After searching the English title on Novelupdates for so long, I have finally found it. This is the literally the cutest novel ever, so much sugar I'm ready to get diabetes. It has no excess plots or annoying a** side characters, love rivals are dealt swiftly and never to be seen again. I loved reading the main couple's childhood together and how they developed feelings for each other. This is not a whabam!


I'm in love with you story, this actually has character development and the main couple learn from their mistakes and grow together. It's side characters even have sweet love stories of their own, the main girl's family is love each other very much and unlike the majority of chinese historical novels, the parents actually love all of their kids. Best of all, everything goes very smoothly, I find myself very annoyed when reading these kinds of novels where problems after problems keep piling up and up, especially with the ones with princes. But all the problems in this novel are solved very quickly and with no doubt, it is a very happy novel with not many awful things that happen.

Summary: Xie Zhen and Li Yu are neighbours in their childhood. Xie Zhen is an energetic girl while Li Yu is a serious boy. Li Yu is an introvert but Xie Zhen always keeps pestering him. Li Yu's past catches up to him, causing him and Xie Zhen to be separated. Time had pass, and the two of them met each other again but this time Xie Zhen can't remember Li Yu but he for these past years had never forgotten her. Now, Li Yu is... more>> the one pestering Xie Zhen. Will they meet half way?

Comments: This is a good novel. If you like Chongfei Manual you will also like this. The story is not drag. It will always gave you satisfactory result. It is not boring but at the same time will not make feel the hype in each chapter. That is why for me it is a good novel... you know... It is not the "best", not "better", but "good".

Romance: I actually like Zhong Shang and Xie Xun's (side characters) love story than the main character. The love story of the main character is about two childhood friend that meet again and falls in love with each other again (since they're already like each other when they were kids). For me that is a typical plot love story although their sweet moment will warm your heart. But the story of Zhong Shang and Xie Xun is different from the "normal" CLN. Zhong Shang is a debauchee but because of his father forcing him to enter the military he became mature and deviate from his former acts. Xie Xun is protected and loved since childhood so she grows being gentle kind and innocent. When a boorish man meets a gentle woman. I just love their story their moments just makes you scream "kyaaahhh!!!".

Characters: The manners of the characters is realistic. When you put yourself in their shoes, you will think "Oh!, well I think I will also do the same" (well not to all though). That is how realistic it is. The pro side characters are just lovable specially Zhong Shang and Xie Zhen (my bias ;D). The con side characters are just hateful (true to their use) but not too much that you will feel frustrated and wanted to stab your computer. You will also see in the story that the characters behaviour changed for the better (more mature). When you get to that point you will feel proud like a mother because you read their story from childhood. <<less

I think the translation quality is what made this story really hard to enjoy. The story was already wack but the translation just made it worse. I mean, to not even get pronouns correct, it really shows how lazy the translation was. You can tell how the recent translation team used Google Translate and didn't even bother to go over it. Even when readers notified them where the mistakes were, they still didn't fix them.

Such a shame, the story was really good in the beginning. But things went downhill really... more>> quick. Only saving grace was the side characters and their stories, for me. <<less

This story had so much potential. The first bit was exciting and extremely cute. However, soon the translations went from good to bad, and the story also took a turn for the worst.

Everything I liked about the FL as a child was replaced by a petty, shortsighted, jealous and privileged teenage girl who was only concerned about herself and when necessary her immediate family such as her siblings, mother and father. I think the author was trying too hard to make every one of her actions seem cute, however, it... more>> came off as spoiled and petulant. She was so annoying I could not even finish the story. I'm dropping this at ch 89, even though I hate to drop any story that I pick up, but I've put up with it long enough with the annoying FL and extremely bad translations.

Another thing that was extremely cringy was the age of the protagonists. I kind of felt like I was reading a semi-pedo story. Going into the story I thought we would have an age progression where at least the leads would be older than 18, however, at ch 89 we have the leads consummating their marriage at age 16 and 17 respectively. Anyone trying to tell me this story is realistic for the time period, I don't care. I'm reading this in 2019 and expect certain standards for romance novels. I don't need to read about a pubescent kids romance. There are plenty of historical romance novels other than this that deal with age progression and don't have leads going into smexy mode entering teenagehood. Even until they consummated I thought the author was going to do a time jump and deal with the smexy issues after, but no, it hit smack at ch 89 and so I am done with this novel.

I would advise the translations team to please at least proofread their work. You are already putting in an effort to translate, proofing your work shouldn't take too much extra work but would result in a much better translation. Some of the biggest mistakes I constantly was frustrated by were improper pronouns used. It's such an easy fix that I was wringing my head when I read 'he' constantly when it should have been a 'she' or vice-versa. <<less

The story caught my interests very quickly, as it was very entertaining and amusing to read. Unfortunately, like many other frustrated readers, the translation quality isn’t up to par with the story. I feel like the translator just went to a random Machine Translation web site, copy pasted the raws and put it on their website. I mean how can you randomly switch between “he” and “she” when talking about the same person, how can you not notice when many words repeat themselves in a row (“many many..”) without making... more>> heads or tails ?

I originally had in mind to become their editor or proofreader but while my standards aren’t very high, I refuse to edit someone who doesn’t care about their translation. Also thought about posting the edited version on another website but that would be morally incorrect. I’m really frustrated about their lack of motivation to at least allow readers to have a minimum of confort. <<less

At first, I highly anticipated the update because the bun-buns were so freaking cute.

It was childish and understandable.

Yet, the ML became yandere, the FL is still childish to the point where it was ridiculous. I get that she married young, but please... the way the author motion her, is just... argh. Also, both of them are just as nonsense as the whatever s*upid antagonist that come and goes in the plot like cookies.

Also, the persistent I-still-love-her-eventhough-she's-married love rival.

No, just no.

Also, the I-like-her-so-she-must-like-me-too-just-because-we-meet-a-few-times kind of love.

It was very adorable when they were children and I was happy to see them meet again after so many years but the FL is so annoying now, when the ML raises his voice just a little she complains and asks why he's shouting at her. She doesn't really make it clear to her chieldhood friend who is obviously in love with her and still kinda hangs out with him even though she is married. She also doesn't seem to be grateful to the ML for helping her get out... more>> of being the Crown Prince's concubine and acts like a spoilt brat then goes running back to her parents house which is honestly pathetic. The ML is the only one that seems to be trying to improve their relationship and it's making me feel bad for him. I'm dropping this novel, it's just starting to get annoying and it doesn't seem to be improving either. <<less

I like this novel remind me of chongfei manual. Both MC are similar and honest. Great funny fluffy adorable romance that hooked you in.

i lost interesting because of love triangle. I feel sad and crying for second male lead who give everything for MC. In end he die by protected MC. Honestly he deserved to be main male lead and marry MC. He is my fav characters.

The story itself is really cute. The characters are adorable and I've always been a fan of childhood sweetheart stories.

My biggest problem lies in the translation. The pronouns are always mixed - like the He should be a She, vice versa. Other than that, it has enough fluff to keep me reading.

the romance and how the female lead and the male lead ended up getting married wasnt a romantic event but a forced one. The second male lead got a terrible ending despite being a better person in every way than the male lead. He respected her, cherished her reputation and saved her from time to time when the Male lead was away. Not only that, the romance for the female lead's little sister was basically a pe*ophile getting his way. He manipulated her when she was young not knowing bout romance or love, stalk her and acting like she was his possession, lie to her using his sister name to lure her, manipulated her, violated her (forcing kisses and touched) behind her parent back. In the end even his parent used a shameful tactic to guilt trip her mother into giving him the marriage.

Pretty mediocre. At first I was hooked, but it gets boring after 20-30 chapters when the main couple gets together. And the translator needs an editor because it's kinda hard to read when the pronouns are swapped for the majority of the time (like always using 'he' when it's the girl talking).

I really loved the beginning of this! The story was super cute and their relationship was believable. The everyday life descriptions weren't boring and their story was super sweet... but the second half of the story wasn't as good for me.

Everything that I liked and the ML liked about the FL seemed lost during the second half of the story and I was so disappointed. Her energetic and outgoing personality which was the reason for their connection together became drained and she become easily jealous and quiet. I liked that the ML seemed to be more resolute but the FL personality changed too much. I would've given this a higher rating if this hadn't happened but honestly the second half made me bummed.

One of Best novel that don't have overdramatic and scheming. It's good novel that make you yearning for more chapters. I like MC she remind me of Ah Lou from Chongfei Manual.

I love this novel very much. I highly recommend everyone to read this beautiful novel that hooked you up in few chapters.

Not my cup of tea, it was at this point I found out that this was written by the author of Chongfei Manual (no wonder there's s3gs allusions even if they were just kids ugh).

It was quite enjoyable when they were young hence the 2. I am always a fan of childish interaction but I really don't like love triangles (should have read the tags orz) esp.

love triangles involving brothers. I dropped this when the ML's brother dreamt of his "beloved" girl (FL) while he felt lonely because his marriage is not out of love. He felt a twinge when he saw a couple's sweet interaction when they bade each other goodbye. I mean, wtf author. What do you mean when you wrote this line? Do you want this side MC to feel this emotion with the FL who he's not supposed to end up with? *Vomit*

So that made me roll my eyes. I hate reading FLs that has everyone falling head over heels for her and she's just 14 at this point. As much as I made myself believe that ancient people mature quicker, it just didn't sit right with me.

Edited review: It's a cute story with a lot of fluff. I think the 1-2 star ratings came from the MTL translations posted here before. I remember this novel was completed before on NU but translations were crappy and removed. I think it was Babel Realm who did the awful MTL which made me drop the series.

I liked Chongfei Manual from the same author more. But this was still pretty good. GaoXun was so sweet and I feel he loved her more than YanYu. I really don't get why she would like YanYu more. At the beginning especially, he was proud and awkward.

I thought it was funny how a certain character thought GX was a pe*o for liking Xie Xun, but later fell for her himself!

I also wish we had more of Xie Rong's love story. I quite liked this solemn, but patient and protective... more>> older brother of mc's and would've like to see him as a doting husband. <<less
