Talk about revenge!! There was a lot of repetition in terms of physical descriptions but it is well written overall. The story itself was really long and that might tire you out. It is definitely not a quick read. This is a plot heavy with schemes and side characters. There are many villains too. I love a smart female protagonist and power couple dynamic (ML was ridiculously OP though).

I  must admit that this lost  a bit of steam in the last arc. The politics and schemes felt watered down as it progressed and focused more on the romance at the end. The ending was happy but not satisfying .

 I have  no regrets reading this. Is it perfect... no, but I enjoyed it for what it was.

Out the gate the relationship starts out messed up and problematic in all honesty. Right from the wedding night consent was an issue and ML was still cold when he returned. ML is far from a gentleman in the beginning but there is room to grow once all the misunderstandings are cleared up i guess. You kind of have to look at it through the lens of the period it is set in but still...

Maximillian suffers from a stutter. She is very shy, timid, no backbone, naive etc. The girl is a product of abuse and trauma from her upbringing so her demeanor makes sense. It may be frustrating to see her so weak or docile. I found  Maxi  annoying at times because her progress was so slow and the constant self deprecation was a bit of a drag but her behaviour is true to the story and her character. There is satisfaction in watching her grow. You cant help wanting to see her gain some confidence and self-esteem. Fun to see her come into her own through earning to manage castle affairs, building friendships, learning  magic etc.

There is a fair amount of smut lol. They may have  banged more than they had conversations in the beginning but it didn't detract too much. However,  i  personally craved a bit more emotional intimacy and for her to open up about her past. Every time they talk or got serious it is interrupted with physical stuff instead of moving forward or having a real break-through. It felt like the couple used s*x as a crutch to  connect and avoid talking .Their love language is clearly physical touch but 145 chapters in I needed more.

I read the manhwa first and I enjoy reading it so far

I'm a sucker for rebirth and second chance stories. The FL was reborn to the day of their marriage and from there all the miscommunications and things unsaid start to unravel. The idea of fixing a broken marriage was nice. Truly all could have been cleared up with an honest conversation the first time around but then again we wouldn't have a story. For once we don't have evil in-laws or wholly bad exes. It is realistic in that aspect. It is typical in the sense that they don't follow real life problems as they are rich and  live in that bubble therefore the focus is on the relationship. There are also cute kids to look forward to. 

This isn't a hot and heavy love story. It is all about the  slow growth and mutual understanding. I liked it and have warm thoughts overall.

The host's family abandoned her, her acting career was a mess and in the middle of all that she ends up pregnant with god know whose child(kind obvious who it is but ....). FL is super lucky, literally that's her superpower and she does what she can to pull her new life together. She works to be a good mom, actress and financially stable. Eventually the film emperor ML enters the fold along the way too.

Aspects of the story are written too nonchalantly and minimize a lot of sensitive issues. It weaponizes things like r*pe, aids and homosexuality/bis**uality(not cool) to punish the bad guys. There are more problematic stuff surrounding consent and drugging etc that are hard to ignore. Towards the end it got messy and issues were thrown together just for the sake of drama. It ruined the whole thing for me. Kind of a lazy and illogical way to deal with villains tbh.

Everything gets resolved quite easily plot-wise . The villains are not that deep in my eyes and could be way better developed or less cliché. There are few plot holes but it's got a cute kid so that's cool. This is a good read to kill time but nothing groundbreaking.
