My preference: Meandering slow-burn novels like Mao Ni's stuff get extra points. Harem/romance/face-slapping power fantasies get minus points. Completed novels get bonus points, and terrible endings get points knocked off. Also plus points for character building friends/family/enemies and down points for solo yolo.

I know many people say that there are no good novels on this site, and it oftens feels like the top lists are filled with overpowered MC's, undeveloped harems, 2D characters, and lacking plots.

There are some novels that stand out, however, whether that be for their plots, characters, or translations.

This is a list for my personal 1%. It is ranked in order. <<less

- I eat anything no romance, straight, BL, GL. As long as it is good story why not? I ship anyone as long it is cute!

- The MC is I think funny, decent, or good. The side character is not too flat. I avoided pe*vert protag, aiming for harem is a big no, especially slaving someone for pe*vert desire is a no go.

- Story is good, I prefer slow paced, or while MC is gone world still continuing not revolving MC.

- I prefer slow paced romance or romance as sub-plot, or no romance at all, If its twisted but interesting I will add it. If its healthy relationship I will add it too. Yandere or Possesive character is good if its been used well?

- I will give short description each novel (beware of spoiler), and what I think about it.

Over the years of reading I've developed a lot of pet peeves in regards to Chinese, Korean, and Japanese novels. From Japanese comedy, Japanese character archetypes, never-ending arrogant young masters, to harems in general; I've grown completely sick of many things. These are the ones that have managed to avoid (or managed to use well) the large amount of things I've grown to despise and are what I believe are among the best. I am sure there are different reasons for this development. And without a doubt one of them is a female readers' activity. What I mean is that they are much more active and generous in rating, comment section, lists. etc. If you are looking for proof you can try sorting all the novels by rating and here you will mostly see yaoi, shounen-ai, josei, shoujo, romance. Also, many other novels can't escape their influence. I mean, nobody said that they can't enjoy popular seinen novels, right? I am not saying that it's something bad or trying to stop them, but as a normal, straight guy, I can't enjoy the situation either.

So here comes my personal, manlier than even me, top of the novels I've enjoyed reading!

I can't really describe myself as a picky reader, but I have to spend quite a lot of time looking for something that satisfy my preferences. Which are mainly: 

1. No wimp/beta protagonist. (Life is hard as it is. I see no reason to read about someone's indecisiveness and useless tears.)

2. Protagonist with at least average level of intellegence. Otherwise it's too annoying to read.

3. As a litrpg genre fan i've got a soft spot for stories with different kinds of systems.

Roughly sorted from best to weaker Novels (in my opinion). I also try to add descriptions to every Novel I can, if I can think of something to say that isn't already in the synopsis, they might contain minor spoilers though.

I'd like to add two more Novels here that I am reading but aren't listed here because they are Original Works from "Webnovel . com": "World Domination System" and "The Mech Touch". Both are pretty decent and are worth a look. <<less
