I'll also put what made me want to pick the story up. Just be warned that I will delete the story from the list after I've read so the list will frequently change. I like to view the cover art of the book, and be able to see a lot of novel details on the list in one place instead of having to click to the web novel page. I also include any translation detail like where to find them if they aren't on novelupdates so I can read the whole story without getting stuck halfway because of no translations. Not in any particular order but I try to put similar novels, either in expected tropes or vibes together. And the incompleted ones at the back.  Recommendations are very welcome! <<less

I'm honestly really surprised that I could get so many BL novels with seme protagonists. Well, they are quite many but annoyingly, most aren't complete. Either the translations aren't uploaded regularly or the whole novel is just dropped. I haven't read quite a number of the novels in my lists because of these reasons. ... more>>

I can't believe that I could even find so many books, I didn't think it'd be possible when I started the first list.Y'all can check out the first list, there might be some similarities, but I'm too lazy to check lol. If there are novels that have romance in the later stages in both lists, please let me know.

I used to read western novels mostly but after the hype of Mo Dao Zu Shi, I got attracted to Chinese BL novels. And recently I have fallen into the BL hole. So, I continuously read Asian BL novels and what I have seen is that many of the BL stories have the following characteristics:... more>>

1. Stories are repetitive in nature with one main character completely obsessed with the other main character. Also, most of them focus mainly on the lead characters. Most of the time, side characters are just there to be the lead characters' lackeys or face-slap recipients.

2. Even the writing style and plot are copy-paste from some older novels of the same genre. 

3. R*pe is highly romanticized especially on Asian BL novels.

4. Toxic relationship is depicted as romantic . 

5. And lets not forget the segregation of 'top' and 'bottom'. 

6. 'Tops' are aloof, cold, otherworldly handsome, possessive and sex-driven.

7. 'Bottoms' are feminine, meek and cute.

There are really only a few stories with proper world building, character development, healthy relationship, intricate and original plot, realistic characters, original writing style, etc.  These are what I personally think are the best Asian BL novels I have ever read: <<less
