Ouyang Xiwen was a high school English teacher, introverted and amiable.

Xiao Xuan was from a well-off family, a two-faced top student.

While betting with his friends in an abominable game, Xiao Xuan used his good image to get close to Ouyang, acting as a poor student who loved his teacher.

Ouyang started to draw out his life’s blueprint, waiting for Xiao Xuan to enter college, to come of age, to get an official job after graduating college…

But after the game ended, Ouyang suddenly found that he was the only one who had fallen into it, yet Xiao Xuan had an outsider’s soberness from beginning to end.

And yet, though he understood the truth, he was still unable to resent the wide-eyed boy who incessantly called out “Teacher” …

This is a horrible dog blood novel

the only reason I kept reading this was because I wanted the MC to finally grow some spine and stop being a doormat and the ML what excuse does he even have ?? I wont even talk about his high school days because he was a child and it was up to the MC the f*cking grownup TO REJECT HIS ADVANCES and not be a pe*ophile BUT what hes doing in volume 2 is just f*cking nasty he r*ed the MC several times very... more>> violently, the moment the MC doesn't melt with his "teacher.." act he resorts to violence and r* like wtf

Spoiler

MC was whining aboutlosing his job and not getting hired for the longest like YEA DUDE THATS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DATE YOUR STUDENTS, who even knows if you're going to find your "true love" in the next school ya pedo

[collapse]

This novel is simply tragedy p*rn, angst for the sake of angst with no rhyme or reason god I never advocate this but the MC should just D word himself not only will it set him free from this misery but maybe the ML can cry over his grave as a treat

you know I normaally advocate the MC from Don't Pick Up Boyfriends From the tr*sh Bin to come over and save tragic MC's but im going to tell him to stay home for this one yea vol2 tragic but like why did a 28 year old man think going out with a 16 year old is the new wave <<less

Please read the tags before you rate

For people who don’t like these kind of toxic relationship, of course they will rate it as 1 star. But for me, the judgment you should use when you rate the story was not the theme, but how the author unravel the stories and crafted the words into a string of plot, a different universe.

For example, if you like romantic movies and despise horror movie, will you still choose to watch horror movies in cinema? Or people who like art movies, should you rate... more>> romcom as tr*sh movie?

I feel this is unfair to rate this story as 1 star if you don’t like the theme. Once again, read the tags.

This story is not bad, I personally rate it as 4 star. But I gave 5 because people here really dragged the rating down. The author wrote in similar style with shui qian cheng (body double, beloved enemy, little poplar). I personally like SQC story more, because the scum tr*sh gong try harder to win the affection back from our bullied shou. But this story also not bad.

For some ppl who said the MC here is weak and s*upid, I didn’t think so. He’s just an introvert and lonely person. I like how the author distinguish her chars in every book. If you like a little bit angst and strong toxic yandere ML like me, this book is worth to read. <<less

Controversial. This came into my mind while I was reading this. It's quite a short story compared to other novels. The story has dub-con, though, the line between r*pe and dub-con in this story is thin. You see, I don't mind age gaps, I enjoy reading about toxic relationships, and I enjoyed the author's other works, but this was not it.

Does the MC not have any self-worth?

There is a 12 year age gap between the two leads. The ML was 16 when the story starts, while the MC is 28,... more>> you pe*ophile. Anyways, the story starts with the ML trying to seduce his teacher, the MC. The MC is quite naïve and soft hearted, sometimes dumb, he quickly falls for the ML. They had s*x when the ML was underage, but it was more like it was forced by ML.

I did empathize with the MC when the ML hurt him, although I was sometimes angry at the the MC for having such a soft heart and being so naïve. Good thing he kinda toughened up when the ML left. Overall, its a bad story.

Edit: honestly, thinking back, this novel infuriated me, the characters are dumb. It wasnt that bad when I read it first, but as I thought about it again. Its tr*sh.

edit 2: So as I have stated before, I have read the other works by the author and I liked them, I started a few of her other novels which haven't been translated yet and I can say, this is not as bad compared to some. I won't take back my initial review above but I don't have such a negative view of this novel anymore since I would rather waste my energy hating scummier characters. I do recommend the author a lot though!!!

The MC is really annoying, even if you really like someone just thinking how much the ML hurt him and he can still dream about having spring dream.

Idk, feels like the author just want to connect the dot with the synopsis of the story and the inside story*sorry english is not my first language* it didnt make sense, not even a li'l.

MTLED, the ML and MC here are both s*upid and dumb?????? Seriously I wanna give zero, this novel deserves zero star.

The story deserves a 3-3.5 star rating, but I admit I got annoyed with people downvoting it because they disliked the r*pe scenes (how about checking the tags first?!) and calling the MC a pe*ophile, so I gave it an extra star to even out the score a bit.

For those of you who call the MC a pe*ophile: please look up the definition of pedophilia since you clearly don't know what it means - also, while having a relationship with a minor can be considered unethical, the age of consent isn't 18 in every country around the world, and a 16-year old is not a child.

Just for the sake of everyone who for some bizarre reason don't check the tags before reading: this is a dogblood novel... more>> with graphic depictions of r*pe (ML raping the MC), dubcon and also consensual s*x between a teenager and his adult teacher. It also contains gaslighting and abuse. What it does not contain: Grooming or the teacher taking advantage of his position towards a student - the MC may be an adult, but he's the one being manipulated and pressured into a relationship by his student. The ML is 100% at fault here, and his age is not an excuse.

With that out of the way, I have to say that this novel wasn't as good as it could have been. It's a classic wife chasing in the crematorium-novel, where the scum ML hurts and betrays the MC only to regret it and chase him to win him back, proving along the way that while he's a complete a*hole, he does care for the MC.

Sadly I've already read the excellent 188 series before this novel, and the writing here isn't nearly as good nor the characters as complex. The ML did excel in scum behavior, and when he acted in a weird, seemingly out-of-character way, it got explained towards the end. But the part where he was chasing the MC felt too brief and superficial, and when the misunderstanding/secret between him and the MC was cleared up, it was too short and didn't have the emotional impact it should have.

The ML's complicated relationship with his brother

Spoiler

should have been explored further. It's meant to be a big reveal that the brother forced the ML to break up with the MC and had him beaten up so badly, but it happens too fast and then it's just not talked about any further, which is really a shame, since the beating and apparent betrayal and rejection of the MC by the ML was one of the emotional highlights of the story. And it shouldn't have been so easy for the ML to deal with his brother who literally put him under house arrest (not sure when, but probably at the time he didn't go to school as a way to force him to give up the MC), had the MC accused of r*pe of a student and fired, beaten up so badly he suffered permanent damage, and later tried to frame him for drug possession and mu*der him. That guy is such a psycho that there's no way he'd give up just because the ML asked him to. It felt too cheap and easy.

I did like the extra where he got drunk and had s*x with Rong Liu - served him right after being a homophobic a*hole and crazy gangster person.

[collapse]

The MC was the most well-written character, but he shouldn't have forgiven the ML so easily 6 years later.

The ML wasn't as deep as he could have been, which is a shame. If the author had given us more of his perspective, it would have had more emotional impact and made the story better. The overall plot isn't bad at all and the logic isn't so far out there for a dogblood abuse novel. I found it believable that the MC and ML fell for each other.

Overall this seems like a milder version of Sissy, but more shallow and not as well-written. I haven't read any of Lan Lin's other works, maybe they're better. <<less

I finally finish this..*sigh

I cried a lot on chapt 15.. It was a happy ending. From the start, MC is the kindest people, the kind who only want a simple and peaceful life, to just fall in love and live happily together..

It just that, while reading, I cant help but hating the ml. I wish they never meet from the start, MC have to suffer so much because of him. While crying for them, I secrectly pray for mc's happiness huhuu. Wish there will be more chapters or extra afterwards.

*some people might think MC too naive and the story is toxic and so on, but I really think how MC feel might be how normal people feels. He is gay, and as introvert person, so he wont be able to proudly and confidently look for a partner. 'A kind person who just want to fall in love', that is my impression on MC. *translation is really good. Thank you translator-san. <<less

Now, this is my perspective of things...

This story is absolute bullshit. The flow of the plot is ridiculous and so were the decisions made by the protagonist.

But despite having an absurd flow, the story itself was a bit compelling to read. The way the author wrote her protagonist was really well done and despite all the loathful acts by the ML and the irresponsible and silly decisions made by the protagonist, I successfully managed to complete the book because I was hooked.

I won't say that the ML is human and... more>> hence made mistakes. His mistakes were not rare and he clearly knew the consequences. Nothing he's done is forgivable. But I admit, at times, I had found him cute and adorable and most of the time, detestable.

Before starting this work, I am sure everyone knows that they are going to be reading a severely toxic relationship and hence, are prepared to face it. But be warned that the angst from fury that the readers might experience while reading is truly too much.

Worth giving it a try if you have a strong heart! <<less

In countrary to other's reviews I relly love this novell and characters. I can't deny that MC is naive, but as we read on, more and more features of his personality are revealed to us. And we understand that behind this naivety he hides his fear of loneliness. He is a complicated person, like everyone else in novell. And they feel like real people for me. Thus, I understand why he ended up with ML, even though this guy gave him so many problems.

Omg!!!! I hate this novel beyond hate!! I hate ML and MC even more!!! There’s nothing NOTHING good about them... I want to wash my memory clean from this novel. It’s so frustrating to read about all the abuse and lies from ML on top of that MC is so f*cken spineless even when he clearly knows how horrible the other person is he still let it happen! I actually want MC to just died so that he’s s*upidity won’t bring harm to himself. I just cannot relate at all... more>> to this type of person, I wish the author would of said that he have a mental disability problem, in that case I can forgive him for being s*upid! I like angst novel such as the novel Sissy, but this is just plain asking to be torture! At least in Sissy, he wasn’t as s*upid as this MC. He actually seriously fought back and avoid ML at all cost after he broke it up and he was rapped. <<less

The noncon and dubcon was disturbing but the tag was there so it was implied that the readers should be warned ahead of time.

I'm giving it 5 not bc of the noncon but because I think the author have written it well. I'm not sure if the author intentionally make it so the character's are close to real life reactions at the same time fictional. In my perpective, the whole picture of the story is balanced wherein I can't be conflicted with what the MC has to go through because... more>> it was a bit more realistic that the conflicts
Spoiler

happened because of their gender, the age gap, the status gap. And it was realistic how when ML was young, he can't protect MC despite being a yoing master. He didn't also became too powerful because of his brother. It was ficitional because the author emphasized the exaggeration of the angst.

I am amazed at the patience of the translator! I literally skimmed through more than half of the novel and still broke down at chapter 20. There were only some chapters left, but I couldn't do it anymore.
Abominable ML, undignified MC.

What a waste of a good translation. What a pity that sometimes interesting worthy stories are translated in such a way that one can only guess at the meaning. But this... um... work was awarded a good translation.
I don't usually rate novels low, but here... 2 stars just... more>> because of the translator, this novel doesn't deserve even one star. <<less

I know I've read the tags and I can usually ignore that part BUT.

MC and ML are both piece of tr*sh.

MC almost in his late 20's dating a f*cking 16 year old boy is something absolutely disgusting.

Plus his character seems like he can't think for his own sake? He just walks straight ahed ignoring all the red flags just for the plot. Like I can't imagine a person after going through this much (which naturally could have been avoided if he hadn't dated a child in the first place) could... more>> be so blind that he can't even do anything for himself. Again MC is a FULL GROWN ADULT so you would atleast expect him to have little thinking capacity? But NO. What he will do is run away from situations or hug the trouble (ML).

And no this isn't victim blaming this is just my frustration because our ADULT and apparently SMART MC can't set his own boundaries. I just wanted him to have a f*cking backbone but nah.

He's just like a doll/robot with functions (plot) given to him - that's all he does apart from that he can't do anything on his own (thinking)

As for the ML do I even need to say anything? tr*sh tr*sh tr*sh. Anyway I don't see any love between both of them it's probably just lust in ML's case. As for MC he's foolish enough to like ML and beg that other guy to stay with him so idek anymore. <<less

I felt really disgusted throughout the novel, the age gap between them is just too much 12 years!!!! Bruh and the MC being his teacher tf so creepy. I thought that the MC being the older one should be the one to reject and resist the ML I get it that he was being force but the MC brought that upon himself by this im not saying that I support the ML r*** him but why would he tell his student (ml) whos 12 years younger than him that he... more>> finds him attractive thats like giving a green light to the ml. The MC is just plain s*upid and naive and the ML is just a jerk. I came here for the angst but this was just boring to me. I literally skip all the scenes when they were sleeping I didnt find it sexy or attractive it was just disgusting TeacherxStudent 🤮

Fours star rating for the translation, the plot zero, the charaters zero <<less

i won't rate it, for now.

i like this kind of story, similar to sade's justine, where the MC has no power, and struggling to survive under pressure of those high above.

the problem is, unlike in sade's justine, the author tries to justify and whitewash that despicable ML.

no!

ok, let's rate it.

the angst, 4, 5/5.

to the shameless author turnarounds and notes, giving the ML some face, 0, 0/5.

Even though there are only 23 chapters, I was very tired while reading it. MC is truly a naive person. But that's not his main problem. He's so in love that he can ignore all of ML's faults. Even though these mistakes were mostly unforgivable, MC was willing to forgive. You could call it a lack of pride. Despite being so well written, the characters and events were unbearable for me. That's why I gave it 4 stars.

Spoiler

MC is ml's high school teacher. ML pursues MC as part of a game with his friends, but ends up liking MC. MC resists at first, then reciprocates, and they maintain a secret love affair. When ML graduates, he breaks up with MC before going overseas. Ml's family used their connections to ruin mc's reputation - painting him as a s*xual abuser and cutting off his career as a teacher. MC was assaulted and he spends the next six years in poverty and in poor health.

MC and ML reunite, and ML tries to pursue MC again. MC is incredibly resistant this time around, but his rejections were never firm as he still held feelings for ml. ML goes to prove that his feelings were genuine through various acts of kindness and selflessness, and he pulls some strings so that his family would never bother MC again. MC relunctantly accepts ML again and they rekindle their relationship.

[collapse]

thoughts:

xiao xuan is a sociopath, probably. I think r*pe is his love language. it pains me to say that my favourite part of the novel was when xiao xuan was still a high schooler, chasing and flirting ouyang, calling out 'teacher teacher', stealing hugs and kisses, setting the scene like the perfect puppy love romance. Ouyang fell so hard and he genuinely thought they could have a future together. Xiao xuan made everything feel so real and convincing. Even after finishing the novel I cant be sure whether that was all an act or genuine.

everything points to xiao xuan betraying ouyang but I was still surprised when it came to. Mostly because the way xiao xuan went about it was sooo unnecessarily evil.

ouyang is always described as a coward but I think xiao xuan is the bigger coward. To be complicit when his family hired a bunch of thugs to beat up his boyfriend is the true loser move. If he had an ounce of affection left he would stand up for him, or at least warn him. But this kid lured him out and then acts like he didnt care when ouyang was nearly beaten to death. I was so speechless.

the story had really good build up but maybe twenty chapters wasnt enough to wrap things up because the ending was disappointing. The apology felt flat. Ouyang kinda just forgave him and they made up without much fanfare. I was hoping for more wife chasing crematorium. And part of ouyang's appeal for me is his despondency. I loved the way the author wrote his fall from grace. Hes tired and hurt and broken, hes obviously not ready to love again - so why the hell did he accept xiao xuan back so easily?

but at least ouyang didnt throw himself into xiao xuan's arms after they made up. Hes obviously still paranoid and distrustful and I think thats something that'll stick for a long time in their relationship. <<less
