Firstly, the vocal cords are not connected to the oesophagus or esophagus which will lead to the stomach and thus the small and large intestines. Both of which process water. The vocal cords are connected to the larynx and trachea which leads to the lungs, and before that there is a cartilage which is controlled by muscles called epiglottis which closes off when drinking. Unless, the MC is an idiot when trying to drink while breathing I don’t think is medically possible for the glass shards to come in contact... more>> with vocal cords. This clearly shows the author don’t actually do research. That’s why 2 stars. The story is definitely not perfect. The MC is weird.

Plus, the story stated it was glass shards, which are considerably largr than you think it is, how dafuq did the store clerk or what not did not notice there is some glass shards. And why do glass shards appear nearby beverage dispensers anyway, do the store clerks not have any type of logical reasoning?

Sorry about the rant. <<less

My rating is probably pretty biased one. I rate stories more on feeling than on actual quality. So even though I knew this novel has spades of little mistakes, I still gave it full score.

I write this shortly after reading chaps 46 and 47 (near the end), which were so sad, so painful and so bittersweet. I was choked on emotions, so packed up with them they were.

How can people end up so broken. How can hope hurts so much.

I was crying. I am emphatic woman but not to the... more>> point that I cry easily - but I was heartbroken when I was reading it. And so happy. It was very strong and very complex feeling.

The novel was brillinat one (among similar novels. If you look for contemporary with solid characters who acted somehow predictably and love is main plot - basicaly CN). It was mostly the story of characters and their emotions so there were not much action or intrigue.
At first it was very sweet story. I just loved to read about all that meng and fluff. Most of the book was like that, actually.
What I really liked about it - protagonists vere real. Their emotions, confusion, hopes. Even though it was scaled more to the fluff and sweet side and characters were somehow static and some aspects were glossed over, it was still more real-like that other works. I lost myself in it.
Also, it's the first story with decent ML who respect and dotes upon his wife and is still quite ruthless.

Slightly spoiler-ish ahead in flashing out ML character...
Spoiler

I mean, he was soldier. He is mean bussinessman. But this is first story in which I really believe it because it wasn't just written down but also shown, which is rare. He was sweetheart to his wife, but quite brutal to his enemies - even females.

Only problem was - MC was behaving really, really bad. Borderline with child and domestic abuse, so there was this. But it was in line with storyline when she was amnesiac and just wanted to be better, so these shades were quite glossed over. Also, she had reason. Some people can never understand how desperate is man in depression and lost in self-loathing. They don't take it as excuse for harming others, but I think it was, if not good explanation, than at least honest one. And again, author used slight "deus ex-machina" to made it work. It's story after all.

[collapse]

The story was flashed out well. I liked that all the loose ends were wraped up nicely. It was packed with emotions. It has happy ending.
Even though I don't particulary liked the writing style, I don't know if it was author or the translation (which was good despite some grammar mistakes and weird senteces - pretty much average translation. Some of the translator's comment cracked me up), it still managed to got under my skin.

It wasn't perfect, but it touched me. So, 5*. <<less

Sh*t I can't believe you guys put all these positive reviews up here. I mean,

Spoiler

THE MC PUT A CIGARETTE BUTT ON HER SON'S ARM FOR GOD'S SAKE, YET THE HUSBAND AND CHILD DON'T RESENT HER ONE BIT, EVEN FAITHFULLY CLINGING ON TO HER AND KEPT SHOWERING HER WITH LOVE.

Some people are saying she's not abusive because she was drunk and she's an alcoholic/depressed. I mean come on, who are you kidding. She's an alcoholic, she broke windows, smashed and threw things around, that eventually physically hurt her child and husband while never taking care of her greatly neglected family at all and some people still called her not abusive??? Come on.

[collapse]

Is that even logical? It's said that the ML has strong morals and is a good father. Would a good father bootlick his child's abuser and refuse to divorce her? I mean come on guys, you can do better. The author clearly cannot write any humanlike character, like at all. AND she's plainly ignorant by belittling MC's past and present abusive + violent behaviors.
Spoiler

MC basically treated ML like tr*sh, they married because of an accident, and ML still followed her like a puppy wherever she goes unwilling to divorce her and showering her with love? SHE ABUSED HIM AND THEIR CHILD FOR GOD'S SAKE.

[collapse]

Someone needs to call Child Protection Services. You honestly can only find characters like this in super shallow CN romance novels. The character development and background is absolutely zip zero nada very very bad. Like, literally, you'd not find any character in any way similar to the ones depicted in the novel in real life.
Spoiler

I mean come on, who'd not hold even a shred of grudge to a woman who had basically treated him like tr*sh for years. She even threw things to broke the windows and tr*shed the studio her husband gifted to her. Even a child who'd been continuously abused still cling so faithfully without a doubt to the abuser?

[collapse]

I've been abused as a kid and dealt with children on a daily basis and I can tell you that it's completely nonsense. Children always remember any hostility subjected to them and would definitely not approach an abuser presistently with an optimistic outlook. That's just sick. I read until the last chapter to give it a chance, thinking that maybe, maybe, the author had something up her sleeves to save these random incomprehensible characters. But no, there are even more irrational things with illogical emotional responses thrown in the plot. These characters simply don't make any sense with the most contradictory character building elements I've ever read in any piece of writing so far. In conclusion, it's bad, like very. Since the main characters are paperlike, we don't even have to mention how completely foolish the side character building as well.

Spoiler

A mother in law who can accept being called names and abused by her daughter in law yet still acting tough and giving her money? A stepsister in law who's low in standing in her family, afraid of her brother's power, yet funnily brave enough to continuously teases said brother to sleep together?

[collapse]

God, I can't even begin to list down the shallowness of this novel's character building. The author seems to have read too much low-rated recycled novels and doesn't put enough effort to actually interact with another human being to understand how humans work. I'm guessing she doesn't have many friends to begin with. This is plainly s*upid. Not to mention the fact that it's clear as day that the author doesn't have a clue nor put enough effort to do research on the business industry. I practically gagged reading some parts depicting the ML's work because it just doesn't make any sense. She didn't even grasp the basic understanding of how entertainment companies work so the parts showing MC's work are also extremely laughable. Anyone working professionally would know that the author just never put any attention in the industry and extremely sloppy in her efforts to undertstand it. Correct that, the author definitely didn't care enough to do research on anything. From the oversimplified studio recording mechanism, to medical facts.

Spoiler

There was a side plot where a character got second degree burn AND THE FIRST AID TREATMENT WAS TO RUB IT WITH ALCOHOL.

[collapse]

I mean, come on, Google is just one click away. Typing "burn first aid treatment" would only take one minute at most. For anyone having enough common sense, reading this would be tough. There are too many logical fallacies to mention in every chapter to begin with. I can guess that the author is at most a middle schooler or has a mind of one. From structure, plot, character development, background, moral development, even basic logics, this novel is just a mess. The only selling point of this novel is basically the saint-like ML, who'd tolerate any abuse and violent behavior from MC, prepare snacks and buy gifts for her every now and then like a s*upidly blind obsessed person, making girls go kya-kya in every turn. The ones who gave high ratings for this novels are undoubtedly only thirsty for a perfect rich well mannered blinded by love 2D character like him. And to think that I've read enough recycled cliche CN romance light novels before this.

Edit: I just put A LOT of spoiler tags in here because it seems like some people can't appreciate criticism and reported my honest review :) <<less

Damn this novel is really good. Once you read the part when MC remembered what happened in her blank 5 years, I assure you that there will be tears. Lots and lots of tears.

Yes ML was a very, very good man... to his wife and son. The rest can go to hell. MC was a cheerful, lively, and reasonable woman... until you read the things that happened in the blank 5 years and realized why despite the horrible things they said she did ML and her sister still loves her.

Their... more>> son was super adorable. Smart, obedient, lovely and cute. You'd feel like hugging something when you read any passage about him.

TLDR: Read the novel. It's short and worth it. <<less

((Update: I´m dropping this. MC became more dislikable as it goes on. What happened before feels like a blank, a summary the author added just to leave some "depth and mysteriousness" to the plot, and it failed. I´m now at ch 21 and there´s still no clue how MC and ML met, what caused MC to treat him so badly, and what seriously puzzles me is how she doesn´t seem to care to find out about anything at all. She´s such a moronic character that fits the ideal of every chinese mans dream.))

well like stated in other comments, this is a light-read novel full of fluff and love. It´s alright but it can be a bit too much with the authors vomit-inducing description of ML. Being handsome,... more>> strong, intelligent and rich man is clearly not enough. With every chapter without fail there is a vivid imagery of what a fine clever beast he is. And his only flaw is loving his wife a little too much.

And after MC lost her memories and "woke up" 5 years later, her personality did a 180 turn and she became a perfect chinese type of mother and wife. She´s innocent, hardworking, earnest... well with such main characters it´s a bit boring to be honest. But really it´s an alright read for days when you want a fluffy story. <<less

I really love this story so much. The ML really love our MC. He has been protecting her silently all these years since before they married. Other couples story also great. But I still love our main couple.

I cried so much when MC finally remember what happen during those 5 years she forgot and the reason she did all those.

Spoiler

MC never hated ML and their son. She loves them so much but she think that she does not deserve someone like ML. ML cried (ML always tells his son that man should not cry. LOL) hearing MC confession that she actually has been in loves with him since 6month pregnant.

ML really sweet and doting husband. He becomes her male God because he coincidentally saves her from traficking (ML follows MC to the village because he feels jealous that MC ex-boyfriend is there. LOL)

[collapse]

This story is really heart-warming. The MC is likeable. I like the moments when she knows ML darkside (ML always afraid that MC will hated him because his darkside. ML is cruel to others but saint to his wife), she embraced him and said she didn't mind as long as ML did not arson or murder.

Their son is very smart and adorable. He plot to be near his mother after MC lose her memories. He always comforted his mother (MC wants to recruit a passerby to sing her song, that passerby called MC cheater. Our adorable bun comforted his mother saying, "how can someone cute like my mother be a cheater".) <<less

Re: child abuse

Spoiler

Yes, the child does have a burn on his arm that came from a cigarette the FL was smoking. It is misleading to intimate that she stubbed it out on him - she was drunk, the toddler came into her room and the cigarette accidentally fell on him. Is she ultimately responsible? Yes. Did she intend to harm her child? No.

[collapse]

Re: not caring for her child

Spoiler

The FL's feelings towards her child are quite complex. The situation he was conceived in was grey-bordering-black, but she does love him after she gives birth. After [plot], her self-esteem plummets and she decides that she is going to leave. So as to not harm the child even more she keeps her distance and "doesn't care for him". Was this a logical course of action? No. Does she care for her child? Yes.

[collapse]

Re: how she treats her husband

Spoiler

I honestly think it's a bit rich to say she is abusing him. She didn't want to get married. After they get married she wants a divorce. The ML refuses. She treats him badly (exhibits abusive behaviour). The ML still refuses. She treats him worse. He still refuses. While she is violent, the ML is ultimately the one with the power, and it is because he exerts this power that the FL devolves into using self-destructive and violent behaviour.

Is this well-written? No. Is this realistic? No. Is it good for the well-being of both parties? No.

[collapse]

Re: the translation

The translation is not bad.

Spoiler

I don't like talking about translation quality unless it's so bad it reads like MTL because translators work hard to provide their translations free of charge and criticising feels ungrateful. Is this translation perfect? No. There are a times where the sentences are awkwardly worded, there are grammar mistakes, etc. But when compared to all the other translations out there, this would rank a solid "average". It's not perfect, but it's definitely not bad.

[collapse]

Now that's out of the way, I want to talk about: (no spoilers here)

Spoiler
  • Structure. Don't expect the FL's past to be drip-fed. It's explained in a long flash-back towards the end of the story (chapter 40+). Up until then you're just as confused as the FL is in regards to how her friendships, enmities, and scars formed. Could drip-feeding the past have created more tension? Yes, but it's satisfactory the way it is.
  • The FL's past. Is it satisfying?... it's satisfying to finally find out all the missing pieces of the jig-saw, but in other respects it's overdone (*cough* the debacle of how she really lost her voice *cough*).
  • The ML. He's overdone. Waaaaaay too overdone. He's like a teenage girl's fantasy husband - cold and ruthless to everyone else but forever loyal to you. Let's not pretend that this trope is only used in this story, but it's noticeable here because the ML's ruthlessness is shown and exaggerated, and his TLC also... goes beyond the limits of what a normal person could endure. To say he's a masochist would not be too far out.
  • The FL and ML's relationship. When she doesn't have her memory: eh, cute. In so far as Chinese webnovels go. In the past: I'm convinced that he is the one responsible for pushing her deeper into the well of despair, self-loathing, and low self-esteem that she ends up in after [plot]. Instead of declaring "I'll make you better" he should have just quietly showed her into a psychiatrists office. Then the story would have been much shorter and the FL wouldn't have been so broken.
  • The complicated web of relationships. Everyone is related to someone who had a motivation to do something which then affected someone else which caused harm to the FL. Or something like that. You get the picture.
  • The villains. This is where the FL not remembering the past really hinders the story. If you knew what she'd been through the face-slapping would be much more satisfying.
[collapse]

Conclusion: It's an average story. As I said, it doesn't deserve either such praise or such censure. There's fluff, but also really questionable relationships. There's a cute child who acts like all other cute children in webnovels - not at all realistic.

There's an overbearing and loyal-to-the-point-of-"if he didn't already know the FL he'd be a stalker" male lead, and an emotionally unbalanced female lead whom noone seems to notice needs help. Their families on both sides are ridiculously biased.

In short, it's just like every other average webnovel - read if like that kind of thing, and don't read if you don't. <<less

Srsly most of all c-novels so far have a plot "MC was raped by ml, fell in love" or "ML is filthy rich typical ahole, MC is modern cinderella" or "ML still not over his exlover uses MC as rebound" or the most typical one "bff of MC stole her past douchebag exbf, seeks revenge with the help of so cold ml" and a lot of those c-novels have painstakingly long drama battles.

This one, tho it has those typical dramas, the MC & ML are super loveable esp the ML... more>> he's the best of the best. His patience, endurance, & love for his wife is very commendable, unlike those other typical ML that will mentally or physically abused the MC when they tend to get "jelous" & "territorial" he on tye other hand will just pour all his love on MC whilst understanding her. And don't even let me start with the cute little dumpling, his simply the most adorable child ij this novel.

And lastly I would like to thanks the eng translator & editor of this c-novel. Their notes made me laugh all the times whilst sharing the same feeling towards the story. <<less

Spoiler

If you're looking for An Yize x Jian Jian vibes, with a unique twist you've come to the right place.

It's a really interesting take - I'm a fan of reincarnation-transmigration novels, and appreciate how the novel starts in the past, MC experiences a five-year memory blank, which propels her into the future (which is actually current time). Similar to many re-tra novels where MC has a cheat of knowledge of the world or events to guide their life, I'd like to think that MC's cheat is her amnesia - she has an opportunity to start afresh. MC has to relearn her relationships and every moment is slow and sweet: her interactions with ML is realistic and, Xiao Yuan is the cutest, most thoughtful, strongest, chubbiest cupid - and you'll just want to squish him every time he appears.

There's a subtle tinge of sadness coated with sugar, as you realise the pain both MC and ML feel, with each part that leads her closer to her memories and ML's unconditional love and his soft reactions. I love how ML's thoughts and actions are so gentle and transparent:

Spoiler

Everything was quiet, but his heart was filled. He sat on the bed and looked at the outside world, the silent and lonely world. He didn't feel sad at all. Because she's lying behind him. She's in his world.

Even the side characters stories are good and sweet.

Recommended. Fully recommend it.

The only lacking point is the translation. It is bad and can create misunderstanding but not that bad. You just have to think a little to understand it. Just don't be too picky. Anyway, I don't mind it because the story is too good to be ignored. Well, I even go to mtl to complete reading.

At first I didn't want to read this. Why? Because the rate is too high but damn those rating is true, and for those who rate this one low? Okay you can just go away and never come back, don't read another novel.

Even if it's not fully translated you can read at mtl, which is a good thing that my head didn't explode. (Most of mtl translations are raw like the grammar is really wrong) but this one is exemption.

Anyway to the translator, I love you. Merry me! <<less

FL was really depressed and felt very inferior when she lost her memory. It seemed like she woke up in the future but it really was just she went back to the time where all this sh*t happened. All because of a backstabbing sister who unintentionally placed all the bricks and led her to the ML.

There was controversies going on here, female empowerment and human trafficking. So much betrayal going went in. I hope the woman FL rescued healed herself with the man who waited and looked for her for... more>> 15years.

When you keep reading this, you'll realized this ML is like a holy saint (only for the FL tho). So much skeletons hidden in his mother's closet. You'd wonder why tf is he so obsessed with the FL who had anger issues and depression. Turns out, she was the one who gave him hope in life. Even tho it was unintentional. She thought he was just a lonely dying uncle with no family.
Spoiler

SHE LITERALLY EXPOSED HERSELF ONLINE TO A STRANGER. Thank goodness the ML is a good guy.

[collapse]

Her big sister is a big hero to FL.
Spoiler

Without her, I think she wouldn't fare well. Thankgoodness she also got a good ending. Her first love betrayed her even tho he really loved her but forced due to family issues. That was her bottom line since she has been betrayed by her father already. There was a dud who liked her way before her first love. He's kinda cold like ML but he was just awkward shy lol

[collapse]

Anyways, her step sister is such a backstabber and karma bit her mother back because honestly, it was all her fault this all happened. If she didnt try to destory someones marriage and tried to find a good man, the Liang Xin wouldn't be this way. Of course, the father had good amount of karma. He died alone and his 'wonderful' wife got pregant. She didn't know he can stand up but can't bake. HA. <<less

Oh my god.

Reading the description of this story, I didn't think I would like this, but with the high rating and the good reviews, I decided to give it a shot anyways and just... oh my god.

I need to go to the doctors because I'm pretty sure I have diabetes now.

Jesus Christ, this story was so freaking fluffy and sugary sweet and cute and I. I'm so glad I read it. It was a nice change of pace from what I've been reading recently. If you're looking for a cute... more>> fluffy story then I highly, highly recommend this because I'm still sitting here just yelling in my head about how cute the MC and ML are and over the epilogues ahhh LOL.

I normally don't like the modern stories because I just find them somewhat boring and cookie cutter and prefer xianxia/xuanhuan/ancient China settings, but this story was just so cute and fluffy! The drama was just right, the face slapping was excellent, and the love between the ML and MC was just... chef's kiss... SO GOOD. One of the big reasons I dislike the modern stories is because they tend to be more melodramatic and there's always a sh*t ton of cliche misunderstandings between the MC and ML. Luckily though because of the short length of this story, there really isn't an opportunity for misunderstandings, especially because the MC and ML trust each other. (Of course, this isn't to say that period dramas don't have their own dumb cliches, but there's just something about modern stories that just bore me... different strokes for different folks, I guess)

I also really love the flashback in the later chapters regarding the MC's memories of the five years between them and I like how everything was tied up together. The ML and MC are so cute, and there are so many fluffy moments in the entire story that I'm... I can't even handle it. Literally, I cannot. I say that unironically lmao.

But I think one of my most favorite parts was the story between Lin Qingqing's older sister, Lin Zhenzhen and Wu Qi and I am SOOOO glad they got an entire epilogue part for themselves because I was LIVING FOR IT.

Anyways 10/10 would read again and I highly recommend anybody who just wants a short, digestable story with a good amount of drama/face slapping/fluffy moments. I find the story was pretty well balanced for me, with just the right amount of drama, revenge against the bad guys, and of course cute romantic interactions between the MC and ML. <<less

This is such a lighthearted story. The story is filled with fluffiness at the same time, there's a touch of drama in it. It's filled with "kilig" moments not just with the main couple but with the side characters as well. I've been into heartwarming stories recently that's not overflowing with angst and this one is a perfect example.

... Oh god this is the first time I reviewed and I've edited this post a million times but I still can't figure out how to use the spoiler tag.

I really loved this story since it was different from those clichee "I got pregnant with the CEO's baby" kind of novels. Also aside from the main couple there were several couples and each of them had their own touching love story.

One was the MC's sister and a delinquent boy who loved her since high school. The other one was a singer and a soldier who saved her life when she was little and promised to give her a family. And finally there was the manager of the star who lost his sweetheart years ago. The story of the last couple is really heartbreaking.

What I loved the most about each couple was that they respected each other. The men always encouraged their women to pursue their dreams and they were not conceited and overbearing like most of the ML's in Chinese novels. Each one of them had their own insecurities.
One quote which I really loved was something one man told his "rival" (though the "rival" honestly had no chance) "The one you like isn't there for you to bully, to be sarcastic to, to ridicule, instead you should dote and treasure her, do you understand?" This basically sums up how the men treated their beloved.

The story itself is always very good. It starts off quite lighthearted. The MC and the ML are both very likable, especially the MC's reaction regarding her memory loss isn't annoying as many other MC's. Also their little son is adorable beyond words.
Later on there is lots of fluff and some really satisfying face slapping, especially as the MC often doesn't even need the ML's help and she doesn't go overboard and becomes overly conceited.
The story also takes a turn and becomes darker with human trafficking and also the part where the MC finally gets her memories back. That part really made me cry.

Overall I really liked the MC's attitude with how she dealt with the different situations. I also like how the author gave the supporting characters a background story and concluded their stories. And lastly there's all the fluff, the doting love and the cute little bun. <<less

This novel is full of soft and cuddly feeling. The little bun is so cute you want to kidnap and raise him. The big bun is also so cute.

This is a refreshing story among all dog blood dramas and misunderstanding between MC and ML stories. The character of MC is also refreshing.

Totally love the ML.

Totally loved it..... You will love the ML... He stayed loyal to her, supported her, tried to give her the best life.... He wasn't much overbearing which was definitely a plus point to me... And lastly he got what he deserved for all his hardwork...

The FL is likeable too... She started as an independent and virtuous girl but quickly became a pervert to ML (wait what???)...

But I loved how all 3 main couple's story finished... They got the life they wanted... Not a luxurious and successful life but a life full of happiness...

This light novel is full of fluff... But that didn't hinder it from telling a good and balanced story

The translation isn't the best... But I don't even mind mtl so why should I care about a little bad translation... (the translation is understandable... Give it a chance!!!) <<less
