While the part where the love between the leads was finally reciprocated, and then when they finally got together was really sweet, the parts before that which make up the major part of the novel were painful for me, I didn't like the ML at all in those parts. While he was sweet, it just felt like plain hipocrisy to me, whether intentionally or unintentionally from his part, it's like you really get s**ked in with his sweet actions, but then you get reminded each time that he's just like that, it doesn't mean at all that you're the most special, it felt even more hypocritical since all those kind gestures were towards the one he was regarding as a substitute, or just someone promiscuous to feel good with, and who btw reminds you of your sweetheart while getting it on, and the fact that he's claiming all the time his love for one unrelentingly while screwing with the other, not really caring what the one who had been used as a substitute might really feel about it, just made it more it more frustrating. The MC himself isn't flawless of course, he has low self-estime, he's weak, but tenacious and consistent, while some may disagree I love his character way more, the fact that he suffers through so many let downs, yet he doesn't lose himself of sight, makes him really admirable, he can eventually disregard them and then make a comeback, even when the pain's still there and the unpleasant experiences still haunt him, they don't really checkmate him, the only thing that they impact is his self-estime, each failure injures his self-estime further, which is really realistic, his character is relatable in that way, life goes on, while the failures prick his self-estime, he won't stop living the way he wants for that, he's consistent and self-assured, he's proud nonetheless, he's confident in his skills, that is a kind of strenght in itself. The only thing I disagree with in this story is the fact that the ML seems to be forcefully painted in a beautiful light, as a gentleman whose love is so pure and honest, and kinda holy, which I don't agree with. I would've liked for the MC a get back together with Ling more I think. They seem to be like minded and a good match.
