Any-thing that seizes my heart with so many giggles, guffaws, growls, and raucous snorts that my dog scares out a string of farts so raunchy that I gag. Any~thang that tears out a f*cking aaaawwww from my sore sore throat and oh very tired vi**atordildofingershandfistummmmcoughcough.

Stories and/or characters that refuse to disappear into the foggy marshes of memories long forgotten. These are the worlds that will most likely overrun reality when I get old.

Note: I have a sliiiiggghhhht obsession with overpowered main characters. But if they end up in this list, I implore you to have an open mind. There's a reason for it. Anyway~I apologize ahead of time Orz

Oh, GOD-- Please, if you have it in your supreme heart, in the very depths of your soul, somewhere in there, hidden within the light of your greatness....spare me from your wrath...for loving this story. Oh Great God, I will admit that Lu Shu is the typical wet dre--ahem--android mofo, BUT, he is realistic in his reasonings and has me leak--admiring his turn of phrase and paths of thought. We see his blind spots so clearly, watch him learn from them, and luxuriously enjoy how he teaches others about their own blind spots and assumptions...And oh Supreme God--is it such a sin for me to drool and perspire from every major orifice at such delightful... more>> slaughters the MC and his sister take part in? So many sentences and scenes just make me wipe my mouth as if I just finished my favorite chocolate truffle cake. And aren't we all your creations? In that way, you most probably love Lu Shu too <3 as, he, too, is a changing being, and was never a robot to begin with. I thank you, oh Divine One, for sparing me despite my overpowered lust.

All lusty ramblings aside, though--People get so caught up about nationalism this and nationalism that. Such things are present in this story, but I wouldn't say this story has tasteless and forceful nationalistic bullsh*t being forced down your throat. The MC is surrounded by nationalism and completely LOATHES all things nationalism and sacrifice. His core wish for himself is to be free and to not be controlled or caged. And while he starts caring more and more for his country and for other people, he ends up serving his country only because of his comrades and NOT because of some inflated sense of nationalistic tendencies. Even to the very end, he says that freedom is what he wants.

What I liked about Lu Shu is that I trusted him to be him. Lu Shu will do what Lu Shu wants to do. If he doesn't want to be manipulated or talked down to then he'll damn well make sure to rise up against that. If he doesn't want to do something for his country, he damn well won't. If he's fine with it (due to his own schemes), then he'll take it. But only ever for a bit. Lu Shu is someone I would follow even for another 1300 chapters. Because he's stubborn as f*ck and he also keeps learning. He's not always the same motherf*cker. Just as we are not always the same as in the past. Also, if a person doesn't have any modicum of care for their country to be safe and protected, gratitude for those who protect, and some loyalty for the people who live around you...then if ever I had to share a room with that person, I would sleep with a knife under my pillow. Those who say that this story is merely nationalism at a brain-washing level, then they don't have a reading level beyond middle school. Critical reading is totes a thing for stories that explore incendiary topics like nationalism and brainwashing. But when a character does things for their loved ones and not for king and country...and it just happens to coincide with nationalistic thought...that is not nationalism. That is a healthy person who is not a psychopath.

Also, someone could say there's anti-Japanese sentiment...there is some (as well as anti-American, etc.)...but it's more like how one would prefer their home country over Japan. Or how some Japanese thought etc is so very alien in comparison to one's own. We all compare. And Lu Shu is no different, except for him, he always attempts to understand and analyze and conclude. He's not a one and done type of person. He's never done analyzing. A conclusion he once made can be overturned. So, with any sort of anti-whoever sentiment, that is not all there is and ever will be. And Lu Shu's concern over people, despite their heritage, doesn't sound like nationalistic bullshit.

People are so sensitive about this topic, and I could go on and on with my examples about how nationalism is present in the story, but it's not the point and it's not Lu Shu's answer. It's just frustrating that people will nitpick things in a story that shows they've not read past general topics and basic sentence meanings. Example, a person can read the last sentence and see the word "nitpick" and they could immediately get defensive but not take in the fact that the point of the sentence is that there are people not reading everything there is in a sentence. It's not an attack but merely an observation and fact--there can be more in a sentence than one intent, and as such, there are and will be people who don't catch more than one intent. But a person can read my sentence and feel attacked instead of thinking whether or not it's a moment they can analyze themselves and see if there's a way to change/evolve/better themselves. But anyway, triggering topics do this. We immediately emotionally react to things that are sensitive. But Lu Shu doesn't. Due to being in survival mode all his life, he's learned to stop. Learned to be careful and analyze and become better. Then he analyzes to find the best conclusion. This level of determination and consistent action is deserving of respect, and I wish there was more of that kind of person. Anyway, I digress. If you've read this far, damn, I'm impressed. Thank you~

Also also, the last 400 pages are so rushed. They could have easily been another 1000. So unfortunate. Still worth a read because I learned all sorts of philosophical stuffs from this story. <<less
