This wasn't exactly a bad novel by any means, but there were some things that just didn't feel right. The following spoiler stuff includes big spoilers for the story so don't read it unless you don't have plans on actually reading the novel. If you don't want to read it, just know that in my personal opinion, the male lead is not a prince charming, nor a "sexy cold stone CEO". He's one of those arrogant young masters who are usually the villains in every other novel.

Spoiler

Why did the male lead suddenly fall for the main character? Her legs?... Really? Well, alright.. but why did he almost instantly become obsessed with her? It felt like there was going to be reveal where in the past without knowing him, she treated him really nicely or something and he's always remembered it. I know not all stories need something like that, but the way he acted almost implied that. It just made things kind of never connect, leaving an odd taste in my mouth towards the relationship.

The more important reason I didn't really like this story was because the male lead is kind of a h**ny a**hole. Every other thing out of his mouth was how he wanted to sleep with her, and then proceeded to. However it wasn't done well. He just came off as a s*x starved pe*vert who only wanted her for her body.

Also, he shuts down a movie role she worked her to get because there were "intimate scenes" in it. She gets mad because he doesn't respect her and her career and he rightly apologizes. You think he'd learn, right? No.. Later on when she's gone for five days due to a movie shoot, he suddenly flies/drives over there and sees the director yelling at her (and rightly so due to her nervous/poor acting at the time) and in turn yells at the director, telling him not to yell at the main character in front of all of her coworkers. How is that in any way respectful to her career? Yet does she even get upset this time? Not even remotely. Ermm.. ok? He then goes on to tell her to act like a completely different person when she meets his parents, more elegant and restrained. So.. you're basically telling her not to act like herself in order to please your stuffy pretentious parents. She of course screws up and he's actually upset with her until some s*upid thing happens and it's not brought up again.

All in all, he never changes his ways of completely controlling every aspect of her life, whether it comes to secretly setting up the movie deal she becomes famous for or trying to convince her to just stop working and let him pay for everything. I mean, I'm sure a lot of people in reality would love to be in a relationship like that, but this is a story about a girl who was more or less abandoned by her family and worked hard on her own. In the end it just left a bad taste in my mouth

I don't know why 8 people decided this deserved a 1 star review. The translation is on point, there's an actual plot and the shyness of Pei Ying and her unintentional humorous actions are adorable. Honestly, some people just can't tell quality plot and translations from shoddy ones anymore : (

If you were hesitating about reading this because of the ratings, I'd say give it a try and determine the quality for yourself :)

I personally love these types of stories and the non-machine translated lines flow beautifully. ^_^

I was holding on until the end because I wanted to find out if there's a backstory for the whirlwind romance. Especially for ML, but I was mightily disappointed.

They fell in love so suddenly, and by MLs level of obsession with FL, I was thinking he might have seen her before, but alas, I guess the story must be taken at face value.

I have no problem with cheesy romance, but I can't get behind a romance without fundamentals. First off, what did they liked about each other, personality-wise,... more>> because looks are given? I understand why ML would've fallen for FL later because of her personality but what about at the start? And what about ML that FL liked, really, aside from his looks?

There was a little character development and it was barely noticeable.

The plot was paper thin, especially the 2nd half. It felt like the author just wanted to dump us the fantasy and grandeur of celebrity life. Even glorifying stalking, invasion of privacy, and escort servicing. Major no, no.

But the translation was well-done. <<less

I really like this novel. It was cute, charming, funny. The female lead is not s*upid, sometime her inner self is so funny. At least I can feel as if I was her, it was quite realistic. The mal lead... how should I say it... He is a gentleman, but... Each time he was a gentleman I can't keep myself from thinking "a wolf in a sheep cloth" even if there is not even a sentence who said so.

Anyway, a good novel to spend time with. Thank to the translator!

Oh its such a fluffy story. Looking at the title firstly I thought it would be those kind of get hooked and then being deceive by the male lead type of story. Thank god its not. The guy seem cool at the beginning but became rather ordinary flirty naughty guy after eaten the girl.. Haha..n the girl looks naive at first but as far as I've read on chapter 37 she came to be someone sensible, hardworking and cool. Overall its a fluffy romance n me love it!!! Oh n... more>> since I'm also a translator I know how hard is it to choose the right words to describe the author meaning in English. So thumbs up for the job well done. You have worked hard. <<less

The translation is smooth, the story is ridiculously cute in my opinion. Rather than that it's that it is definitly something fit for the 'Romance'/'Josei' _ (:3」∠) _
And furthermore - It. Is. Getting hot in here! (T▽t)

Although full of fluff and it's a good overall lighthearted and relatively without a lot of drama story, the male lead is a bit of a turn off. He comes off as a gentleman, of course once he gets into the MC's pants, his personality takes a shift where he becomes shameless which I'm honestly fine with, but when a male lead has an overly sexually orientated mindset in a relationship it isn't endearing at all. From a certain standpoint their relationship can be seen as cute, but's he's really... more>> too overbearing where he pretty much forces all his decisions onto her. On the MC's side of things, while she was initially overly infatuated with the guy, her affection somewhat seemed to not reach a level where a girl supposedly in love would be at once they entered the relationship. In all honesty their relationship moved at too fast a pace, but with romance novels its nothing surprising, We're never even informed as to why or how the male lead fell in love with the MC, it literally just happened. Story doesn't have many flaws, but certain things caused me slight displeasure such as what I mentioned above. Definitely by no means a bad, quite enjoyed a majority of it, but what story doesn't receive a few complaints? <<less

I feel this shows some promise. Even with only having 4 chapters translated, you can tell that the story is well done, the characters don't have the lack of common sense that most Chinese/Korean LN tend to have. The main character has her head screwed on right and she has upright morals and a sense of self that doesn't seem to be easily swayed. That is something I like in a light novel. The atmosphere of the story seems to be very soothing and laid back without lacking motivation, the... more>> main character goes with the flow where ever it pulls her and completes what's in front of her without any unneeded drama. It's very refreshing to say the least. I look forwards to seeing where this novel is heading and hope the author doesn't disappoint! <<less

While enjoyable, this story is also kind of boring. The MC faces no serious problems or challenges. Everything seems to come super easy for her. The storyline is so fluffy that I ended up skimming a lot of the time. The ML is also a bit too perfect.

It's a cute story with a sweet and naive but generic female lead instantly falls under the charms of a rich and charismatic CEO. While the female lead's personality is likeable enough, it's the male lead who intrigues me since you never really know what he's thinking, and I'm still not fully convinced she wasn't just taken for a ride and setting herself up for heartbreak. The smooth way he slips into her heart, it's clear he's a player with more than his share of experience. While there's no doubt... more>> he would treat her well as long as he's still interested, the question is, how long would he still be interested? (To be fair he seems like the type to still be civil to an ex after he's over them, but lacks experience in any real/emotionally invested relationships.)

Fortunately for the female lead, it didn't really go down that path. Though it still felt as though the numerous interruptions and the fact that their relationship stumbled a bit before he had his fill, allowed them to interact enough for him to genuinely fall, and subtly transition from lust to love without the female lead being any wiser. Overall it's a nice story, though the relationship lacked enough depth to show the male lead's affections until a lot later, and the female lead didn't put up much of a struggle, despite the 'proceed with caution' vibes. To her credit, she did stand up for herself when she needed to. <<less

Coming from Chesnut, this is rather disappointing. It's light hearted and quite okay to past time, but if you change the name of characters, it quickly becomes another novel. What I mean is this has no particular thing that makes it distinct/standing out on the genre. Remind you, the story being fluff doesn't mean that the writer is free from responsibility to bring novelty.

No matter what genre, a writer still needs to give impression such as 'only this writer can write something like that', or 'that kind of story is... more>> this writer's speciality', or at least, 'the story is so common but this writer can make it fresh'. Does this story give such impression? No. I think any other writer can produce same story with same quality as this (Sorry, Chesnut! But there is evidence that you can do much better).

Spoiler

1. Plot? What plot!

The main plot here is rather simple. A rich handsome CEO and unknown actress fall in love at first meeting and become lovers after two or three dates later. During the process, the actress is gaining fame.

The subplots exist but are just touching the surface. For example, ML's Dad opposes the marriage but he quickly lets it go because ML never listens to him anyway.

And there's Yu Kaize, the Universe's prince, who likes to flirt with MC. MC suspects it's not because he is genuinely interested in her, but only God knows the real reason behind his behaviour. No further explanation.

And there's TaoTao too. She is warm to MC on the front, but badmouthing MC on the back, but actually never has worth-to-mention conflict with MC. I dont understand why such subplot appear on the first place, like, is it just to extend the length of chapters?

[collapse]

Spoiler

2. Almost nonexisting character development

Reading a story bears the same expectation as peeling an onion. It's expected to have layer after layer. In this story though, what you get from the first 15 chapters has covered 90% of character development.

There's once a disagreement between MC and ML, in which ML promises to respect her opinion and not to be overbearing anymore. However, in my eyes, his promise is only lip service. He is still like 'Let's meet my parents' instead of 'Are you ready to meet my parents?'

MC does change a little. From pure and innocent into more shameless. The question is, is this change a good change?

[collapse]

Spoiler

3. Straightforward narration

Metaphors, similes, idioms, proverbsーthere are so many writing techniques that can enrich a narration, but most of the time Chestnut just goes with simple description such as, 'she smiled', 'she chuckled', etc. It's not really wrong for a narration to be this straightforward. However, a if the narration is like this the entire time, it hints that the writer is not rich in vocabularies and expressions. Fiction is a form of art. So it will be better if the narration can be a little bit more artistic, for example by using more metaphor or simile or such.

[collapse]

This is my honest, personal opinion, which is not meant to discourage future reader, but rather I want to give some kind of feedback to the writer (although s/he may not read this). So dont feel discouraged just yet. You may enjoy things what I find lacking. <<less

This story is readable but completely s*upid, you'll need to switch off 95% of your brain cells to tolerate it, some of the fluffy nonsense.... And why oh why is it that the novel makes it seem like seggs is something disgusting and worried that women never want to do and must be forced to do by men? if that was the case wouldn't we all be extinct by now? why is seggs such a big industry and por-n is like everywhere! this is so ridiculous, why is she... more>> with him then if its such a bad thing to be intimate with him- I dont know if its a male fantasy for women to hate s*x and need to be coaxed, dominated or forced every time- how boring and tedious would that be? total unrealistic and when she is embarrassed to see his body or show herself after every time they have seggs does that even make sense? he literary left marks on every part of her body (according to the writer) so what is there left to be embarrassed about... complete nonsense, almost think she's ret*rded in some way. <<less

I thought I won't like it because of some comments I've read but I'm glad I trusted that 1 comment who said to give it a try. 🙏🙏 I don't know what other people here are complaining about how there's no background story why the ML loves the FL so much, what kind of complicated reason you want before you can acknowledge their love? Falling in love doesn't need to be complicated. So what if the ML is a leg man and that's why he became attracted with the FL? As long as these attractions developed to sincere feelings so what of it? Can somebody honestly say that if they're faced with their ideal type in front of them they won't be attracted at all?

I love how the ML lives up with the "over bearing" CEO and I love how the FL is not a softie and stands on her ground until the ML realises what he's done wrong.
Spoiler

He's an ass for rejecting FL's project because of an intimate scene but that perfectly fits with his character. And most importantly he learned from this and he also exerted a good amount of effort before the FL forgave him.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Also, the comments about the ML interrupting the FL's shoot and yelled on the director. I think that's actually very much needed. I actually felt bad that the actors and crew already knew that the director had a bad mood and picking on FL but nobody stood up for her until the ML came.

[collapse]

If you want a light, fluffy and funny read, then go ahead with this.

My only compliant is that we don't get a smut version. 😔
Spoiler

They've done it more than I could count and we don't get to read even 1 proper smut chapter! Not even an extra or special chapter! 😤

No high reasons for this romance between ML and FL.

ML fell in love with FL's legs I suppose.

FL fell in love with his kindness and gentle stuff.

... more>> P.S Bed scene, it is, not detailed, (only, ML kisses FL, she moans, ew and then next day at ML's house) and they did it before CONFESSING, MARRIAGE, really?

ML just lusting over FL. FL just loving ML with 0 rationality.

Besides, FL's friend, really Normal IQ, knowing that ML is just a patient s*xual beast.

A good day, hope we won't find that much of 2d characters with no morals. <<less

Aside from that, there aren’t any real problems and little plot, a setup that semi works with the almost short format. The MC is funny, the idea is funny, some of the jokes are (almost) funny, but the male lead is a possessive h**ny as*hole who likes her for her long legs and only wants s*x.

All in all, it’s comparatively better than some other Chinese novels I’ve read (key word comparatively). I have enjoyed some of this authors other works, especially at the beginning of the stories and the fluffy like feel of them, but this one was just a disappointment.

Probably not worth your time. <<less

The title is really misleading. I originally had some worries about reading this, since I thought the MC was going to be a naive girl who became the target of a playboy CEO. The truth is really far from that.

I loved the MC because of her personality. She was very practical and level-headed, not letting "anti-fans" and jealous rivals get to her. She also works really hard practicing her acting skills. The love interest isn't really as shameless as depicted in the summary. He actually does properly woo her. He's... more>> only shameless after they become a couple. (Actually, that's one of the flaws of this novel.) While it was quite humorous to see how much of a horndog Song Nachaun was, it got tiring near the end. It's great that they seemed to have a really enjoyable s*x life. But a reader can only stomach so many fade to black s*x scenes. I prefer romantic and sweet moments over "sexy" ones.

The sides characters were really well written, which comes as no surprise, seeing how they are from the author's other novels! I was shocked when I realized that. Now I'll have to go and binge on those too!

I only have the side stories left to finish, but I'm really glad to have stumbled upon this super adorable love story. It's low angst, so don't expect a lot of ridiculous drama. It perfectly depicts the developing relationship between Pei Ying and Song Nachaun. I love how Pei Ying didn't roll over like a dog and met Song Nachaun's dominance with her own's. <<less

Translation was great. First half (quarter?) of book was great. This started well. However, spineless MCs are not my thing.

If this had ended after ML’s really awful, awful, awful betrayal of trust while she went on to a good life, I would have completely applauded. (And given 5 stars). If there had to be a romance element, it could have been the npc ‘film Emperor.’ Or even the paparazzi who saved her.

For me what did it was ... more>> ML pulls strings to remove her from the movie she busted her ass off to get. Because he didn’t approve of intimate scenes. She left him -yes! However. The “getting back together” is where he basically sexually assaults her. Offers a ‘sorry’ when she tries to push him away.

And then! She agrees what he decided to do aligned with her own beliefs. So let’s papapa because taking away her choices unilaterally, and mol*sting her is 100% 👍. [\Spoiler]

Also, the advice from her BFF was 100% tr*sh. People, call ME for advice, ok? I will not advise you to sell yourself out for someone who doesn’t respect you. I’ll hand over the bottle of tequila I’m saving for you and troll that MF.

Also, as a westerner who doesn’t know the Chinese penal system. If you’re being stalked by a s*xual offender (not the ML) and ask the police for help will they just brush you off? There was a known s*x offender in the neighborhood - who the cops saw following her - and they’re like, ‘Nope, can’t do anything. Move along.’

Just my two cents. <<less

It's cute... but I didn't like it that much.

First : there's actually not much happening. You don't know why but CEO Song is just immediately in love with the female lead. No previous meeting, no real conversation, nothing. At some point, it even felt like he loved her only because she was attracting. They then almost immediately get together but again, not much happening. One fight, one reconciliation, and then we just see them remaining together. No external relationship, not much about their friends, no real event.

Second : I thought... more>> the two main characters lacked substance. He's the usual handsome, intimidating CEO, she's the usual pretty and kind girl. That's about it. Moreover, as I said, I don't even see how or why they fell in love since they got almost immediately together and I felt like it was only a physical attraction. Moreover, CEO Song sometimes felt too domineering and that was a bit annoying.

Three : there was actually one thing happening in the story that really pissed me off. Towards the end of the story, when they're about to get married and she meets his parents, his brother gets her drunk and so she embarrasses herself in front of her future in-laws. Because of that, her future father-in-law has a bad opinion of her and CEO Song is kinda angry. Later, the brother says on a a laughing tone he wanted « to reveal her true character in front of their parents » and it is also revealed CEO Sobg has once caused one of his breakup. So basically, he thought it'd be fun to ruin his brother's relationship to get it even and to humiliate his girlfriend.

Uh, seriously ? His brother obviously has no problem to humiliate others, make fun of them, including his bro's girlfriend (and I'm not even sure he really wanted revenge, I think he saw it as teasing his brother and found this fun)... and the author lets it go like that ? Moreover, it seemed the ML was more angry at the FL than his dumbass brother. I get that she did a mistake but everyone do mistakes, moreover, it was his brother's plotting.
i was actually angry because there was no apology, no consequence for the male lead's brother even though he clearly had been really disrespectful, had almost ruined his brother's relationship and had mocked some stranger, and all of that, for fun. It felt like there was actually not much respect for the female lead or her relationship but no one gave a sh*t about this, not even the author. A spoiled brat/dumbass got away and didn't even apologize but whatever.

So, it conforted me into thinking that this story actually really lacked substance. It felt like the author wanted only to write about a handsome man and a pretty girls having sweet scenes together and she only added the rest to be able to publish it <<less
