Transmigrated as the Cannon Fodder Abandoned by the Movie Star

Description

Links are NOT allowed. Format your description nicely so people can easily read them. Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.

Gu Qingchi transmigrated into an insignificant cannon fodder. The author didn’t set any of the details of the cannon fodder’s character settings, so everything was randomly generated.

Then, somehow, he ended up becoming the most beautiful person in the entire novel.

However, it didn’t matter. As a cannon fodder with two sentences in the book i.e. Marriage & Divorce, he is unable to leave the barest trace in the world till the divorce! His existence was forgotten & he was left completely isolated.

Gorgeous beyond measure, after finishing the cannon fodder storyline, Gu Qingchi could debut by relying on his face alone.

When the well-known movie star’s love affair was exposed, his fans were furious and ready to take this guy down, but ended up being captivated by his beauty.

I'm a bit conflicted about this story because I feel like the plot had a huge setup potentially going other places, but it just petered out.

When the MC woke inside this very surreal world where nothing he interacted with would make a mark, it was a pretty intense and dark (ish) setup. I expected the author to utilize this intense background to some effect in the future, but it's never brought up again.

Spoiler

Instead, everything that happened in the beginning is wrapped up with a crazy line that the "god" of the universe fell in love with the MC and caused it all to happen... uh yeah, very deux-ex-machina.

[collapse]

When the MC woke up super top most beautiful person on the planet, his appearance was such a cheat that I thought there was no way it was his original body... and the author gave an impression with the "2 years imprisonment" etc. that there were bigger things stirring underneath the surface.

Unfortunately not.

Cue a majority plot of mostly fluff and tons of filler of netizens and everyone emphasizing the MC's beautiful face over and over again ad nauseum for the majority of the novel. Maybe the author had high hopes for this novel? Maybe they intended to write something more mysterious, but in the end, it turned out to be your standard acting/celebrity novel except with a traumatized but super beautiful protagonist.

The author rescued some of this absurdity with a rather realistic portrayal of

Spoiler

depression, getting help, su*cide attempts, medication, recovery, etc.

I REALLY liked that the depressed MC couldn't find it in him to return the ML's feelings and had to get a lot more help before he recovered. No bullsh*t of "power of love" curing depression and medication/psych/counseling is treated respect instead of disdain.

You don't know how unwoke China tends to be around issues of depression... so big kudos to author for making it realistic.

[collapse]

But the pacing of the story absolutely fell down the drain as a result.

This story would have been 10, 000x stronger if the author hadn't started off with the
Spoiler

system transmigration, physical objects phasing out from the MC's sphere of influence, horror-like torture the MC suffered through as if it was truly a fictional world erased from existence, dark vibes.

Author could have used normal "transmigration" like rebirth, kept the amnesia, and just had the MC suffer (MC could have still gotten all the same after-effects without such extreme experiences) in the beginning before getting out of the place. Even a kidnapping could have given the same effect.

Then the reader wouldn't have been waiting for a non-existent shoe to drop throughout the plot.

The fact that the ML supposedly is some kind of god of the universe is very very very very very bad wrap-up to put in the epilogue.

[collapse]

The translation was really good. The story was a good read overall if you like celebrity/showbiz novels, just... don't put too much stock in the beginning and don't get your hopes up for something more mysterious filled with intrigue or epic plot twists. <<less

It's hard to describe this novel but all I can say is that it was definitely worth my time. I love how the story is paced so that it's not too fast nor too slow. It wouldn't make much sense if the MC and ML got together at the start since they both have their own issues to resolve.

I also love how the author portrayed the MC during his depressive moods. It felt very realistic unlike some other novels. I think this also made it much more relatable because I... more>> SOBBED during those scenes. I want to wrap my baby in soft blankets and cure him completely but obviously depression is really a long fight that the MC have to go through. I'm just glad that he will have the ML and his family, friends and fans by his side to support him.

Lastly, I just want to say that I really cannot hate the ML. Technically the 2yrs was all part of the plot. But then, it is also clear that he was forced into this arranged marriage. A marriage that he only knew about after it was acknowledged by the civil bureau. He was not introduced to his so called husband and he did not even know him beforehand. With that, I think providing a house and an unlimited amount money for his so called husband is already him being kind and generous. Though I understand that people can be mad at the fact that he ignored the MCs messages for 2yrs because I was kinda pissed too. But then again, since this is an arranged marriage and they don't even know each other, it also seems that they don't really have to get to know each other and won't have to contact each other right? Afterall the ML did do his 'part' by providing a place to live and money to spend. So in the end, no matter how much I felt sorry for the MC, I really cannot blame and hate the ML alot. Though him not responding to the MCs messages throughout the 2yrs caused the MC to slowly shut himself out, in the end it was the plot that caused it. Soooooo idk man. Conflicted.

But all in all, it was a great read. Highly recommended because although theres angst, the fluff was pretty good too :> Did not regret reading this although I hesistated due to the reviews saying that it was sad. It sure was sad. I cried multiple times. But alls good. I survived till the end! <<less

MC doesn't become superstar or movie emperor.

[collapse]
He struggles with money, finding gigs and work. The story was very boring in the middle, all mundane daily stuff, small aspiring actors gigs and his co workers. Warning: MC has a depression and is suicidal because of his transmigration. It actually makes sence. In transmigration stories MC just accepts everything and acts like it's no big deal, adopts quickly to his role. But this MC had a loving family and happy life before his transmigration and suddenly he is none here. He has no friends, people's memory of him is randomly generated, vague and false, his parents are absent. He has no friends or anyone talk to in this world. He is all alone, everything seems fake here. He feels like he doesn't "belong" here, it's not his world. He misses his real family. Of course he would be depressed. This story shows that depression and healing part of this. If you are expecting a novel with theme of "birth of new superstar", this is not it. <<less

I usually don't like novels with angst and depressive themes but this one is top notch. The author treats the theme realistics with the ups and downs in an heartbreak but not overly dramatic description.

I would say this novel is mostly about the MC, his new life, trying to move on (and failling in the process), and finale succeding in being health and happy. The ML is part of the reasons to MC's problem, but not the origin of it. But also one of the reasons why the MC could... more>> stand up at the end. And everything makes senses. The same way as how real the author treats mental deseases, is how real all the other problems, and also how MC and ML's relationship is treated. Theres no pretending nothing happens, theres no "i forgive you, it wasnt your fault".

Spoiler

MC understand ML was also a victm in some way, but this doesnt makes MC hate ML less, MC actually said he hated and wanted to get revenge, that also explain why he treated ML badly. But at some point, the joy and the love that ML gave to him in the present were bigger than something that was drop by their heads in the past.

[collapse]

ML did everything he could to treat, care and cherish MC. Together with MC family. I love all of them so much. If you start reading and gets disapointed with firsts chapters, I can just say: I understand you. But the history is so much more than that. MC new life and struggles are way more than that. And their love is build in such a beautiful, painful, true and complicity way. <<less

Aaaah

I actually doesn't like angst story that much, but for Chichi, I managed to complete it.

A happy ending ^^

... more>> At first I didn't read the tag and felt that the synopsis is interesting, so I read it, until in the middle I felt something wrong and check the tags :"). Wow :) Almost dropped it.

But the story is very interesting that I even mtled from the latest translated chapter :)

I haven't read many story with the same condition as Gu Qingchi, but I like how the author described GQ's condition slowly. Uh, not abruptly stating this and that, maybe?

I also like that XL is very, very caring for GQ, and tried his best for the redemption for his mistake, slowly and not forcing GQ, and also taking care of GQ slowly throughout GQ's journey out of the abyss.

Also love GQ's family! They are so loving of Chichi, I'm glad that they can meet.

I actually want to give 4/5, but gave 5/5 for being an angst story that I can completed reading :D <<less

I find the author's description of characters unbearable. It's like they want to describe every little things about the characters. Like, every expression, every movement have to be explained. Frankly, it's annoying and interfering with my reading experience.

The description make it seem like it'd be one of those light and fluffy "I'm free of the forced plot and now will live my own life" stories...

But in reality, the PLOT is mostly a description of the MC beauty, his depression throughout the novel and road to recovery...

It's not bad story, but it's not what I expected & definitely not what I signed up for...

(Note: I normally like beauty as a major chunk of a fluffy/fun story, but it's too excessive here & doesn't suit the story) <<less

I mtl'ed it. The story is really good. Heartwrenchingly good. Got me crying, smiling and sometimes both at the same time.

I'll come back when the english translation is finished. This really nice. No one skip over this story.

Note: I especially like this because as a fellow depressed person, I could really relate with the MC. The portrayal of emotions of depression and loneliness really hit home.

I get it the MC develop depression over 2 years alone in a big villa. (Honestly I dont agree about the review why someone will not get depress in 2 years abandoned, alone in a big house. You may say, he is in a big house with money and such BUT he is ALONE, with no one to talk to, he can see people, he can remember people around, but those people cant remember him, will forget about him. And he is not a some kind of this generations where techs is everything. Besides, he got memories of his other life, free and many people aroun him. Obviously this can easily make someone get depress). Anyway, back to the MC character, he is almost like 2D for me. I mean the only thing I can remember is him being a beauty, him got depress and attempt su*cide at the later part and etc. I feel like he can even be a background character. The only character that I feel at least alive is our ML. He got a really weird personality.

[collapse]

And the plot? Uhh how do I say this, there is this and that character suddenly there but then it lost and skip in a relatively small bit of being mentioned. Get what I mean? Haha.

Anyway its okay to read, but I dont feel its worth to reread? Not sure.

For the translation, its CG, cant say anymore, their translation always top notch. Thank you. <<less

MC is very detached and it obviously has to do with how ML treated the MC during their married time. He basically abandoned ML and MC had to bear with it alone during that period of time, abandoning himself to completing the previous task in order to be free. Honestly, if ML's character doesn't improve in the coming chapters, there's a high chance I'll just drop it.

I just bawled my eyes out. Is a very uplifting story, the MC has a very severe depression and different from other novels they don't bypass this they go tho the source. Very well passed, it may seemed a little slow at the beginning but it just needs this little details. You wont regret reading this, a warning even if is not a tragedy it gets dark when confronting the illness of the MC so get your tissues ready. I thing I liked about this is that the author doesn't... more>> transfer guilt, neither from the MC nor the ML everyone gets their share and when they reveal the truth I swear I felt physical pain. <<less

TW: mentions of self-h*rm, depression and *ttempt.

This has been a surprising journey to say the least, Gu QingChi is a very conflicting type-of-character through no fault of his own.

He is endearing and aspects of his character is so grounded and genuine that you can't help but root for him on every single obstacle he may face. Unfortunately, emphasis on FACE. The novel makes a very strong point on how utterly magnetic Xiao Chi is to the point that it starts to sound like a buzz. As I said before not... more>> a fault of the character on the contrary I am taking on a parental role however there's so much scene that could have been written descriptively rather than an overbearing amount of sentence after sentence just saying that MC is pretty af.

But.. The heart of this novel is certainly the struggle between MC's perception of reality and his emotions. I think that the portrayal can be up for debate but I feel like they handled Xiao Chi's struggles pretty well and by the end of it you just feel good about everything.

The things that irked me were a few such as during the Fashion Week Arc as well as the Second Movie Arc. I find it really funny how patriotic juice is injected on the interactions when it comes to overseas interaction. These things are light though and you can just glance away from them since they don't impact the plot heavily either way. <<less

Uhm, I was not prepared for this novel because I only read the synopsis. It gets real. Not for the faint of heart; especially when you're halfway through the story. Please read the tags.

Tbh I felt extremely bad for the ML. Don't get me wrong MC got lots of abuse from the author and I wish his lot was at least a little bit better, but it just served to remind me that when someone is ill in your family it's not just them who suffers but it's also the people who care for that person suffer too. It's no one's fault, but it's allowed to feel bad for them too.

Anyways back to ML, the groveling he had to go through was disproportionate.... more>> Everyone's an adult and I don't think it's so sinful or unforgivable to dissolve a contractual marriage through a lawyer without making a personal contact. Sure, he could've shown more tact and responsibility during this sham of a marriage but then again he thought the other party was just enjoying their life and he didn't feel like he owed them anything. He indeed did make a thoughtless mistake but come on he doesn't deserve THAT much angst. Oh my gosh! I didn't even realized that I'm at the end of the story.

Okay, warning this review would be full of spoilers and my personal opinion. Also, a mention of self-harm. About the MC, Gu Qingchi:

Spoiler

When I first read this story, my first thought was MC gives more of a top vibes than the ML. I mean, he just exceeds so much of a ML vibes. Especially since the blatant difference between their characters and personality is seen.

And when I just realized that personality of him isn't his actual personality but actually the build up fragile ness over the years of being lock up by the 'world's system', two years might not be long enough but it's enough for someone's mentality to crumble with the compiling burden of not knowing anyone and not being remember by anyone.

Additionally, his attempt quite shocked me. I mean, I do expected it to happened, it's just that everything seems to be going well. Also, maybe because I'm amazed by how he actually persisted so long to attempt. Not that I want him to do so.

I actually come off hating the author somehow, cause the MC used to be so bubbly, innocent, and sunny. Also, the fact that MC even started to doubt his own existence, where he felt that he exists and at the same not, it's just so sad. At first, thinking how he had gone bad just for the plot is infuriating but knowing the reason is much more heart wrenching.

Speaking of heart wrenching, I was actually happy that he atleast got his family back. It's so touching that a mother's love is really so great. But despite having them all back, it's so sad to read how he act so unfamiliar with the place he used to be so familiar with, A. K. A his home, good thing it all ends well.

[collapse]

Next is the ML, Xie Luyu:

Spoiler

Xie Luyu being the ML come off quite controversial, mainly because of the years of neglect of his marriage with MC. Personally, my take in this is that he isn't to be blamed. It's not like he knew when they were married he was just informed that he got married and that's it. Even I would be selfish enough to think only about myself in this scenario. No one likes to be forced on something you didn't want especially something crucial as marriage.

Anyways, I was actually doubting whether he's the ML or not. Cause the way his character is simple come off as a side character one. I mean, maybe because most of the MLs I read aren't as full of emotions as he was. Actually, Cheng Ke (the first person who made MC realized that his existence is real) gives more the ML vibes for me haha!

Also, I actually expected them to be back with each other after ML knowing that they were married. But it's actually more fitting for MC to have the reason to live the most. Cause if they do actually get back together in that part, it's more of MC being dependant on ML's company and might not even be a love in the first place.

Next is the key part, where ML's existence itself is the reason for MC's 'transmigration.' I actually interpret it as somehow the universe doing a favor for ML not to meet his downfall again after what happened in the OG world. I mean, as far as I understand it. When MC died in his world he was still in school and ML was still building up his career. The same timeline MC 'transmigrated' to, where MC was cut off his studies to be married off to ML that was on the peak of building career. It's seem to me that the world is compensating the ML for his grief when MC died in the real world.

Anyways, it was never ending cycle of rebirth in some sense. The difference is that from the previous rebirths MC just end up dying. While the difference that happened in this timeline is MC remembering his past life. Making it more prone to depression.

Lastly, it was really such a thoughtful and full of intent writing. The way they find their way to each other and the execution of their love is all.

[collapse]

The story:

Spoiler

I think I pretty much said most of my thoughts above but let me just put more here.

The way how it goes to become a somehow 'The beginning of the end' type of story is such an unexpected one. I think this is the only story that I have read so far, that actually answered why MC has transmigrated, in such a unique reason.

Additionally, the sudden fall of the story kind of shocked me. I actually expected a shallow fluffy story about ML regretting that he divorce MC. But it's more psychological than that. I'm feel so scammed cause it seems so harmless and silly type of story. Still, I'm glad I read it. Cause it's such a good story especially, about mental health awareness, reading how many could relate to it simple shows how accurate and intent full the author wrote this story.

[collapse]

That's all my thoughts of it. Maybe I'll add some if I remember some details I'd like to talk about.

P. S. Not rating it, just because. Haha!
