He was an addict, a loser, a despicable human being.

But, one fleeting dream that may not have been a dream at all reawakens his once-lost senses.

Possessing a very unique ability, he would use that, and the dream, to forge his path in the world now known as the Lost Paradise.

“The son of god Gula has returned.”

I was lost in the world of gambling.

I turned my back on my family and even betrayed my lover.

I wasted every day of my life.

It was a life of trash.

The reality told me thus:

That I would amount to nothing no matter what I did.

In order to change my pathetic life, I chose fantasy, instead.

Even then, it was the same story.

I wondered if salvation would come at the end of the long road.

But, I was forced to kneel down in defeat in front of a powerful entity.

The tower I built up with my own hands crumbled into nothingness.

Just for once, I dearly wished to know the truth about myself.

– Come closer, my child…

I will not hold back this time.

Absolutely fantastic read, but I just wish the release date was faster because I'm addicted. They do a good job though since the chapters are usually about 3 times the length of other novels. It seems to be coming out much more frequently and I will have to look into supporting the translator. =)

This novel exceeded all my expectations. During fighting and dangerous scenes, I felt like I was watching a horror movie. Emotional scenes brought tears to my eyes. The interactions between characters felt so realistic and enjoyable to read. MC felt like a real human being who makes mistakes, reflect on his mistakes, feels every emotion, the mental struggle to make correct decisions. The Character growth is done incredibly well. Other characters are also fleshed out, feels realistic and has distinct personalities.

The world building is divided into 3 parts so far... more>> tutorial, real world, fantasy world. Every single of that world was enjoyable to read which is rare as normally I always prefer one thing to another. Even the adventure parts where MC learns new things was something I was able to savor with relish. It was quite unique. It almost felt like I could never get bored from this novel no matter what happens. The start prologue - 2 chapters might be hard to get into but after that, you will find yourself getting immersed into the novel world, well starting any new novel is always hard for me so maybe it's just me.

The chapter length is 2x-3x big compared to other Korean novels. So don't look at 64 chapters and think it is a low number. It actually has enough story progress that will be a very enjoyable experience. <<less

Really Bad

  • Well, the MC is DUMB, he doesn't uses powers in a good way. He has the ability to sense danger, yet on every mission (WITHOUT EXCEPTION), he goes in a dangerous situation to save some (GIRL who he doesn't knows well many times, well why not save a GUY for some change!!) and almost DIES yet, every time by some MIRACLE (plot armor), he survives!!
  • Well, he can sense danger, yet goes into a life-threatening situation with a team of newbies (he doesn't even know them). He is the team-leader yet is bossed around by the newbies on basis of majority rules!! He enters the situation and almost dies yet again!!
  • If one is ok with a novel with a (dense) MC who wants to build some harem, by risking his life every time and who has no brain at all, then one can like this novel. I don't think you are one of them and neither am I. Its really over-rated, deserves 4.2 at best instead of this ridiculously high 4.7!! For me personally it is 1.0.

Tl;dr Well-thought out, very deep MC, I've had to rapidly blink in public to keep from crying at times.

There is an interesting dynamic where the MC is considered trash on Earth and as a rising star in Paradise, the alternate world. The MC isn't trash because he's unlucky or something gimmicky, but because of his own choices. He used to be a kind, great dude, and ruined everything by developing a gambling addiction. At the beginning of the series we see him at his lowest, acting like an absolute bastard.... more>> He's the kind of person you might think the world might be better off without, someone who has fallen too far for redemption.

That's the thing: the author takes this character and has CRAZY CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. If anything else, I think this novel teaches us the valuable lesson that even the most depraved people are people, can feel remorse, and can be redeemed. <<less

Story seems planned out to be an OP MC fighting and winning against the dark forces with his co-star harem and one dimensional side characters.

I will acknowledge that the beginning 14 or so chapters introduced a well-used premise in an interesting new way, but the story's development is clearly straying from that original path.

This could be the fault of the translator, but all the characters ignore the character traits they were introduced with and revert to a happy-go-lucky personality around the MC. It's very difficult for me to engage with... more>> the struggles of those around the MC when their very real struggles disappear like smoke thanks to the help of the omnipotent MC who also has his own flaws completely fixed by chapter 38 and thus becomes a very generic MC.

If you've never read a story regarding an OP MC with a harem before, then you may find this story interesting and I encourage you to experience this genre while it is still a new experience. If you've tired of this genre already then I would advise you to stop reading this comment and look for another novel. <<less

You know these works that are so good and so rare that you wish you could erase every memories about them so you could read them for the first time again and again?

Reading this novel was a surprising experience. My expectations and reality didn't match at all.

I've seen a lot of people ranting about amazing character development, great side characters who are important, etc. So obviously I've expected to see something worthy of that praise, but what I've got is an irrational world with a group of incompetent individuals. And that's what I want to talk about here.

Disclaimer. I've dropped the novel in early 100th and will be talking about the things I've seen so far in the story.

Lets start from the... more>> beginning.

Gods. It's a very dubious bunch in this novel. Despite their importance in the setting, they are useless existences. Their leader died right at the introduction without achieving anything, and you don't really feel that the rest of the them are doing something worthwhile. The only thing worth mentioning is the fact that they are the ones summoning the earthlings and administering the system they are given.

And here comes the thing I've found the most illogical and contradicting in this dumb world building. Currently all of the humans summoned into this world are slaves or corporate slaves by default. Excuse me but what the actual **ck is this? I can accept the existence of human corporations having some amount of invitations to summon their own corporate slaves to work for them as a privilege for their achievements, but the fact that there are contracts without any human rights and that people are treated worse than livestock is beyond my comprehension. What these moronic gods are even thinking about to allow this? Do they expect that mistreated slaves will save their world? Like 'Yeah, we were tricked/forced into the contract, humiliated, forced into different kinds of labors, so now it's time to work our butts off to save this great world!'. Looks like they need to read some isekai novels about edgy teenagers who were just rudely chased away after the summon, without even being forced into mining, and see how it is usually ends.

And it is only the beginning of stupidity. Because it is said that this world lacks any sort of entertainment, so all the females usually sell their bodies. And it is 'perfectly normal' and accepted by everyone. Mm, what? Am I reading the Chinese novel here and not American?

Well, lets set aside the question of morals here and look at it from another angle. Imagine that you have to go through hard training, fights, monster attacks and being constantly under huge stress only to sell yourself 'for fun' later. What great prospects! It just fills you with motivation when thinking about it. Do these damnable gods even know the concept of being grateful? Maybe they will provide something to the people who are fighting for them?

I got it that they will grant you some kind of wish in the future, proportional to your achievements on the battlefield. But it is a matter too far off. For normal people some vague promise is not enough of a motivation. It may work with psychos and battle junkies because they will enjoy the process, or some desperate souls, but for sane people it's not ok.

Moving to the MC.

The protagonist - Seol. He is a miracle in and of itself. What I want to talk about now is not his personality, but a question of how it came to be. Yeah, how? Unfortunately, I don't know the answer. In the first chapters he was described as a scum and alcoholic, who will do whatever he needs to achieve what he wants, including stealing from his own kin. But he doesn't act like it. Well, he was under the alcohol and had an argument with his ex. But there was nothing too shocking here. We know nothing about their shared background, so we can't even properly judge the situation. And the next chapter Seol is suddenly a changed man. Complete 180 degree change. It came out of blue without any character development whatsoever. All his values got swapped, now he is acting like a Japanese high schooler with hero syndrome. He appears to be very indecisive and innocent. Is it not a miracle? People do not change like flipping a switch, and more so they can't get back their innocence. Let me remind you that he was even stealing from his kin. You need to be very decisive to do that kind of stunt. Mindset like this will never disappear, even if you decide to change your way of doing things, it will still follow you. Well, normally, that is.

What happens here can only be described with another setting. Something alone the lines of:

'Your absolutely usual, Japanese highschool student Hiroto, who was known as a beta pushover among his peers, was hit by a truck and got reincarnated into the body of a Chinese scum Seol. Being pushed by destiny this time around and finding within himself both down and hero syndromes (famous 2-in-1 for you here), Hiroto decided to go and save another world, all the time redeeming Seol's past sins and changing the way people see him.'

And this premise fits novel much better. Yes, later we will see how our autist Hiroto is struggling and developing something. Though Hiroto will always be a sub-human, there will be some changes.

But you can't really feel the results of his struggles. The reason is the plot armour. I don't know how better to describe this. Him being pushed around by his skill this time? Should we be happy that Hiroto can stay true to his pushover ways? All of his actions and decisions are decided by his skills. I've seen comments like 'great trouble solving' somewhere, and it made me laugh. I mean, Hiroto got the ability to check status of others (Like level, stats, titles. Titles are very important here. You can basically see the person's true self through some of them.), to see the best decision and way to choose and what level of danger it will be. The fact that Hiroto is always getting into trouble is already showing how much of a ret*rd he is.

Side characters. By themselves they are okay. Nothing new here, just some cliche.

It is also worth mentioning that I didn't notice any particular meaning in any of them. All of them can be replaced. And the reason for this, once again, is Hiroto's imbalanced skill. Even if placed in a completely new environment, his skill will show him where to go and to whom it's worth it to pay attention to. Whom to follow to achieve success and whom to avoid.

The other reason is that no one of the characters was really capable or has any exceptional ability. What I mean is, the characters are only described as capable. They do not act like they are ones. They are bland and meagre, it is hard to imagine someone being even more useless when what they are performing is only basics.

Just imagine it. During 100 chapters our level 1 retarded hero always had the same level of contribution as the high level veteran adventurers. If not higher. Hiroto's autism seems to be contagious, so all the other characters act stupid, allowing him to close the distance in stats/skills. Once it was a situation where all Hiroto did was to throw several grenades and immediately retreat, but among the thousands of high level adventures present nobody could do something of this level. Including levels 4 and 5.

All of the characters here are simply for convenience's sake. So he wouldn't need to go through the trouble of getting acquainted with new ones for the same reason. And because his skill is showing him the way, he is always meeting them again through some kind of coincidence. The skill is showing who is the boss here.

You can't escape from Hiroto! <<less

I was never actually going to read this since the synopsis didn't appeal to me at all, and it seemed as if it would be very boring with that synopsis, you know?

But I saw the reviews and thought, what's with this insanely high ratio of 5 stars? So I decided to read it at 11 PM. Now, it's 4:58 AM and my eyes hurt from the crying and the light mode. (But don't mind that)

First. The world is interesting. I gotta say that, because I really care about the... more>> premise when it comes to WNs, and no one seemed to be mentioning that in reviews, which was a reason why I was hesitant to read it. It's kind of hard to explain, but seriously. It's a little like the Tutorial is too Hard, or something. Anyways, seriously, read it and you'll understand.

Second. The characters. Well, the character development of the MC. He was an absolute scumbag before, and, well. Forgiveness won't come easily at all. I mean, he went back, and the contrast at the treatment of him from his family members to the insanely strong people, whew.

Fuuu, I seriously cried. I mean, the actions of them, just felt so realistic. One moment, I was, well, immersed in his character, enjoying the respect he had in the other world, and then, when he came back home, while I was still immersed, got this----

Seriously. It's friggin sad, but it felt like it could really happen to any of us, really. Like, he managed to make it very, deep (?) but not using very super extreme things, you know, all the cliche melodrama things. Not gonna spoil for you if you see this review.

Anyways. Just read it, this novel. If you're craving for something new, this is it. Also, I spent 16 minutes composing this, it is now 5:14. I hope someone read this review. <<less

An absolutely awesome novel~!

The emotions and characters are interesting. Can't wait for more. I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster. I feel like this is the best redemption and one of the best character growth novels. It's probably one of my favorite Korean novels now too, haha.

I read 78 chapters in one go (just shows how awesome it is) while listening to Sekai no Owari's LOVE SONG. I feel like the song overall matches the novel really well.

After weeks of wading through dozens of chapters of mediocre web novels I come across this one. After reading the first few chapters I was pretty bored, but the great reviews kept me optimistic. I am now 45 chapters in and I can safely say this is one of my favorite novels I have read. If you aren't hooked on this novel after the first few chapters, I urge you to keep reading because it gets a lot more interesting. It is such a pity that the translator decided to... more>> drop this, but maybe if we can get more people interested he will pick it back up, or someone else will continue where he left off. I urge you to give this novel a try and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! <<less

It is one of best KR novels of this genre. MC is good, plots are decent too there's character development too inshort a fun read. Some may consider MC is a bit lucky but offcourse its a fantasy novel you got to use a bit of your imagination can't let the MC die from the start lol. It's a shame that translator has... more>> put this on hiatus !!! Start translating this people !!!! Can't let such a decent story die like some others. <<less

Sadly, it has being dropped by the translator because of low popularity, but I thought I would put my 2 cents and give this novel 5 stars to keep the rating high. It's one of the best novels out there. Once you get to chapter 20 and the character development starts, it becomes so much better. I'd highly recommend you to read at least until that chapter before you stop reading the novel for the MC's initial annoying personality. You won't regret it. Hopefully another translator picks this Gem up... more>> soon. Have a good day everyone. <<less

This is a great story, gambling addict that becomes a warrior.

Good character development and plot, I feel that the pacing is good and there are lots of clever things still coming.

I hope this series continues to be translated, it has been done pretty well.

This novel has characters with real emotions instead of cardboard cutouts hosed down with the flanderized ideals of Asian masculinity. I genuinely empathize with the main character, and that almost never happens with the translated novellas on this website. I'm excited to see how the author manages to keep this up.

Up to ch 43 this is a story about a despicable human being and his attempts at redemption.

Unlike other novels where the surrounding characters says the main character is trash or garbage (at cultivation or just being human in general) for the sake of a low starting point for the author to rapidly inflate, here the readers actually can feel how much of a human scum the main character really is and be disgusted at him. I even depised him at the start.

And by becoming stronger in another world and... more>> having a few potential romantic interests noticing him doesn't automatically gets him get-out-of-jail-free card of his past trashiness. And that's what I love about this novel.

I'll try to be vague to avoid spoillers but where I'm up to, the main character Seol is still trying to overcome his broken lifestyle for the past 3-4 years that had hurt many around him including himself. The author isn't forgiving enough to let things to be done and dusted and makes Seol confront his shitty life choices even after he gets a pat on the back from some powerful people in another world. And Seol himself is aware of this, he doesn't expect forgiveness and understands he don't deserve it but he just wants those he cares about to hurt no longer.

P.S Also I've got to give the translator (& editor) some praise, though there are little bits where the sentences didn't flow that well, the scenes that had the biggest impact on me the most were the emotional ones and I believe they did an excellent job at conveying that across in english. The internal monologue, the dialogue and bits of subtle actions made me really feel Seol's struggle. <<less

This novel is just too good!! The characters (except for mobs if you know what I mean) are written with depth, you'll honestly symphatize with the MC since he really wants to change, he always reminds himself and honestly if he doesn't have his gambling problems and just reading through the novel, the MC is really smart, he plans ahead and sometimes emotions do get ahead of him but there's a person to keep him in check or at least he tries to devise his plan everytime if it doesn't... more>> work. It feels like D&D honestly, haven't played the game but I've been watching some youtubers who plays the game and wow its really like a D&D novel. If you've been having a drought of novels to read, like me, then this will ignite your gusto with novels!

Worth a shot to read, give it a try, 50 chapters or so and I promise you you'll be hooked! :D <<less

I've been reading novels for many years already, found many hidden gems and over-rated craps, saw some newbie praising or denouncing a novel with his lacking experience, data base, and IQ. But what I can say is that this thing right here! Is a start of a new legend!

This novel is a rising star. Just like how "warlock of the magus world" tops my AI novels, "reaincarnated as a slime" starts my isekai mayhem, and "overlord" dominates my op protagonist, This novel's potential makes my thirst and passion for novels... more>> aflame!!

I dont care if a Novel has flaws or whatnot, I just want to enjoy the story. I enjoy the whole tutorial, but when they went to that world the MC became dumb with VIRGIN HERO SYNDROME. After reading almost every Korean novel registered on NU, I have to say this is one of the best.

Who cares about reviews, anyone thinking about reading this, you'll get hooked by the first chapter.

I'd also like to comment on how thrown off I was after Seol ... more>>

went to visit his brother and sister. I was expecting at least a little bit of forgiveness like it in other novels, but the anger and emotion in that chapter was, thinking about it, so raw and realistic.

This novel deserves way more attention.
