reviews..

The author wrote a couple of chapters lamenting how women are the victims of s*x scandals when FL's bff was involved. But prior to that the villainess was "defeated", when her own s*x scandal broke the net. It was ambiguous if the ML was the cause of that. But my point is, the author used that tactic but since she's a villainess, it's okay? The villainess left the industry. But when it's the FL's bff, she has the bff go on a monologue of moralities. No matter if she was a villain (had a lot of se*ual relationships and was a gold digger, she's still a person and her privacy and dignity was violated) 🤬🤬🤬

Hmm... based on very good reviews and the well-written synopsis, I decided to read this but now having a difficult time moving forward.

We already know the premise that they don't get along but why is there a need to hear that the FL and ML do not get along from everybody else? Just move on with the story already on their bantering, feud and how they resolve it!

There are so many wasted words that just goes around in circle and drags the story. The setting was not well set or... more>> described yet we're supposed to imagine the entertainment environment these two interacts in.

I might take a break here and come back to read this when I feel the need to waste time. Currently, I want to wring the author's neck and say, "get on with the story and don't dawdle!" <<less

Uwaah..! Currently at chap 36pt1, and my heart just broke that I had to do this review.. Wuwuwuwu....

Well, that just proves how I love this novel. It's actually a heart warming stories with some slight fluff and small misunderstandings due to some anxiety and etc.

It's a crush for many years after all.

Kudos to the translator!! But the story is quite lacking, they started as enemies and on the chapter 41 they became a couple and I thought the remaining chapters would be about their couple life but no, I just want to say that ah shen's ex is a big bastard.

Read it if you want time to pass by

Premise is good but really boring and draggy... some lines are indeed corny too. Recommend to read when you're passing time or waiting to fall asleep.

Characters just didn't have chemistry as well, IMO. Plus backstory seems draggy.

Cute story! Lighthearted romcom (with tiny dashes of angst) about modern day A-list actors. Pacing is good, MC and ML have great misunderstandings together. Their antics are super cute and funny, especially with the fun cast of characters around them (especially their agents). If you're tired of 'iceberg' MLs, this one is very refreshing 'frenemy'/'rival' ML. MC is awesome, she's confident, gives it back as good as she gets, not a frail/doormat FL. Love her!

Overall plot is pretty standard with some misunderstandings to spice up the romance; still it's an... more>> enjoyable read. Translation could be better. <<less

actually it should be rated 3 if you dont compare with other novels;

story is plain and it would have gotten hard to continue to read but since its short it got over soon without much boorish feeling.

characters are not well written and some parts of the story do not fit well with the plot or not described properly.

... more>> well I gave it a 4 because many other novels (so many like a million others) are much worse, and these kind of fluffy romance novels without much angst are becoming rare.

you can sit for 4 hours and binge read this if you dont have anything better to do just like I did.

edit: I forgot to mention, the online weibo posts and pda sh*t written here is unrealistic, also why the f*ck do people call actors--emperors and goddess, is it a translation problem or chinese people are f*cked up in their minds? I never followed any celebs so I think here the description about fan following is little over the top. <<less

Very cute short story, very fitting for me who takes a break between super long novels. I'm not really good in writing a review but all I can say is this story is quite good. Translation is good, the plot is very light, and I admittedly became bored reading it halfway through but I was busy so it's also my fault XD.

lol its not that cute. My thoughts on the novel are similar to the other 3 star reviews and they do a better job describing than I do. Basically:

Their interactions are at the 3rd grade level. I didn't feel compassion, or laughter or anything - just annoyed

The writing is corny : (I like funny stories like 'Why not soar your majesty', and cute stories like Gu Man's lighter romcoms, so this was a disappointment.

I started this story b/c I didn't want crazy s*upid drama with love rivals popping up... more>> every time the story slowed down. My expectation was that the writing and fluff would carry the story instead - but this just wasn't for me <<less

Read this because of the ratings and comments. The premise was kind of interesting too but it failed to live up to its hype. Tbh it's kind of dissapointing. The beginning was interesting, but then it went bland. The main characters are kind of childish. They're already grown people and they still act like that. Story telling was too fast. I was dumbfounded when I saw the word end, when the the story was getting interesting. They had a misunderstanding for 8 long years, resolved it in a few days,... more>> and then when they're about to announce their relationship, it's already the end!!! Not much fluff. It's focused on the misunderstanding really. 3/5 of the story is the couple acting tsunderes toward each other and it's annoying af. The side story about her friend Song Chen is unneeded. The author should've just added more lovey dovey chapters about the main CP. If you're looking for fluff, I recommend other stories, not this. <<less

A short yet cute novel. I was expecting more to be honest. The whole 40 something chapters were just them in their misunderstandings, pining and secretly doing things for the other- then the rest was them being a couple which is a bit tad too short.

As for ML, his love is somehow love at first sight. MC is fifteen when they first met, the novel said he's 3-4 yrs older than her, which means he's 18-19. Now, how could his love last for that long when they're always arguing?? I wish Author made it more clear. It just stated that, he first met her crying then somehow fell for her....

The dialogs are VERY VERY cringey. Had some secind hand embarrassment and I kinda skimmed over that part. Nevertheless, its a good novel for passing time.

To be honest I kinda expected more based on the title and the synopsis.. it's still pretty cute though?

Edit: I tried to reread it but MC just made me too mad, so maybe not that cute... v disappointing, this premise could've been great.

I was pretty annoyed with the MC's character for a lot of it though, she was so dependent on the ML to lead. And honestly how did ML fall in love with her??? He fell for the random girl he sat next to on the plane, and even... more>> kept tabs on her so that he was there when she ran away from home on the streets (insinuated that it wasn't a coincidence) ??????

Ngl the misunderstandings really made me annoyed. He literally did everything to prove he likes her, asks her again and again, and yet she just stubbornly clings to something she overheard 8 years ago (and she didn't even hear it properly). Are you kidding me??? The entire romance is her sitting back and him fighting for them.

I feel like too much time was spent on explaining that variety show, tbh with the translation even in the end I don't really understand what that variety show was about but I don't think it was entirely necessary to drive the story and there's other ways to go about it.. felt like a waste of time reading it almost

The story was also super suggestive of MC and ML's backgrounds but nothing was ever really said... and honestly wasn't the guy courting Song Chen creepy??? that's stalker behaviour!!!

Also lmao I feel bad for their kid haha

Overall still a decently cute story <<less

This book was a short roller coaster ride. The way the MC and ML bantered was funny and cute, but I grew frustrated a few times with how they just couldn’t go out and clear out the misunderstandings.

The thing I hated the most is that slag man- Achen’s ex (I don’t remember his name). I just felt my heart grow heavy when I got to that part- but all is well now. Just sad there aren’t face slaps lol.

Extra chapters are so cute and gives the story an extra depth.

A story about two people who secretly love each other but everytime they met, they would clash and insult each other. A cat and dog fight/ like elementary kids fight. Its a "the more you like, the more you want to bully" type of love. A love hate story because of a misunderstanding but when they finally got together... ohmy so fluffy.

The novel is pretty good, I liked the bickering between ML and fl, the humor is also good.. Not too much drama except at the end it's a little messy but everything is pretty simple plot.. One thing I really dislike about the novel is that the misunderstanding, I mean it's fine to tolerate a little bit but misunderstanding for 8years is not cool and they never confess what they feel! But other than that it's good

Overall cute and simple but the misunderstanding trope can be annoying. You get a lot of dog food. The end of the story seemed random. FL helps her friend with their "scandal" and they talk about the struggles of the entertainment industry. It wouldn't have made a difference if you took that part out.

Was the novel predictable and somewhat lame? Yes. Was it sweet and did I like it anyways? Also yes. This novel wasn't as funny as the synopsis made it out to be, and was instead FL and ML sniping at each other plus some very mild tension and conflict that wasn't even remotely angsty. There was an initial coincidental misunderstanding (that thankfully wasn't very absurd) that made them both think that the other didn't like them, and so both of them snipped at each other as a form of self... more>> protection plus an interaction method. They were never overly harsh, and in fact, their interaction could practically count as coquettish flirty "insults" if you didn't know the context that they were supposed to be "enemies". Overall, pretty cute and relatively short novel. Highly recommend for a good casual fluffy read. <<less
