Okay, so I saw a lot of low-star reviews saying "why couldn't the ML just communicate?" "why couldn't the ML just confess??"

Just some short answers here:

  1. The Shen Xi of the original timeline did, in fact, originally feel relieved that the ML wasn't around. She did not want to be married to him and got upset (in their first year of marriage) when she thought of the future. She didn't give the ML courage of any sort, to pursue her or to confess.
  2. The ML had a crippling inferiority complex regarding her. He grew up an abandoned child and had to sift through garbage for a living. Later, the Su family only took him back because they needed his liver. Compare this childhood, to Shen Xi, who from young got all the good things in life, and belonged to the upper-upper-class. A 'beggar' is marrying a 'princess'. The ML thinks that he doesn't deserve her, that he's already done enough by forcing her to marry him--he can't bear to do anything else.

FL is a very sweet kind lady. When she went back in time, she thinks everything thoughtfully and finally took a step forward in their relationship. They lived happily ever after. There's no pro revenge like other second chance stories.

As the title says, FL took a step forward in their relationship. She became more considerate which made the ML think she might like him a little but his low self esteem due to his past prevents him from being confident. He ended up finding that confidence and confessed to her.... more>> About how they met when she was just 3yrs old. I think the little revenge it has is towards ML's family.

they ended up having twin boys and a girl towards the end. Also ML from present and past ended up switching the day past ML was going to divorce FL. It was funny and cute. Past ML makes your heart break. He was really happy seeing his love giving him children but he knows it's just a dream. FL was shocked when she finds him very weird. Acting like day of their wedding. They switched but she talks to him and tells him what happened since the very beginning. Past ML went back to his timeline the day he was planning to divorce FL. Past FL also met present ML. So past ML ended up confessing and also bringing the pain he's been carrying. So past FL and ML finally lived happily ever afterrr.

Okay, I think the reason I loved this novel so much was because I'm really tired of the overbearing ML trope.

... more>> I've read so much of borderline yandere and straight-up yandere MLs that I'm not sure what romance actually is anymore. I think every woman in China wants to be dominated and controlled by an extremely handsome man whose handsomeness cannot be described in a single chapter. Sorry if that sounds misogynistic, it's just what I get from all these novels.

Back to the point, this story actually has normal romance. Of course, it's still dramatic and gets you teary-eyed because they have such huge misunderstandings about each other (you should be ready for that though, since it's in the synopsis) and you'll be frustrated and wish for them to just get together. HOWEVER, all new readers should be very happy to know that as of the current translated chapters, we're past all the sad stuff! Now it's a new era of happiness and maybe a little drama here and there, before it ends, at chapter 52, not including extras. I'm super thankful for the translator for translating a novel that actually gives me sweet doting feels instead of wtf-is-going-on-seriously-no-wait-SERIOUSLY-please-stop feels. I feel like the ML is kinda meh. Like, why won't he communicate???

Does he hope that the FL will just magically understand his thoughts process??

Although that's exactly what happen in this novel. It takes FL reliving her life to built this relationship, while ML just goes along with the ride.

This story is below average at its best. Overall it's quite dry and loveless. I'm giving it 1, 5 stars because I've definitely read worse stories.

Our couple here has no chemistry. There is absolutely non of it. You'll assume that the relationship gonna get better but it'll only leave you disappointed. Their development made me convinced that FL doesn't love him at all, she gets annoyed or angry from his tiny miny actions, disregards his feelings when he shows them even a little, well, ML supposedly a confident businessman, acts... more>> like a shy dumb 3-year-old before her. Without a tiny hesitation, he apologizes, says it's his fault when in fact it isn't and FL uses him quite well. She threatens him with leaving him or being angry to make ML obey her words. She expects him to say I love you but doesn't consider saying it back.

I honestly love timid characters but the ML in this novel is not timid in a cute way, it's annoying as hell. FL's unlogical actions only makes him more fidgety, introverted too. After a while, she knows he has inferiority problems before her and her actions makes the situation worse and worser. Basic human communication is a concept on another planet I guess...

As I'm writing these I get more irritated. I've read until chapter 40 then skimmed the rest to see if the relationship develops a little. It wasn't worth it. Even the main story ends with the word: "Shen Xi (FL) pushed Su Hang away and looked towards the..." -.- Girl, we know he's worthless but can you stop pushing your husband away????? <<less

Great translation but I couldnt get past the ML. I was mulling over it, trying to pinpoint why exactly his behavior was so offputting, because it wasnt that he was overly s*upid or selfish or anxious or insecure per se-I've enjoyed characters who were like that before. But finally I have it-it's because he emotionally immature, which is really the heart of why he was acting in such a bewildering and frustrating... more>> manner.

FL pretty much has to carry the whole relationship forward on her own, nurturing him like a mom/therapist so that he could finally learn to express himself like an adult. The disparity in their maturity made it seem like I was watching an estranged mother and son interact. And it was cute and wholesome in that sense. But as lovers it was a bit weird. The josei tag and marriage theme had me fooled into thinking it was gonna be a love story between 2 adults.

I get that childhood trauma can cut off emotional development and I wouldn't have minded it if the ML was actively trying to grow on his own volition. Instead, if it weren't for FL's intervention, he would've been happy to passively stay in his comfort zone without regard to who he was hurting, and that didn't make for a compelling or sympathetic character imo. I just felt real bad for the FL, since the burden was always on her to fix stuff that wasn't hers to fix to begin with. <<less

I finished this book in one day. This is the second book that I read by this author (same TL) and I love the sweetness between the MC and ML. The misunderstandings of the past were smoothed away. There is no angst, no drawn out drama, only sweet fluff.

Guys if you haven't read this story yet pleaseeeeeee GIVE IT A CHANCE! This is not typical transmigration story, this is not innocent love story and definitely not a fluffy story. But when you read this you will laugh, you will cry and you will smile proudly of our MC and ML. MC and ML both are not a hateful person. I definitely goint to reread this and remember this story for a long time. The lines definitely beautiful! It full of devotion and sincerity. Long story short, please give this story a chance. And just small reminder, you're going to feel a little confused at the few final chapter but no worry, just keep reading until the end then you will get it. I don't like this novel.

I know people love it and the rating is a 4.7 on nu but it just doesn't work for me.

... more>> I normally love pining and stories like this but it's just not working for me in this novel.

The ML is just so passive and has such low self-esteem I find myself not liking him much. If the MC never found out he loved her their relationship never would have worked out ever.

Also, it's not just him she didn't do anything in their first life to actually give their relationship a chance either, she just took what someone told her about him loving another women at face value and never asked him if he was in love with someone else.

From the beggining she treated their marriage like a contract and wasn't willing to do anything to change that dynamic.

So, yeah. I personally think they both kind of suck and are too passive in love.

Also, she's mad he hadn't confessed in their second life soon enough, when she hasn't said she loved him either, so she's got double standards I don't find myself liking either.

I just prefer pining when the ML takes an active role in getting the girl instead of just accepting everything and agreeing to divorce her like he did the first time. One would think, if he set up their contract marriage he'd have the b*lls to actively fight for her but sadly he doesn't. <<less

Okay, I'm done lying to myself.

I don't know why, but I really don't like this. Not only this, I don't like any of Grumpy Crab's work.

There's nothing inherently wrong with this novel. The writing's good, the relationship's healthy and it's overall a nice novel.

I think it's the way Grumpy Crab writes relationships that make me go ugh.

I get into a novel seeing the high ratings and good reviews. Halfway into the novel, the feeling of disappointment gets bigger and bigger. And then I see that the author is Grumpy Crab.

I force myself to smile and like this novel but that feeling of meh never goes away.

A story of a couple making up for lost chances and a wife probing the emotions of her weird stoic husband.

To be honest, the main couple has a garbage level of chemistry.

They are totally incompatible with each other and without the rebirth and assertiveness from MC to take a few steps forward to remedy her awful married life and see her husband in a renewed light, nothing would've changed.

ML was so inclined on acting distant and making huge pessimistic jumps in his head that he truly treated MC like he... more>> got married to her for convenience (to get connections to the upper crust and her family gets saved from bankruptcy, I don't blame the masses in their circle from thinking so because that was the most logical conclusion).

But most importantly, ML is one of the worst when it comes to communication.

In their first lifetime, they had a s*xual relationship after 1 year of their marriage WITHOUT ever clearing up ANY of the misunderstandings, which basically makes him the absolute lowest of the low-tier scums.

Then, after 5 years, he was the one to suggest a divorce to 'set her free' (which can be easily misunderstood as the typical breakup when the partner goes 'it's me, not you' BS).

I don't and can't really blame MC for keeping a distance from him with how he behaved around her. It's actually maddening that he managed to make her feel guilty unconsciously in their 2nd lifetime after she realized she also had been passive (yeah no shit, happens when your husband fks off right after your wedding day, doesn't like to visit your parents with you, hardly talks to you and uses you like a s*x doll).

But even after clarifying some of his emotions and backstory in their 2nd lifetime, he was still withholding information from MC *throws hands*. The author clearly likes to drag things out, so the 60 chapters felt like 300 to me with the extra unnecessary dramatic antics.

ML acts like he's all the time in the world or he is so much of a perfectionist, that he wants to air out his secrets only at the right and 'perfect' moment when there's no such thing. Withholding information will only cause misunderstandings.

My annoyance with him reached another peak when it came to the childhood bracelet arc, he just had upset MC (not telling her about their childhood where she got lost and he took care of her and about the rabbit doll+bracelet she carried at the time) and promised to be upfront about things in his mind, and starts withholding information AGAIN (discovering who stole the bracelet at the orphanage and why his half-sister had it on her), like, do you understand the human language or are the promises you make all farts to you?

People like him are extremely exhausting to be around; they keep it in until they implode in some way or form. The more you care about these kinds of people the more worries will be added onto your shoulders because they don't know how to treat themselves right.

And you end up feeling like you're the arse for not paying always enough attention as MC did.

You're the only person reaching out, they appreciate that but it would help if it was a two-way street.

The child that does not cry will not get any milk, y'know?

That aside, I didn't like ML's work ethic, it's supposed to be comical, you see it often, but just like an overbearing CEO stereotype, over time, it's just annoying to see how they're set to disregard other people for a giggle.

The typical anti-social main character who likes to throw a temper tantrum that somehow still gets unlimited tolerance and support from his subordinates and friends? *Eyeroll*

And disliking his own children because childbirth was painful for his dear wife. Why is this trope a thing?? Vying and contesting for your spouse's love with your kids shouldn't be a thing.

Overall, pretty frustrating. Too much dog blood. Most misery comes from their own actions, but mostly ML's.

He had all the courage in the world to make all the wrong moves, but when it comes to the right move, you have to be on your knees and beg him. <<less

This is too cute. It's very refreshing. I don't know how it can be cute and painfully wistful at the same time. I love the ML. I love the FL. I love the side characters. I could die from diabetes and buried in sugar right now and I won't regret it one bit.

I'm truly, truly surprised by the development of the side character. It got one of the best that I've seen in a fluff novel.

just binge-read this novel till the end, and it was worthy losing some sleep over this story????? I love the ML, and the way he ‘scared and panicky’ with the MC just makes me rolling in the bed laughing in the middle of the night????????? Honestly you guys should try read this gems, at first I was just casually read it and I got hooked after a few chapters. The MC is not op, as well as the ml. They both have flaws, which makes it bittersweet and funny.

sigh, I don't even know where to start....

Ok, so I came here after finishing "my husband with scholar syndrome" which is pretty good so I have a VERY high expectations on this one bcuz the rating and the review like everyone was talking about how fluffy it was bla bla so I was so excited thinking another 5 star novel is ahead. but I ended not liking it like it annoyed the sh*t out of me mainly bcuz of the ML.

from the beginning of the novel I've been making... more>> excuses for his behavior in the last life and also the beginning cos I want to like him and pity him cos the author made his upbringing so horrible and tragic as an excuse of his timidity and low self-esteem but even towards the end I still can't.

Idk exactly what was the author thinking when he created him. like why? I usually find timid characters cute and Im easily fond of such a character but him is just absurd and coward and annoying.

Like ok, he has low self-esteem and felt like he doesn't deserve her so he used that method to tie her In marriage and then after that he was like "oh no, I dont want ppl to look down on her so let's treat her like a sh*t give her the cold shoulder and her parents so everyone knows that I don't love her and misunderstood that I have another person in my heart but from to time I would have seggs with her but will leave as asap after the deed" like wtf he's literally a scum!

I don't care about his s*upid insecurities shit! the fact that he made the FL bear the humiliation and scorns from other people and do nothing about it is so f*cking frustrating.

he expects shen xi to be happy with him yet he didn't even try like not once in their 5yrs of marriage. And as a business man he should know how important it is to communicate and to let the other person know what you were thinking but the author decided to make him brainless in that regard. He also knows the FL/her parents misunderstanding about him liking another girl like everyone in circles knows yet he never try to clear the misunderstanding.

I really hope the ML in past life doesn't exists in real life cos his partner would be too pitiful. he's the type "although I love you but I must let you go cos I'm unworthy you'll find someone better/" guy. if I was the FL I would beat him after finding out the truth about all those misunderstanding..... ok I sounds I'm being too harsh on him but I can't help it! Like imagine if u were in her shoes and only finding out the husband you've been yearning for 5 yrs liked you but only after his death just because he can't man himself like a coward

THE BEST PART IN THE NOVEL IS EXTRAS!!!!!!!!! Trust me you gonna love this story❤️ MC and ML both are very likable n lovely characters! MC already find out about ml's true feelings before she reborn. So there aren't any annoying misunderstandings! ML is op in business world. He only get shy n 'scared' when it comes to his beloved! BUT night comes beast comes out😉 (if you know what I mean😏)

I'm gonna rate this 5 stars because I really like the story and the leads.

Actually for this kind of story, you shouldn't question why he won't communicate properly his feelings for her, or why she was oblivious.. Cause if they follow your ideas, we won't have much twists and turns and the plot will be boring. Not everyone can express their feelings openly. Even fictional characters need to have different personalities okay. They can't all be perfect, smart, strong, brave, etc.

If he confessed in their 1st life or if she... more>> knew, then it'll be over in chapter 1. No reincarnation. No redo of things. No second chances.

The author is an author for a reason. Following your logic, we won't have much to read. A reason why we are readers, not authors. <<less

I love this story so much. The plot is actually quite simple but the author did a good job portraying MC and ML's struggle in their marriage because of simple misunderstanding and lack of communication. What made it worse was both MC and ML were a reserved person so they both waited for each other to take the first action.

ML and MC in the last life:

ML secretly fell in love with MC for years but didn't dare to tell her because he thought she didn't like him. MC actually didn't hate ML but she felt bitter because ML was in love with another girl (she didn't know it was her all along) so she could only protected her heart by acting distance. They didn't manage to resolve their misunderstanding till ML's death.

MC and ML in the current life:

MC managed to tear down the wall in ML's heart by trying to slowly communicate with him. They manage to be a real couple and also had a few kids. It's happily ever after.

ML from the current life managed to know what will happen when he never confessed his love towards MC while ML from the last life also managed to know how blissful his life after he confessed his feeling to MC. I hope MC and ML in the last life could make it this time and I also hope the current MC didn't forget to tell ML from the last life about his plane crash accident so he could avoid it.

I love this so much!!!!!!! Grumpy Crab's works never fail to seize me. It's very well written, and also the epilogue!!!!!!!!!!! The author really gave both universe's MCs justice ;___;

It's so fluffy and sweet, with no vicious love rivals nor petty schemes. The conflicts are all about misunderstandings, SO COUPLE!!!!!!!!! PLEASE COMMUNICATE!
